Bottom Line: You can not trust anything Prime Stone tells you. I completed a major rebuild of a house and out of the dozens of vendors I dealt with Prime Stone was by far the worst. Their prices and delivery times would change every time I talked to them. If I came close to an order the "price" would increase per the owner. If I wanted to discuss things directly with him, he would be impossible to get a hold of. Also they made me purchase material samples, which I needed to coordinate with my designer- I worked with vendors from SLO to Reseda, and they were the only ones to do that- and they would overcharge for that, supposedly because "customers would take advantage of that privilege" (yeah- makes no sense). They repeatedly guaranteed a full refund when I returned the unused samples. Of course when I returned the samples they would not honor that promise. They said they were mislabeled(?), used(?) , not theirs(?) and were too old (?). Total BS. Worse- when I politely asked to get my money back I was insulted (called stupid and a poor businessperson), asked to leave. When I then asked to talk to the owner I was told they would call the police. I have been a Ventura resident for forty years and this is was my worst ever experience with a local business. Avoid. I purchased four scoops of rock from this place on four separate occasions. The first was good. The second was very light as in not giving the promised amount. The third was full of sand and the forth was about 60% rock and 40% dirt. That is definitely a rip off. I called to complain and they said, "Oh yeah people always complain about that." Wow how encouraging. I knew they would not give me a refund. Shame on this place for giving dirt to their customers. Definitely fraud. Like adding water to beer to make it look like you are receiving the full mug. Will never shop here again and I do not recommend this place. I had to work double just to clean out the dirt from the rocks. I included some pictures to see for yourself. Would have been better off going to Home Depot and purchasing bags of stone. TERRIBLE - working at my building on masonry work and cut right into my unit, spreading dust and dirt all over home, refused to stop despite multiple requests. Apparently owner knew this would happen and didn't bother to alert me or management co. Now a lot of damage that needs to be repaired and could have easily been avoided with advance notice and interior protection. I have asthma and now home is inundated with dust, dirt, and debris. Also entered my balcony without permission and placed equipment on there, ripping the paint off. Horrible experience and service. read more

His estimate ended up being the perfect amount! He was honest and presented many options depending on the cost. The prices were fair. Customer service could benefit from a class on professionalism. ***BUYER BEWARE*** When we purchased bags of sand, we were told we should buy extra and just return any unopened/unused bags. When we went to return the unopened/unused bags, we were told there is a 25% restocking fee. However, their receipt only states there is a restocking fee on blocks. After speaking with the manager (Manny) he pointed to a small inconspicuous sign on the far wall that says 25% restocking fee on all materials. He had zero interest in hearing our concern about the miscommunication from his employee, and laughed when we suggested the staff should inform buyers of the policy noted on the sign. read more

Would put a zero if it was available. Customer service in the store to purchase, underwhelming. Start with one person to get costs, finish with a second person and magically there are 2 more costs with your order. (FYI- The delivery fee is ridiculously high.) You sign paperwork, but they don't tell you all sales are final. It's on the form though. They say they will call the next business day to let you know when they will deliver and then they just show up the following day with a phone call when they are at your address. Placed an order for 190 2'x2' pavers on 3/17/21 and was told it would be delivered the following week and that I can cancel any time prior to delivery. For the following 2 weeks, Prime Masonry provided every possible excuse for why the delivery is delayed but didn't actually deliver any pavers. Since we were on a tight schedule, we ended up finding a different merchant who had the pavers in stock. When trying to cancel the order with Prime Masonry, they refuse to cancel the order and after months of back & forth, they now refuse to cancel the order, deliver the pavers OR provide store credit. They claim this was a "special order" despite the item being a standard item in their offering...this is pure theft and while we are going to resolve this in a legal manner, others should know of this business practice and note their BBB rating. read more

