Comedy open mic hosted by Matt Heath
    Quyen T.

I'm a regular here and go at least once a week for the comedy open mic Tuesday nights hosted by Matt Heath. It's a fun time. One of the few open mics where there are people coming in to watch. Don, the owner books a lot of great other weekly events like karaoke on Sunday nights and music open mic on Thursdays. There's also a live music schedule that can be checked out on their website. The place has an old school charm with walls adorned with signed photos of musicians visiting throughout the years. It's a bar you come to hang out with your friends. I will also be putting on a comedy play called Renaissance Men coming this winter! This place really brings people together. Music, comedy, food, beer, friends. What more can you ask for?

    Their current website menu

Called to ask about their Monday fajita platter special that's on their website, and the receptionist rudely said "we don't serve food on Mondays so you're wrong..." I go "okay then that's fine but your website says otherwise". Again rudely they responded "well we don't serve food on Mondays so it needs updating. Bye". A simple question should not get attitude... If you don't like your job lady, work somewhere else.. not hard

Medium rare????? Nope. If you cant cook a burger, stay out of the kitchen please.

The waitress refused to honor my yelp check-in offer (free pint of beer with purchase of entree). She said she had never seen or heard of it before. We did not receive napkins until we asked for them. They were out of onion rings, chicken wings and 10 penny ale?? The food was terrible. I could taste the fact that the friolater grease had not been changed in a while and the bread for my monterey chicken sandwich was 3 times bigger than the chicken breast. My friend ordered a burger cooked medium rare and the picture that I posted provides the evidence of how well that went. I was very disappointed with the service and the food........however...... it was nice to see a place has live blues music on a monday night. They need to hire more than one person for the FOTH because the bartender was the only person there and she was responsible for executing the roles of the host, waitress, and bartender....... And there were about 30 customers within the establishment. Conclusion: We will not be back..... Even if my free pint is offered to me.

I like the huge carafe of ice water and the spicy potato chips! For my first drink, I'm having a Negroni. A negroni is an Italian cocktail, made of equal parts gin, vermouth rosso (red, semi-sweet), and Campari, generally served with ice, and commonly garnished with an orange slice or orange peel. It is considered an apéritif. They also have an Obi Wan Negroni made with Cold Brew Infused Campari instead. For my first food item, I'm having the Cream of Mushroom soup with chicken. Cream of mushroom soup is a simple type of soup where a basic roux is thinned with creamor milk and then mushrooms or mushroom brothare added. This is delicious! It's nice and hot with a lot of shredded chicken. For my entree, I'm having the Brussels Sprout Salad made with shaved Brussels sprouts, spring mix, bacon, pomegranate drizzle, silvered almonds, shaved Parmesan and lemon vinaigrette dressing. Look at the height of this! This tastes great! I am also having a side of mushy peas. Mushy peas are a traditional British side dish of marrowfat peas that are cooked until soft and mashed into a mush. The dish is especially popular in Northern England and the Midlands, and often eaten with fish and chips or served as part of "pie and peas". Here's a quick overview of mushy peas: Ingredients** Traditionally made with dried marrowfat peas, but can be substituted with frozen peas or green split peas. I love this! It's nice and hot.,What a rare treat! This is hard to find anywhere! I'm also having a side of cold slaw. Coleslaw, or "slaw" in North America, is a side dish of shredded cabbage with a vinaigrette or mayo-based dressing. The word "coleslaw" comes from the Dutch term koolsla, meaning "cabbage salad". Recipes vary by region and can include additional ingredients like carrots, apples, raisins, or celery. Coleslaw originated in the Netherlands in the 18th century, but references to similar cabbage salads appear in ancient Greek and Roman medical texts. This is the best! Nice, thick dressing! For my last drink, I'm having a Godfather. The Godfather is a sweet and strong cocktail that blends Scotch whisky and amaretto liqueur. It's typically served in an old-fashioned glass over ice and can be garnished with an orange twist. The drink became popular in the 1970s disco scene and is named after the 1972 film starring Marlon Brando and Al Pacino. Some say bartender Joe Scialom created the Godfather to capture the movie's spirit. This is done just right! Good job! What a great meal here!

