What a cool find. After and afternoon of touring a few wineries in the North Georgia , Jasper area, our group was in the mood for some seafood. So Yelp to the rescue. We headed over to The Last Catch - Seafood Restaurant. Pretty much right in the middle of downtown Jasper GA this establishment is very casual with cool nautical motif. It has a nice selection of various entrées. From fried, grilled and blackened shrimp, flounder and quite a few others. Our server was awesome. Always there filling the water glasses and attending to ever need. And absolutely fell in love with the pups. Lol. We dined out on the patio , which is mostly covered and so the pups could stay with us. So nice that it was pet friendly. Some of this entrées that we ordered were the, Seafood Platter, Crab cakes, Fried Shrimp Platter, and Grilled Shrimp Platter to name a few! All were deliciously amazing! But no room for dessert. Lol A perfect ending to a delightful day after touring the wineries of North Georgia. Thank you Last Catch, for a wonderful meal.

Thought it was about time to try this restaurant last week and I was not disappointed. Met some family there since it was everyone's first time we tried a wide array of items. We tried the crab dip, literally some of the best I have ever had. We each got an entree and we all enjoyed our food. The service was top notch!! The ambience was very expected looked like a standard fish house. They have booths although I will say they aren't very comfortable. Otherwise I will be back the next time I come through town.

We like to get right to the point with our reviews so here goes...if you live in Jasper definitely visit The Last Catch. Local folks need your support. If you're passing through as we were consider traveling a few more miles for an alternative meal. On the good side the meal overall was decent with a couple hits and some misses. On the positive side was the complimentary fish dip. Smooth pate style fish mixed with a hint of horseradish sauce. We started with the she crab soup which was outstanding. It was creamy and every spoonful was loaded with crab. We ordered the platter for dinner. It was ok. For $26 we were served two small fish filets, five amazing fried oysters, two perfectly grilled scallops, four so-so shrimp, one basic crab cake, and two overdone hush puppies. They offer an ok bottled beer and wine selection. Service was friendly and efficient. Note-credit cards are charged 2 1/2% service fee. Overall it was ok.

Enjoyed coming back again. Service was decent, but not as enjoyable and attentive as our last visit. Our drinks weren't refilled nor offered our entire time there. My wife and I both got the seafood comnination platter with fish, shrimp, scallops, oysters, stuffed crab, hushpuppies, fries, and coleslaw. Food was fresh and serving size moderate for the price. Slaw was creamy style and quite good. The we enjoyed our meals, our favorite part were the seasoned fries, cooked and seasoned to perfection. Wish there were more to help fill the plate better. BEWARE, our check was accurate. However, when it was returned with our credit card slip, a $1.44 processing fee (penalty) was added for paying by credit card rather than cash. We do enjoy The Last Catch, so I am sure we'll be back.

My $10 meal...what a great deal!

Had a very pleasant experience here tonight! We were hungry after a trip to Fausett Farms and Fainting Goat Vineyard. This was only 15 min away so we gave it a try. Our server, Hannah, was very nice, helpful and sweet all the way through. We were given a complimentary small dish of crab dip with crackers, a nice appetizer! Had good chunks of crab meat, cheddar, and white sauce (mayo?) Not sure but it was really good. We ordered the flounder sandwiches. I didn't pay attention to the pics, but I was surprised to see my entree! It was quite ample, with two whole baguettes sliced in half as the "sandwich." It was almost about the size of a Subway footlong, pretty big! It came with coleslaw (some ppl said bland, but I appreciate how it wasn't overly sauced up) and I got the red rice as a side, yum. I got the she crab soup and it was hot and so tasty. Worth the $5. We really enjoyed our meal! The seating was all these booths in a long row so it felt a bit private. The owner and other wait staff also checked in on us, it felt like they really cared about the dining experience. Would come back again :)

Service good, friendly and welcoming staff. I had the fried shrimp with homemade fries. It was very good. It was served with sweet cold slaw. My husband liked it but I prefer a mayo, salt and pepper slaw. My husband had the flounder sandwich and he eat every bit! We would eat here again.

We've eaten here three times already because it's that good!! Everything's made with fresh, local ingredients and you can tell from the first bite. First time for brunch, and most recent times for dinner. Service has been excellent every time we've gone. The pork chop was one of the best I've had in a very long time - full of flavor and oh so tender. It's French-cut, and comes with poached apples from a nearby orchard, Reece's, as well as a butternut squash puree and some brussels sprouts. The scallop & pork belly risotto was also excellent and came with a lemon saffron risotto and perfectly seared scallops. They offer indoor, bar, and patio seating.

It completely exceeded my expectations, and I've honestly been thinking about going back just to have it again. The fish was incredibly fresh--tender, flaky, and practically melted in my mouth. The breading was on another level: perfectly crisp, well-seasoned, and full of flavor. It paired really well with the beer-battered fries, which were also excellent. The portion size was massive. At first, the price seemed a bit high, but once the plate came out, it felt like a great value for the amount of food you get. We went during lunch, and it was fairly busy, so service was a bit slow. That might've been more understandable, but there were a few moments where our server seemed idle while we were still waiting, which stretched the meal longer than we would've liked. That said, she was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, so it balanced out somewhat. Overall, it was a great experience. The food alone makes it well worth a visit, and I'd definitely come back.

