Not only they did not cook the burger as requested medium well they failed to ask what else can be done to make a right after I returned it and told them I didn't have time to wait for a new burger. Then I had to pull teeth to get my money back. Handicap accessibility just as bad they just did a new remodel and failed repeat failed to make it truly accessible tables for somebody in a wheelchair. I had a poor customer service experience a month ago so I decided to eliminate the service side of it and order go pizza. I called and a young lady answered and immediately put me on hold. Six minutes later no one picked up. Called back and was put on hold and was hung up on in a minute and a half. When I arrived at the restaurant I placed my order and watched a half dozed calls come in and she put them all on hold with zero intention of picking them up. Watched her put one caller on hold and walked back into the kitchen in a minute. Management couldn't care less. The only explanation is ownership doesn't care either. I've been going to this Loop since I was a child, and I've always received topnotch, quality service from this location. They've recently renovated it to change the booths and tables, although they took away the large booth in the corner and made one long table instead of multiple smaller ones, which is annoying if you're a slightly larger party and the table is already taken, as you have to split up between the smaller booths. Otherwise the Loop is always a solid place to go for pizza, burgers, chicken sandwiches and salads. I love the bbq bacon chicken sandwich, although the bbq sauce is very hot, so proceed with caution if you don't like spice or heat! My one complaint has been one I've had for years, (I even boycotted The Loop for a while over it, not even joking haha), and that's the removal of the deep dish pizza. The Loop's deep dish pizza was honestly one of the best pizzas I've had, I would get it every single time we went here. Years ago they decided to go to the thin crust only, and my heart was shattered into a million pieces. I get the thin crust every now and then, but it's just not the same. Ok. I was wrong. They do have a TV I guess in the back section I was not privy to with the playoff game on. This is a takeout place. We dined in and was asked to pay for everything up front before sitting down. Well how do I know if I wasn't going to order another drink? Or desert? Drinks are by the bottle. The one thing I can complement is the crust. I liked the crust and the right amount of sauce on it. It's more like a Ci Cis. That's what it reminded me of. Just more expensive. This loop will always get 5 stars from me. I've been coming to this location since I was very little, long enough to see their menu change from hotdogs to pizzas. Despite the menu changes, there's something nostalgic in the fact that the interior has not changed AT ALL since I was little, but still manages to be clean and without wear-and-tear. Their menu is great, I hear a lot of raves about the pizza but to be honest, I've never (in 24 years!) had it! Their burgers are phenomenal, fries are always well-cooked, and their shakes are big enough for two. But let's talk about the main event: chicken Caesar wrap, tomato bisque, and blue cheese chips. Far and away my top three menu items. Each have been consistently top-notch quality since I started ordering the trio in middle school (yeah, you read that right), and i have zero complaints about the experience dining. The staff, which has always been phenomenal, has actually IMPROVED in recent years, coming by your table regularly to take dishes and check on you. All around, I couldn't recommend the Loop enough. I was very disappointed, not an adult in sight the place was completely run by young kids (teenagers) no one told me that it was a self service style restaurant, that's not the kind of restaurant I was looking for, but I can look past that. I ordered a bacon burger medium well. The order to quite a long time to come out, when it did finally come out, the burger wasn't medium well it was more than well done, Burnt. When I picked up the burger, the entire bun was greasy, I didn't complain, I tried eating it anyway, I had to use a plethora of napkins because of the amount of grease on my hands from the bun, the burger had no flavor. The toppings were lackluster. I ordered some sort of blue cheese chips with it because I really like those at other restaurants. Those were not that bad, however served how they were served on top of parchment paper in the tray, didn't serve them well because they were very much stuck to the paper. I ordered a beer to go along with my burger, and I believe for what the offering was in the setting of the restaurant and atmosphere at the price was way too high. This was my first visit to this location and it was a very good one. I work across the street and my office ordered lunch and I put in the order. The woman who helped me was friendly, efficient and our order was PERFECT! I had a burger and it was fantastic. They nailed medium rare, and the bacon on my burger was perfect too. After hearing from several friends about their burgers, we bit the bullet and ordered burgers for our lunch on our way out of town today. My husband ordered his burger medium well with cheddar cheese, ketchup and mustard with a side of fries. I ordered burger medium well with cheddar cheese, ketchup, mayo, tomato, onion and pickle with a side of onion rings. OH MY! They were the absolute juiciest, most flavorful and satisfying hamburgers we have EVER