Little gift from our waitress
Kim I.

Let me start off by saying this is airport food guys.. you aren't gonna get the ultimate dining experience because even tho this is a sit down restaurant they move quickly and efficiently that it feels like quick service. Everyone talks about how horrific the food was but I can only write on behalf of our two items, the mahi mahi tacos were flavored well and not dry at all, I did love the sauce it came with, just well put together with that fresh cilantro. Then the spicy crispy chicken was well liked by my husband and our waitress which I am butcher her name "Manet" was attentive, polite and always checked on us to make sure we were doing ok. Overall it's a good spot to grab something before you head out, don't make this your first meal when you arrive in Oahu.. that's why you flew all this way over here. This is where you stop to say goodbye gorgeous Oahu, thanks for the memories. The area is spacious so plenty of room to charge your phones, bring your luggage.. make the most of it right? Our waitress spread some aloha by gifting us some pineapple gummy candy and we left happy, bellies full and ready to go back home. Mahalo for your hospitality!

Good seating, nice service and huge portions of reliable local eats The burger with fries was best as was loco moco. Didn't really like the Mac salad Also enjoyed Kalua pork nachos- huge- spicy cheese which I like

Kama'aina omelet - they ignored my request to add sriracha or anything for heat

How does The Local have such a low rating on Yelp? For an airport place, it's pretty great. Prices are a bit lower than on Waikiki; food is unimaginative and not the most flavorful but just fine (especially considering you're in an airport, for Heaven's sake). Decent selection of eats, cooked to order and big portions. The service that we experienced (you order on your phone and they bring it to you and check on you constantly) was really terrific - on par with that at a fine-dining place. And the view of the Japanese Garden - well, how are you going to do better than that in an airport anywhere?

Poke was great considering it's an airport restaurant. The staff were friendly. The Krab Club was 1/10 do not recommend.

Loco Moco

Next time you leave the island out of HNL swing by The Local for some local-style food. I usually grab something on my way to the airport but today I was rushing and did not have the time. Lucky for me, the TSA Pre-Check line was empty. The loco moco was huge and almost couldn't finish it. Decent for airport food. Take out and eat the rest on the flight back.

Pretty good for an airport restaurant. Especially when compared to pricing at the Burger King. Spend the extra couple bucks and get the better food before you are eating stale crackers on a 5 hour flight. View looks out onto the beautiful courtyard of the Honolulu airport. waitress was friendly and efficient. Food was a good portion size and very tasty. I wasn't sure what to expect, but was very pleasantly surprised.

Beyond Burger and Loco Moco
Heather G.

Came here before our trip to LA. Waitress was an older aunty who wasn't very enthusiastic to be there. We ordered through our phones, my partner got the Loco Moco and I got the Beyond Burger. The Loco Moco was decent. I thought the gravy was good! It was rich and thick. I didnt try the patty but the mac salad felt heavy and not very tasty. The Beyond Burger was very disappointing. Not sure how but the patty was slightly raw, and pink in the middle. I highly recommend if you order this to ask for your patty to be cooked a bit more! The fries were even more disappointing. They were definitely not fresh, and soggy. Not sure if they were even left under a warming lamp. I love fries so this ruined my meal. A few years ago when I ate meat I had the pork burger which I remember to be good, but not sure if thats the case anymore!

We always eat here when we come to the airport only because it's convenient place to sit and relax before our flight. I've tried practically everything on the menu and the loco moco is my favorite. Their nachos are pretty good and so are their burgers for an airport. Obviously airport prices but we always have great service here. Wish they had more options but Honolulu airport is NOT one of those nice airports that have great restaurant options.

Mahi Mahi fish tacos

Came here because it was close to our gate. Our server was very nice and accommodating but the service there wasn't that great. And by service I mean internet service. I guess the establishment is pushing for QR codes and ordering/paying online except for the fact that it's almost a dead zone there with no free wifi. We had the hardest time loading the menu online (they were no pictures of the food we were ordering) so it was a little discouraging since I wasn't sure what I was going to get. Every time I added an order to the cart, something will happen and the server wouldn't load anymore. It'll prompt me to reload and when I do, I loose the item(s) I had previously added to my cart. At this point our server said she'll place the items in for us and all we'll have to do was pay online. We assumed it'll all work out. We ordered the pull pork nachos which was so delicious and the mahi mahi fish tacos (both recommended by our server). The tacos were a little too plain for me and I didn't like that the order came with plain chips. Overall the pull pork nachos were the best. While we were waiting for our order we noticed that everyone was having problems ordering/playing online. Luckily we were able to pay online and leave. Because of the lack of wifi in the establishment we were there for so much longer than we anticipated. I would come back because the nachos were good and our server was so sweet! But only if they figure out their situation.

Great Loco Moco
Chie J.

I had a low expectations because of the low Yelp reviews. But it was not bad at all for the airport option. Service - Friendly and attentive A++ Food - everyone tasted ok. Loved Loco Moco! Drinks - straightforward For the airport, I'll give 3.7 stars!