It opened…read morenearly a year ago, just down the road from our house and haven't had the opportunity to try it until this week, but have always noticed the lines out door and the packed parking lot. Friday, we decided to go for a late lunch pick up. Let me say again... we only live about three miles from the restaurant. We arrive, it's around 3pm and the place is PACKED. It's an adorable place. Great ambiance, totally welcoming when you come in the door. They've got nice outdoor seating as well, with cornhole games and lighting. Nice touch, especially on a beautiful day. Walking in, we were greeted by the clerk at the register and informed it would be a 20 minute wait, which was fine. This having been our first time there, we both decided to order the sampler platter, which was one catfish filet, two chicken tenders, three shrimp, fries, and a hush puppy. For $16.99, it's a pretty good deal! We also ordered a side of cheese grits to try. The clerk was in the process of leaving and did so after taking our order. We waited. People came in after us and we watched them get their food before us. 15 minutes...20 minutes...30 minutes... finally about 35 minutes later, they come out with our order. We left. Drove the three miles home and opened the boxes. Everything was cold. Not Luke warm. Cold. Waiting that long doesn't bother me. But I do expect after that long, that the food be fresh. The fries had gone soggy, the batter on the fish, chicken, and shrimp were also soggy and starting to fall off. It was obvious that our food had been ready for a bit and then sat back there longer than necessary. And this is where my husband and I part ways on opinion... I do NOT generally care for catfish. Never have. I actually had asked the first clerk if I could sub that part out for flounder, but she said, no. I'm glad she did. Hands down, best catfish experience ever, even though it was cold and falling apart. Zero muddy, off taste that I normally associate with catfish. It honestly was delicious and if that's what it's like cold, then I can only imagine how good it would be fresh. I also liked the shrimp, the chicken, and the hush puppy- although I will say... I was a bit disappointed to see there was only one, it to be fair, it was gigantic. It was NOT soggy, so I don't know what happened there. Anyway, the hush puppy was crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside with bits of corn throughout. The shrimp, though I liked it, lacked a bit on seasoning and I can say the same about the chicken. That said, the chicken was juicy and tender. Not quite Gus's or Gutheries quality, but head and shoulders above Zaxby's or Huey Magoos. I could honestly take or leave the fries but that's me... I don't particularly like crinkle cuts, especially after they've gone soggy, which is why I don't like Zaxby's. My husband, however, was disappointed overall. The only thing we agreed on was that the catfish was really good, but he did point out that between the fish, chicken, and shrimp, they all had the exact same batter...the catfish just carried it better. I did love the grits and would pick that as my side over the fries. Just a matter of preference, there. Here's the thing- we do our best to support local, small businesses, pointedly ones who are veteran owned, and recognize that small businesses, in particular, are especially vulnerable to bad or off days. Based on all the reviews from people we personally know, we're positive that's exactly what happened to us on Friday. So, in light of that experience, I'm giving it 3 stars with the promise that we will try again and I will edit this review to reflect that second experience. Overall for me, I'd go back for the catfish any day and they showed me how good that one thing can be when it's done right. As for my husband and his opinion of the other items... I pointed out that it's not called Brookton SHRIMP OR CHICKEN School. Catfish is what they specialize in, and as far as I'm concerned, they nailed it.

It is a 20 mile 45 minute drive for us and honestly we would drive twice as far for it. It is that good! $45 for a bucket of catfish. That is 6 pieces of catfish (fried to perfection may I add), 2 large sides, and hush puppies. It is at least 2 meals for us (most of the time 3). That averages out to either 11.25 per person (2 meals) or 6.70 per person (3 meals). You can't eat nasty processed fast food for that price anymore so I don't understand those complaining about price. These catfish remind me of the rio-vista from long ago.

We stopped by for lunch and were really impressed with the quality of the food and the great customer service we received. We started our meal with the crab dip and hush puppies and it was a great start to our meal. Everything arrived warm and fresh and delicious and great for sharing. For our entree we ordered the special pasta of the day which was a pesto sauce pasta with chicken and the shrimp and grits. Two completely different types of dishes and both were absolutely FANTASTIC! The pesto sauce of the pasta dish was one of the best pesto sauces we have had in a really long time. Absolutely delicious. The shrimp and grits was just perfection the very best grits I've also had in a long time. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and the whole dish was so full of flavor. Truly one of the best dishes I've had in a long time. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals, everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. Best part - the restaurant was so affordable (especially for a seafood restaurant) which we loved as well. We have dined at many expensive seafood restaurants over the years and most are simply overpriced and the food is usually ok but not wow by any means. I can truly say the food at this restaurant was WOW, and at a great price point. The shrimp and grits was only $17 for a large plate of delicious food it was 100% worth it and more. Service was great as well, everyone was very friendly and attentive, and made great recommendations for dishes to try. Overall, one of the best dining experiences we have had in some time. First good sign: the bartender had classic bartender energy. Easy to talk to and good at what he does. Looking at the menu, I immediately noticed some French touches, including escargot, which you almost never see around here. I had to try it. It wasn't the best escargot I've ever had, but when a place in Canton is putting it on the menu, you give them credit for the effort. The real reason I came in was the oysters. I'm a big Roberto's in downtown Woodstock fan, which I consider the oyster mecca of the area. So I was curious if Canton had anything comparable. To their credit, Going Coastal actually does oysters properly. Not just the usual generic stuff. They had Murder Points, which tells me someone in the kitchen cares about quality and sourcing. I also ordered a piece of fish. They cook it to order and let you choose how you want it prepared. Some people want the chef's call, others like control. Either way, the execution was solid and the flavors worked. Bottom line: this is a good seafood spot. The best seafood option in Canton.
