This place definitely falls into the first category. This morning I went with the single origin Guatemala drip, and it was exactly what a solid cup of coffee should be. Smooth, rich, and balanced with a nice chocolate note that hangs around just long enough to make you take another sip. No bitterness. No burnt taste. Just a clean, well-roasted cup that says someone here actually cares about the beans. The shop itself has a personality, which I always appreciate. It's decorated with fishing lures, fish artwork, and sculptures scattered around the place. Naturally this leads to the obvious conclusion: the owner is either an avid fisherman... or coffee roasting is just the side hustle between trout expeditions. Either way, the theme works. The space feels relaxed, creative, and comfortable. The kind of place where you can sit with a cup and not feel rushed out the door. And speaking of doors, while I was there there was a steady flow of customers coming in and out. That's usually the universal coffee signal for yep, this place is doing something right. For the price, I would expect freshly made croissants however these were difficult to cut through and seemed tough. All in all, for $50+ we got two large lattes and two specialty croissants. There is only one size (12oz) so I grabbed two since I'm a traveling man today. I like my coffee so needed that spare. Cinnamon rolls can be found but overall this is a coffee shop. Not like grandma's hash slinging eggs over easy, coffee, reading, chatting, and just enjoying the day in general. If I had more time, I would have written some on my dissertation this morning. The donuts are also pretty great and make a great complement to the coffee. I enjoyed the place so much that I even bought two of the cute coffee mugs, one for me and one for my friend who loves it.
