    Brunch burger and fries
    Nathan P.

Arrived in Calgary late on a Wednesday night and wanted to get something close to the hotel so ordered take out right before they closed. My wife had an Italian panini (4-stars) and I had the brunch burger (5-stars). A huge order of fries came with the burger and we shared them but still couldn't finish them all. Great meal, friendly service!

Holy Grill was featured on TV and I had this place bookmarked since 2017. I didn't get a chance to try this place until recently. Their prices are reasonable and their portion is huge. But I think you have to be either a sandwich, wrap or panini person to really love the food here. Don't get me wrong. I am not saying I don't like it. I just prefer something warm and hearty. Everything is made fresh in house. This place doesn't have much service. You order your food up front and they will bring it to your table. Everything else is self serve. The restaurant is somewhat small. They do have 2 other locations and this locations is their first. I will come back to try their burger. They have burgers special after 4 pm till closing. Free parking is out at the back.

Holy Grill this place is good! I've actually eaten here once before per my coworkers recommendation. Today I opted for delivery while working from home and it was delivered very quickly! I got the Mr Chicken Panini (again) which I believe is one of their crowd favorites. Portion size is huge and quality is great. Their side of fries are also delicious. I think I've tried their sweet potato chips before as well and they were amazing.

5 stars for a fast and high quality breakfast that was close to our hotel in downtown Calgary! We were looking for breakfast sandwiches and outdoor seating and Holy Grill checked off all boxes. A little more on the fast casual side, you can order up at the grill and then your food gets delivered to the table. On a Friday morning there was plenty of available seating outside. We caught the tail end of breakfast - at 11 am the grill menu switches over from breakfast to lunch! I ordered a bacon egg and cheese on an english muffin and it was perfect, simple and delicious. I also threw in a side of home fries which came with frizzled onions and parm cheese - interesting way to serve them but delicious nonetheless. The breakfast paninis looked tasty but way too big for breakfast, I'm glad that I stuck with a sandwich. Not much more to say because this is a quick and easy trip, but I highly suggest for breakfast or lunch if you want a fast and delicious breakfast or lunch.

Best breakfast sandwich hands down in Calgary. We tried Bacon Avocado crisp and it was so good with the homemade bun. Enough flavour and ingredients in it such as avocado, sprouts, their sauce, tomato, bacon and egg. Service was efficient. We will be back very soon.

Delicious food. Able to modify almost anything. GF friendly. Burgers are how you would want them and the avocado bacon crisp was extra awesome. Sodas in cans available. Indoor and outdoor seating. Really nice and kid friendly.

Great spot! We stopped in for some paninis and they were huge and super fresh. Great service, fast and friendly. Parm fries were on point. We need to check out the patio on a breezier day Bc it looked beautiful

This was the Wakey Wakey and it was super delicious with every bite !!

It really exceeded expectations and the food was delicious, not to mention the fresh coffee and the system where you pay before and then seat so you won't have to wait for a waitress/waiter to bring the bill , it was very smooth transaction and yummy food.

    Looks epic...but it's a world of disappointment

I saw this place on "you gotta eat here" and they were raving about the smashbrowns and the breakfast so naturally I thought there must be something special about this place! Sadly I was disappointed - I got there at noon and they stop serving breakfast at 11...disappointment #1 Add that to the fact that the ordering process is somewhat strange (you have to order the food yourself and then go pick it up yourself, get your own cutlery and water, which if the food was phenomenal, I wouldn't mind so much...let the foreshadowing begin) So I thought ok, since this is a grill let me try the burger - loaded burger, with fried egg and bacon replaced with avocado and fries replaced with smashbrowns - it was nice of them to accommodate me but...the burger, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't delicious either - a normal average burger (disappointment #2). The smashbrowns were a huge let down! I'm not sure what the guy on you gotta eat here was talking about since these tasted like regular fried potatoes (disappointment #3)...in short, I didn't have to eat here I might try it again for breakfast but I might opt for an all day breakfast diner instead...I haven't decided yet

If that burger is made in house and fresh, I have a bridge I'd like to sell you! Definitely a frozen, store bought patty.

The food experience that is Calgary continues. My brother loves this place so we decided to go here…read moresince it was close by. He says that this might be the best sandwich place in the city. We came to the store to order. and you know the service is top notch. The owner is very friendly and there is a warm ambiance about the place. On to the food, My brother order a chicken parm subs and say his sub was excellent as always. I ended up getting two subs. One was the meatball sub which was exceptional. The meatballs were well seasoned and were larger than my mom made when she was alive. the buns were toasted to perfection crunchy but not burnt. They had just enough sauce and cheese to compliment the sub but not overpower it . i also got a turkey pesto sub which had a lot of meat and cheese. This was very good and if i come back to Calgary i will definitely come back.

I'm…read morenot usually a big sandwich person, but a good foodie friend of mine said they heard the hype about Scozzafava's so I went along. No regrets. If you didn't know about this spot, you might easily pass by without a second glance. Scozzafava's serves up authentic, classic Italian sandwiches that just slap. They use a soft sesame seed bun, which probably is the most unique part of the sandwich. For their marinara sandwiches, I wish they used a thicker bun to better absorb all the sauce. The sesame bun didn't keep its integrity, sadly. The meatball marinara was glorious! Slightly spicy, super moist meatballs, slightly sweet marinara, and perfectly paired with bitterness of the rapini. Don't forget the cheese pull! We also grabbed the classic Italian deli, which was scrumptious and very filling. You can't go wrong with either option, in my opinion.

In addition to…read moresome sandwich and salad staples, they have rotating weekly features of different hot dishes and soups. On this visit, I tried the mac and cheese and beef/barley soup. The soup was warm and inviting with real beef. But, the real highlight was the mac and cheese: extra creamy made with real cheddar cheese and topped with buttery homemade croutons. For the portions provided, $10 is more than fair for well-prepared comfort food!

They offer two fresh soups every day which are clearly not canned and made from scratch. They also offer a different special every day of the week that can be supplemented with a salad or a small soup. These specials range from clubhouse sandwiches, to spring roll on vermicelli, to mac n' cheese (scratch made). One of my go-to places for lunches and as a soup connoisseur they are able to beat out most places by providing homemade soups instead of the typical generic Campbell's stuff you find in most delis. One thing I would like is for them to switch up and try their hand at making other soups because I have been here so many times the soups are getting slightly old (but still tastier and better value than Sunterra) TLDR: Soups good, specials can be good, sandwiches fresh, salad available.
