We are starting a van convention, and were having hard time finding Baltic birch plywood for our sub-floor. Mayan hardwood had it in different sizes, as well as thickness, and the staff was super helpful. I also notice the prices of some items I little lower than in other stores such as homedepot. We will be coming for more wood for our project! I also forgot my wallet with my ID, cash, and credit card, and they kept it for me to pick up a little after closing time, which I appreciated very much! read more

Mayan rules. The customer service is helpful, friendly, and they allow you to really take your time. Pulling out boards and selecting just the right one is no problem. Bought one white oak board here, measured 11" wide 9'2" long, which is calculated to be 8.5 BF, but they charged 10 BF on the receipt. They have good selection here, but be aware of the overcharge. read more

Been shopping at Mayan Hardwood sense they first opened in Camarillo. Always been fair, good service and good selection wood and materials.

Excellent selection, fair prices, excellent service. If you need hardwood, or cabinet hardware, you can't go wrong here.

Very nice selection of hardwoods and hardwood plywoods (Baltic Birch in both sheets and pre-cut drawer forms). Good selection of drawer and door hardware, and a variety of trims. Prices are somewhat lower than Conejo Hardwoods, with a whole lot less attitude. No cutting offered to non-contractor customers, at least on my first few visits. Somewhat inconvenient if you don't have a pickup or van. read more

The girls in the front counter area are helpful and seem to be able to direct you to just what you need in hinges. The selection of hardwoods is pretty good, but the most honestly, I dread having to go there because I KNOW that the lumber area customer service is beyond awful. You can go in and quickly pick out what you want, but good luck getting someone to write you up. I stood waiting this morning for about 1/2 hr. as a couple workers floated by purposely making no eye contact. One guy was on the forklift and wouldn't break to help anyone. Another guy came out from the front office but when I asked him to get written up, he said he didn't do that. The crowd of guys waiting for help (as usual) grew and every customer's face told the same story. Come on owner/managers, if you care, get more help out there, or maybe just more motivated help. read more

The only reason I gave a 2 star is because they actually have some of the items I needed that Home Depot and Lowes doesn't carry but there customer service is beyond awful. I asked the guy at the custom cabinet desk a question and he told me I gave you the brochure and that he couldn't help me with any questions I had and then proceeded to sit back down at the desk to do nothing. When I asked him again he rudely told me to look in the brochure! Don't hurt yourself helping people!! read more

Nowhere else local to get these woods. I was referred by a fine cabinetmaker & by an all-around construction guy both. Do your homework on what you need 1st. My project was to restore an antique park bench with cast iron end pieces and teak or mahogany slats. A few of the 1" back slats were damaged or missing. Waiting for the right plank to be cut to my lengths took awhile. Bench not yet complete however when it is done it'll last at least another 100 years. Wish Mayan had certified woods to ensure consumers aren't contributing to deforestation & global warming. read more

Oh man, I was in a pickle and Mayan Hardwood saved me! I have a home that we purchased new 16 years ago, and we are now ready to sell. Three of my laminate cabinet covers were peeling on the bottom, and needed replacing. All the kitchen cabinet businesses, that I called, said they couldn't do replacement for three, that they only do complete kitchen replacements. Off to Home Depot & Lowe's I went. Both were helpful, but couldn't really replace for me. One of the Lowe's assocate, recommended Mayan Hardware. Walked in with the cabinet cover, and right away, yes they could replace exactly what I had in my kitchen! We received them in record time! Excellant service and super nice staff! I have been in person once and phoned in at least two orders to them for my contractor to pick up. They have always had the items there in stock which meant no lag time for the projects. I was referred to Mayan hardware from our woodworking contractor. He spoke very highly of them said we should stop by to look at some butcher block. From the moment we walked in we felt like we were inconveniencing them. Their staff was absolutely in no way shape or form helpful, in fact when we ask questions we were just told that it was out of stock or it wasn't available or it would take too long to order. When this business opened, many years ago, on my first two visits the staff were disrespectful and downright rude. That is certainly not the case now; everyone is respectful, helpful and polite. I found the prices to be appropriate for the products they sell, especially hardwoods. Great place, plain and simple. The long winded reviewer, all due respect, sounds like a lot of decorators I used to work for, who don't know what they want and ask you to move the same stuff ten times. There is plenty of expertise here as to wood, make your own decisions about what you're there for IMO and you'll be fine. It's not a Nordstrom's. The prices are great and I'm a serious hobbyist woodworker and have been to all the local shops and this has the best pricing and selection of all the local shops. If Mayan wasn't the only "game in town" I'd never go back. I've been going there for years for a variety of home improvements and everybody from the owner down to the clerks (with the exception of Veronica) at the counter are rude, not knowledgeable, nor responsive to customers needs. I went in to the store 5 times to get the proper hinges for my full overlay cabinet doors and no one could sell me the correct ones. Holy cow, considering they are specialty shop for cabinet doors, hardwood, hinges etc. one would think someone would know what's going on. Avoid if possible. read more
