I got their seasonal pumpkin cream chai iced cold brew. I love fall flavors and have had a good number of fall seasonal drinks, and this may be the best I've had. It had a lot of delicious complex flavors. So satisfying and also nice iced since it's still hot out. I do wish it could be gotten with flavored oat milk. It's awesome that they have a good selection of gluten free baked goods. I'm not gluten free but my partners are, and they'd really appreciate this as it's hard to find. I enjoyed the banana frosted cinnamon cake. Could be less sweet though. The place has a lot of space to sit. I like the upholstered chairs for sitting. Whispering Bean is one of those spots that just gets it. Every time I stop in, there's a new seasonal drink or creative combo I didn't know I needed! somehow they keep coming up with fresh ideas that actually work. Nice place, much larger inside than it seems from the outside. Plenty of outdoor seating on a nice day. My friend and I stopped by late morning on a Tuesday. The establishment had a very steady flow of traffic but not too crowded. It was clean and there is a nice variety of seating. Service took a while and we couldn't figure out why the line, just to order, was moving so painfully slow since the wait to get the order was not much at all. I tried Whispering Bean for the first time today, which was a Sunday at 10am. There was ample seating of different kinds, including normal chairs, high chairs, and comfy lounge chairs. The service was friendly. I ordered two egg bites; one was the spinach, egg, tomato, and feta selection. The other was the ham, egg, green chile, and cheese. The barista warned the bites, but they were barely lukewarm on the outside and room temperature in the middle. The heating timer should likely be doubled. I ordered an iced white chocolate mocha. I don't really remember it either way, even though I just got home from the coffee shop. Overall, a nice-looking, clean place with ample seating. The coffee isn't remarkable, and the food needs to be heated longer. read more

This place was an absolute win. I'm a travel nurse and new to being gluten free. I've found it's difficult to find places in general while traveling as well as finding places that are dedicated gluten free, have a variety and/or are really careful with cross contamination. I found this place on the Find Me Gluten Free app (super helpful if you need it and are traveling). I was so excited to see all of the bakery goods that were gluten free. I almost cried. There were scones, cake, muffins, cookies, and empanadas. I'm sure I'm missing some items. I had the gf scone with peppers and ham (wish I would've gotten a picture). It was sooo good. It reminded me of a Red Lobster cheddar bay biscuit, but jazzed up. My partner got the gf lavender raspberry muffin. The combination of flavors: . We're traveling through Albuquerque or this would definitely be a staple for us. If we're ever in the area again, I'm getting a gf empanada. I am a sucker for gluten free options and we went out of our way to try this place. I ordered a soy chai and a muffin. My chai tasted more like seamed soy milk with an essence of chai, while my muffin was very moist and a bit overly sweet for a breakfast treat. My husband got a latte that also tasted more like steamed milk than coffee. Service was ok, seemed like it was very much a locals hangout. Lots of seating available. I did not realize I've never reviewed this awesome coffee little spot. It's located right next to sprouts and they have a gallery which was added after I first started coming here with the local artist working in it that you can buy which I always find really cool. I love nitro coffee and they actually have a really good nitro coffee one of the best ones I've had down in Albuquerque since they moved here, three and the owners are always very friendly when you come in they do sell some local pastries and the staff every time I've come in here it's just been the best and always friendly and that's always a fun thing and the ambience is kind of laid-back. Wow! First time coming here. The shop is decorated very nice and is in a great location by Sprouts. I got the Trail Blazing coffee and while it was unexpectedly sweet, it was delicious. They have fresh, in-house made breakfast items to choose from, and they will heat it up for you on the spot. The coffee varieties are very good and the options are unique. They also have a wide selection of hot and cold teas, as well as juice and blended coffees. I will definitely come here again to support a great local business. read more

When I asked if I can customize it to make it less sweet, she said yes. She made a rose cucumber lemonade- which is too sweet. Coffee is roasted in the store, so they are fresh. They offer both single origin coffee and lattes. I might return to try coffees in the future. Lighting in the store is ok, but there is not much natural light. One of my favorite haunts. I should've reviewed this a long time ago. They make really excellent espresso. The key to good coffee drinks. And they teach the new baristas the proper way to make espresso. I don't do a lot of their food but I hear that it's absolutely fantastic. Every Saturday morning after dropping off our munchkin at dance class we head over for our weekend treat. I am addicted to the Apple Pie Chai which is out of this world! I really like this place! They have amazing baristas that are friendly and that really know their coffees. I know this is going to be one of my regular stops on this side of town now for sure. Today I just wanted a black coffee and a slice of quiche w/ sun dried tomatoes and basil (super delicious). She suggested a pour over and explained the different coffees and their notes. She also gave me a punch card for a free cup after nine purchases. I was surprised to find out that they have only been open since July of 2016 and have already gotten in the top five best in city for roasting. That's pretty impressive just like their coffee. Something unique and brilliant about this coffee house is they have thermals on the counter w coffee that you can just run in and drop $2 in the container and fill up your own cup for a quick coffee on the go. read more

PRO: - Friendly & personable staff, particularly the older of the two ladies working the morning I stopped in for breakfast. - Mocha tasted okay, not exceptional or life changing, but good enough. (see possible reason below) - Orange-cranberry muffin was BIG!! Kudos for such a generous portion. - Muffin was very moist and tender. The orange flavor was subtle & low key, not sharp & overwhelming as sometimes happens. - Bright & lively space. Quite enjoyable. - Their CON: - Taste of mocha was weak due to too much milk. The barista poured in what looked like a cup (8 oz) of milk for my 12 oz mocha. So not enough coffee to bring the flavor or caffiene my morning needed. The milk simply left the coffee too diluted to be flavorful. - While perfunctorily cordial, the barista seemed rather diffident. She seemed to warm quite a bit to other (perhaps regular) customers when they came in. - Somewhat expensive by ABQ standards, especially given the rather disappointing mocha. My total with tax for 12 oz mocha & muffin was in the $7.25 range. - The bagged coffee for sale was $13+ per bag. That seems high compared to the local pinon coffee I quite like & can get for $6.50/lb at Shamrock. Bottom Line: I will likely give Whispering Bean another try, ordering plain coffee next time to get the flavor straight up, since they are not far from the house. read more
