This is a nice quiet coffee shop. It felt spacious. The tables are spread out with plenty of space between. There are some comfy couches near the back. Restroom is available. They have a really small parking lot. All of the unmarked spots were taken, so I found free street parking. I got the red chile chai because the name sounded so interesting! If I liked chai, maybe I would enjoy the drink more. I couldn't handle the spice, so I tossed it after a couple sips. RIP. My eating partner got the cold brew, which was pretty standard. I'd come back if I needed to get work done. They have free wifi. Maybe try a burrito for $7. read more

Super cute spot with tons of space to hang out and chat or meet up with friends or family. The people behind the counter were very friendly and welcoming. I didn't eat anything so I can't speak to the pastries but what they did have looked good. I had my standard Cortado and they did a nice job. They have parking on the side and back and some street parking. Nice place to meet up! read more

Delicious coffee and kind staff found in this sweet coffee shop. The space is spacious and bright -- a perfect stop to read a book, work, and catch up. Bonus points for the shelf of used books available for sale! read more

Easily one of the best roasters in New Mexico. So great beans. Nice ambience. Great coffee. Third wave. They know what they're doing.

A friend introduced us to Slow Burn Coffee and I'm glad they did! My family ordered the Dirty Red Chile Chai, Matcha Latte and Spiced seasonal latte -- all with oat milk. All the drinks were delicious. The Red Chile Chai had just the right amount of spice! It was a little watered down, and I wish the espresso had been more pronounced. I loved the interior space. They have plenty of seating and the baristas are friendly and knowledgeable about their coffee. read more

Ambience: the decor is weird and doesn't make sense but it's very roomy with lots of seating, tables, sofas and long table in the back for large groups. Service: I was greeted satisfactorily. I tried to smile and look the chick in the eye when I ordered, she wasn't mean or rude, but I wasn't feeling super warm vibes. Coffee: I got an oat milk latte. It was served in a ceramic bowl/mug. It was pretty good. Better than Cutbow, but not as good as Castle. The merch is very pricey if you're into that sort of thing... Parking lot is great. Overall I'd come back but it's not my go to in ABQ. read more

This place feels a bit austere, and there's hardly any food, nothing gluten free. Coffee was good, but not super

The red Chile chai is to die for! I have to grab one every time I'm in town. The service is also spectacular! Love this place

Amazing coffee shop! Some of the best coffee in town with incredible vibes. Can't wait to go back.

Bienvenidos, Popular cafe on a easy Sunday morning. Located in the Wells Park neighborhood. Enter through the artsy "Santa Fe" doors into the soul of this quaint coffeehouse. Welcoming baristas ready to explore the menu and roasted coffee offerings. Red Chili Chai. I mean your in New Mexico right?! Spices of chai warmed by red chili essence that hits just at the end. My beautiful coffee partner sipped on the Fall special, Lucky 13 Spiced Latte. Decadent, sultry and savory. A true fall winner. Soon to return.... Enjoy Amigos! read more

We stopped in here for coffee before hitting up the tram up the mountain and heading out of town. Located near old Town in a stucco building, pretty conveniently. Having lived in Seattle for 10 yrs, then moving to Phoenix, I'd describe the hipster scene in ABQ as pretty goth. This shop fit the tee of goth hipster style and vibe. We enjoyed the coffee. Wait was a bit slow but we weren't in a rush. read more

Slow Burn! 821 Mountain Rd NW Albuquerque NM. Go Go Go (actually second time here, first review) Coffee amazing! This Breve was made with smooth, chocolaty bodied coffee. Brewed just right, creamy yumminess. Bean from El Salvador (orange, caramel, almond they say) Baristas make you feel right at home and very knowledgeable. Space bright and clean, feels cozy yet spacious. #Coffeeloversnomad read more

I travel a ton for work, so often a place only has one chance to get it right. These guys got it right.. they were out of the spiced chai which I was told was going to be awesome so I branched out and tried a mocha. The subtle hints of dark chocolate did not overwhelm my palate and the overall drink was extremely smooth showing they had a great pull. The atmosphere is exactly what you would expect from a small town coffee shop, which always has the potential to be interesting. It was a very chill vibe. Being in town for a week, this place definitely resonated enough that I will stop back in and expand upon the menu items read more

Slow Burn Coffee - Heaven's elixir... - Coffee Roasteries Near Me - Albuquerque, New Mexico

I just bought what I was told was "close to a pound" of coffee here. It was $25 which is ridiculous, but they are next door to me and I was out of coffee--and I figured I'd give it a try. like good coffee and good coffee is expensive. And I like to buy local. I didn't really pay attention to what they gave me back because I was in a rush. Well, I just got home, weighted my bag of coffee and it is 250 grams. That, my friends, is just over 1/2 pound of coffee (1/2 lb=227g). So we're looking at $45 a pound for this bag. I have been in many places in the US and abroad and I can safely say that while I have spent $30 a pound for coffee before--coffee that was exceptional--this, particularly for a relatively low-cost-of-living place like Albuquerque, is outrageous. Oh, and this stuff it turns out was roasted almost a month ago. So no, I'm not pleased with this. Oh, and they threw in a cup of drip coffee which was fine, but certainly did not make me think they are a top-tier roaster-brewer. The second star is because the folks behind the counter were nice. read more

