The shells were like chewy cardboard. The service was decent and the people were nice, but most of the food that came to our table just wasn't very good... Let's talk about Overhyped based on reviews and glorified chipotle. Busy sunday afternoon when all the restaurants around this restaurant are fully packed and this place only has one other table should be an immediate red flag. But our curiosity based on reviews and menu options got us to decide on this place. We seated ourselves as place was basically empty. Ordered Rattlesnake Bites(corn), chips and queso and waffle fried with Mojo mayo! For the main course, 4 of us got different entrees. I got the smashed burger with hill country on bed of nachos, my wife is vegetarian so she got the grilled avocado with Fajita Cantina on bowl of buttered lime rice. Our friends got Brisket on hacienda and then had switch it to hill country as the hacienda had tomatoes in queso and bowl of buttered lime rice and smoked chicken with buttered lime rice. None of the entries had any flavor. Hill country tasted like only BBQ sauce and there was not even a hint of mole. Brisket was fine but damp rice made the entree subpar Grilled avocado wqs grilled and again the rice was damp. Smoked Chicken was hard as well. Appetizers were the only good part of experience. Waitress stopped by and asked us if everything was good, my wife said food was mediocre. There was nothing done to make it right. I managed to finish mine but rest of them left the restaurant without finishing and hungry. 14$+ for an entree and it lacked anything to write about. We were in the mood for bbq one night however it was getting late and all the major bbq spots were closing soon so I looked this place up on Yelp. It's not traditional bbq but they do have a couple options on the menu. I ordered the brisket pile of nachos and hubby had the beer battered fried ribs. His ribs were really good and my nachos were just ok. They did give a nice portion but nothing wowed me, the cocktails were pretty standard too. Our server was nice and attentive, but nothing stood out here to make me come back again. The only thing I'd recommend are the ribs if you do try this restaurant! read more

We dined here one evening. When we arrived, they said we could be seated and someone would come help us. It took several minutes, but we finally placed drink orders. There was mainly one server for dining area and a bar server. We asked some questions about menu and ordered. I have no words...but will see what comes out. Our waitress was super sweet and welcoming. She took our drink and appetizer order and made recommendations and everything from there went down hill. The bartender came over and seemed out of it, also showing signs of being in a fight. We heard the story later of the injuries. But I think the only drink that came out correctly was the beer. The Dr Pepper old fashioned, was straight burbon. The Ranch Water that others ordered first showed up as a tequila shot. When we asked about the rest DJ the cocktail, he brought them a glass of lime juice and a bottle of Topo Chico. We joked about it being a deconstructed Ranch Water, as part of the experience at the restaurant to make it yourself. Then saw a hair in the lime juice...and we were done. When we'd walked up to the restaurant we wondered why there weren't any other people there, but restaurants on both sides had guests. Now we understood why. The guacamole and chips were good. The salsa had no flavor other than tomato and the queso texture felt off, maybe not fully melted, not sure. We got the check and went to one of the neighboring restaurants. There were several bases that allow for different types of meals - bun, salad, tortilla, rice, and chips. The styles were all in the south/south-west flavor profile (bbq, Tex-mex, So-Cal...) Our family of four all enjoyed what we ordered - from southwest smash burger, to beef fajita rice bowl, and BBQ brisket nachos. The Hill Country Smoked Chicken Rice Bowl made of Slow Smoked Chicken Thighs on a bed of buttered lime rice topped with Cheddar Cheese, Chopped Dill Pickles, Southern Slaw, Chopped fresh Jalapeno, White Onion and drizzled with House-made Mole BBQ Sauce was the best dish we tried. Saw this spot opened up and have been wanting to try it! Glad I did! First off the staff behind the counter were so hospitable and made GREAT recommendations! Also they have a kids menu so bring the kids! Food was phenomenal! I ordered the deep fried ribs and mayo fries as my meal and my wife got the brisket nachos with queso! There is a lot to be said for the queso! Flavors galore! Everything appears to be made from scratch and the ribs were so tender and juicy and drizzled with 6666 ranch BBQ sauce! Ambiance is fantastic and we sat outside on this beautiful fall Texas day! There's a full bar that's half outside and in. We will definitely be back on a date night. My husband and I recently visited KickBack BBQ in Plano, TX, and loved the whole experience, from the fun, relaxed atmosphere to our very delicious meal. Avoid this place. Fruit flys everywhere! The food was extremely poor quality. Had: Rib appetizer this was extremely bad it was a battered St. Louis rib deep fried. Tried to take a bite and all the batter fell off. The menu was very interested and I ordered the Burnt End Vaca Frita & The Ranch Hand as a drink. The Burnt End Vaca Frita (I rate it a 2 out of 5) was too salty - specifically, the burnt ends and Quebano mayo were too salty. However, I did enjoy the sweet plantains that were added to the bowl. Additionally, I was not a fan of the Ranch Hand drink because I had to mix it myself and the agave syrup was a bit overwhelming in the drink. I mentioned it to the server (that never refilled our drinks) and was told ,"I'm so sorry that happened". But never offered to address the issue. As my wife was eating her bowl, she bit on something that was extremely hard. She found what she bit, and it ended up being a piece of metal in the food with extremely sharp edges. It was about the size of a fingernail. This could've been a disaster but thankfully she bit down on it before she ate the piece of metal. Can't believe that was in the food. read more

We came here on Sunday evening and loved our experience! We ordered the chopped brisket in a Martin's sandwich, hill country style and the Burnt End Vaca Fritta over buttered rice, Cuban style. Both were delicious but the Burnt End Vaca Fritta was our favorite, it was so flavorful! We also got the Mojo Mayo fries, these could have used a bit more salt / sauce, but were still good. The food was great! Who knew my favorite cheeseburger would be at a Mexican/bbq fusion place? Smashburger was delicious and my husband got the burnt ends SoCal style and he loved it. I got the Dr. Pepper cake to go and just wanted to try "one little bite" in the car on the way home and ended up eating the whole thing. Service was a little slow...for refills, we had to get up and go up to the front to ask for them (at least 3 times), and it wasn't busy at all while we were there so that could definitely use improvement (or a self serve station). First time at the Plano Granite Park location. The service and operations need a lot of work. It was noon and there were several tables of employees from the local businesses. While the web site says that you are to order at the counter, everyone was told to wait at their tables. The 2 servers could not handle the flow. I was so thirsty but could not get a refill on my drink. During the entire lunch, the server only approached the table to drop off the food and ask for payment. No receipt was offered. Other larger tables got their meals delivered over a 15 minute period. Quite awkward. They also wanted their drinks refilled but got nothing. Food was OK but my salad was pretty low on brisket and full of lettuce and onions. A table next to us finally left because no one was taking their order. After reading a few positive reviews and a positive review on Nextdoor decided to give it a try for a girlfriend's birthday. I was so embarrassed that it was my recommendation! I had the carne asada fajita style over rice, very very bland. The others had equally un noteworthy and flavorless dishes as well. I asked for some type of salsa when we finally saw our waitress and was told that was none. And the waitress, for a restaurant to be this empty, we had to wait five minutes before she returned to get ONE plastic fork and napkin setup, even though there were 3 of us sitting at our table.
