There are fun facts about Switzerland all around. The course is beautiful and well maintained. Only thing I would change would be to add more fans/shaded areas. It's really hard for a place to manage to ruin a mini golf experience, but this place figured out a way. The golf course is is great. The holes are interesting and challenging. Unfortunately the two women who run the place were rude, micro-managed our experience, and made everyone in our party feel uncomfortable. My 9 year old son was choosing a putter, and one woman directed him to one that was too short for him. When he politely told her he would like the longer one (he plays golf; he knows how long his putter should be), she told him no and he needed the shorter one. He repeated himself and she condescendingly insisted. I finally jumped in and told him he could choose whatever putter he wanted to use, and she backed off. By the way, I've played golf for 35 years - he was correct. When our group was playing a bit slow, one of the women approached us. Instead of kindly and respectfully asking us to speed up, she instead brought a second scorecard and passive-aggesssively said "your other group already finished. It'll take you at least 45 minutes to finish at the pace you're playing. I brought you another scorecard in case you want to split up into two groups." First of all, splitting up does not speed up mini golf. Second, we finished in approximately 13 minutes. Third, there was nobody within 2 holes of us. Maybe just leave us alone instead of ruining our experience for no reason? Also, nobody doesn't return to a mini golf course because someone in front of them is playing slowly. But nobody returns after that type of experience. A few other things happened after we finished, but I'm tired of writing about these people. Not recommended. read more

This should have been a great experience, but we will not return. As others have said, the staff ruined the easy-going feel of mini-golf by micro-managing every part of our visit. We had the most amazing evening there last night. The staff was great and made us feel right at home. We were on a first date, the lights added to the overall feel of casual fun. I would give this business zero stars if I could. A friend of ours warned us ahead of time that the ladies who worked here were snotty. I wish we had listened. The course itself looks very nice, so we were excited to play. Unfortunately, we had such an awful experience here. The lady working the front desk, who I assume is the owner made our family feel so uncomfortable. She was rude, condescending, pushy, and confrontational. I'm not sure how someone who acts this way toward their customers has been successful at running a business. So sad! We will not be returning. Willkommen to Matterhorn Mini Golf. We walked across the parking lot and saw a stockade fence made from colorful skis. That was our first clue. Then we entered the building to the sound of oom-pa-pa music, and by the time we crossed the threshold, we didn't need any more clues. It was clear we had entered the land of cheese, chocolate, cows, Swiss Army Knives, and goats. Lots of goats. Welcome to Switzerland and Matterhorn Golf, a unique Swiss-themed, miniature golf course. The course was fairly busy yesterday and we were greeted by owner Autumn, who suggested we skip over the few large groups that just started and start the course in the middle where there was some breathing room. She escorted us to our starting spot and we found her to be charming, informative and super friendly. She was accompanied by her dog "Mulligan", the course mascot, and Mulligan was about as cute as cute could be. We've played a lot of mini golf over the years, especially down in the Myrtle Beach area, where there seemed to be one at every traffic light. But I can't tell you the last time we enjoyed a round of mini golf as much as we did yesterday. First, the course is absolutely beautiful. Matterhorn is six years old, but it looks like it opened last week. The colors are absolutely vibrant and in primo condition. The 18 holes (par 45 and $9.77 each) are all themed after various aspects of Swiss culture, geography, food or leisure. So, you'll see a holes with a giant wedge of Swiss cheese, mogul skiing, Toblerone chocolate, the Matterhorn mountain, a tennis court (for Roger Federer), Swiss Army Knives, a St. Bernard rescue dog with a keg, lakes of bright blue artificial turf (and one of water), a 19th hole cuckoo clock, and those goats. There are plenty of goats everywhere, even one on the roof of a shed. They are fiberglass, so you don't have to worry about stepping into goat droppings, although one hole DID have simulated gobs of goat droppings to challenge your putting accuracy. The goats were beautifully painted by a local school or artist. Check out the many photos. It was hot yesterday, but the course has lots of comforts for those hot days in the form of benches, sun shades, fans and a water mist, not to mention soft serve ice cream inside the building. We each scored a Hole in One, me on the Mogul Skiing hole, and my wife on the one with the Church Bell. Sometimes, mini golf can get, how do I say this.... tedious? I've been to Matterhorn a couple of times before and I've had great experiences. However, my recent experience was a little odd. I went on a Sunday afternoon and it was quite cold. Nobody else was there and we decided to go with my extended family member if we played together it would've been a team of six. We had no idea that you could only have a team of four we had no idea it wasn't written anywhere so we decided to meet up with my family after they had started the first hole. Upon starting the first hole, the owner came out and told us that we were not allowed to have a team of six in case other people showed up which I completely understand if it's a very busy day, we would've happily split up the group however we were the only ones in the golf course and continue to be the only ones in the golf course the entire time however we were respectful and split up our teams so we had four and two at the end of our experience. We went back into the building and upon leaving the owner, addressed us again and called us deceitful and said that we were trying to get away with something we knew was not supposed to be happening however we told the owner we really did not know. We had no idea that you could only have four people, and we were happily able to split apart, very odd experience, and kind of hesitating to go back again. read more

