I went to this spot with my wife and her parents. Overall, this restaurant offered a variety of seafood options and tastes. The food was flavorful and appetizing. As an starter, we ordered the steamed oysters. They turned out good, but definitely not some of the better oysters I've had (just average). That honor is reserved for a couple other seafood restaurants in the state of Georgia. While the food turned out decent, the service was a little slow and not all the staff were wearing masks. Family owned and operated I believe but that's what we feel like when we go there. This is a precious little seafood restaurant in the middle of a quaint little town. Traveling through Jasper around dinner time, decided to give The Last Catch a try. For appetizers, we chose the clam chowder (delicious!) and fried calamari - it's huge, make sure you have others with you to help with this one, we felt bad we couldn't eat it all!!! Our entrees: Fried shrimp / crab platter and a salad with blackened shrimp, all very good. The menu descriptions had us wondering about a SC connection, and sure enough, there's a sweet love story in this restaurant's history, with its roots in Charleston. And last but not least, the atmosphere is so pleasant, with Kim's loyal staff who work really hard and clearly enjoy their jobs. So, first I need to say I'm rarely a five star rater. 4 is for great experience and 5 is for find your momma, slap her, and then apologize by taking her out to eat at the restaurant you just slapped her for since it was so good. This restaurant was....nice. Atmosphere is great, kinda looks like they went out and found every single decoration for ship and salt life out there, but still cute. They have outdoor seating that we did not get to enjoy due to the weather. The indoor seating was more than enough for us. Bathroom was clean and cute. Okay, now the important stuff. The She Crab soup is tasty! Not the best I've ever had in my life, but I would order it again....if they were out of the clam chowder. My hubby ordered that and I was jealous. It was uniquely good. Very home made tasting. Definitely NOT a straight out of can taste. Husband ordered the fried catfish basket and....meh. Nothing too impressive there. The batter was flavorless. The fries were steak fries....I was curious what home fries meant....it means steak fries. Hush puppies were bland and rock hard. I ordered the blackened mahi mahi sandwich and steak fries. (See pic) it was very very good! Unfortunately for me we were splitting our meals 50/50 so I didn't get to eat all of the sandwich and had half of his bland, less than impressive catfish....but he was grateful he didn't have to eat all of the catfish and miss out on the mahi mahi sandwich! This place is a hidden jewel in the North Georgia Mountains. The trendy Atlanta restaurants could come learn how to prepare fish here. The calamari was breaded and fried to perfection along with being large slices and a very generous portion. The calamari was perfectly cooked to where it was not tough at all. My fried platter was seasoned perfectly and everything tasted as it should. The shrimp and scallops were perfection! The flounder fillet was moist and flakey as it should be. Had dinner at The Last Catch tonight and maybe I didn't eat what others have had to eat that has rendered five star reviews but maybe I'm a little harder to please with seafood. I had three and a half star food, but the extremely good service brought it to four. For one thing, I didn't eat any fried foods, and that might be what really shines at The Last Catch. It's hard to beat good fried seafood. For starters I had the cold shrimp appetizer. They were big 'ol prawns that didn't have a ton of shrimp flavor and might have been slightly overcooked, but they had size and were plump & moist. For my meal I had grilled catfish, slaw, hush puppies and mixed veggies (squash and zucchini). Slaw was solid, old style. Pretty good. The veggies were cooked right and there were a LOT of them, but once again they needed a little bit more flavor with butter and/or seasoning. Catfish was really good and fresh cooked. Texture and flavor were good. Hush puppies were good as well. For desert I had their banana pudding, which was very decadent and rich. I should have had coffe with it, it'd have been even better. Beer selection was also solid for this neck of the woods. I had a couple of Jekyll Island IPA's on draft. The servers and hostess were so polite, sweet, and timely. The concept of eating fresh seafood in the mountains is so cool to me! You can't find it very often in the mountains, so daily shipments of fresh fish is so nice. We are visiting from out of town. We decided we wanted catfish for dinner. The parking was convenient. We were seated as soon as we walked in. The waiter was pleasant. It was a party of 3. We all ordered fried catfish plate. Two guests asked that their fish be fried hard. It wasn't a long wait for the food. The food was hot. Surprise! Delicious seafood in the North GA Mountains. I stopped by Last Catch for 2 reasons. Good Yelp reviews and it was one of the few places open between 2 and 5 in Jasper on a week day. I ordered grilled shrimp over salad with ginger dressing. The portion and flavor was excellent. So was the service. Also, for what it's worth, the clientele were all really nice too. I could overhear lots of compliments on the food and positive interactions with the servers. Overall, a great experience and I highly recommend if you are in the area. I drove about 30 min for a late lunch and it was definitely worth the drive. Oh, and one note of caution -- no changing table in the women's restroom, but that just requires a slight bit of McGuivering that most mom's have handled before. Service here has always been excellent we have ate here 4 times and the last time we ate there was with a gift certificate we won. The food is very half par the only meal here I could boast about was a blackened coconut shrimp but it's hard to go wrong with coconut shrimp. What a wonderful place, with great food and with wonderful people. My mother-in-law turned 101 and despite their policy to only take reservations for groups of 8 they reserved a table for us. My wife and I had dinner here last week. The ambience is sort of country in style. The food however is just great. Yes, some of the accoutrements are plain but food was plentiful and tasty. I had the Shimp dinner, and my wife had the fried oyster dinner. The baked potato was nice and hot, and the hush puppies were and nice touch. There was so many shrimp that I could not finish them all and the oysters were the same in quantity. All were just A1 in taste and the restaurants cleanliness score was in the high nineties. The only thing that I found to be lacking was the crab dip appetizer. A very small portion of and served with cellphone wrapped crackers. Other than that, we will certainly be back again. read more

The seafood is always good and fresh. My husband loves calamari, so we always get it for an appetizer... so good! The gave us a complimentary crab dip which was also good. It was seasoned differently than the typical crab dip, but enjoyed it and it had plenty of crab in it. My husband always gets the seafood platter and I get the shrimp. I always take half my dinner home, since I filled up on the appetizers. If you're a meat lover, their prime rib looks really good. It seems pretty popular and is served only on Fridays and Saturdays. The service is always on point and the prices are reasonable. We always recommended The Last Catch to friends and they love it too! It's definitely worth the 40 min drive from Woodstock. So, this year we decided to do it again and wee drove from Kennesaw to Jasper to spend our 51st wedding anniversary just so we could eat at The Last Catch. They were very busy but greeted us and seated us immediately. We loved the complimentary dip and crackers to begin our meal...delicious! Our server was friendly and kept our drinks filled.
