Finally made it back here. Unfortunately, not as great an experience as last time. Food was still great. My daughter and I both ordered the Avocado Toast with vegan cheese on it. Other orders on the table included a Breakfast Sammy and the Brioche French Toast. We had to wait about 10-15 minutes to get a table. Then once we ordered our food, we waited an eternity for our food to finally be served. My niece gobbled her French Toast and then went to sit in the car as our 1 hour parking had expired. Love the food and the retro decor but didn't care for the excessive waiting. I think we must have come on a weekday last time. I was very close to saying that I wouldn't bother coming back again but upon further reflection, I might give it another try, but just make sure that it's a weekday and not a weekend. This visit was shortly before noon on a Saturday so...definitely a busy time.

Stopped by after wife's hair apt. Greeted fairly quickly and seated. The diner had a nice diner feel to it with the table/restaurant layout. Servers were very friendly and attentive. Absolutely makes the visit more pleasurable right away. I ordered chicken and waffles, the chicken was a cutlet style and served with white sausage gravy. I personally think the chicken/waffle combo with syrup is good enough but if you like sausage gravy go at it. They were all tasty. Wife ordered French toast, which was very large and fluffy. Overall decent and solid place.

    French toast fabulous!

Food was amazing and service was excellent. Ambiance was great but it's very popular so text ahead for a reservation. This is our favourite brunch place.

We stopped for breakfast at Douce Diner on our way to Lynn Canyon. Parking was pleasantly easy to find on the street nearby. The breakfast was great. We had the "Breakfast Sammy" and "Green Shakshuka". Both dishes were super fresh and super tasted great. We would definitely visit again and try more from the menu. Incredibly friendly staff as well. The were so warm welcoming.

Great place, it was busy, and the customer service was fast and friendly. Good food I really enjoyed the waffle. The breakfast bowl was good but I was a little surprised I thought it would be more of a scramble/ mixed up. The interior was cute. Parking was a little tough but I don't take stars off for that. I was really happy my wife found this spot.

Happy to find this great diner! Facility, service and food were all stellar. It's a busy, small space. They made use of the enclosed outdoor area and added more seating. We enjoyed the recommended Chicken and Waffle and Eggs Benny. Both were delicious. I especially liked the biscuit that the eggs were on, tasted homemade. Can't wait to go back!

Ruben Sandwich is on sourdough not rye. Corned beef itself was under seasoned but cooked well. Overall sandwich is on the dry side. Fries were good, not great. On the positive wasn't greasy and it was generous. Bottomless coffee came in a small cup and barely 70%full, very cumbersome to ask for refills. Drip coffee itself was flavourless. I would say it is milder than most coffee in a regular office would serve. Ambiance was like Archie and Friends (comic book), the booth/seating were very tight. Parking can be difficult as there isn't pay parking, however there are parking maids circling as this is considering an industrial area and they will ticket.

Douce Diner is a hidden gem in North Vancouver. They are open everyday from 8am-3pm We Ordered: Eggs Benny w/ Bacon $20 (House buttermilk biscuit, poached eggs, hollandaise sauce, hash browns or nice green organic salad) Denver-Ish Breakfast Bowl $19.25 (Scrambled eggs, vintage cheddar, chorizo sausage, potato tater tots, sweet pickled peppers & red onion served with choice of toast) Bottomless Drip $4.25 Iced lATTE $5.75 They have limited seating so on weekends they tend to have a long lineup. We went for brunch on a weekday and there was no lineup. Food 5/5 Service 5/5 Ambiance 5/5 Parking 5/5

Thanks to Yelp! This is a new discovery for me! A very lively little diner run by a group of dedicated professional! Food here has a real homemade feel and you can see the staffs really do care about their customers! Outstanding item: Egg Benny - Panko Chicken .. moist succulent chicken breast is covered with a thin coating of panko crumbs fried lightly to golden .. topped with a perfectly poached egg with runny yolk! Everything here is perfectly balanced! Their Bottomless Drip is a full bodied blend that will make you want to keep your cup filled! Be prepared to wait for your table as this place do get busy and you will know why after your first visit! Call out to Shannon & crew for their great service!!

We haven't gone out for brunch in ages but after a rainy hike, we decided to check out Douce Diner. They're located a stone throw's away from Afra Bakery. We dropped in on a Saturday afternoon (around 1:30pm) and had to wait about 30 minutes for a table to open up. Service was friendly and our waitress was very accommodating. The inside is cute with a modern diner vibe but they also have 4-5 tables outside (that's sheltered from the elements). Menu is split into breaky, greens & bowls, sammy's & toast and desserts. The hand spun milk shakes ($7.50) was a very popular order. They brought out ketchup and their hot sauce (very mild) to the table. - Country ham eggs benny ($17.75) - hash browns were nicely seasoned. Eggs benny was well executed; runny yolk, liked how the ham was thinly sliced, hollandaise wasn't too rich and the biscuit brought everything together. - 2x Double Douce burger ($18.00) - both added a gluten free bun ($1.25 extra). N opted for the organic greens while B went with the shoestring fries. Bun was nicely toasted. It wasn't the juiciest burger but portion (double smashed patty) was decent and the pickled vegetables were a pleasant touch. DD was an enjoyable outing. 3.5 stars.

