After a round of 19 with my family we enjoyed a late lunch here! I had the Fairview Burger with sweet potato fries. Highly enjoyed the golf and the food hit the spot after a great morning. We will check this place out even if we don't hit the course that day. Nice spot to sit outside and enjoy a view!

A hidden Gem We went…read moreto The Store in Torrington, CT and LOVED it! When we pulled up, Roger (the owner) greeted us outside and directed us where to park. For a second, I honestly thought he was just a friendly guy drinking a beer in the lot, being helpful. Nope he's the owner, and yes, he sets the tone immediately. Inside, the bar was big, comfy, and had that "you're one of us now" vibe. The atmosphere? Awesome. The food? Even better. And the people? REAL. Refreshingly real. Amy was our waitress and we absolutely adored her. My husband is a wise-ass (he thinks it's charming), and she gave it right back to him without missing a beat. My kind of woman. We started with the shrimp cocktail--delish. Caesar salad--yummy. But the star of the night? The prime rib, sitting proudly over garlic mashed potatoes. I still think about it. Honestly, I may have dreams about it. We live in Westport where restaurants are gorgeous... and often crazy expensive and just a tad snotty. The Store felt like we were dining with friends we actually liked. We even got to meet Roger's wife, Dena, who is an absolute gem. She told us how the restaurant got its name a regular at her old place would always tell his wife he was "heading to the store" when he was really heading to the bar. Iconic. I love her already. Of course, I bought a sweatshirt. (I'm a dirty martini girl; I needed merch.) We were headed to the Warner to see a comedian, but honestly, dinner was the warm-up act and it hit just as hard. It's about an hour from Westport--but worth every mile. We're already planning our next ride up to Torrington. This place is a blast!

The poutine hit the spot, fries cooked perfectly, gravy was on point. (I'm a frenchie and love my poutine) The Brussels had the right amount of heat, and were tasty, wish they were a little more crispy but they were flavorful. The Reuben, I would come back for this Reuben alone. Shaved corned beef, lots of flavor, the bread is amazing... The chicken and waffle we did not dive into yet, took it to go so well review that another time The service was great,

We ordered wood-fired garlic knots, Falaco Tacos, the Grinch cocktail (from their Christmas special cocktails), and they accommodated a pineapple soda mocktail request as well. Can't wait to bring family and friends along when they visit. Visit #2 on December 28, 2025 We had friends over from NYC and we came to Greenhouse for lunch. They loved the decor and the food. We ordered 2 x Falaco and 2 x Southwest Black Bean Veggie Burger in food and a coke and sugar cookie cocktail in beverages. [Order total: $84.49 + tip] Everyone enjoyed the vibe, the food, and the service.

JDT's Brickhouse (a.k.a. JDT's on Main) is an American restaurant that opened in Thomaston in…read moreOctober 2011. It was founded by Judy Bradshaw, her daughter Debbie Kaiser, and her daughter-in-law Teri Bradshaw. Together they have over 35 years of experience in the hospitality business. The restaurant space on Main Street in Thomaston had previously been home to Thomaston Pizza & Seafood for several years. For the new endeavor, the partners chose the name 'JDT'. It wasn't just their initials, but also as a loving reference to James Downy Tucker: a beloved family member who passed away in 2009. The menu at JDT's consists of burgers, sandwiches, wraps, tacos, salads, soups, Italian entrees, pasta dishes, New Haven-style pizza, and various appetizers. My family and I visited JDT's this past weekend. We were in town for the 'Light Up Thomaston' Christmas parade and were looking for a place to grab dinner afterwards. We headed inside after the parade and beat the dinner rush. The restaurant had a limited menu to coincide with the parade. My wife and I were in the mood for some Christmas-themed cocktails. I had the "Cinnamon Apple Old Fashioned" (bourbon, apple cider, bitters, cinnamon sugar rim) while she had "The Grinch" (midori, vodka, sprite, lime, cherry garnish). JDT's pizza looked pretty good, but we already had pizza the night before and decided to get sandwiches instead. I had the "Chicken Parm Sub" (with fries) and my wife had the "BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich" (bacon & cheddar with fries). From the Kids Menu, our older son had the "Chicken Nuggets with Fries" while our younger son had the "Mac & Cheese". Everyone was very happy with their choices. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our visit to JDT's. We were interested in going back sometime, but the very next day the owners announced on their website/socials that they have decided to retire and sell the restaurant. We were sorry to hear this, but wish them well on their retirement. Hopefully an interesting new restaurant will replace JDT's.

But inside, it looks welcoming and so clean. There are wooden booths along the walls, with table and chairs in the center. The wall decor is homey and in sections, obviously done with fresh chalk. There's a lot of natural light from the big windows in front, and you get a nice view of the church and ... Well, traffic. The restrooms are single rooms, but also very clean and well attended. The food was delicious. My burger was cooked over medium, as requested, and juicy without being messy. The fries were crispy but in no way overcooked. Our waitress was also very kind - she checked in several times but was in no way overwhelming.

They started us off with wonderful crusty bread with an out of this world seasoned olive oil. Although a garden salad comes with the meals, we chose to order a spinach salad to share and forgo the freebie garden salad and we're sure glad we did! The spinach salad with raspberry vinaigrette was soooo good. It had walnuts, dried cranberries, bacon and blue cheese. The drinks were also awesome (Manhattan & French Martini), and our water glasses were kept filled at all times. Service was spot on as well. My husband had the Surf & Turf. He likes his steak medium rare and his was cooked perfectly. I had the Veal Francese, and it melted in my mouth. Delicious! They offer a choice of baked potato, sweet potato, or rice. We each got a baked potato. On to the ambiance: HURRAY-NO TVs!!! Subtle lighting, soft music playing (Frank Sinatra, etc., really nice) and nice linen tablecloths and napkins. Do not let the unassuming exterior of this restaurant fool you--it's lovely inside. And don't worry about the attached bar--you don't hear a thing in the main dining room--it's as if it wasn't even there. In short, this is a little gem off the beaten path well worth a visit.
