Let me start by saying we loved the food here last night. It was great quality, and the staff was incredibly welcoming. They were super encouraging with me using chopsticks as a novice and spent time showing me tips/tricks and also bringing me another set that was supposed to be easier. They also cooked all of our food so that was also welcome! We ordered the combo A, and the udon noodles. They also gave us glass noodles on the house along with all the Banchan. I loved the pickled peppers especially but everything was fresh, and really added to the experience. We loved the udon noodles to say the least and we did our best to finish our meal. The only thing that could've been improved was once the staff was done cooking the food they didn't let us know really. They might have been trying not to interrupt us but after the first course, they never indicated to us that the food was ready for us. They walked away like they usually did while waiting. We also had some uncooked meat remaining at the end of our meal that we weren't sure why they left out table side the entire time. It felt like a waste especially since we had done very well with the food and finished most of our kbbq - we left the noodles for a weekday lunch primarily. read more

A group of 7 hungry adults ate early dinner on Sunday. Overall, Kalbi serves up great K-bbq with attentive tableside cooking service. That said, some of their dishes were not as fresh or well-prepared, their smoke vent was not working well, and they could maintain the premises better. I. ATMOSPHERE (3/5) - Inside is spacious and overall comfortable seating with nice dim vibe that isn't too dark. Aside from the main dining area is a bit off because you can kind of see some random food prep areas. They could use some better upkeep so that the entire space is a bit more inviting because for example, mens' bathroom had stuff broken and just overall dingy. II. FOOD (4/5) a. BANCHAN (3/5) - They brought out generous spread of banchans and they were mostly good - mashed potato salad was a crowd favorite, and cucumber moochim and egg souffle was great too. That said, other dishes felt more like an afterthought. b. MAIN (4/5) - We ordered combo C & E and there were plenty of food to go around. Our favorites were the Snowflake prime rib, and the Prime Short Rib - they were full of beefy flavors and great bite. I also enjoyed the brisket dipped into their sauce. They also bring decent amount of veggies to grill, which was enjoyable. I was disappointed that they did not provide a foil cup to grill garlic and pepper. But the biggest letdown was the marinated kalbi. Immediately upon eating it, I noticed that the meat's texture was as if it was breaking apart, and way too overseasoned. It was basically not fresh - it was clear to me that this meat sat in the marinade for too long because meat texture was breaking apart, and way too sweet as a result to the point where we had to eat the red leaf lettuce and rice just to lower the sweetness in our mouths. Were they just not paying attention? This was pretty unforgivable for a K-bbq, and normally I would immediately ask them to take it back, except all the other meat was good and I did not want to make a stink. Almost no one ate the marinated after the first bite. c. OTHER (3/5) - We had ordered cold noodle and acorn noodle to split, but curiously they brought these after like the first meat was grilled(?) Usually you finish off with cold noodle at the end after the bbq. We thought it was odd. Also, the cold noodle was quite mediocre. They had given us free service of bibim mak gook soo which was tasty as an appetizer, so this was disappointing. My acorn bibim gooksoo was... well, OK. A bit on the sweet side. III. SERVICE (4/5) - Meat grillers were great and quick. But something was wrong with their smoke suction vent because the place was filled with smoke. Next table had their stuff burning on the grill and air wasn't circulating. Never experienced such vent malfunction before so it detracted from our experience a little bit. Overall, I left not too impressed. My first visit in 2025 was definitely better, and since then it just looked like things were not properly maintained. Also, at least few people in our party had either an allergic rash early on, or stomach trouble after eating. There's a lot to like about the Kalbi, but I was not impressed. There are many excellent Korean BBQ restaurants in Bergen County, but this one truly stands out! The restaurant is spacious, with plenty of room between tables, making for a comfortable dining experience. The service was top-notch from start to finish. We ordered the beef combo for 1-2 people, and the portion was so generous that it easily fed three people! All three cuts of beef were fresh, tender, and flavorful. My favorite was the ribeye--it was especially delicious. The side dishes were all well-seasoned, and when I asked for a refill of the cucumber kimchi, they happily brought us a double portion. I left completely satisfied and even had enough leftovers for lunch the next day. There was lot of meat w the kalbi combo - some marinated n some not. More than enough for 4 people. When cooked on the bbq they tasted so good. This restaurant was awesome! We came to the restaurant at 9pm on a Wednesday and it was pretty empty. This place is spacious and has plenty of seatings. The server was friendly and helpful. I came to the restaurant with a total of 3 people and order 3 dishes. The portion sizes were huge. We were super full and had to pack some to go (the 3 of us also eat a lot usually). We ordered the Kimichi pancake with cheese, spicy octopus and pork belly stir fry with noodles, and army stew. Each dish was delicious. I am craving the food as I am typing this review. Came here for lunch on Presidents Day and it was empty. There was only one other table with customers. Inside looked like a higher end Korean restaurant but not as high end as the ones in NYC. We ordered Combo A (for two people) which came with brisket, short rib and marinated short rib. It also came with either kimchi or soybean soup, a steamed egg and some banchan. All their meat is advertised as prime and you could taste it. The brisket had such a strong beef flavor which you don't get from other briskets. The short rib was very tender with the perfect amount of fat. The marinated short rib was also very tender and sweet from the marinade. Overall this was one of the best Korean bbq restaurants I've been to in NJ. It is on the pricier side but worth the money because of the quality of all their meat. The Kalbi is around 10 min-drive from the busier Fort Lee area. Parking is available. Inside is dim, with blue lights from the metal wine display which separates 2 large dining areas. Was treated to a family birthday here so didn't get to look at the menu and prices. Our table was covered with plates of meat to be cooked, sides/accompaniments. Cooking was done by the staff - noted the meat were cooked thoroughly but they were tender. Dipped some in the salt/sauces, some were marinated so tasty already. Service was great- calm, attentive. They dimmed the lights and played a festive version of the birthday song as they brought out the cake with sparkler candle (which I think they put on). Nice! Wheelchair accessible. read more