Have always liked this place and recommended it until today. I went to get gravel to use as a base for a pebble patio. I made it clear that I need gravel to use as a base. I was sold 3/8" p gravel, which will not work as a base. They will not return it, now I am out $80 and a truck full of gravel I can't use. I do accept some responsibility in that I didn't know the exact material I needed, and I do know their no return policy on gravel materials, however they told me this would work for what I need and it100% is the wrong material. Acted like gentlemen when buying, like jerks when trying to return. Purchased 500# of 'flagstone.' My wife wanted the mixture of colors this product has, very much including black. We chose the material, with input from the salesman, and they put it on a pallet and went off somewhere to weigh it. I have no idea if it was accurately weighed, or whether they accounted for the weight of the pallet, but we paid our money, and went home. There turned out to be a lot of tan-colored dirt on all sides of the stone, which was easily washed off with a hose and a brush. BUT - As the dirt came off, so did the black. We were now looking at a load of material VERY different than what we chose, and what black was left was sloughing off. I don't want to have to scrape the entire surface, and our mason simply said it was "crap." He said it was basically what happens to lesser-quality stone when it weathers over a long period of time. What it did was change the color of what we purchased! I loaded it back into our truck, and went back to Prime (Oxnard). I was left standing for quite a while as two customers ahead of me were tended to - at one point the back-office lady (very friendly and helpful) asked the one man working if she should send somebody up to help - but the man behind the counter said, "no!" When I was finally face to face, he asked what I wanted - I told him I wanted to return the bad material. He asked me to repeat - as in - "WHAT?" so I repeated. "We don't return stone." and he walked away. I left. My wife called the store to ask if she could talk to somebody else, but ended up talking to the counter guy I had spoken to. Nope - they would not help us. Nor would they exchange for other material they had on hand. She offered to send helpers to do all the unloading for them - nope. She kept asking to speak to somebody in charge, and finally she got a call from the manager, and he said it was entirely "up to him." Don't know what that meant, but apparently it meant "no." After the wife got angry and told him what jerks they were being and what poor customer service they were offering, I don't know why, but he finally said we could bring the material back, but he would charge us 25% to do so. 25%!! I will never set foot on this place again (barring a possible return with less than 25% extortion fee). I will take my business elsewhere. We are house flippers, so we use a lot of stacked stone and other stone products. We have been buying elsewhere, and we will return to doing so. They are NOT going to see any of that business. Our masonry contractor said he stopped buying there a long time ago for much the same reasons, and a few others. read more

I purchased a load of ready mixed concrete and prepaid for a second load, pulled it to my home for a DIY project. Once the first load was poured I rinsed out the mixer and noticed concrete built up on the baffles. I took a piece of rebar and tried to knock it off and it was solid, obviously it was there before I rented the mixer. Picked up the second load and while pouring, the mixer stopped, I checked the gas and it was empty. I filled the tank and continued working. Once I was finished I rinsed out the mixer and pour a very small amount onto my property. My friend returned the mixer and a worker took his finger and wiped his finger on the mixer and showed my friend small grains of sand. Its and cement mixer, it was clean and had a near full tank of gas. Trust me when I say this, "that unit was clean". I took a picture of the ground where I poured the content on the ground and went into Prime to talk with a manager. The manager said he would call me back after he talked with the owner, never got a call. I went into Prime today to talk with the owner. He already had a his mine made up before I said a word... He listened to me tell my story, once I was finished he raised his voice at me and began to tell me how it was returned dirty. I raised my voice back and told him don't raise your voice at me. He then proceeded to tell me to leave his store as a lady came out of the back with her phone filming me. SMH... you give me a mixer with baffles full of cement, no gas and charge me for cleaning and when I share with the owner the situation, he gets mad and raises his voice at me - unbelievable where this world is heading. Trust me... I am not settling for this type of treatment and will be seeking legal counsel, its not about the money, its about what is right and wrong. I was going to purchase 7 pallets of pavers (approx $4k). I found the same pavers at Lowe's and special ordered them. This story is not over - I will post update once I get justice. read more

My husband was really happy to look at a place for new materials but was made more hesitant when dealing with an employee named grant. Grant had made a couple racial comments to him regarding his negative opinion on Mexicans which made my husband extremely uncomfortable. Employee even continued to go on about how the owner has the same view points and that one day he's gonna "run this shithole". Employee also smelled strongly of marijuana. The "great customer service" resulted in them ripping me off for twice the materials I needed. They said I needed 12 scoops of topsoil and needed maybe 5. It has taken me 2 weeks to give away all the extra soil I was sold. About $250 worth of overcharge/order! Luckily, my rock order was scheduled a week after the soil, so I went in a halved my order before it was sent. And guess what? Exactly the amount I needed. That would have been another $250 of over charge/order! I will never go there again and don't recommend you do either. read more

Very friendly staff, especially if you are a newbie. Caters to contractors, but they were very nice to me even though I had never done this stuff before. Ask for Ian (I think he owns the place) - very helpful and nice. My wife said he was pretty good looking - "of course, that's cuz he looks a lot like you," she added rather quickly.