Crispy chicken sandwich on a gluten free bun
    Natasha P.

Hands down the best fried chicken sandwich. This is my go-to every time I come here because the chicken is crispy and the flavour is so good - honey mustard with pickle dressing. I opt for a gluten friendly bun as I am gluten sensitive and the bun is light and tasty too. The service is quite quick but if you go during busy hours (typically lunch) then you can expect to wait for a table as the restaurant is quite small.

Great little diner. Service was friendly and quick. We had a delicious lunch for 4. Hubby had the Denver-ish omelette bowl, daughter had French onion grilled cheese sandwich, son had avocado toast with an added egg, and I had the double Douce burger. The sandwiches come with a massive amount of shoestring fries, so if your group orders more than one sandwich you might want to choose other sides amongst you and share one the fries. Son also enjoyed the gelato float, and I liked the Sap Sucker carbonated maple water (which I, coming from the USA, had never heard of before).

I've been to Douce Diner twice now, and I can confidently say that the phenomenal experience I had the first time wasn't a fluke. First off, I love the space. The fun wallpaper, metal diner stools, and extended painted patio space are an absolute vibe. The colours are bright and add to the lively atmosphere. I also really appreciate the attentive but not overbearing service--both times, we had friendly and helpful servers who put us right at ease. The eggs Benedict is one of the best I've had in the Lower Mainland. Hollandaise sauce is creamy without being heavy, eggs are perfectly poached, and I love the replacement of the traditional English muffin with biscuits. The French toast, which is only served on weekends, is also incredible! I love the challah loaf they use for the bread, and the lemon curd adds a nice zing. The only suggestion my sister made was to make the distinction between the ketchup and hot sauce bottles a little more obvious (a lesson she learned the hard way...). Prices are on average $1-2 cheaper than the classic downtown Vancouver brunch spots. So although the price point isn't wildly different, I like the taste and atmosphere enough to make the trip to North Van. I will definitely be recommending Douce Diner to all my friends as my new go-to brunch place!

They updated their menu and now they have actually included the word cilantro in their description of the Avocado Toast. Wonder if it's because they read my previous review. Glad to see this revised menu. My mom had Chicken and Waffles, my daughter had the Babka French Toast, and I had the Mushroom Toast. For drinks we had Hot Honey Lemon Water, Tiramisu Latte and Ferrero Rocher Latte. Loved the Mushroom Toast. The flavor of the Truffle oil really stood out to me in this dish. My daughter enjoyed the Babka Toast and ate the entire thing. I think she began to question her life choices later cuz it's a very large portion and she felt extremely full for the rest of the day. She enjoyed it enough though that she asksed if I would share it with her the next time we come here. Tiramisu Latte didn't actually taste very Tiramisu-ish. It had a Tiramisu look to it, but just tasted like a nice, sweet coffee drink. I took a sip of my daughter's Ferrero Rocher Latte. I think I enjoyed that one better. It had a chocolate, hazelnut layer set on the rim of the glass. This really did give it a sort of Ferrero Rocher taste.

It's rustic in that honest, country way: wood, warmth, and a smallish-town Squamish vibe that makes you slow down whether you meant to or not. The location does half the work for the ambiance, the rest comes from the feeling that someone actually cares about feeding you well. This is home-cooked brunch with intention. Portions are generous without being sloppy, and every plate feels thought out, like it's been tested by real people who eat breakfast for a living. The pancakes are the headline act--huge, fluffy, unapologetic, and exactly what you want when you're leaning back in your chair wondering if you should order another coffee or surrender to a food coma. And if the night before got a little loose, the double Caesar is a public service: bracing, restorative, and delivered without judgment - oh my aching head. What really seals it, though, is the staff--genuinely welcoming, on their game, and clearly proud of the place. The Crabapple Café isn't trying to be trendy or precious. It's just very good at what it does. A must-try in Squamish, especially if you believe breakfast should be comforting, filling, and a little bit healing. This is not our first time, and definitely not our last. The cafe has become our way station before heading up to Whistler. CHEERS!!!

The combination of flavors, the runny egg yolks, the gooeyness of the cheese...it was just such a wonderfully comforting and belly warming meal. I saw a Cinnamon Honey Latte on the board and decided to order that for my drink. These days, I can never tell when the word "Latte" is being used to describe a coffee beverage or whether it's being used to describe a beverage that has milk in it. A Matcha latte for example, tends to just be a sweetedned Matcha beverage with milk in it. No coffee thrown in. I was kinda hoping this Cinnamon Honey Latte would be milk with cinnamon and honey thrown in. It turned out to be a coffee beverage. No complaints about it. It's on me for assuming that it was milk with cinnamon and honey thrown in. I should have probably asked our server about the beverage before simply ordering it. Will make sure to do that if/when we end up here again. Kinda had my eye on the Turkish Apple Tea though so might just order that next time and the whole "Latte" dilemma wouldn't be an issue with that. My daughter's Avocado Toast looked super yummy as well. Might try ordering that next time, although Michelangelo's Mediterranean Spread was also kinda calling out to me!
