Me and my family have been coming here for years. It is consistently an amazing experience, with an overall a very respectful kind staff. This course offers a variety of skill levels on each different hole, with many different twists that enchant the gameplay. It is perfect if you are looking for an enjoyable experience with family or friends. This golf course is easily one of my favorites out of the many golf courses I've visited. Additionally, this course includes a diverse array of wildlife statues that you could encounter on a safari. These statues are clearly made with care and supreme craftsmanship. Also, this course includes a large waterfall and beautiful canals throughout it. I'm still pretty new to mini-golf, but I figured I could get a little bit of mini-golf practice in. After all, I volunteered to staff it at my job, so it would only be right that I get some mini-golf play in before I staff it for 6 and a half hours. Thankfully, this golfing course ain't too far from where I live, so this ain't too bad of a drive to get there. You just have to make a U-turn at the end to get there if you are coming from the northbound lanes like I was. Upon arrival, you kind of see the Safari-theme pretty easily here. You have models of giraffes, gorillas, and elephants amongst other African icons on the golf course. The name of the holes also correlate with African themes such as The Tusk, Zebra Crossing, and Kilimanjaro. Pars for every hole are either 2 or 3 shots, and you don't get to your first Par 3 until The Loop (Hole 10). I played two rounds today and I find this mini-golf course to be pretty beginner friendly. None of the holes were so hard that I needed to get to the 6-shot maximum for any hole, and on both rounds I even got a hole-in-one in a hole (Hole 13 for the first round and Hole 15 for the second). In both rounds I even got 2 birdies on 2 other Par 3's. My scores were still over par on both rounds after all 18 holes, but there was a noticeable improvement on my second round as I shaved 4 off my score. If you like mini-golf and want something stress-free, this is definitely your golf course. As for the customer service, the receptionist was pretty helpful. You can even nab some ice cream after the game if you're coming on a hot day like I did. I got a Chillwich that was $7 and locally manufactured. Honestly, for $7, this hit the spot. I got the Thiq Mint, and it is a HUGE cookie sandwich of goodness. For the pricing of the games themselves, you have to pay $10 for one round, and then for the second round, you can get a dollar off. There is a caveat though that might force you to bring your A-game: If you get a Hole-in-1 on Hole 18, you get your second game free which saves you $9. I will say though, if you are attempting for that, it is NOT easy to get a Hole-in-1 on that last hole. Actually, the way it is designed, it is very difficult to pull off. I was able to get a Birdie on the hole, but not the Hole-in-1. All-in-all, a very fun mini-golf course, and it is a great place for beginners to grab their putts and play a good game. Well maintained course, mix of different difficulty levels but nothing that was super creative or hard. Cashier should be directing customers which way is the start of the course, we walked to hole 18 and then quickly realized we went the wrong way before starting. Another group did the same thing and walked up when we were at the end of our game, and actually was playing on the bottom part of our hole when we were trying to finish our game... the woman actually picked up my ball and handed it to me completely oblivious she had gone the wrong way. There is also no bathrooms from what i could see, and as a pregnant woman that's a huge con for me! All in all a good place to have a fun time, aside from those two flaws. read more

Very fun mini golf location. Well manicured greens and landscaping. Fun holes. It's on a busy stretch of road which takes away some of the ambiance but it's a very nice place. I've been going to Safari Golf for as long as I can remember, and re-visited yesterday. It was a perfect day for a round of mini golf, and the icing on the cake was that I made a hole-in-one! The animals have all clearly been freshly re-painted, as have most of the stairs and the holes seem to have fresh turf. The rivers and lakes need a little bit of help, since they're still full of dead leaves and detriment from the winter, but that will hopefully soon be taken care of. There are easy holes and more challenging holes but this is fun for the whole family. In our time there yesterday, I saw parents with children from age 2 to 12, young couples on dates, and a few older groups. Everyone was respectful of the other groups and made effort to move quickly enough so as to not leave anyone stranded and waiting. The staff was courteous (laughed at my cheesy joke) and helpful. I think of all the mini golf courses we have gone to across the country this might be the best. The grounds are well maintained and the giant kitschy fiberglass animals are freshly painted. The hole are fun and challenging without being too hard or frustrating. We went on a sunny Sunday afternoon and were able to walk right in. There were about 5 other groups playing, some older, some with younger children. The course is fun. They have maximized the space with a course that loops back on itself but the path and holes are all well marked. Since it was Teagan's birthday, he played for free. I have been coming to Safari Golf since Toni and I were dating 30 years ago. Still a great, inexpensive way to spend some time outside together. Come on out, it's easy to find right on the Berlin Turnpike. It is everything you want in a mini golf with nothing you don't!!!! read more

