This is an amazing little gem tucked away downtown. The pineapple danish was such a unique treat, delicate puff pastry. The Sandia Peak with oat milk and sugar-free vanilla was rally refreshing. Stopped by this coffee shop after hearing that the owner's grandfather owns a coffee plantation in Colombia, where they source their beans. Always love supporting small, local spots that have that kind of story behind them. I tried their Aztec Latte, one of their signature drinks made with espresso, sweetened condensed milk, and cinnamon. I was a little unsure at first since I'm not a big fan of cinnamon, but it ended up being super mild and creamy. We also got the Red Chili Mocha, which has espresso, milk, red chili, and chocolate. I expected more of a kick from the chili, but it was actually on the milder side as well. Since it was a little chilly in Albuquerque, we went for hot lattes, which definitely hit the spot. We split a couple of toasts too. The avocado toast came with hummus, avocado, and a drizzle of sriracha. I liked that the hummus was the base instead of just plain avocado. I think it added a nice creamy layer that worked perfectly with the sourdough and spice. The Caprese toast was classic: pesto, mozzarella, balsamic, and tomatoes. Also a solid choice. Amazing little trip to the brew!! What a cute and inviting shop, the atmosphere is great with enjoyable music lots of seating and super friendly baristas. I can't think of many better community spots than a great local coffee shop. For me, The Brew is the definition of a community focused spot. I hang out there and I run into friends and beyond. Amtrak's southwest chief stopped in Albuquerque for an hour on my trip from LA to Chicago so I found this coffee shop near the train station. Beautiful artwork decorates the walls, providing an eclectic and welcoming vibe. I was greeted as soon as I got to the counter, and the service was prompt and friendly. Back on my train, I was happy to savor the cinnamon roll while we rolled out of the station. The frosting was quite sweet, but the roll nicely balanced it by being far less sweet. Delicious breakfast downtown at The Brew. Today they had 3 different kinds of burritos to choose from, and we both chose the Bacon Green Chile. They are premade, and warmed up for you. Fluffy eggs, smoky bacon, hash browns, cheese and chile inside. The Red Chile mocha had a great balance of flavor, with rich chocolate and warmth from the chile. We parked on the street and walked into a charming, little cafe where we were immediately greeted. The Brew offers plenty of indoor seating and seems great for working or studying. I was told the coffee is from Colombia, and all the signature lattes sounded very enticing. I asked the barista who may or may not also be the owner for a recommendation. I've always had a huge sweet tooth, and growing up, I loved licking condensed milk covered spatulas whenever my mom baked. However, there is parking found nearby requiring some walking. Had their Aztec Latte and Busy Bee latte. The espresso flavor in both drinks was well-defined being bold with that roast component. Their sweet component did not overpower the drink but rather was a subtle aftertaste that balanced the drink. Neither drink was overly milky, which believe it or not frequently occurs in coffee shops. The baristas were professional and welcoming. Hi! My kids and I drove down to the Brew on a Saturday morning. The drive was 30 minutes and so worth the trip for us. Being down town freaks me out a little because it's always a new experience. The location was easy to find and their was plenty of parking all though they were meter parking. Please make sure you don't let your meter run out because the officers are on top of it handing out tickets. I tried one of their signature lattes called "The Crazy Monkey" (with expresso, milk, banana and chocolate) with a croissant. Very addicting! My kids both had hot cocoas with honey buns that were made fresh by the way. The staff was friendly, it's always nice when you can have a conversation about the menu and food. The building was very cute and decorated nicely. There is art work for sale displayed on the walls. We personally enjoyed viewing them. Another 5 star rating! What's not to like? It's a cute place with a comfortable and artsy ambience. Even the coffee was embellished with creamy designs! The staff was very friendly and welcoming. There were plenty of different kinds of seating. We sat in upholstered chairs by the front window. There was even a corner with some books on shelves for those interested. In the back was an outdoor seating area next to a parking lot for people who don't do indoor seating. The menu is really different with lots of tempting coffee drinks. I ordered the Crazy Monkey with espresso, milk, banana syrup, and chocolate. My companion had the Turtle Latte which had espresso, milk, caramel, and chocolate. We both thought they were yummy! Other options were Cafe con Coco and Red Chile Mocha. The prices were pleasantly reasonable. For pastries, we got a cinnamon roll and chocolate croissant which we requested to be heated. I liked the croissant much better and he liked the roll much better. We shouldn't have split! At 9:50 on a Saturday, we didn't have a big choice of types of pastries available. We'll try to go earlier next time. As typical for downtown, we did have to pay for parking but the machine took quarters or credit cards and it was only a dollar for an hour. This is one of those instances where I wish I would have just went to Starbucks instead of trying to support small, local business. We arrived on a quiet morning during COVID operations. There was no one in line and no one waiting for drinks. We placed our order and then painfully waited over 15 minutes for 2 drinks. While waiting, the girl barista shit talked the customer before us while sadly attempting to