The older woman feels like she's watching to see if I'll steal every-time I come in. I'll be looking around and I'll be asked by her what I need help with and I'll tell her but then she'll so really quickly "we don't have that." I just went in today to get an air filter and she was rude, I hadn't even looked yet. It was Labor Day weekend, we are 200 miles from home and my child's braces broke while eating lunch. We tried everything but we could not get the wire out. Called her orthodontist and she said to go to a hardware store and purchase a pair of wire cutters. Sanitize them really well and then we should be able to cut them for her to go about her holiday weekend without wire poking holes in her gums. With the help of Yelp, we were able to locate a True Value Hardware a few minutes drive from where we were dining. Upon entering the store, we were immediately greeted and he asked us what we were looking for. We explained our situation and he walked us to the area where there was a wall of wire cutters. Unfortunately, we could not find one that would be able to cut through the wire but he and another gentleman did everything they could to help us find a solution to help my little one. We left empty handed but really appreciated the help and time the team here dedicated to helping us. We really appreciated it. Thankfully, later that evening and several long hours later, we were able to get the wire out without the need of tools. read more

It's fly season! True value has the best fly abatement items! They work great and are reasonably priced! If you have other pest problems ask the expert: David! It seems this year the bugs are more intense because of the rain! Fast friendly service , right to the point! They are also a Mercantile and probably have everything you need local! Wow just wow. For over 15 years I've been buying items from this location. Today I bought a 3 inch flush valve to repair my toilet because the box said "fits Toto" when got home and removed the old valve it was a 2 inch. I went back to this location and was told they wouldn't exchange it. When. Voiced my concern for poor customer service and said I won't be coming back and that ACE now has all my business moving forward the cashier and the clerk gave me a thumbs up as if they are happy to turn away years of business. Their actions alone were so disrespectfully. I thought I was in Los Angeles. The owners of this shop should know they have not only destroyed a long term business relationship they have also demonstrated they are will take advantage of people during these times. I like this hardware store. The employees are friendly, knowledgeable and they make it a point to spot customers and ask them if they can be of help. They know where everything is and have good advice on what to buy. I came in today to buy a new tip for my kitchen faucet and they had just what I needed. The variety in this store is also great - from camping/hunting supplies to kitchen, cleaning, garden, garage, tools, car care, plumbing, electrical, pool supplies and more. I love this little place. Here's a perfect example of why I love this place... I went to Ojai True Value Hardware when I first moved to Ojai for some random hardware that I needed at the time and I remember walking down an isle where they have some coffee makers and thinking "Hmm. I need to really remember this place because they have almost one of everything you'd need". Well about a month later I had purchased a new little kitten and I thought I might amazon one of those little laser keychain lights for the kitten to chase. I purchased a rat trap and batteries. Took it home and it didn't work. Brought it back to True Value in Ojai for a refund and they wouldn't accept it back.
