Ok, I need to get out more. The last time I visited La Luz at at their Balloon Fiesta booth. The last time I visited their brick and rotary location was when it was a mobile operation. Wow, how things have changed! When you visit La Luz, be sure you walk in through the front door, it is amazing. IYKYK. The front door sets the stage for coffee and ambiance. Again IYKYK. Interior is great and was filled with a lot of folks catching up on their computers, which is cool. The patio is really what sets this apart from other true New Mexico coffee hot spots. Spacious, good shade structures and spaced well. This will definitely be on my rotation for local coffee shops. read more

What a great local gem in the north valley. I grew up in the north valley and this has been so many things. Finally the North Valley has a great local coffee house. I was shocked when I walked in by how big it was inside. Tons of tables which by the way were filled up. Lots of happy customers drinking latte's, coffee and teas. Eating a burrito or a pastry. And if you want to bear the cooler temps, there's lots of seats outside too. Loved the atmosphere, the specials, the homemade syrups and the happy smiles behind the counter making coffee and drinks for patrons. Stop by, find a seat and enjoy! read more

I come here way too often. Haha. I love reading outside and with all the plants on the couch. I L Love the risen area with a the plug options. The music Playlist here is always the best. & I love all the people that work here. I've also attended a few local events here. The plants here make everything that much better, the entire shop is set up well. Sometimes it can be extremely packed but that's because it's really good. One of my favorite things to snack on with my coffee when I'm here is the cifge cake or the prickly pear donut. YUM! read more

I've been on a quest for a good Oat Milk Latte here and finally, FINALLY found one worthy of my "guy from Seattle" desire for a good one. Just for that alone I love this place. But add their delicious fresh squeezed lemonade and the excellent chill vibe and friendly baristas and I'm in. It has that concrete industrial look, but a large variety of good, comfortable seating, a few quiet nooks and a great patio. In general I've been finding people a thousand times more friendly in ABQ than Seattle(research the Seattle Freeze), but the customers here are really friendly and not afraid to say hi or smile as you walk by. OMG I finally got to try this spot! I got a maple donut, rosemary and olive oil bagel with cream cheese, and a hot La Luz latte (vanilla and rosemary). The latte and bagel were incredible! Next time I would skip the donut (even though it was my kids who requested it). Plenty of parking and tons of space to sit inside. I like that there was a couch, super cozy. I have been wanting to check out this place forever and so their new space was the perfect excuse to stop by. It's really cute in an area that I don't normally go to. They have some good options for standard coffee and tea. I ordered the la Luz latte and I really liked it. It was basically a vanilla Matcha, but the coffee was good. It did look like they had some pastry options, but at 10 AM on a Friday they were pretty much sold out. They do have some toast and other food options though. Staff was fast and friendly. They gave us a number and came out to us with our drinks. I know it's recently opened and pretty popular so they were very packed and seating was limited. I popped into La Luz at the end of a busy day for a little pick-me-up. They opened their new brick and mortar location recently, and I enjoyed the peaceful building and the friendly staff. First less-than-stellar experience here I don't know if the coffee beans were from the bottom of the barrel, or it was a bad batch, or what, but the LA Luz blend was quite bitter today.. There was a shortage of plates, and thigs felt generally disorganized. I'm usually fine with paying higher than average prices ,because I've always had a higher than average experience before today. I love all the community events they put on here. They have nice options for pastries but their decaf coffee was not good. The flavor was kind of sour and very diluted. I would come here for the vibe and the pastries but not for the coffee. They have teas too which I have not tried perhaps those are good. I was only in Albuquerque for a couple days. Came here every morning. Great coffee spot. Good coffee, pastries/baked goods. Doesn't look like they'd serve breakfast burritos but they do. I went here recently and while I was waiting for my coffee, I notice the baristas move over to the cash register and started waiting on people. I then see her pulling a bunch of dollar bills and coins out of register to give someone change. She then went back to making coffee, touching cups and lids without washing her hands. Money is one of the filthiest things you can touch. Pretty sure that would La Lux a yellow or red review by inspectors. I wiped down my coffee cup and lid but I still had a hard time enjoying it. Dang this was a great idea. Full service drive through coffee bar with amazing food. We had their drip coffee and a lavender latte. If you like lavender, this latter is for you. Not too sweet with great espresso flavor. Try the breakfast burrito, I chose the steak with green and it filled me up past lunch (just don't expect one on the weekend). Sometimes you see a very special project and just have to stop and find out the story. La Luz Coffee Hut is located in the north valley of Albuquerque on Griegos rd and 12th st. This little pop up was closed for awhile due to covid and is now open. As I drove past the other day, I noticed cars lined up so I decided to see what the deal was. The shop started as a few pop up tents and is now quite the eclectic combination of wooden pallets, sheet metal and flashing lights. The smell of fresh brewed coffee saturates the intersection as the lattes, cappuccinos and baked goods call to travelers and pedestrians alike. I drove up and was greeted warmly, placed my order and bought a cinnamon roll the size of a dinner plate. A cup of black coffee finished the order and I drove away happy.