Our server came and took our drink orders and provided us with menus. We chose the pretzel sticks that come with beer cheese. Entrees were the chicken tenders with barbecue sauce and the heifer burger minus the jalapeños. Strawberry margaritas completed the order. The pretzel sticks are served piping hot, you can see the steam coming off them as you dip them in the great tasting cheese. The are soft any nicely salted, just the right amount of salt. The chicken tenders arrived covered in a great tasting barbecue sauce. Baby carrots, a side of extra barbecue sauce, and blue cheese completed the dish. There are plenty of tenders in the order, enough so that we took some home for another meal. The barbecue sauce was nice and tangy and complemented the tenders perfectly. The heifer burger was served on a nice soft bun alone with crispy bacon and gorgonzola cheese. Could have had more cheese for my taste but no complaints on what was done with it. The burger was cooked a perfect medium rare and it was well seasoned and very large. It came with a large portion of French fries and pickles on the side. The fries were very crispy and stayed hot throughout the meal. This was definitely a great meal. Service was very good as our server was very attentive and took good care of us. Been here before and we'll be going back. A great place with a large enough menu that everyone should find something they will like.

Just functional. I was there on an NFL Sunday. There were lots of regulars. There was good interaction with the staff. I didn't catch her name, but the woman who was the only person working the bar and waiting on the tables was amazing. She was super friendly to everyone. She hustled to meet everyone's needs. It wouldn't surprise me if she is an owner too. It's hard to find people, who aren't owners, who are that committed. I asked for a wing flavor recommendation and she said "Montreal Honey" first. I ordered 6. The wings are part-baked and then finished in a fryer. Good inner and outer texture. The Montreal Seasoning was right on. The Honey didn't have much of a presence either visually or flavor-wise. More was needed to balance the salt from the Montreal Seasoning and to justify the Honey in the name. I tried both the Blue Cheese and the Ranch. I'd recommend the Blue Cheese. I'll definitely return to try more wing flavors. I also ordered a crock of chili, which was full of ground beef and topped with melted cheddar and chopped red onions. The chili was solid. I'd probably try something else before I ordered it again though. I'm a fan of Hideaway and I'll be back. 4.25 Stars

The hostess, who was on was very new, and I don't think she fully understood what I was asking. She ended up telling me that, Yes it was a normal beef Wellington. Cool, so excited, don't see those often. We get there, I order it because I already asked for clarification and didn't think I'd need to ask a second time. As we were waiting for our food, I saw some dishes come out from the table across from us and the waitress said, "Here is your beef Wellington". I realized that it was a concept of beef Wellington, but not a traditional beef Wellington, which is what I'd been worried about. We hadn't seen our server in a while so I went over to the bar and let them know that I wanted to cancel my order because it just wasn't what I wanted and the price tag was $60. I've been willing to pay that if it was what I had my heart set on, but it wasn't. They said they would cancel it. In a little bit, someone then came over, not our waitress, to tell me that I will be charged half of the price of the beef Wellington because I canceled it and it was already made. And of course, I was not OK with that. I once again explained to them that I had called and asked if it was a traditional beef Wellington and was told that yes it was. They said that the hosts are not trained on the menu so they cannot answer questions on them. I then asked what is the point of having someone who is untrained on the menu answer your phones because sometimes people are going to ask questions before they choose to come to a restaurant. I refused to pay the $30, she stated she would have to call the manager back because the manager was not on premises that day and see what she could do. In the meantime, they brought out the beef Wellington that they made and tried to entice me to eat it and I of course said no thank you. Finally, they told me I didn't have to pay. I ordered the stew appetizer. It was very small but tasty, and I was pretty hungry at that point so I'm glad I ordered it. Not sure I'd try this place again, but maybe if I lived closer. Not having a manager on premises really made it tough, it was a massive waiting game to get an answer, and I've never heard of a place blame the customer for their knowledge gaps. I definitely will not be going out of my way to come here again.