My new fave kbbq spot in town from quality meats, good portion sizes with reasonable prices too. Interior looks great and it's also very spacious but it was already fully packed when we went at 7pm. Def reco making reservations ahead of time. Here's what we got: - combo set b for 2-3 5/5: high quality juicy meats and comes with a soybean soup, kimchi soup, and 2 eggs - pork belly 3.5/5: prob left it too long but it was relatively dry - seafood pancake 4.5/5: love the crispiness of lacking some seafood - beef tartar 3/5: not a fan of this since it was sliced up tartar- prefer the grounded version more and not too tasty read more

I honestly expected much better from The Kalbi based on what I'd heard, but the experience was really disappointing! The food looked good at first, but the taste didn't live up to it at all -- the meat was overcooked and lacked flavor. Service was also quite slow, and it felt like the staff weren't paying attention to customers! What made it worse was the pricing; for what you get, it just doesn't feel worth it. The vibe is more upscale but casual with dim lighting where the main dining areas is split down the middle by a fancy wine cellar. + Kalbi Combo A1: prime ribeye, prime short ribs, marinated short loin & beef brisket From the ribeye to the short ribs to the brisket, each is super fresh and tender! The combos here are also reasonably priced for kbbq and are a good portion too. And you can't forget all the banchan and stews as well. Even my Korean parents gave their nod of approval so you know it's for real :) Service is super attentive but I wish they would let you cook the meats on your own. BEST. MEAT. QUALITY. IN. NEW JERSEY. We always go to Wooga in Ft. Lee, which is also fantastic. We recently learned about The Kalbi so decided to drop in out of curiosity. We ordered Combo A, which comes with marinated short rib (양념갈비), snowflake rib cut (눈꽃살), and sliced brisket (차돌박이) and a small mul naengmyun. The meat is premium quality and the best that I've had at a KBBQ place in a long time. The sliced brisket if appropriately fatty, chewy, and crispy. You are given a tray of ssamjangl wasabi, salt, and sesame oil as well as house sauce to eat with the meat. The snowflake rib cut (unmarinated) blew me away with how tender, juicy, and flavorful the meet was. At most other places, the meat becomes a little tough unless cooked perfectly. At The Kalbi, the meat was perfectly tender and soft. Finally, the marinated galbi was also amazing with the marinade providing a hint of sweetness and smokiness without being overwhelming. In my opinion, this was clearly better than the marinade galbi at Wooga, which obviously uses an inferior cut of meat. The portions were also very big. I was surprised by how big the spread was when they brought out the meat on the cutting board for cooking. They also give you an egg soufflé, doenjang jjigae, salad, and a number of sides including a tray of mixed noodles (막국수). My only regret here is that the banchan isn't very good. Again, by comparison, Wooga offers a collection of sides that compliment the meat well, including a potato salad and the kimchi is fresh and bursting with flavor. At The Kalbi, although they give both kimchi and radish kimchi, the flavoring is a little off and too fermented. The banchan as a collective is too spicy and too strong. Also, the doenjangjjigae is also a little too thick, which adds to the greasiness of the meat. I would recommend management to reconsider the mixture of its banchan spread. Having said that, The Kalbi excels at the reason why we go to KBBQ, which is the meat. It is truly spectacular and the reason why they are now my #1 choice for KBBQ in Northern NJ. I have not tried the pork BBQ and curious to see if it will match the quality of their beef (in my opinion, the pork at Wooga is not as good as their beef). read more

