Miner's Ace Hardware - Outside

I've been going to this Ace for 20 years. Have spent a lot of money there doing ms y renovations. I…read morewas always helped beautiful. But what has happened to this place ? I've had to complain to management both of the last two times I've been there. Just now I asked for help getting a furnace filter off an unreachable shelf. The employee I found d to help me lectured me on ho I should have gotten it myself with the grab stick that was leaning in the aisle. I am a 68 year old woman with injuries. I shouldn't have to lose a grab stick at Ace with a bunch of male employees hanging around the aisles. When I complained to the manager he took no responsibility and said that other manager with the grab stick just fine. Well they are 25 year old male handymen working for other people I said. He didn't seem to get it. Well good thing I don't fall backward getting my own furnace filter or Ace would have a big lawsuit on their hands. Is local Ojai going the way of big box stores in big cities?

The city of Santa Paula is beyond lucky to have a hardware store!…read more I think the outside of the store is misleading as it may seem a very small store. But, it's actually quite large inside! I come in here often; have had keys made, bought some yard signs and locks that were needed. And, huge huge shout out to one of their employees a few months ago. Wish I had gotten his name! I came in as my keyfob remote had crapped out. There was a young man who went over and above to try to help me figure out the issue! He came outside to my car with me, had some technical electrical thing that he used to try to help determine if my car was "reading" the fob or not. We even checked a new battery just in case. Come to find out, it didn't need a new battery: my keyfob no longer works in my 15 year old car. :( But big thanks to the employee who helped me *finally determine it was not a battery issue. Staff is pretty good which is so nice to experience. Of course, during the covid, they all have masks on. I didn't notice if they offered sanitizer at the front door, but they do have a "one way door IN and another door OUT", which is per usual at most businesses now it seems. I just recently found out that they carry Ginger Chews. Who would have known!? I would recommend this Ace Hardware and I know that Santa Paula could sure use the support, too.

When you're done with the wood, someone is usually watching you and they know when you're done usually. Or you can just let them know you're done and you want your form with the wood you got counted. Then you drive back out and park your car to pay inside. Then when you leave that parking lot, you give the guy in the shack your form and the receipt. Then he recounts your wood again. Then the little arm lifts up and you're out. You can rent a lot of tools inside but it's a bit expensive if you rent it for a long time. Might as well buy the tool and resell it on marketplace at that point. There's some drop in showers you can buy here. Also some sink options. There's a bathroom inside if you need to go.

Drive in back and tell Guys what you're looking for. You park right next to shelves of wood. Everyone was very helpful. I was given directions by clerk inside store. Then Employee walking into work, explained to me on his way in, that I needed to get in car, drive over to first driveway and then drive in back. 3 different Guys in back helped me. One even walked in front of my car to direct me from 2x2 wood in front to redwood 2x2. He was also one that directed me to other lumbar yard that does milling. You can't get that kind of attention and help at Big Box Stores! I need the board I'm replacing mitered on one end. They don't do that but directed me to, Builder's First Source. on Thompson l. They sell wood and do milling, so can cut it for me. But they're only open Monday to Sunday.

I have a love/hate relationship with Home Depot. They have cheaper prices than Lowe's and other…read morehardware stores around, but a lot of times, it's not in stock. I hate navigating the aisles to find what I need. In truth, I'm the definition of the female stereotype when it comes to hardware stores and fixing things ("we just need to put a thingy over that thingy.") Typically, I go into the store only with my husband or friends. Otherwise, I'm looking immediately for someone to guide me to what I need. Usually, I go there to check out appliances and prices and find someone to make a copy of a key for me. Sometimes, I'm tagging along with my husband or friends to find things to fix the hole in the wall or some type of wood. Almost every time I come here to get someone to make a key, the person needs to be paged and takes forever to show up. Or if I ask a person for help, it's not in their section, and they have to page that person for help, which takes that person forever to show up. My favorite story about Home Depot is how they have custom-made doors you can buy. We wanted a fiberglass door, but our front door is smaller than average because the house was built in the 1950s. Well, they could not fulfill our custom-made request because they come in pre-made sizes. We had someone out to our home to measure and everything. They said they could do custom wood doors, but it's fiberglass or bust! Some termite is just waiting to sink its teeth into the wood! Where was I? Oh yeah. Suppose you see a lost-looking woman wandering around in Home Depot alone. In that case, I'm looking for my husband/friends or someone to tell me where I should go in extreme detail, cause I'm not exactly doing well in the directions department either.
