The first time I went to a human bean was actually in Phoenix, so I was excited to see them pop up here in Albuquerque. The current location is a bit out of my way, but conveniently right by my sister's house. I had a favor to ask of her so of course I came bearing coffee. I went through the drive-through quickly to pick up some treats. I got the chai latte with bourbon cream foam on top and it was fantastic. My sister requested the vanilla shake, which is basically a dupe for the Starbucks vanilla bean Frappuccino. She also said it was fantastic and exactly what she wanted. The only error was that the barista missheard me and gave me two of the vanilla shakes but when I realized it, she was very polite and just gave me a refund for that second one. 3/2022: Will I visit The Human Bean again? Probably, if only to give it a second chance. The Human Bean is a drive thru only place, yet I noticed 2 wooden tables outside. Great customer service from the baristas who were very friendly and helpful, assisting me with my drink selection. I am not a coffee drinker but was craving hot chocolate or cocoa. I stated that I wanted the hot chocolate stirred and it was not. Also, it tasted more milky than chocolate so I wasn't impressed. In addition I believe the drink was made with 2% milk, not whole milk (of course it cut some of the additional calories). Giving 3.5 stars because of the smiling faces. read more

Usually I give this location 5 stars, I've mostly quit going to Starbucks because the Human Bean is closer and serves every drink with a chocolate covered coffee bean on top. But today my Java chip granita tastes like Hersheys syrup instead of a coffee drink, & they put whipped cream on it even though I told 3 people No whipped cream (the power went out after they'd taken the order so they took it again at the window & then again a 3rd person came to the window to ask). Ok, who doesn't like a good cup of coffee? How about a muffin top? I mean who really eats the rest of the muffin anyway? Our breakfast today - after a long gym workout came courtesy of the Human Bean. We got here and walked up to the window. Menu was straight forward & the baristas were friendly & helpful. It was an Irish cream breve, frozen hot chocolate with the orange cranberry & lemon poppyseed muffin tops. My breve was excellent. The beans used to make the brew weren't bitter or burnt which definitely contributed to flavor. Bonus ~ both drinks were topped with a chocolate covered coffee bean. Nice addition! I stopped by here for a Yelp event and wow I am not disappointed at all. I was greeted by a very friendly and helpful staff member who told me that they had peppermint flavoring, my favorite. I changed my drink and got a large iced peppermint mocha! It was so good! I didn't think the large would be that huge but I couldn't finish the whole thing, definitely worth the price for that huge of a cup! I also got a chocolate chip muffin too which was delicious and a nice pairing. If I'm ever on this side of town, I'll definitely stop by. read more

This place just opened and we decided to stop and try it. This is a drive thru only coffee shop. Their menu is small but I feel like they cover just about everything! They have sugar free and non dairy options, a kids menu, energy drinks, hot chocolate and of course your classic coffee options. I'm sure they have some more stuff that I am forgetting but I would definitely recommend giving this place a try! We like coming here because it is drive through, you can order and pay with the app, and they have more sugar free options than Starbucks. My favorite is a sugar free chocolate macadamia breve. Can get any drink hot, iced or blended and the same drink tastes different with each preparation. Finally, they always give you a chocolate covered espresso bean on top of your drink, even hot ones, so you get an extra little treat. The environment is always inviting! I love the convenience of a two way drive thru! With the use of the app I am able to view more options on the menu. The baristas are extremely helpful when it comes to recommendations and will help you find the perfect drink. And believe it or not they have sweet and savory treats! Was excited when it first opened but that was my only good experience with them other than the 20 minute wait time because there was a single car ahead of me, since my first visit I've gone 3 different occasions 1st Visit - Long wait but Sausage Egg and Cheese Sandwiches were amazing and the Frozen hot chocolate was 10/10 2nd visit - I make my order with someone walking to the cars taking orders and charging customers I order 2 Breakfast Sandwiches and 2 Drinks when I arrived to the window I'm told they are out of breakfast anything (9am on a Saturday) and the flavoring I asked for wasn't available on either drink so I cancelled it to never get refunded 3rd visit- I've learned from the second trip to wait to order and pay at the window but when I ask what breakfast they had im told everything is available when I make my order for 2 burritos and 2 Redbulls with Blue raspberry flavor added I pay 30 seconds later I'm told they have 1 burrito left and the flavoring I was told they had isn't available I paid cash this time so they gave it back and I left I probably will not return again it's a shame because it's less than a minute from my house read more

I just want to say all the other times I've come to the human bean it was a pleasant experience but this time It was very awkward. First half of my experience I was greeted by a nice gentlemen I could tell he was a little new, he repeated back my order to make sure it was correct and gave me my total. It was slightly busy. I know working as a barista can be a little overwhelming at times but gosh must I say the young women with the purple and green hair, have a little more patience. I love this place... I recently changed job locations and found Human Bean on the way there. Decided to try it.... have been back a few times since. I have not been disappointed at all. Dani (sp?) was such a great help as I was so unsure of what I wanted today and she calmly and in a friendly matter helped me pick the perfect drink! I had a cold brew with toasted marshmallow flavor and I have to say -- it was exactly what I needed after my work day! The staff has been helpful each time and I appreciate the service and them answering my questions without attitude or looking at me like I am stupid.