came here with my friends for dinner on a tuesday around 5pm. pretty empty, only two other parties present. parking right out in front which was convenient . the staff are super friendly and attentive. since there were 3 of us, we opted to get the Kalbi Combo A-1 which serves 3-4 people for $155. it came with steamed egg, banchan (side dishes), small soup, marinated short rib, snowflake rib cut, thinly sliced brisket and seasoned short rib. they were really nice and gave us bossam (braised pork belly w/ napa cabbage wrap w/ kimchi & pickled radish) as service. omg the bossam was SO good, definitely recommend to get if they are no longer giving it out as service. the soup was VERY flavorful and the steamed egg & banchan were great sides for the meat. the meat was PLENTIFUL. was SO full that i could barely finish haha. I wish the thinly sliced brisket was a bit more flavorful but it wasn't bad! the snowflake rib cut was super chewy but very flavorful. the marinated short rib and seasoned short ribs were the last two to be grilled and despite me being full, they did save the best for last because the last two were absolutely delicious. I wish i had more space to finish but unfortunately i had to take it home. overall, not THE best Kbbq but definitely one of the better ones in the area (and way better than all you can eat) as you get better quality and still leaves you full! read more

Definitely an above average Korean BBQ place that adds another great option in an area already full of outstanding BBQ choices. The meat quality of the set I ordered was very good. The flavor of the meat and the tenderness/tastiness aspect were all there. I would say the seafood pancake was also excellent and the service is also quite good. It was a generally solid experience and given this place is relatively new - it was also fairly clean. I don't really think there's anything they do poorly there in any way. It's a good option for people who live nearby though I do think the options in Fort Lee or Palisade Park are better in varying ways. However if someone is in the area and is craving BBQ this is a solid choice. read more

This was an exceptional food experience. This is the best Korean barbecue I have had in a long time and we eat kbbq frequently. Part of it was the OUTSTANDING food quality. Part of it was the service. We came on a Saturday night with eight people without reservations, and the service truly went above and beyond. Everything came out really quick, and the servers cooked our food in front of us. It was absolutely delicious. I was BLOWING AWAY by the quality of the meat. The presentation was so beautiful and aesthetically pleasing but most important it was SO TASTY. Cooked to perfection and the servers even gave suggestions on how to eat it. The service was incredible. They were so attentive and worked so hard to make our experience perfect. My friends and I took our friend who was in town from France here, since she loves Korean BBQ and Korean culture, and I've been wanting to try The Kalbi, since I normally go to Wooga or K-town for KBBQ. The atmosphere is more refined, and dare I say, elegant than your typical KBBQ spot. The service captain was very helpful and super friendly, yet professional. One person in my party is Celiac so we ordered the non-marinated meat combo. Our server was very accommodating advising us as to which banchan dishes were Gluten Free. Additionally, he honored my music request for some IU, Taeyeon, KoL, and Babymonster, which I asked about to liven up the somber mood in the dining room. The food was delicious. Although the steamed egg could have used a pinch of salt and the kimchi could use a bit more Gochugaru, the meat was excellent quality and perfectly cooked. We met the owner upon leaving who was very nice and appreciative of our patronage. He was curious how we knew of the place, and how we enjoyed the food. In addition to answering, we suggested he stock Yondu sauce for people with a Gluten intolerance or sensitivity. Yondu is a Gluten Free Umami Sauce from Korea. He seemed appreciative. The ambiance as soon as you walk in is great. More on the romantic dark side than being greeted with bright lights and the interior design was well done for an upscale feel. In terms of pricing, it was very decent for the amount and quality of the meat that came out. My friends and I ordered the Beef Tartare and Combo 2 for 2-3 people and we were so full and our tummies were happy afterwards. I also liked that they gave us both types of stew as you normally have to choose one or the other!! The service is great and everyone was friendly.
