The first visit I ordered the El Jefe and it was great! Brisket was tender and fatty, sausage was perfect. Went back yesterday and ordered it again. Terrible! Brisket cold, too dry, sandwich soggy. Not sure I'll go back and try something else, sure won't be the El Jefe!

A nice setup, and an exciting feature for a grocery store. Unfortunately the food isn't very good. The barbecue sauces are over-sweetened, the turkey is over-salted, the collard greens are nearly inedible due to salt, coleslaw tastes old and wilted. But the real cardinal sin here is that the brisket doesn't have much flavor. Sorry guys, I won't be coming back - even if I'm in the grocery store and hungry for BBQ, I'd still go down the road for something better.

    Burned cornbread.

So inconsistent with their food, quality, and service. I do NOT recommend TTBBQ! Go elsewhere! I tried it 4 times and there were issues all 4 times. The best and most consistent item on their menu is the Coke from the fountain machine. I walked in at 8:40 to place a to go order and they told me they were closed (9:00pm). I convinced them to let me place an order, and after spending $55.00 for meat, they told me after taking my money that they were out of just about everything I ordered. They decided to substitute different meats and sides because they ran out, only they didn't tell me. I walked out of there with about $10 worth of meat that I didn't order and about $45 worth of desserts that I didn't order either. Tonight they burned our 2 cornbreads to a black char. I couldn't believe they had the nerve to serve this! The outsides were black and the insides were crunchy and as dry as can be. GROSS! The first 2 times I went, they ran out of every meat I wanted to order, and it was before 7:00pm. It is also very overpriced too. Too inconsistent and poor service & quality for me. Moving on to better BBQ from now on.

Still, if we had not been getting carryout, it seemed like a pleasant place to sit down and eat, too. This is order at the counter service, and they were happy to explain things to this non-native. Everything was carefully packed to maintain temperature and avoid spills. I enjoyed the brisket with spicy sauce, though I have since heard some people really prefer the moist type, I think dry was right for me. I got a side of coleslaw so I could get my veggies in; it had a creamy yet not too heavy dressing. The stuffed potato was tasty, especially with all the recommended toppings, but it was the size of a small football! I had to put half of it in the fridge.

My favorite part of the whole experience was the sausage (how do you mess that up?) and the potato salad. I think I'm just finding that it's better to smoke your own meats at home. Half the price and 100x better. Service also wasn't the best. Lady at the register was dead inside. I could tell this was the last place she wanted to be today. Side note: waving your hand in the air to call my attention when I am not looking your direction is no way of letting a line of people know you are ready to take their order. "Next guest, please!" goes a long way. Possibly why she was so irritated when I finally got to the counter.

This is a tiny operation. Mostly a kitchen with a small storefront. You can barely fit 5 people inside. It's meant to be to go with online orders available or walkins. Navigating between placing an order there or if you're coming for an online order, it's about the same since you won't fit inside if people are doing walkup and waiting on their order to be prepped. If they can expedite that pickup experience imo it would help a lot. I'm usually ok waiting but at a bbq joint waiting behind people getting their meats cut and orders assembled adds time. So the food. Well the brisket is not bad. Personally I eat non halal so have had good brisket at the top dogs. I'd put it on par with Rudy's or tenders. Don't go expecting Hutchens or Lockhart. The sauce was pretty good, tangy and peppery. The sides were great. I had creamed corn which was unique and delicious, and then serrano coleslaw which was a nice twist. Be wary that some of the to go containers of Cole slaw were not properly filled (its self grab) so grab a full one. I have many friends and relatives that only eat halal so being able to share decent Texas bbq with them is great. I also want to try the lamb and beef back ribs which is not something you get at the other places. So the menu is unique enough that I will be back to try these other items.

We got a family meal for 6. Comes with 3 meats, 3 sides, bread and all the condiments. The portions are quite generous. Sausage, smoked chicken, collard greens, and baked beans were 100! Brisket was over cooked and razor thin cut. We will be back!

