We mafe a second visit for an early lunch today. We ordered 2x fish & chips orders and an Eggs Benny with bacon. Everything arrived piping hot, the shoestring fries were well seasoned and fluffy, the fish was 2 long thick pieces of battered halibut accompanied by house made? tartar sauce. We thoroughly enjoyed the dense meaty texture of the halibut pieces and the batter was not too thick either. The eggs Benny was a bit of a let down because the bacon strips were fried so crispy that it didn't cut evenly with the poached eggs. The hollandaise sauce was very tasty as was the potato rosti and the refreshing pieces of melon and orange slices. These dishes were very good value and quality for the money at $19.99 each for the halibut fish & chip dishes and $16.49 for the Benny. The only let down was the too crispy bacon strips. Next time the bacon will be ordered soft. Verdict: 4.5/5 The service was punctual and prompt. Before we ordered I had presented our waitress with a 10% discount coupon given to us from our first visit by one of the owners. The waitress was supposed to take that discount off our bill. I went to the front counter to pay because we hadn't received our bill and we had to leave to catch a show. I was presented with a terminal to pay the total bill by credit card so I assumed that she had given us the 10% discount. I asked for a copy of the bill after I paid and this is when I discovered that the discount wasn't taken off our bill! We were a hurry to leave so there was no time for me to get the bill fixed. I think the problem that irked me the most was the fact that a bill was not presented BEFORE the amount was entered into the terminal because I trusted our server in good faith. I won't do that again! Verdict: 3/5 The ambiance was bright, pleasant, and mostly quiet with several tables occupied and conversations muted. It wasn't very busy with about half the tables in the place occupied. The tables and booth were arranged in tight proximity. Verdict: 4/5. There was a single universal bathroom near an exit and an ATM machine. Cash and cards accepted. read more

This hidden gem is a great spot for brunch. The portions are generous and fairly priced, and the atmosphere is cute, casual, and diner-style. You need to ring the buzzer for the gate to be opened. It's a laid back atmosphere and feels like you're dining in an office. I ordered the daily special which was crab cake bennys. I asked for soft poached eggs and the eggs were nice and runny, but came with a few egg shells. We also ordered the potato mash with eggs and lamb sausage. I liked the lamb sausage, it was different from the sausages that most diners serve, but the dish came with way too many potatoes and onions. Coffee was good, but we had to wave down the server to ask for more coffee (she already asked us if we wanted more coffee but forgot). There were only two servers: an older woman (probably the owner) and a young girl who seemed new. The older woman was friendly with us, but when the restaurant got busy she kept barking orders at the new server and it was uncomfortable to watch. read more

This is our go to place for good eating ! They have A great menu, all the food we've ordered have not disappoint us. From their soups to their sandwiches. Their fish tacos are really good and they have the best butter chicken I've had in downtown. My go to wud be their fish and chips - way better than anything you can get in downtown. Their Bombay fish curry is my personal fav. Sauce for the curry is so good and the poached halibut is cook to perfection- succulent and moist. They use thin coating of batter for their fish and chips and y only use halibut fish ! Very crispy on the outside and super moist inside ! I visited Vancouver for a little under a week and had to make time to come here twice. This was my absolute favorite restaurant of the trip. The workers were very kind and attentive, and both the cafe and outdoor dining area are cute. The eggs Benedict with salmon was incredibly good, and the rest of the food was also. The coffee was a highlight, whatever blend they use is both very pleasant smelling and tasting. I plan to come back next year, this was a much needed relaxing breakfast spot. read more

Great find this little diner! Had the halibut and chips which were delicious. Fish tasted fresh, got 3 pcs and fries were fresh cut and piled very high. My friend had the spaghetti and meatballs which he enjoyed but mostly loved the 4 pcs of garlic bread. Our server was very friendly and helpful. Restaurant was clean with ample parking in front. We usually have either their Bombay fish curry or fish and chips as they're always amazing. But today I switched it out and ordered steak and eggs. I didn't expect a diner to have great steaks so I managed my own expectation on this as in fairness this is not a steak house. BUT my steak turned out sooo good and totally exceeded my expectation. It was a good cut of meat - and it was very tender. Cooked to perfection and for what you'd pay for a steak - good value for money ! Needed lunch while en route to Home Depot, and found the reviews for this diner. Wouldn't have found it any other way as it is in a complex behind a sealed gate! But thankfully the code to open the motorized gate is posted. It's worth the effort to dine at this aptly named diner. Had fish n chips and short ribs benny. I'm impressed with the level of food coming out of this place. Very close to Argo Cafe. Upscale diner food is the best description. What caught my attention was the waffle. They did a tremendous job on it. This would give Nero Waffles a run for the money in terms of flavour. This is another "you need to try this" type place. Located in a fashion warehouse industrial park, but they wouldn't let me, the fashionista, shop. It's a wholesale complex. Screw the Subway, or whatever they have inside the Home Depot. We are always on the lookout for new places for breakfast and brunch, and you have to look pretty hard to find this place, but after our experience this morning, it was well worth the effort to go off the beaten track in locating this little gem. Located in the hard-to-get-to space between Terminal Ave and Great Northern Way, it's just beyond the Home Depot (on this Sunday morning, it was also behind a locked gate, you needed to get buzzed in with an entry code). We both had "The Christopher", a full English breakfast complete with a thick slab of ham, a delicious banger, bacon, eggs (poached perfectly), grilled tomato, sautéed mushrooms, hash browns, toast, and some fruit to finish. We will definitely not be eating again until dinner time. The Lavazza coffee was freshly made and augmented with steamed milk. We had a pleasant chat with the owner, who was operating as a one man show this morning. His positive attitude was refreshing, particularly as COVID has greatly impacted his newly started business. We will definitely return, maybe for lunch, as today's specials sounded great too! Small independent businesses like this deserve our support, particularly now. read more

I ordered today off UberEats and was pleasantly surprised ! It was 10 minutes before close (which I felt bad about) and usually places will give you cold, stale, end of the night food instead of making new ones. Which I get! And I was totally expecting it. But this place didn't . Everything was a good value. The spring rolls come with a very tasty sauce and side salad. The clubhouse came with a beautifully seasoned slice of chicken and yummy, fresh bread, and a HUGE side salad . The salad was super fresh and the salad dressing was delicious and unique. The fish and chips came with amazing tartar sauce and they actually gave enough which is a nice change. There was also a generous serving of fries. Everything was SO GOOOD! Like wow. It is hidden in an office complex, with the gate closed on weekends and outside of typical business hours. It's a small one or two person operation. My buddy and I went here for breakfast today. It's not easy to find but worth the effort. We both had the Christopher breakfast which is a LOT of food. You won't need lunch. All components of the breakfast, the bread, the sausage, ham , bacon and shredded hash browns are high quality. Even the beans are homemade and delicious! Now I could deduct a star for the slow service, but I decided to cut the owner some slack. He was the only worker there and was working extremely hard cooking for dine-in customers and a brisk take-out business, serving meals, cleaning up, pouring coffee etc. In a brief period of calm we chatted with him and concluded that we would come back again 1)for the food and 2) the work ethic and personality of the owner. He's the kind of guy you want to succeed. The Bombay curry with halibut sounds really good and would be my choice for lunch. He said it is their most popular dish. read more