Such a fun mini golf place! The scenery is excellent and the grounds are well kept. There's a waterfall, stream, pond, and vibrantly painted animals. Some of the courses are too simple, it's true, but it's fun for all ages. The price is reasonable (currently $8.50 adult, $7.50 child), and you can win a free round if you get a hole-in-one on the 18th hole which my boyfriend and I have both accomplished before. Add the "mini golf" app to your phone for easy score keeping and a record of your past games. This continues to be my favorite place for mini golf! read more

I had been to Safari Golf as a kid and my most recent visit prior to last night was probably 5 or so years ago. I went to Safari Golf on a date a few weeks ago, and it was very enjoyable (both the date, AND the golf!). As you enter the course, you truly do get the feeling of entering a safari. Many of the holes are among trees, and there are a wide variety of Safari-type animal statues and flowering plants/trees as you go through the course. The layouts of each hole were very unique as well-- just challenging enough to not be boring and also not so challenging that it was frustrating. Every now and then there were benches and gazebos between the holes, which made for a nice place to sit while waiting for groups ahead of you to complete a particular putt. This was much appreciated, as it was a hot day when I went. I would definitely go back to Safari Golf, it's probably the best Mini Golf Course I've been to in CT. Pulling into the entrance of Safari Golf, the parking lot rises with the slope of the hillside. Looking at the compact and attractive course beside it, the question on my mind was, how well did the designers use the setting? The answer is, pretty well. It's a remarkably pleasant place on a sunny day, with trees shading much of the upper part of the hillside, and small pavilions with benches scattered about as well. Decor includes plenty of exotic fiberglass animals (to match the theme) and some really attractive plantings. It's a nice place to be. Hole layout has some nice variety, including a jump-the-water-hazard (one of us failed to jump it), some dips and ridges, and a very long down-the-slope-and-left that takes great advantage of the location. Some of the natural stones of the hillside pop up as obstacles, while the curving paths do a great job of making the next challenge arrive as a surprise. There are no moving obstacles and no "through the building" challenges either. Honestly, I only realized it in retrospect; I never noticed it at the time. I was surprised that so many holes were par 3; I was not surprised that the winner in our little group finished nine over par... The attendant greeted us cheerfully, and had the putters arranged by size, which was helpful. Since pat b.'s review in 2008, they've added the ability to accept credit cards. I like it. read more

Honestly, what else are you going to do in CT in the summer? Best place in central connecticut. Friday & Saturday night can get a little insane (like, a 30 minute wait to start, with a total of about 1.5-2 hours until you finish), but its a great course. Its obvious the owner takes mucho pride in the place. there's a waterfall and several little water runways, excellent landscaping, and a deck to go hang out for a second. Lots of large animals wandering the course as well (some are even customers). Cash only, no ATM on site. but its only like 5 bucks!!!! This is not your ghetto minigolf by the beach. I'm a fan of playing mini-golf for the technical challenge and my fiancee is new to the game, we found this place via some friends and decided to check it out last month for her birthday with other friends. The grounds looked very nice and kept up, and they even offered a free game for your birthday, which she played on that day since it was her birthday. The course itself isn't too technical, most of the holes were Par 2-3 with some bends and twists and a couple obstacles in the way. The scenery around the holes were done up to look like a safari, with giant giraffes and tigers and such, which she absolutely loved, so that probably helped the experience. It was a bit busy that day so we were behind another party of four and had a couple behind us, but the wait for the next hole was not too long and we played through pretty quickly. It reminded me largely of a place I used to frequent as a child in Ohio and I had actually gone to a couple weeks before when I was out there with my fiancee and she loved it, which got her to playing other mini-golf courses around CT. They do not have any other attractions to play like the place further up the road, so it's just golf, but it is certainly worth a play for couples, families, and people like me who love mini-golf. I went here for the first time ever (!!!) over the weekend with my little sis' from Big Brothers Big Sisters. She had never been mini golfing, and I had a coupon from my Taste book for buy one round get one free. I paid $7.50 for the both of us. The gentleman working at the desk was so friendly and so kind to us. We played our 18 holes within an hour or so. I got a hole in one on hole 18, and because of that, I got a coupon for a free round!! The guy said around 1 in 75 get a hole in one there, so I was prettttty excited! We then got some ice cream at their newly opened ice cream/snack booth! There were picnic tables with umbrellas and shade so you could cool off after playing. I remember years ago my dad brought me here. Not sure if this was really the closest mini golf to us but I loved it despite the car ride. Now I'm bringing my son here and he loves it. It's a clean course and the landscaping is well maintained. The animals on the course have to be old but they look like they are taken care of and still in great condition. The waterfall is a nice feature which always seems to amuse the kids to walk behind. They sell ice cream bars by the cashier and there are vending machines. On those hot and sunny days you could use an ice cream since most of the course is in the sun. There are benches scattered along the course to rest on while waiting for the party in front of you to finish the next hole. Compared to other mini golf courses the price is comparable. You have a chance to win a free game on the 18th hole with a hole in 1. Yes it's possible - I've had to drive back with a free game coupon in hand because of course the young lad wins himself a free game. Of course we'll return.