Here is the review with the burger worked in…read more --- I spent today at Brisket School at Vaqueros BBQ, and it was my Father's Day gift. The class was taught by the great Trey Sanchez. Let me start with the most important thing I can tell you. If you have never eaten at Vaqueros, you are missing out. Vaqueros and Hutchins are the two best BBQ joints in Collin County. But Vaqueros has a twist. Their barbecue is competition grade, and they also happen to run one of the Top 50 taco spots in the entire state. Do not take my word for it. Ask Texas Monthly. Want to know why the tacos are that good? It is the brisket. Trey uses every last ounce of it. The trimmings end up in the sausage, the burgers, the tacos, and the consomé de res. They go into the tallow too, and if you ever order the fries, you will understand. You will want more. His suadero tacos are something special, and that is just the beginning of the menu. Speaking of burgers, do not skip his. It is outstanding, and it is made with, if you guessed brisket, you would be right. So here is my advice. If you are thinking about wandering next door to Village Burger Bar, stop. Get a burger from Trey instead. His beef is ground fresh daily, and the pickles and the mustard are made in house. It is in a different league. Now the class itself. What Trey taught me about trimming a brisket, treating it like a steak, seasoning it, and wrapping it, those are lessons any wannabe pitmaster will cherish for life. And here is the part nobody warns you about. Trey is a phenomenal storyteller. He knows everyone in the Texas barbecue world, and his stories alone are worth the price of admission. Let us talk about the food. Do you love barbecue? Vaqueros has it. Brisket, ribs, turkey, and two kinds of sausage, and every one of them is excellent. The smoked pork carnitas are pure heaven. Looking for something a little different? Get the brisket nachos. They come loaded with chopped brisket, queso, beans, pico, and all the fixings. Fifteen dollars. You can feed a family of four with one order. They have beer, margaritas, and a bourbon lemonade that is genuinely fantastic. I will say it one more time. You are missing out if you have not been. Tell him Brian sent you.

Thankfully, there was plenty of shade from umbrellas, and it was a great spot for people-watching with lots of foot traffic passing by. Now for the important part--the BBQ. My son and I split the two-meat plate with brisket, pork ribs, mac and cheese, and beans. The brisket was legit--moist, flavorful, and with a nice bark, although I would have liked it a little crispier. The pork ribs were just okay; they were a bit on the dry side. That said, their BBQ sauce was excellent. I'm usually not one to sauce good ribs, but in this case it definitely elevated them. The mac and cheese was probably the biggest surprise. It was rich and gooey, topped with feta, chives, and shredded cheddar. Not a combination I would have expected--or ordered--but somehow it really worked. The only real disappointment was the beans. They arrived cold and were a bit bland, especially by Texas BBQ standards. Overall, it was a solid 4-star experience. The brisket alone is worth trying, and I'd definitely come back to work my way through more of the menu.

The biggest issue for us was the ordering system. Everyone has to scan a QR code, place their own order, and enter their phone number. For a large group, this became very confusing because when the food came out, there was no clear way to tell who ordered what. We spent a lot of time trying to figure out which dishes belonged to each person. If you're coming with a big party, I definitely recommend making a list of everyone's orders ahead of time so it's easier to organize when the food arrives. The food itself was extremely spicy. Most of the BBQ items -- seafood, chicken, beef, and pork -- seemed to have the same heavy cumin and spicy seasoning, so the flavors started tasting very similar. Personally, that wasn't for us. However, the soy sauce fried rice and the cold noodles were really good and stood out the most from the meal. The service was good overall, although communication was a little difficult at times because it was hard to understand the staff's accents. The restaurant itself was clean and well kept. I think this place may work much better for smaller groups, but for our large party it was stressful and the food flavors were too repetitive for our taste. Unfortunately, it's probably not somewhere we would return to. Also they added 25% tip mandatory without mentioning it anywhere ; It was an experience though