eaten! We both savored every single bite. Yummy! Plus, the sides (fries and onion rings) were perfect! The onion rings come with a dipping sauce that made already delicious rings even more fabulous. We will definitely order next time we are in town. I recently had the pleasure of eating at the Loop for the first time the last time I was in Jacksonville. I have to say, I was a big fan! It's the perfect spot for lunch, and the menu offers the perfect array of choices to please everyone. Whether you want a burger, pizza or want to keep it healthy with a soup or salad, the Loop has it all. I chose to go with the Asian wrap and the tomato bisque soup, and I was extremely happy with my selection. The wrap was delicious, and the bisque was one of the best I've ever had. I could totally understand if they were swamped, but they weren't even 1/4 full. Just seemed like everyone in the kitchen was taking their sweet time, no sense of urgency. i can understand a 25 minute wait time if I went to a full-service restaurant ike Applebee's or Chili's, but not a self-order sandwich joint. Once upon a time, The Loop was one of the best restaurants in Fruit Cove. The burgers were huge and juicy, the service was nonexistent, and the clientele were locals. It was the quintessential greasy spoon and watering hole--truly a great establishment. In the intervening decade or so, only the third remains true. The Loop has opened a new location and civilized itself considerably. They now employ servers, the burgers are drier, smaller, and meet health code regulations, and they offer healthy salads and wine. In the process, I feel the place has lost a lot of the charm it used to have. The portion sizes and prices seem to be going in opposite directions. The management is polite, and the food is consistent, but every time I go back home it feels a little less local. That being said, it's still something of a community hangout, primarily for the middle and high school kids. The last few times I've been, a few benches have been falling apart, and a growing neighborhood of flies is in evidence. It's worth a try, but The Loop becomes more of a chain and less of a local place every time I've been there. read more

I love the Loop and their food but this is probably my least favorite location. I've given them a few chances but they just don't seem to be on the same level as a lot of other locations. For example, I was in last week while I was making a few evening stops in Mandarin. First of all, the parking lot is awful. Lots of pot holes and uneven spots and very little parking in front of the restaurant (it was raining on my most recent visit so it was particularly annoying). I had been craving a burger so I went with the Loop burger. The service was on the slow side (especially considering it was pretty empty). When I visit the Loop on Southside at lunch time (when the store is full) food comes out faster. When my burger did come out, it was much greasier than I remember the Loop burger ever being. I don't eat red meat a lot so when I want a burger or a steak, I want a good one. I generally consider the Loop's burgers to be really good but this was just blah. If I wanted a really greasy, messy burger, I would have gone to 5 Guys down the street, ya know? I do like their ice (I know, it's weird but it just tastes better!) and certain menu items can't be beat (tomato bisque soup for example) but I find this location to be below par. Yea, it seems like this Loop isn't the Loop to be at. Now we went right after the lunch rush so I can understand a little mess. But no ice and the tea wasn't that great either. Service was SLOOOWWWW. We ordered a Cajun Chicken Wrap with mixed greens, roma tomatoes and green onions with grilled cajun chicken and a honey mustard sauce. It was okay, but I don't think I will order it again. Now what I will order again is the Creamy Tomato Basil soup. Yummy....... I think I will stick closer to home and try another Loop out here. read more

I have eaten at the loop for years now. They make amazing pizzas, and hamburgers. I usually order a burger as there is a lack of amazing burger joints in Jacksonville without having to drive some distance. But one of my favorites from the loop is their homemade milkshakes. I absolutely LOVE this place. I was introduced to this place about 9 years ago b/c it has "the good ice" and I do not have one single bad thing to say about it. First of all, the food, it's the type of place where you order, they give you a buzzer, you take your seat and your food comes out. I travel a lot and this has become one of my families go-to places while I'm away, however I was lucky enough to join them this week. I'm told its not as 'fancy' as the one by Julington Creek where we live, but they like the atmosphere at this one better. I must say, what a pleasant surprise this turned out to be! The menu is simple, yet has a good variety and unlike many places, they don't try to over-do-it. For my first visit I went with the chicken sandwich and broccoli as a side; the chicken was juicy, flavorful and tender, the veggies were fresh and the bun was good. The broccoli was perfect, not soggy or soft! I stole a few fries from the kids and those are good too. :) Also, the sauce, a honey-mustard, was on the side, which is very nice. Lastly, I too liked the laid back environment and the staff was friendly, helpful and good natured. Ordered the All American with chips and a strawberry shake. The ordering was simple with the very pleasant girl at the counter. My guest and I didn't wait long at all to receive