Awful experiences. Before I get to the negatives, I will mention that the coffee itself is good, and the interior of the building is nice, spacious. My initial visit wasn't the worst: a jaded barista immediately asking for my order. I get it. Second time around, was an even more unwelcoming experience. The barista was curt and to make matters worse, sneezes, proceeds to take orders, and then makes the drinks all without washing her (their) hands. With how uninviting I felt, I decided to leave and I'm sure the barista couldn't have cared less. Sadly, the coffee and interior aren't enough to compensate for the abysmal service (and lack of basic hygiene). I don't expect a full on conversation or small talk, but it doesn't take much to acknowledge somebody as a human being. It also doesn't take much to step aside and wash your hands. I'd recommend checking out the other coffee shops in the area, as there are many others with great espresso, drinks, and welcoming staff! read more

Their coffee base taste is amazing! One of my favorites!! On Monday morning, we came to get the Lucky 13 Spice Latte (I love it hot and he loves it cold). I could smell the slow roast on the walk there (street parking), this is the key to their tasty coffee. The cup of coffee was not overly sweet, and had nutty notes (not in an artificial way, more like the bitterness level was low ~light sweet notes~ with a hint of nuttiness). The temperature was perfect. I noticed the end of my cup had few chai, cinnamon, and other tiny bits of spices - just fell in love with this cup of coffee during this crisp morning. The ambience inside was nice and quiet. Baristas we're kind and attentive. This place is perfect for small gathers, quiet time on the laptop - all while enjoying that smooth cup of coffee! read more

I stopped by because of the "old west saloon" look. This is a great place for locals or tourists to stop for cool exterior pics. I tried the Red Chile Chai Latte. I requested oat milk and I believe it overpowered the red Chile taste. The price was on par with Starbucks, so no worry for breaking the bank The cafe was super busy, I waited a while but it was mid morning. The atmosphere was okay; it felt a bit crowded bc customers were sprawled about instead of collecting near the waiting area near the side door. I must mention the restroom; European style. It activated my nostalgia for my time in Europe. So clean and comfortable. read more

This coffeehouse was recommended by our Airbnb host and I'm glad we checked it out. The first day my sister and I each got a pour over and that was great. We came back on our last morning and got cold brews and a pastry, which were both excellent. Excellent atmosphere and location. It is very busy on the weekends, but there is definitely plenty of space and social distancing to where it doesn't feel crowded. Coffee is strong! I ordered the iced oatmilk vanilla latte and it was very strong for me. Personally, I prefer a smoother espresso, BUT it was very enjoyable and definitely woke me up. Vanilla was not able to be tasted in the drink, but again... it is probably overpowered by the boldness of the espresso roast. The kimchi burrito was DELICIOUS. Although I wasn't a fan of the strong coffee (again, that's a personal preference of mine to have a less dark roast), the burrito was amazing, slightly spicy, but not too extreme... a perfect combination for a strong iced coffee. The burrito was a perfect combination with the iced vanilla oatmilk latte. Baristas were pleasant and helpful. I appreciated their friendliness. Both were very helpful and had no problem answering my questions about the menu and describing the tastes. The barista even mentioned that the espresso roast is very bold so I guess I should have seen that coming. Lol. Will be back!! read more

Let's celebrate the uniqueness of every place.. Slow Burn captures my thumbs up with the Red Chile Chai drink. I modified mine with a shot of espresso, half the usual honey and used oat milk (more sustainable than almond milk). Delicious! Staff has my drink done by time I paid and moved down the counter to the other side of the espresso machine Outside seating is perfect to see the local residents come and go. This is a gem of a location. Where the neighbors bike and people connect. Food was sparse with burritos offered from elsewhere. (I did not sample them). But their roasting machine was the focus of the inside area and so well deserved. read more

My husband and I stopped in on our way out of Albuquerque driving into Texas. He wanted Starbucks but I wanted to try something local! Upon arriving, their sign was hard to miss, right on the corner. I noticed they also had a breakfast burrito food truck stationed outside which I thought was cool and convenient. After viewing the menu on the truck I decided against it (tofu in my burrito? No thanks). Unfortunately, when walking in the atmosphere was a little weird. I initiated the "hello" to both baristas who seemed to need a cup of morning coffee themselves. For someone trying their coffee for the first time I would have definitely appreciated a recommendation or two but no such conversation was had. I ended up with a basic latte and my husband a cold brew. My latte was a little cold, probably from the milk. I also decided to buy a bag of coffee beans to try myself at home. Overall, I wasn't too impressed. Definitely think they need to improve customer service and hopefully I can visit again when they have their indoor dining tables available. read more

They have some really good coffee. I ordered the vanilla latte and I didn't want the last sip to end. Such a cool little spot! The staff was super friendly. I loved the vibe.