Really irritated service... Wanted a quick snack so my wifey decided to try this place since we had almost 2 hrs before our flight. So I scanned the QR code on the table, tried to place the order online and got an error. So I tried again to no avail. So we called the server who said that she had to clear the previous tab, and to try again. In the meantime, we asked for 2 waters. I tried a 3rd time and got another error. When showing the server the error, she was very irritated but took our order. Food came after a while, and later when my wife asked for more water, she didn't even look, then came back to our table and kind of banged to cup on the table! Sheesh ... while I get someone might be having a bad day or something, but seem like this wasn't our fault ... we pay the airport price and get this kind of service...

I've only gone bowling there a handful of times, but I've gone for the food more times than I can count. Most of the time, we order takeout and eat at home. It's nice inside, but it can get crowded, so takeout is usually our go-to. My boyfriend got the tasty chicken and kalbi mixed plate, and I got the tasty chicken and furikake ahi. If you go there, you have to try the tasty chicken. The portions are huge! At first, I wondered why they didn't fully close my plate, but it was packed so full that it could barely close! The portions overall are massive. Two mixed plates and a side of garlic fries turned into dinner plus two extra meals. The tossed salad was good, and even as someone who's picky about mac salad, I thought theirs was really good. The garlic fries were also crisp to perfection. I'm also obsessed with their strawberry and lemon crunch cakes. They're soft with the perfect amount of toffee crunch. I've brought them to work a few times, and they've always been a crowd favorite. This place is comfort food for us. Huge portions, consistently good food, and a spot that keeps us coming back!

So, when a hair was found in my daughters cheesecake it was a bit shocking! The waiter recognized the grotesque error in production and immediately ask is she wolike another slice. She agreed and was presented with the hair free 8.50 version. It is common practice to not only provide the option of replacing the product for the customer but to remove the charge for the hair laced food from the bill. This action not only expresses the restaurants remorse but signifies their desire to keep you as a returning customer. Unfortunately this did not occur nor was any Kama' Aina discount applied (resident discount). Curious to know if the assumption that we, African Americans, are not aware of the rights a d wrongs in the service industry. Nonetheless, as a travel provider for tourists here in Hawaii, I will not longer recommend or refer tourists to Nico's pier 38 from this day forward. So sad. I expected more from this Honolulu establishment.

The happy hour dishes were wonderful, especially the manapuas! The spicy pork cheese manapua were great and a bit different. The chasui manapua were delicious. Location: Kitchen Deja Vu is located inside the Blue Tropix Bar & Grill, which just so happens to be right across the Chili's from Pearlridge Center. Parking: Plenty! You can park anywhere in the Pearlridge Center parking lot Food: We ordered 5 items 1) pan fried pork cheese buns: 10/10 - pillowy soft bread expertly soaks up all the juices from the pork filling, perfectly pan fried bottom adds a bit of crunchy texture, pork filling was seasoned well and there was a decent amount of cheese inside as well (it was giving pizza flavor vibes), supposedly "spicy" but it wasn't too bad at all so this would be good even for those with a low spice tolerance 2) pulehu style short ribs: 10/10 - incredible smoked and grilled flavor, cooked and seasoned to perfection! They're not stingy either, nice portion size and a hearty amount of meat on each short rib too 3) big shrimp potstickers: 11/10 - succulent pork & shrimp filling filled to the brim of wrapper! Very on brand because these buggahs was massive and sooo tasty! Classic potsticker taste and there's a whole shrimp in there too, paired with their shoyu vinegar (I think) sauce and wooo this one was winnnahz ‍ 4) charsui udon: 10/10 - nice & chewy udon noodles and absolutely loaded with charsui and veggies that were so wonderfully stir fried allowing them to soften just a little but remain crispy, adding another layer of texture to the dish and ensuring you get a nice little crunch in every bite! 5) kau yuk (caramelized pork belly): 10/10 - big chunks of sweet & savory pork belly, but not as sweet as the name would have you think. It's actually perfectly balanced, you can definitely taste some authentic asian spices going on in there, and the meat was nice and tender Service: 11/10 We ordered take out but you can absolutely dine in if you wanted to, plenty of booths and/or tables to choose from. But I did wanna mention that we were lucky enough to meet Charlie, the owner! Really nice guy, after we gave him our order, our server Kyle took such good care of us. Checked in on us multiple times & offered to get us some water while waiting for our food. Overall: 10/10 Food was delicious, the chefs obviously know what's good, hats off to them! First time trying this place out and it didn't disappoint and love that you can also order directly from your phone through all major food delivery apps or you can even text your order in, how convenient!

My father and brother are both military veterans and enjoyed the fact that this venue was situated at a golf course they patronized before. We all ordered drinks--I ordered a bottle of wine, taking advantage of the Half-off Wine Wednesdays; some tried the alcohol specials and others simply elected to have soda. I ordered a few appetizers for the table and those went quickly: calamari, bruschetta, and artichoke dip. Yum! Main entrees followed and everyone seemed to enjoy their selections. We ordered dessert and were disappointed that they ran out of creme brulee...my father ordered the cheesecake and thoroughly enjoyed it.