our order. We were just finishing our pleasantries when the buzzer for our table went off The burger was cooked to a perfect medium well with a nice touch of char to really get the grilled flavor. Two slices of cheese where enough to taste in every bite. I opted to forgo veggies so my review will lack in that perspective. The chips had a nice homemade, rustic crunch without being too hard and dry like the grocery store variety. I couldn't place the seasoning but it was a nice change from regular salt and it in no way overpowered the chip. The milkshake was thick but not so much to collapse the straw. Every few bites of burger were instantly cleansed with a smooth pull of strawberry goodness. It was not too cloying or over sugary. Also, no chunks or other annoyances that you find with most hand dipped places. What didn't fit in the glass was nicely placed to the side in a metal tumbler with a spoon that allowed another shake to be poured. You could even say it's a two for one deal with every shake. The only negative was that the booths are attached to each other but not to the floor. Meaning the back of my seat was also the back to the seat of the diner behind me, so when I slid up and out of my seat to get a straw I accidentally slid the booth with the poor girl behind me going for a ride as well. I would eat here again but three stars was given because I wasn't offended but I wasn't amazed either. The five star review has gone the way of the standing ovation; extremely overused. The Loop is doing everything right. There are some who are doing worse, there are some who are doing better. For a $14 price tag for lunch though, I'll probably go elsewhere. read more

I have been going to the Loop for years. It is consistently good. The burgers they serve are the best in Jacksonville. I love their steak fries almost as much as I love their burgers. The nice thing about their burgers is that you can order them any way you want. If you go there you have to try their milkshakes. They are wonderful. I used to be a big fan of The Loop and was sad to see the one by my house at Beach/San Pablo close a few years. I was in Mandarin recently and decided to give this one a try. It was a Monday night and was pretty busy. Two adult burgers, two kids meals. The food came out in a reasonable time. The burgers were good like I remember. The kids chicken tenders are just Sysco prebreaded frozen pieces, so thats a little disappointing. But overall the food was fine and not an issue. The biggest problem I had was the cleanliness of lack thereof. The inside was borderline disgusting. The floors were slimy like they hadn't been scrubbed in months. The area near the drink machine was a mess and there was ice and water everywhere. We went to sit at a table and there was macaroni and cheese on one of the chairs. The bathroom was revolting. For anybody with a weak stomach, stop reading now. When I went to take my son to the restroom, I noticed puke behind the toilet. It looked like someone had thrown up in the bathroom and the staff at this restaurant cleaned up some of it and mopped up the rest behind the toilet. I normally wouldn't give many chains 4 stars, but they do the food and service part better than most, so that gives them an extra star in my opinion. Good burgers, good salads, good pizza. It's counter style, so expect to order at the register and pick up your own food and drinks. I appreciate any place who cooks my burger medium rare, and offers blue cheese on it. Their homemade chips with blue cheese are the bomb. I love the Crunchy Brocolli salad. And the Portebello and Bacon pizza makes me happy. My only pet peeve is they don't seem to bus or wipe down tables quickly when they are busy, so you'll walk in to several with plates still hanging out. And this seems to be at any location, so it must be a staffing or expectations issue. However, I've never waited on a clean table, so it's not a deal breaker. read more

Having grown up in the Jacksonville area, The Loop Pizza Grill has always been a staple for my family. Growing up, I always had more of the kid friendly items - hamburger and fries, pizza, etc. As an adult, I have really become a fan of their salads and their tomato bisque. I've been to Loops all over town, and I visit this one pretty often since I live in Mandarin. I do find this one is probably my least favorite of all the Loops I visited. It always feels "dirty"... know what I mean? Floor is sticky, tables and seats have crumbs everywhere... just not well kept. I don't seem to have that feeling at other Loops... On my most recent visit here, they messed up my order. I took it back, and they replaced the incorrect item... but then simply scraped off the fries from my first plate and put them on the second plate instead of giving me new food all around. This resulted in about half the normal amount of fries (and I had not eaten any from the first plate). They also "re-used" the tomato, onion, and lettuce from my first plate (easy to tell since all these items on the new plate were wilted). I so totally hate when a restaurant does that! If I messed up ordering, and they graciously fix it... I'm way more forgiving of re-using items from the previous plate. But when THEY mess up, they should replace the whole thing. Right? Is that totally wrong to expect? So they saved about 50 cents worth of food, but ended up with a disappointed (REGULAR) customer. Sad. I probably would have given 2 stars for this visit, but based on all my previous visits and general like of The Loop, I gave them 3 stars. read more