Not a very nice owner. Treats customers like there idiots. Made the atmosphere a negative one. Over priced as well. I am sure she will react in a sarcastic response and go on and on about, it That's my point that was her whole persona.my friend picked one little flower , apologized, he was very respectful. I set it it down on the bench to play the next round, she said I discarded it, not the case. But then she went on and on, and kept us there for five minutes lecturing us as if we were children. I felt bad for him. She belittled him . Not a family / fun environment. She recorded us without us, knowing about it, and verbalized every detail of our movements. The course is challenging and pristine. The signs about Switzerland and the information they supply, is actually pretty awesome along with the music and spritzer. At first they seem extremely polite and friendly. However, after two experiences of them complaining about us not following rules, taking too long (not enjoyable) being scolded like a child, not again. Then, to find out we are being recorded and monitored, is just creepy. Why put that information, benches and spritzer there if these things cannot be enjoyed. I am so psyched for a new season of Mini Golf at the Matterhorn with my Jubilee ball! I walked in by myself last summer for a solitary round of golf, that led to my playing several times a week towards the end of the season. The course grounds are immaculate, meticulously and thoughtfully designed w interesting trivia facts about Switzerland throughout. Autumn is welcoming and engaging, her heart went into this course and it shows in its beauty, in its function, in her enthusiasm for your good experience. I love this course, I can't speak highly enough about it, or Autumn. By the way, Autumn planted the flora herself, the landscape is thoughtfully designed for our enjoyment, not desecration. If each customer picked a flower saying 'no big deal', what would the course eventually look like? My wife and I did a tour of mini golf places in northwestern Connecticut this weekend and we agreed this was the best of the four. Being built in 2014, it is relatively new, but even after six years, my parents who live 20 minutes away, had never heard of it. So it seems to still be a bit of an undiscovered gem. We went on a warm, early fall Saturday afternoon, and though it was full of people, it wasn't so much that we had to wait to play or hold up anyone else. The greens are immaculate here, like it was built yesterday. The colors of the decorations and obstacles are popping. And they integrate the symbols of Swiss culture in interesting ways into the holes. (Did I mention this whole place feels like it's sponsored by the Swiss Tourism Board?) There is a toblerone hole where you putt in between the peaks of the chocolate bar. There's a bobseld vs. ski slalom hole. There's a Roger Federer hole with tennis rackets and balls stuck to the green that looks like a modern art exhibit. And at the end, you return your ball by putting it into this combination cuckoo clock/Plinko machine. A great, fun course. Hope to come back. read more

Luckily we were able to come mid day during the week, so we had plenty of space to enjoy the course between groups. Great golf but incredibly rude staff. We were very disappointed in the customer service or lack there of...

Very mixed feelings about this place. I went with my family (3 adults, 5yr old, and 2yr old) The venue was very nicely setup. Lot's of nice touches;local art, animals all over, very thorough theming, fun trivia, ball return via fun pachinko machine, themed lego diorama, etc. The whole point is to have fun with the kids, immerse yourselves and just forget about bills, covid, etc. The holes weren't particularly challenging, but I think the ambiance far outweighed this. Unfortunately two interactions with staff kind of ruined the immersion. First, as soon as you leave the front desk, there's a practice green. Seeing as this was the first time my children minigolfed, I was hoping to warm them up, figure out how to hold the club, and get the general flow of the game down. Before we could even do anything, a staff member walked over and basically shooed us off to the first hole indicating that there were people around us. Here we are not even starting yet, NOT dilly dallying and already the experience was ruined. People can literally walk around us if they so chose with room to spare for those concerned about COVID. The interaction was 'pleasant' and not rude, but still obnoxious and ruined the experience for me. The next interaction had the staff come harangue us again as we finished our first hole. This time, because we were effectively chastised to change how we were playing. We were originally simply letting each person take all their strokes at once rather than having each person alternate strokes. We were assured this was much faster... as if this is why we came to play... to play as fast as humanly possible to maximize throughput on your course.. We were by no means dilly dallying.. but it's a family park catering to folks with children... even small children to the point where my 2yr old had what looked like a small molded hockey stick. I can disregard the high prices ($6 for spectators/child wranglers, $11adults), but this staff interaction truly ruined the experience. I can assure you I am cognizant of my children and how they impact others.. we were not unreasonably slow and the feedback from staff only made me more self conscious and rushed. So much so that we finished 2 holes ahead of the family behind us.. not because of their stroke order. I get that you're trying to run a well oiled machine and you have budget to make, but honestly.. deferring all this nonsense to the customer is not cool. They had a row of surveillance feeds going on behind the desk. I'm guessing this is how they nitpick guests when they get bored. The staff was an older female. I'm guessing the proprietor given how anal they were. Kids had fun, I did not. I don't plan on making a return trip. It's a shame because this place would have been a solid 4star (even with the steep pricing) if not for the staff interaction. I'm still chapped about it. I literally got called out on the furrowed brow I had on while typing this out. It just seemed really oddly nit picky and intrusive; not to mention simply inconsistent with the fact that you're trying to streamline us playing... like I said above, getting a 5/2yr old to focus the 6 times it was their turn at each of the 18 holes being faster than having each child have an extended turn at each hole is patently not reality. The fact that playing by rules didn't actually expedite anything made the 'rules' more micromanagy than generating any meaningful outcome. Finally, calling my group 'multigenerational' is unnecessarily hyperbolic. We were 5 people. 3 adults same age, with 2 small children, two generations. You make it sound like we were an unruly caravan. Like I said, we played respectfully and kept to ourselves. Regardless of what the industry does, and how any of the above information was conveyed (very politely), we still felt rushed, and overly scrutinized when all we wanted to do was play mini golf with children. This can't be an atypical family size; your target audience. When you're pushing people to skip practice putt and intrusively revise how they play for the sake of speed (illogically no less), then HOW you convey the message is not the end all be all. WHAT you're nonverbally conveying to the customer starts becoming salient and unpleasant. read more
