Stopped in for lunch at 1 PM on MLK Jr. Day. There's a parking lot, and this lot is always a mess but luckily we were able to find a spot. The restaurant is pretty small, so it's not great for large groups. We only had 5 but had to wait for one of the larger tables, which they only have two of. Here is what we ordered: -Shrimp & Leek Pancake - I'm normally not a fan of these pancakes because they tend to be soggy and oily. But this one was actually pretty good. I think it's because they use a very light, and very little batter - so it's mostly just shrimps and leeks. They also have a good amount of shrimp -Japchae - this one was meh. It wasn't smooth and glossy like I like my japchae to be. But that might be a good thing? Maybe it means they use less oil -CDH Tofu Bossam (steamed pork belly, tofu, kimchi wrap) - this seems to be the dish everyone was getting when I saw the reviews. Some pictures showed their homemade tri-colors tofu, which is why we didn't end up ordering a separate dish of that. I was disappointed when it came out with regular tofu, which was still good but not what I was expecting. The pork belly was nice and tender, and sliced thin. I wasn't a fan of the kimchi wrap because there was some kind of herb in it that I didn't like. Perilla leaf maybe? -LA Kalbi - meat was tender and the marinade was good -CDH Grilled Croaker (served with rice and soup) - perfectly fried and lots of meat. The tofu soup it came with was incredibly salty though Their banchan included fried tofu, kimchi, cucumber kimchi, shrimp sauce, and marinated squash. My favorite was the cucumber. It was bright and crispy. I would have been happy just eating this and some rice. I will say that the only weird thing is that they're on the inKind app, and when we went to their website, we saw there was a promo going on for $25 off $75. But as soon as they saw we had the coupon, they asked if we could pay with a different method because suddenly, "their system was down". The promo was part of the reason why we chose this spot, so we felt kind of like it was a bait and switch. We probably liked half of the items, and that experience left me a little salty. We were warmly greeted by an older Korean woman and given the most delicious hot tea upon sitting. She was very helpful with making our food choices. Cho Dang House specializes in homemade tofu, so we knew that we wanted to try it. We ordered the Seafood and Tofu Soup and the Tofu Bossam. A very nice and tasty selection of banchan was served after we ordered. The Soup was served absolutely boiling, with a bowl of rice. Shrimp, clam, and squid blended with the soft tofu in a divine red broth. I am still craving this dish days later. Fantastic flavor and textures! The Tofu Bossam is a large platter filled with tender pork belly, tofu, and kimchi rolls. Eaten all together, it is a perfect bite. Fatty, silky, crunchy - just a flavor bomb. Came here for dinner after a full day of snowboarding with my family, and it was exactly what we needed. Everything we ordered was so good that the table went completely silent when the food came out. I ordered the spicy pork bibimbap and it was packed with flavor, perfectly spicy, and comforting. My family tried a bit of everything: bulgogi mushroom soup, seafood tofu soup, beef tofu soup, vegetable tofu soup, and the bulgogi bibimbap. Every dish was rich, hot, and satisfying. We arrived around 9:23pm, cutting it close to their 10pm closing time, and they still accommodated us, which we really appreciated. They are able to accompany larger groups (8-10 ) people and we were able to come ins same day. The portions are large and reasonably priced especially the combo meals! The tofu stews are flavorful, spicy and come out bubbly and hot. The fried fish was light and crispy. The kalbi was marinated well and very tender. Everyone seems to order the tri-color tofu here, but I found it to be dry (1 star off). The three added flavors of tofu were confusing to me, as they covered the natural tofu taste, and I could not tell what those flavors were. I assume the black one is sesame and the orange one is pumpkin? I don't have a guess what the purple one is at all. The staff did not speak English, so I could not ask. You need to top the tri-color tofu with sauce in order to make it palatable. I asked for plain white tofu, and they told me they don't have it. I pointed to a picture on their wall with a block of white tofu, but they again told me they don't have it. I couldn't tell if they don't have it that day or they don't have that on their menu at all. I did get a white tofu soup which I enjoyed; it tasted clean and comforting. I also ordered the galbi, which is just okay. There was no char despite being cooked on a hot stone pot (1 star off). I don't think meat is their strong suit, LOL. The banchan dishes were good. I liked the kongjorim (braised soy beans) and purple rice. They went really well with the white tofu soup. Would definitely come back. So many Korean options in Fort Lee but I really liked this small mom-and-pop place that's convenient to getting on/off the GW Bridge. One of the waitresses was super kind and kept coming by to see how we were doing, like asking which banchan we liked, plying us with plenty of refills, and making sure we were good with the spice level of our soups. (They do mean spicy, by the way. My mom had to take up the offer to make the soup milder.) They have all the standard options, like a variety of tofu stews, bibimbap, and galbi. They also bring over the pot with the crunchy rice bits, filled with barley tea, for you to enjoy at the end of the meal. I've been on a big tofu kick lately and went with their tofu and veggie