I ordered a cappuccino, but what I got was nothing close to it. First of all, the coffee was burnt completely over-extracted and bitter. Second, it wasn't even a real cappuccino. It was basically just a latte, but priced higher. Isn't a cappuccino supposed to have just foam and two shots of espresso? If you don't know how to make it properly, why is it even on the menu? I mean, the place is really cool and a beautiful area but the guy helping wasn't so nice and when I asked to make the cappuccino, not too hot, he even repeated it and said OK no problem when I got the cappuccino it was scorching hot. Came here alone during midterm week to study at a new cafe, and I usually always get a matcha latte. I understand that usually coffee shops specialize in coffee and not non-coffee drinks, but I was super disappointed with the matcha latte I recieved. The color of the matcha itself was beautiful however you can see in the pictures that it just was not blended together at all. Any sip I would take would be tiny balls of bitter matcha powder, and even though I had bought syrup as well, there was little to none sweetness. I even went home early from studying to try and use my frother to mix it further, but it was no use when it wasn't mixed correctly in the first place. It was early in the morning and only one or two other people already seated. The cashier was nice and when I asked for a suggestion she advised ordering the breakfast sandwich because the turkey sausage was house made. I also ordered a chai tea latte. Food came quickly and she brought it to my table but the food and drinks were not good. The bread and eggs were great but that sausage was so bad. Maybe turkey sausage is supposed to taste like cardboard for healthy reasons? I had to take it out and then the rest of the sandwich was decent. The lost bean is a place you might come to for convenience, not because it is good. I ordered a chai latte today and it was watered down and gross. As far as food goes, they have very basic options to select from and the food quality isn't great. I really wasn't pleased with how my food came out today. My bacon and scrambled eggs came out way overcooked. I only ate half of one piece of bacon and then threw it out. The service wasn't amazing either. I waited a lot longer for my chai latte (that only required powder and milk) than for my entire meal. Not pleased to say the least. read more

Used to love this place. Unfortunately, I have dog allergies and a customer brought their large, active husky dog (not a service animal) in and let it bounce around next to my table, shedding and trying to lick things, hitting me with its tail. I asked her to please take it outside if it wasn't going to sit still and she ignored me. I asked for help from staff, explaining my allergy (ADA protected, by the way) and was simply told "well we allow pets." Didn't say anything to the dog owner, no offer to help me locate a new table, nothing. Just "deal with it" attitude. I left at once and will never be back. Coffee isn't worth risking an allergic reaction and dealing with an unruly animal almost as large as me. Good to know this place prioritizes badly behaved pets over the health and comfort of paying customers. There are places with way better allergy friendly & hygienic policies in the area and I will be spending my money with them instead. read more

The Lost Bean is a solid coffee shop. They make great drinks and scrumptious brunch. The entire menu is pretty pricey, so I wouldn't go here often, but so far everything has tasted delicious. I've tried an iced La Paz a while ago and a hot Mocha more recently. I prefer the Mocha because I could taste the balanced blend of coffee, chocolate, and dairy substitute (forgot which one it was), whereas the La Paz seemed more like a bland latte. The frittatas are decent, and I have yet to try their thick quiches, which look heavenly. One of these days I'll have to get a slice! Staff are friendly and helpful. Rly good food and drinks but I went on a Saturday morning and boy oh boy was it disorganized but it wasn't the staffs fault. Rather, customers were not aware or paying attention and grabbing someone else's food orders as they didn't have tickets with names on them. I watched two ladies grab some other dudes orders and then complain that they weren't to go - well it wasn't your order so... it is pretty noisy as the sounds just bounce off the walls inside so don't come for a quiet study time if you have a couple loud talkers. The employees have great attitudes and kept their smiles up through the madness. They must be used to it. Good job to them! read more

