So I just moved to ALB in August. I've passed this place probably 6-12 times as I go up for a hike on the sandia crest. I finally stopped by on a Saturday morning after a hike with my daughter (6 months), she won't remember this. However you will if you go. It's a super cute coffee shop, with a lovely wooden/mountain-ish vibe. I thought it was awesome. The barista's are awesome, and even had a conversation with me about hiking wheeler peak (easy-difficult etc). I'm excited to do that hike next week. I got an oatmilk PSL. Yup, the white girl in me loves the season flavors. It was delicious, tasty, and the foam art. I mean, They do such nice foam art, but I was on the go, so the appreciation is there. Cabra coffee has been on my list for quite a while now and so I was delighted to finally have a chance to check them out. I decided to stop by before driving up the back of the mountain with a friend. They conveniently have a drive-through, which was very nice considering how much snow we have gotten recently and all the mud in the parking lot. There are posted menus that you can read before you get to the window and I decided to get a breakfast burrito as well as a 12 ounce lavender latte. I will say the coffee smelt amazing and it was a really good latte but the size felt small. I would probably get a 16 ounce next time around and hopefully will return when the weather isn't so gross so that I can enjoy the interior. The building was really cute from the outside and very convenient to get to right off the main road. As for the breakfast burrito, as someone who has lived in New Mexico, their entire life and eaten a solid amount of breakfast burritos, I've never seen such a paper thin burrito. It was basically 75% tortilla. For $4.50 I absolutely would not purchase another one. The chile was decently spicy but really overall not great. read more

This is such a cute coffee shop out on the east mountains! My husband and I were stay in the mountains for a weekend getaway, and as usual, I got to check my coffee map. We stopped at Cabra Coffee to get some fuel for our drive from Albuquerque to Santa Fe and it was a great stop to make ! Location/parking: It's right off the road and very easy to get to! Especially since we weren't familiar with the area at all, we appreciated how easy it was to access. There's tons of parking as well Environment/ space: There's a lot of outside seating with covered patio space. When we stopped there wasn't much traffic on the road (I can't imagine There's ever much traffic) and there was a lovely breeze flowing through as well. The interior has quite a bit of seating and one really cute nook with string lights in it. There's also some great photography available for sale around the place that ties back to nature which I loved ! Coffee: The Coffee is amazing ! It's probably some of the best coffee we've had ! We've gone here when it was Kokopelli's so it's been many years. Cabra Cafe has great coffee, food, and chai. We often go here with our dog, order some food and coffee and sit out on the patio. Then we walk our dog on the nearby trailhead. It's a pleasant ride from Albuquerque and in the winter, it often snows. So pretty. Highly recommend! read more

I'd never stopped here myself to get coffee but always had co-workers or friends stop by here. I ordered a lavender latte and it was wonderful as well as a gluten-free coconut macaroon. I wish there were more options for gluten-free, but I understand it isn't feasible or affordable for small coffee shops to have a wide selection. The coffee was at a great temperature and was wonderful. I was a little confused by a $0.75 upcharge if you wanted an iced version of a drink, as it isn't much more work nor extra costs that are prohibitive for a business. I worked in a small coffee shop during college and it was just as much time to prepare cold as hot drinks, we even used iced coffee cubes to prevent dilution. The drive-thru line was fairly slow, which is the deduction of my star. I waited over 30 minutes and had I realized how long the line would have been, it would have been better for me time-wise and environmentally wise to not run my car waiting. Overall a great place. I also appreciate that when visiting smaller places like this, I am much less likely to get dairied by accident and spend the rest of my day out of service. read more

Unexpected phenomenal find outside of Albuquerque! We stumbled across this gem in the mountains during our drive from Montana back to Texas. In an almost 2000 mile road trip, this was hands down the best coffee we've had since we left home. For the true coffee lover, this spot met every expectation. Truly the best coffee in the ABQ-Bernalillo area and East Mountains. I have felt this way for several years now. I am a bit of a coffee snob and while I do have my favorite neighborhood cafes in the Q, Cabra stays in my heart as the best espresso I've had since living in New Mexico. The few times I've used their bathrooms, they are always clean and well maintained. The crew are always friendly and are courtesy to ensure they are taking customers first come first served.
