I have a love/hate relationship with Home Depot. They have cheaper prices than Lowe's and other hardware stores around, but a lot of times, it's not in stock. I hate navigating the aisles to find what I need. In truth, I'm the definition of the female stereotype when it comes to hardware stores and fixing things ("we just need to put a thingy over that thingy.") Typically, I go into the store only with my husband or friends. Otherwise, I'm looking immediately for someone to guide me to what I need. Usually, I go there to check out appliances and prices and find someone to make a copy of a key for me. Sometimes, I'm tagging along with my husband or friends to find things to fix the hole in the wall or some type of wood. Almost every time I come here to get someone to make a key, the person needs to be paged and takes forever to show up. Or if I ask a person for help, it's not in their section, and they have to page that person for help, which takes that person forever to show up. My favorite story about Home Depot is how they have custom-made doors you can buy. We wanted a fiberglass door, but our front door is smaller than average because the house was built in the 1950s. Well, they could not fulfill our custom-made request because they come in pre-made sizes. We had someone out to our home to measure and everything. They said they could do custom wood doors, but it's fiberglass or bust! Some termite is just waiting to sink its teeth into the wood! Where was I? Oh yeah. Suppose you see a lost-looking woman wandering around in Home Depot alone. In that case, I'm looking for my husband/friends or someone to tell me where I should go in extreme detail, cause I'm not exactly doing well in the directions department either. read more

When you order online for an order to be delivered to a residential address and the delivery service says they couldn't deliver the items because the business was not open. So then you contact the delivery service and Ai says they will contact me in 48hr. So I call Home Depot to cancel order and they connect me to the online order dept. and the man that answered asked me if I would like to file a complaint and when I said yes he said he would go get the person so zzI could file a complaint. I waited on the phone for over 20 minutes and he never returned so I left the phone on and 15 minutes later someone without saying anything just hung up the phone. read more

Absolute incompetence. I purchased $27000 in cabinets and countertops with my card... then Home Depot turned me down on an $11000 order using the same card! They have what I need. They have 16 ft baseboards, and you saw it yourself. They had two tables with the hand saw (not the electric one) out on the aisle. I did ask for help to cutting the 16 ft into 8 ft pieces. I am not sure on the rules for the do it yourself for the baseboards such as asking an employee. I got the help I needed from an employee though since I never used a saw before. I needed to pick up some last minute materials for the contractor who was working at my parents house. I was not experienced with this at all but i got the help I needed. Be prepared to wait if it is a busy day. I also think if you buy a lot of pieces and you need them cut, they will probably have a cutting charge. I would not expect precise cuts either. The lumber section operates differently where they use the electric saw. I believe they do a certain number of cuts for free and then charge after X number of cuts. I think it kind of depends on what you want and how labor/time intensive the cuts are. I attached some prices from August 2024 if it helps anyone. I know some people like the photos with prices and items they have available. When I pulled up my car in front of the store to pick up my items, I noticed one area for improvement. It would be helpful if employees asked customers if they need assistance with carrying items to their cars or if they would like the option to pull up closer for loading if you have heavy items. Additionally, offering a shopping cart to customers walking around carrying heavy items would enhance the shopping experience. I did appreciate that one employee approached me and offered a shopping cart. Overall, I appreciated the help I recieved at this store. I am thankful for the employee who helped me cut the baseboard in half and the two folks who helped load my car out front. The two paint section employees were very nice and helpful too. read more

My husband and I are in the process of remodeling our very first home. We've been coming to Home Depot a lot more lately and before this one incident have had great service and pleasant experiences. We were shopping for tile for a kitchen backsplash we were between colors for an antique white & bright white tile. They had a lot of bright white but no antique white in stock for us to purchase. So we ended up ordering the antique white online for in store pick up. So we can take it home and look at it with our cabinets and decide which one we wanted. We got an email saying that some of the tile we order for in store pick up was damaged during the process and to either call or come into the store to inspect the product and discuss our options. We went into the store, and she showed us one box. We told her since we already know we're just going to stick with the bright white we wanted to cancel this order. She informed us that we couldn't cancel until the whole order was complete (this means I'd have to wait until the rest of the four boxes to come) We waited for the email or someone to contact us about the rest of the order. We decide to call after awhile to check on it to which they said we've already picked up the order. To my surprise. This wasn't true. We never got any email/notification that the order was completed and ready for pick up. I double checked on the app and to my surprise it said "order canceled" . She transferred us over to the manager and we explained to her what happened. She let us know that she could review footage and get back to us in 72 hours. She never got back to us. So we called again and went through everything all over again with explaining how we never got the refund, we never picked up the completed order. She replied with yes I see you on camera opening the box and taking 3 boxes home on June 29. Complete shock! I asked if we could see the footage which she said no we do not show customer footage. How can she see us on a day we didn't come in? Also, why 3 boxes when we order 5. Got charged for five boxes? I asked if we should just come in to the store to figure it out (since I have all the info on my phone on the app. Plus emails) which she said no don't come into the store I will have a second party review this and get back to you in 72 hours. I replied, will we really get a call back in 72 hours? She said yes sweetheart you will. But from her tone it was sarcastic. We never got any calls back or resolution. I messaged the corporate chat and they just referred me back to the store and was no help what so ever. I'm literally in shock about this whole situation. I wish she would've review this issue with a new set of eyes and not right off the bat treat us like we're some kind of scammers or something. We've spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars here and never had any issues. I'm only writing this review to warn customers about their in store pick up I hope this never happens to anyone else. It's been super stressful and disappointing that we never got our refund or call back. But most importantly I feel like I lost trust in Home Depot it's such a shame. So now we are stuck with losing 327 dollars. Which might sound petty to some, but for first time home owners who work hard everyday to provide for our family this was just a bigger hit on reality, and others will not do the right thing . Shawn in tool rentals was a lifesaver! In all my years going to Home Dept, the wood cutter is either out of order or for one reason or another, not able to cut wood. This time it was out again and I ended up needing to rent a truckbed for a few pieces of wood. When I expressed my frustration, Shawn heard me out, asked how many pieces and it was 10 pieces. He made a call, got permission to just cut the pieces. I APPRECIATED so much his efforts and assistance because we were done in 5 minutes and I was able to go about my day. I went into the store in search of a shop vac. As anyone who has been into a Home Depot can tell you, it can be daunting to find what you need or to get any help. Today was different. I walked around for a bit in search of my shop vac, when I had the good fitting of being greeted by Ryan. From the top down of management you get the vibe that they are one or two cuts below their competition or other Home depots. In Oxnard we have avoided their Home Depot in past years... And recently we had reason to go in and be reminded how crappy it is. This includes stored management where we had direct contact... I actually feel pretty sorry for the local residents who use Home Depot here. They probably have no idea how bad it is compared to other locations for Home Depot... (Unfortunately I didn't get his name) I came here to get a round piece of board, but the one I wanted was from online only so he helped me fine a piece of plywood & told me how to cut it with a jigsaw. I purchased a $3000 refrigerator via online per the customer service rep because they didn't have it in stock and it would be faster for me to finalize and set delivery than sitting and waiting for the next CSR to finish with the waiting customers. All communications from that purchase stated NOTHING of a 48 hr return policy! After our contractor was ready for the install the fridge was dented in 3 spots and it was outside of the 48hr window!