I was visiting the area and decided to stop by The Lost Bean for breakfast and coffee. I ordered an iced hazelnut oat latte which was really good, and also got the breakfast burrito. It had just cheese, eggs, and potatoes in it, but it didn't really have any flavor. It was super oily and the potato was overpowering, so I wouldn't get this if I were to return. The Lost Bean has two things I can't resist: latte art and avocado toast. Located in the Woodbridge area in the same plaza as Barnes and Nobles and AMC, the businesses in this small plaza has changed so much throughout the years. This makes quite a nice addition to the area. The ambiance and decor is really nice. There is indoor seating and outdoor seating. Looks like a good place for the local college students to study or for friends to meet up and catch up. I had the Avocado Toast ($8.50) which comes with toasted sourdough bread, avocado, turi-kaki seasoning, radishes... and I added a sunny side up egg (additional $2) as I always do when it is an option. I also ordered a small Vanilla Lavender Latte ($5.25). Since I decided to dine there, I was given a number tag to place at my table... Interestingly enough my food comes out and I waited a while and no drink. I went inside to check and the drink was at the counter the whole time. A bit inconsistent. The avocado toast came with a side of salad. I felt like the salad was overly dressed and didn't care too much for it. The avocado toast was super super BLAND. I got some salt and pepper packets from the self serve area to sprinkle a tiny bit of salt and plenty of pepper over my avocado toast and egg. I really enjoyed the design on my latte. Probably the best thing about the overall experience. Taste was decent, but I did not taste the syrup. Syrup is an extra charge so I expect to taste the flavors I picked. If I come back I feel better off just getting a plain latte. This place is relatively convenient for me to come back to, so I probably will be back. But I wouldn't recommend anyone coming out of their way to try it. read more

First time coming to this place yesterday. I saw the quiche on the display and thought it looked delicious, so we tried it out. It was good- only con would be that it was very oily. But definitely tasted homemade to me. For a drink, I got the blended monkey mocha, half sweet. I asked for it decaf but they cannot make this drink without caffeine, unfortunately. That is a bummer because I don't always want to pump the caffeine into my blood along with the sugar. Nonetheless, I ordered it anyways. It was very good- just the right amount of sweet (at 50% normal amount). My mom got the caramel macchiato. She tends to be very picky about her coffee, and even she said that they made it very well! High praise coming from her. The quiche was $6.50 and the monkey mocha was $5.50, I believe. They had 2 bathrooms, which was also appreciated. I would give this place a 4.5 stars and would return! Only thing keeping from a 5 star is that I couldn't order my blended drink decaf. read more

What a lovely spot. I came by wanting to try a new place and had lots of questions asking about their most popular items and what was in them. The girl at the register was so nice. She answered all my questions with a smile and recommended items they were known for. I selected a La Paz coffee, 1/2 caff with oat milk. It was a really good drink. Very smooth. I also splurged and got a s'more cookie. It was delicious. Not overly sweet like s'mores can sometimes be. It was just right. There were lots of folks there working on their laptops but I chose to enjoy the outside area, which over looks a lovely little courtyard. A great place to study, get some work done or quietly chat with your friends in a clean and modern setting while having some coffee and quiche! The Lost Bean has a very large seating area. The have a good amount of seating inside and then even more seating outside. There's an adjacent play area outside where your kids can dwindle their human batteries and let their energy out. The interior is modern, bright, and clean. They have coffee, tea and blended drinks but they also serve breakfast burritos, breakfast sandwiches, french toast, and oatmeal, along with sandwiches, wraps and salads for lunch. Iced Latte w/Rose Flavoring ($4.00 for 12 oz, $4.50 for 16 oz, add $.75 for flavor syrup) - I enjoyed my Iced Rose Latte with a couple of pumps of simple syrup. The beans don't jump out as much as some other coffee places that specialize in single origin drinks, but I didn't have any complaints with my drink. Even slow sipping it for 45 minutes, the drink still held up well. The rose flavor was medium, not bold. If you like a very strong rose presence, then have them add in an extra pump of flavoring. I might request that extra pump next time, or maybe go bold and try a Banana Latte. If I was local to the Woodbridge area, I would love just sitting here and contemplating with my introverted self.