start a pour over. The set up of the pour over took an excruciating long time-- this is a coffee shop? This hidden gem is a really nice place for a Saturday morning coffee. The barista was extremely friendly and inviting upon entry. He was kind, greeted my friend and me with a smile, and was very pleasant about answering our questions about the menu. The cafe is cute, organized, clean, and the artwork on the walls is just amazing and colorful. The cafe really does have an inviting environment and atmosphere. The coffee itself was pretty good. I had a version of a caramel latte and was content with my coffee experience. While I personally like my coffee a bit stronger, I definitely recommend trying this coffee or a latte here if you are more into a subtle and sweet flavor of coffee. After reading a bit about this cafe, I discovered that the owners are Colombian migrants. I lived in Bogota for a year and so it was nice to get a sense of Colombia in this restaurant. The barista (whom I believe is the owner) is Spanish speaking and therefore anyone who might be looking for a cafe to go to that is Spanish speaking can rest easy knowing that. Additionally, the artwork on the walls was extremely colorful which also gave it a more South American escape feel. It was great to have this mini world adventure all whilst being located in downtown Albuquerque. The location is really cute and centrally located. Parking was not as bad as I thought it might be, but be aware of the parking meter officers because they really are waiting for time to expire on the meters. Add some avocado toast for breakfast and there you have it. So we have a the turtle made with dark chocolate(adds the usual bitterness dark chocolate brings - definitely not a complaint) and a hint of caramel, yes it's good! The busy bee has honey and a touch of lavender that brings out the flavor of the honey. Then there's the toast. Toast topped with hummus, 3 nice sized slices of avocado topped with a sprinkling of sriracha and sprouts. Probably the best avocado toast I've had. A great breakfast. read more

I have been meaning to write this review for awhile but just hadn't gotten around to it. The benefit of this is I've had a chance to try quiet a few of their drinks. From here I've tried the Aztec Latte, the cafe con coco, the cappuccino, and lattes one made with almond milk and one with oat milk and out of all of those every single one was super good! Hard to pick a favorite but maybe the Aztec latte? Cappuccinos are my go to when trying new coffee places so I've had quiet a few and at the moment this is my favorite here in Abq. They don't make it traditionally but it is well smooth and usually made on the wetter side which is typically my preference. I am a sucker for their cinnamon rolls and the staff is always welcoming. I love that they showcase art from local artists. The space is bright, always clean and has a fun variety of seating options. Their prices are on the lower end of the local coffee shops in town which is just a bonus! I don't plan on changing my mind anytime soon and will keep coming back. read more

Oh boy! Nothing but five star things to say about this cute little shop on Gold street. Its kind of appropriate actually, the address. This place is absolutely gold! So the reason you're probably there in the first place, the coffee... Its SO good! The flavors are subtle so they don't override the actual flavor of the beans. This is SUCH a welcome change from the mermaid coffee place! I had the Crazy monkey that had subtle hints of banana and was just the littlest bit sweet. B had the Aztec, where the cinnamon and the sweet was just right, not overpowering. We also tried a chocolate croissant, and when I bit in to all that buttery, flakey pastry, I swear I felt like I had been transported to France. Because that's the last place I was that I had a pastry that good. I think this has to be our go to coffee shop from now on. Its lovely inside too, with plenty of seating and counter space to work on (though there are limited numbers of super comfy chairs to sit and read a book in so maybe go at an off hour if you want one of those). The Brew is a hip coffeehouse right in the heart of Downtown. They have the two-person work tables if you're there to wi-fi it, and they have the ultra comfy, get-lost-in, couch-like chairs for sipping warm decaf lattes followed by deep afternoon naps. They are open long hours, which is what Downtown ABQ needs. Seven to 7 most days of the week. Their hours are short for a Saturday, so if you're gonna hang out, get there early, and be prepared to leave mid-afternoon. I wish they were open Sundays, but in their favor, they are at The Rail Yards Market that day. They have a great variety of brews and fun concoctions. Healthier, yet still decadent treats, like quinoa cookies. And then there's the truly decadent treats like their Keylime Coconut scone. Get outta town! Yeah! They have all the traditional coffee, tea and spritzer drinks. And they have ones with that extra special something like their Red Chile Mocha, which is made with chocolate and red chile syrup. Tell me that doesn't sound good! A couple of their other creative drinks are Crazy Monkey, which is a mix of banana, caramel and cinnamon; and their Cafe Con Coco, which features 100% real cream of coconut. They support local, because they grow their own beans -- though in Colombia on their family farm -- and roast them right here in the 505 through their original company, Villa Myriam. They blend their own teas and have a nice selection. They also make a tasty concoction, Zingtopia, which is an exotic fruit puree. They have zanilicious fruits like guanabana, lulo and papayuela. It can be used in a variety of ways, including spritzers, desserts, salad dressings, baked goods and more. You can test these flavors out in their spritzers. I could sip these all. day. long.
