I live in Washington State--widely known for having some of the "best" coffee around. And sure, I've had some great cups here. But my favorite roasted coffee beans actually come from this cute little roasterie in Albuquerque! I've been buying from Moon's for years, and during a trip for the Balloon Fiesta in 2019, my son and I had the pleasure of meeting Joy and Jori in person. They were so kind and welcoming, and it made us appreciate their work even more. In my opinion, their roasting is spot-on--rich, flavorful, and always balanced. Every blend I've tried has been incredible. Having a burr grinder to grind these is key! My son's more of a tea guy, and he was excited to pick up some of their loose leaf selections too. This is my favorite place to get coffee beans. I love going to Moons, the staff are always friendly and inviting. Their knowledge of the various types of tea and coffee and the nuances of each ones flavor profile goes beyond basic storefront knowledge. They roast the beans in house and have a great selection. Sulawesi roast is my favorite go-to bean and is always asked for by family when i travel to visit them out of state. They also will ship the beans anywhere in the U.S. The shop is not designed for casual seating but they do have coffee and tea brewed in-house to go. read more

Always happy to find hidden gems in the city. When we pulled into the parking lot we could smell the coffee beans roasting. So as soon as we left our actual destination next door (not the questionable massage place). . It is small but cute. The girl at the counter was patient with us as we asked questions. I tried the coffee of the day while my daughter ordered chai tea iced. My coffee was rich in flavor and not over baring. My daughter raved about the tea because it was made without a syrup. This has become my go to place for whole bean coffee. Yes I am somewhat of a coffee snob. This place was recommended to me by a friend. The first time I went in the staff was very friendly. The woman assisted me asked questions regarding what I like in coffee. I answered her and she hooked me up with a couple of her favorites. Her recommendations and her tastes were right on and she really knew what she was talking about. The next few times I asked questions regarding their different varieties. I ended up just going down the line and trying pretty much everything. Now I have my favorites which I go to regularly and really would have a difficult time going without. I am hooked on the air quality. They roast everything right there and it's very fresh. This is the place to go for fresh whole bean coffee. It was my first time at this place. Because I came here in the afternoon, the place was emptied and I didn't see any baked goods as I suspected that they may have already sold out. I was greeted when I walked into the store. On the left hand side, I saw over 50 vareities of teas in their bottles with names and pricing on them. Walking toward the counter, I saw the whiteboard filled with origins of coffee. They offer both single source and specialty coffee. I like that they do offer both half and full pound for single origin coffee beans. For the specialty coffee, advance order is recommended except the piñón coffee and one pound is the minimum order. The piñón coffee beans are blended with actual piñón nuts, which is different than other places. The people are friendly and I like the varieties of coffee that I can buy from here. read more

I went into this business recently to buy coffee beans. As I walked in 2 people were ahead of me. They must've spent 10 minutes figuring out what manner of coffee they wanted. Moons also serves coffee by the cup. There were 4 people behind the counter and only 1 was helping customers while the others were talking amongst themselves. Instead of helping me with my order one of the talkers told me they would be with me in a minute and implied that I was waiting for the person busy helping customers ordering coffee trying to figure out what milk to get with their freshly brewed coffee. I am disabled and with nowhere to sit in their lobby I my choice was to leave. It's sad because I quit going to that place from Seattle because of similar situations. They do have ample seating in their lobby when they make customers wait for no real reason. Too bad moons is acting like a corporate giant. read more

This is the best coffee roaster, seller and accessory shop I've ever found, and that includes several cities across the country. Moon's is a coffee or tea lover's heaven. She roasts every major coffee on earth (see the end for a list) PLUS she carries all of the best coffee and tea makers, grinders, Bodum Santos stuff (only place I've ever found a Bodum vacuum pot) and every tea imaginable, all loose. I actually asked her to ship me coffee when I moved to Phoenix because NO PLACE in Phoenix had loose coffee, nor her selection. I cannot recommend this wonderful place highly enough. I have been buying coffee and tea here since 1998, when I lived around the corner and they had only just opened. Now I live 30 miles away, and it's still my go-to coffee roasting house, even after an ownership change. The coffee is roasted beautifully and in accordance with my preferences. The staff is friendly and helpful. Prices are steeper than places that don't do their own roasting, but you get what you pay for. My favorites: Sumatra, Sulawesi, and Espresso roasts. Spousal unit loves the decaf versions of these, plus the French roast decaf. They have a lovely selection of tea and coffee paraphernalia. Bought the spousal unit an attractive tea set for Christmas here, once. I only regret that I didn't buy the beautiful copper tea kettle they had once upon a time right before the ownership change, and haven't had since. read more

Not a coffee shop. They sell loose tea and are a coffee roaster. They also sell a lot of goodies for making and drinking coffee and tea. My sister and I were in vacation staying at a rental house with our family of 7. We walked in sort of confused since we were in search of a latte, but they were super nice and helped us find something we could take home. The coffee was a hit for the rest of the week. Do not buy any other Pinon coffee in town. You'll only be doing yourself an injustice. These guys grind fresh Pinon and mix it in with the roasted, fresh ground coffee. Honestly, I've never tried any other coffee from them. But their tea selection is top notch and I only buy my gen mai green tea from them. Had to check this place out. There aren't too many roasters in town. It's a cute shop. They seem to specialize in tea merch but also stock a bunch of coffee stuff. Their coffee selection is huge and fresh but tends to be dark and shiny. I find this type of bean useful when I'm feeling experimental with blends, and but straight up its a little dark for my taste. Been buying my coffee and teas here for probably 20 years. The store was purchased a few years ago, and the very few changes the new owners made were for the better. The buyers were wise to not change what was already a success story in small business. They even kept the long-time employee that has been working here for a long time. They have started selling some coffee drinks now and not just beans. I think just espresso and plain coffee. No lattes etc. Love the selection of accessories. I stopped by to see my friend's coffee shop and it is really a great little place to pick up some fresh roasted coffee beans or a cup of coffee to go. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. They also have a large assortment of teas plus some nice tea pots. I had a tasty cappuccino while waiting. What I liked was being able to see and experience the whole process of them roasting the coffee beans, grinding the coffee beans, and brewing of coffee. Moons coffee and tea is one of those businesses that makes Albuquerque great. I always get my whole beans from her on my way home from work. This is not a coffee shop like starbucks but instead a place to buy coffee beans, loose tea leaves, or coffee/tea supplies. Its a small place in a strip mall on Juan Tabo. Its not the place just to get a cup of coffee or some fancy late. Moon herself is usually in the store when I stop in and will make suggestions if you ask for them. All of the beans are roasted in house so you know you are getting fresh roasted beans. If you have a particular request such as a flavored coffee I suggest calling ahead of time. All of the coffee beans are good but I have some particular favorites that I always get like the French Roast and Java. I find the prices are very competitive especially considering the quality. My wife has gotten some of the teas which are really interesting. There is a huge selection of loose teas. The coffee and tea accessories are high quality and Moon can help you if you are looking for something in particular. read more

Moon's Coffee and Tea is a excellent source in Albuquerque. The store is clean, full of the beautiful paraphernalia we caffeine addicts love, and smells great when you walk in. The owner is a nice fellow, knowledgeable and courteous. He roasts inhouse and has a wide variety of beans and tea offerings, and everything I've tried from this store has been very good.