bibimbap. Good selection of veggies, generous amount of tofu (which I believe they make in-house and is tri-color, something I hadn't seen before). My friends and I came here in search of a homey Korean restaurant away from NYC, and we definitely found the spot! There was a good amount of side dishes that came with our meal and we were asked if we wanted a refill for it. Additionally, they served hot barley tea which is always a treat at Korean restaurants. The food and customer service is excellent in this restaurant. The menu is unique and different from all the other Korean restaurants in Fort Lee. I would give the food a 5 star rating. The 3 star rating is because they charge you for take out containers when you don't finish your meal. Went there for dinner with wife recently and we really enjoyed our meal! Cho Dang House is what you'd call a bit more traditional Korean food because they serve more authentic Korean food options compared to the mainstream, and keep the menu focused on a few good quality offerings instead of trying to be all and end up being average. We ordered Perilla Seed & Mushroom Tofu soup (E4) and the Spicy Braised Beef Short Rib with Vegetable Bean Sprout Bibimbap Set (N1). It's a smallish place but warm & inviting and the service was very attentive though we did go there a bit early for dinner around 5:30pm. The mall lot gets a bit crowded around this time but you can wait it out a bit to find a spot easily. Onto the food: 1. Perilla Seed & Mushroom Tofu Soup (ENT, $18.50, 3/5) - A healthy option with fragrant perilla seed taste all over, with meaty oyster mushrooms in a mild broth. Non-spice lovers will like this one. My wife enjoyed it, and I liked it as well but not sure I'd order it again at this steep price point. 2. Spicy beef short rib w/ bibimbap (ENT, $28, 4.5/5) - This hit home run, as expected. The spice level isn't too high so don't be afraid to go for it if you want a bit of kick. The robust short rib stew was packed with delicious meat & fatty taste we all love from kalbijjim with that savory-sweetness coming from actual dried dates inside, with braised chunks of carrots and radishes the way Korea ordered it! Offsetting this in-your-face flavor profile was airy & crunchy medley of fresh chopped vegetables & bean sprout bibimbap dressed with light & zesty soy-based yangnyumjang (dressing) w/ a whole bowl of rice on the side. It was much better combo than seems in writing and that bowl was gone in 10 minutes of frenzied bap-stew-bap-stew-bap-bap-stew shoveling-into-my-mouth action. We loved it so much that we packed to go the rest of the stew w/ one big chunk of short rib left for lunch next day. Only downside is that they could've given a bit more beef for this price point. 3. Banchans (Side, $0, 5/5) - As expected from these traditional places, the side dishes didn't disappoint and thus merits a discussion. Cucumber moochim was crispy & flavorful, seasoned dried pollock rocked, and they had this green namool whose name I don't recall that provided just the right amount of palate-cleansing. I liked the fact that none of them were heavy-handed with seasoning, like the fried tofu that was served chilled and mild. They serve traditional barley tea like the original k-joints do, which made me feel right at home, and even serve you the burnt-rice porridge/soup on the cast iron pot on the side so you can enjoy that rice soup to finish your meal. Delicious & Healthy. Damn, 'twas good. The staff looked at us amusingly as we killed it and they checked in to ensure everything was to our liking. While it is definitely 10-20% more pricey (or is that just inflation, I lost track...), but they deliver in spades in quality and authenticity. The potential for this place is very high but as of yet they lack some key "ingredients." They would do well to heed my advice. First, their side dishes (반찬) have too much sugar. If you can taste the sweetness you've used too much; Second, for a tofu house none of their side dishes (반찬) featured any tofu, not good; Third, the soft tofu soup (순두부) lacked flavor, meaning the broth was not rich with flavor and it wasn't for lack of salt but lack of ingredients for the soup base, i.e., soup base was watery and not rich; Fourth, the soft tofu soup had exactly six pieces of seafood, really?! Fifth, they deep fry or pan fry their fish instead of broiling; and Sixth, no choice between white and mixed grain rice. Here's what worked: Four side dishes including kimchi was just right and the portions were also just right; The soft tofu was good; felt like it was home made; The size of the yellow croker (조기) was adequate; and Portions for the soft tofu soup (순두부) were good. Services was as you'd expect; decor was adequate and everything was fairly clean. Price point is about 10% too high but I'd rather pay 10% more and get higher quality food with richer ingredients. Ample parking. No booze. So until they make the improvements, I'd stay away. But if they do, this could be a regular hot spot! I hope they realize on their potential! read more

This new place is about as rock solid 4 stars as it gets. It's not amazing but the food is more than decent and has a real homey vibe to it. The food I ordered was packed perfectly well and they were extremely generous with their banchan options. Lots were included though I was more partial to their kimchee and cucumber dishes. The tofu soup I had was decent and had plenty of flavor. It wasn't super spicy and had a nice savory richness that feels like something made at home. The bulgogi was also not bad. The meat was a little bit dry but the flavor was good. It paired fine with the ample banchan that came with the food.
