Came here after a day in Manchester geocaching & flying kites with the kids. We were famished and in search of pizza. When the place we tried to go to had a 30 minute wait, we ventured to restaurant.com and ended up here. From the outside appearance, I wasn't sure if this place would be appropriate for kids, and after 9pm it's probably not, but at 6pm it was fine and the inside was actually nicely appointed for a meal. We were sat, and immediately the host asked if we were using a restaurant.com certificate (they must get alot), i replied, "Yes", and we were handed "coupon menus". Coupon menus?? WTF. I asked my brother-in-law to reach behind him and get me a "regular" menu, as i suspected they were raising the prices or something. They weren't, phew! But they were restricting some of the higher priced dishes, like Filet Mignon. If one were to use a $25 GC from restaurant.com, and order the filet, and 2 beers, you could walk out w/ tax & tip for about $16 (that's a steal). So we settled on shared apps for the table. Buffalo wings, nachos & sausage grinder. Everything was pretty delicious. The wings were perfectly spicy and crispy, but still tender & juicy on the inside. The sausage grinder had great flavor, and the sauce was really good. The nachos were exactly how nachos should be, piled high, still crispy and not drowned in toppings, but not skimped either. Service wasn't exactly outgoing, but was prompt & courteous. $33 w/ tax & tip after our $25 GC, not a bad deal. If i'm in the area i would return.

One of my favorite bar/restaurants in the area. Classic; been here for years. Food is great always home-made with fresh ingredients. NEW to the menu (on occasion) is smoked bar-b-que. Really, really good! Yesterday I had smoked St. Louis ribs. So good, so juicy that you don't even need to use your hands to eat. The meat literally falls off the bone with just a fork. Getting hungry again just thinking about it. Homemade baked beans and French fries out of this world. Another nice touch, you can get a half size order. Try it sometime. Pretty sure you're gonna enjoy. Check ahead though to make sure bbq is on the menu for that day.

Back in the day bar. Like going back in time. Definitely a locals bar. but they were very friendly to this non-local. I wasn't planning on eating and then I found Escargot on the menu. Snails are very difficult to find these days. They were baked in a ceramic dish with cheese, butter and tons of garlic. They were delicious and there had to be at least 10 pieces. It is also served with two pieces of sourdough like toast that is great for dipping in the sauce. They have a nice selection of craft drafts. The barkeep is super friendly and did the follow-up that is rare to find these days. Nice ambiance. Plenty of off street parking in the rear.

The menu and prices for brunch were clear and an exceptional value! I got a hot tea and a Bloody Mary which was tasty! Then I got the eggs Benedict which were good. The potatoes could have been diced smaller. We shared our space with another party, which was fine. My only complaint was the A/C was soooo cold it cooled our food off very quickly as well as us.

From the moment we arrived, the front desk area felt disorganized and overcrowded. The young hostesses were not very welcoming and didn't greet guests with a smile or provide direction on where to stand or wait, which made the entrance experience awkward and chaotic. There is no bathroom downstairs so you would have to go upstairs for the restrooms The restaurant was offering a $70 prefix menu, which honestly did not feel worth the cost. For that price, you only received soup or salad, an entrée, and dessert. I really think an appetizer should have been included considering the price point, especially for a special occasion like Mother's Day. We were seated downstairs near the kitchen, and it was extremely warm and uncomfortable down there during the meal. On a positive note, the service itself was fairly quick, and our waiter was very attentive and friendly, which was appreciated. Overall though, the atmosphere, organization, and value for the money left us disappointed. This did not include drinks and automatic gratuity was included in the bill since we had a party of 6.

Tried again, better but still lacking…read more Been a while since I've been to this location. Decided to give them another try and see if things have improved. Place was dead when I wandered in. Just myself and a couple other patrons at far sides of the place. Bartender was playing waitress as well. Very nice but very casual. Opted for their fruit juice mocktail and the jammin burger with loaded fries. Food and drink came out quick, so I took my pics and dug in. The mocktail was pretty much orange and pineapple juice with a fruit garnish. It was fine for what you got, and the price was reasonable at 4 bucks. Nothing special, but something to sip on if you're with company. The burger was executed flawlessly. Cooked well, not seasoned but done so with intention. The buttered bun and jam were salty to begin with, so they chose to unseason the burger, relying on the condiments to balance the dish out. The chef has skill, and you can tell it by their preparation. The trouble was the quality of the ingredients. The burger is straight ground meat, pressed to a patty and frozen. The chef did what they could to gussy up the burger, but was working with ingredients they could not control. When they had control in the ingredients and preparation, they put in care. The actual burger patty was very much the biggest detriment to the dish. The fries were good, cheap cheese and bagged fries but ample amounts of toppings and cooked perfectly. Good, but there's evidence that there could be something better. As a chain location tied to a bowling alley, it's perfectly fine pub bites. The servers are nice, but I feel that the chef is constrained. If given the opportunity, the chef could produce some magic on the plates. but they are stuck to the playbook, the source ingredients and the margins they need to stay in. That cheapens the food to cookie cutter molds and is a crying shame. The foods acceptable, the staff is good, and the venue is clean. One day I hope they can shed the chain and let the chef take the wheel. till then though, it's okay

Fries, wings, pizzas, burgers etc. While you're bowling a server comes to take your food and drink orders so you don't have to leave your lane. Service has been good and I've had a birthday party there and it's so great to have the server handle the food, drinks, party supplies and helping with the arcade area. Ambiance is very chilled. It's a typical bar but has seating and tables if you don't or can't sit at the bar with children. It's clean. Staff is great. Quick service. I don't mind eating there when we're at the bowling alley.

Then on top of that, I ordered a drink far from my norm. All that, and I was still blown away! Upon entering, I loved the open environment and how it still managed to feel cozy, comforting and warm. It was relatively busy, though more steady business than anything too crazy. Everyone seemed super passionate, intentional, and focused in everything they did, while still being friendly and creating a welcoming environment. That's impressive and rare. Now for my order. I knew that I needed to try one of their baked goods, as I always monitor their weekly rotating menus. So, I went with their gluten free & vegan mocha cake with espresso glaze. Then for my coffee. I am normally an iced latte in the largest size possible kind of girl. And I'm hesitant/picky with mocha/chocolate coffee. However, as part of their 10 year anniversary festivities, they were offering a chocolate birthday cake latte, composed specifically and intentionally as a 12 ounce hot latte. I wasn't exactly setting them up for success by ordering this! But, I just knew it would be special, and oh my goodness was it! Special doesn't even feel strong enough a word. The flavor was so deep and developed. It was rich and indulgent tasting, but drank light. It was a marvel. I got strong notes of both cake and chocolate, and I don't typically think flavors pop as easily in hot drinks versus iced ones. I could not believe how good this drink was. The latte art aspect was incredible of course as well. It was so clear how talented this team is. The mocha cake was also exceptional. Super moist while still having a pleasant crumb. Great chocolate flavor, neither too dark nor light. Not super sweet. Great espresso glaze. It was one of the best chocolate cakes I've ever had. For pastry and baked goods, though, I do love the combo of chocolate and coffee. I absolutely cannot wait to return to Silk City Coffee. I am kicking myself for not getting here sooner. I have only heard amazing things about the people behind it as well. This is a must try spot, especially if you're a CT coffee lover. Don't be afraid to trust them either! I'm so glad I did! Easy 10/10.
