May look good...but, it was AWFUL.
Marty M.

Garbage! Not sure what's up with this location but the Beef Bourginon tasted bland, watery and barely had any beef! 3 pieces, maybe. So much bacon? Why? The sauce was runny and flavourless. The mushrooms tasted like water. It was awful. The tomato soup was straight up sour. Fondu had 40 pieces of dry bread. You could not pay me to return.

Aperol spritz

The food here is so good, I got the Cajun fish po'boy sandwich and kale Caesar salad with an Aperol spritz, which isn't too sweet.

Another meal winner in Vancouver Canada. Burgoo claim to fame is comfort food from global traditions. They did not disappoint. But the stars were the corn ribs and the butter chicken. The humus though really hit the spot. I liked that our party could order anything from light apps to a full hardy meals. I always enjoy a lovely Jasmine tea served from a pot. . Excellent service too.

Coffee and cherry cheesecake!

Sitting in the afternoon sun, sparkling ocean, freighter gliding past. Coffee and cherry cheesecake for afternoon break. Cheesecake is layered in its round glass bowl, so pretty, coffee is medium rich, nice size cup. Gorgeous patio! Ave view across the inlet, downtown Vancouver. The very best! Located a few minutes walk from SeaBus terminal.

Steps away from the SeaBus terminal in Lonsdale, North Vancouver, this Burgoo location was the perfect spot to grab a quick and warm meal. Came on a chilly Monday at lunch time. The restaurant was full and we chose to sit at the bar. Staff were lovely (though not masked). The atmosphere was like an old wooden ski chalet. Because it was cold, my friend and I chose to share the crab bisque and chicken pot pie. Both hit the spot and were well portioned They were satisfying and we finished them up happily.

We came here on a rainy afternoon. We were warmly welcomed by our waitress, and the food was comforting. Overall, it's a nice spot for simple and cozy fare.

Burgoo's mac 'n' cheese

I have heard a lot of hype about Burgoo recently, particularly when it came to their mac 'n' cheese. This seemed like the perfect place to go for dinner after a night of skating at the nearby Shipyards Skating Plaza. While I did enjoy their mac 'n' cheese, it was not the best I've ever had. I appreciated the portion size and the amount of cheesy goodness found within; however the dish struck me as one-note. There was no other texture to counterbalance the gooey white cheese (and the choice of cheese added to the one-note feel). I had a few spoonfuls of my friend's butternut squash soup, and that tasted good. Their other comfort food dishes sound nice too, so I'm willing to go back again and try some of those.

First time at the Main street location and it did not disappoint. Very delicious food. See photos below. The ribs are a winner def going back for those. The service was great too.

10/10, I will forever dream about this restaurant. The vibe, the comfort food, the quality of the drinks and the food items, everything was impressive and delightful. I wish I could try everything on the menu. Amazing, amazing, amazing.

Several weeks ago, I made a rare appearance at the office and couldn't help but order Burgoo for lunch. I ordered the 'After School Special', in which I chose the Dos Diablos and the Crab Bisque. This is my go-to meal! The sandwich itself was so huge, I never even end up finishing half of one piece. But it works out because fiance now has a dinner! In this lunch, I only had a few bites of the sandwich and finished the soup. Burgoo is so delicious! I've have been to Burgoo on several occasions and it never disappoints. If you haven't tried it yet, you're missing out!

This place has the most amazing soup. I mean it. It was a cold day and I wanted a warm, cozy meal and this was the perfect spot. The service was also amazing. Our waitress said she was new and she was so nice, attentive and quick. My soup came with a side of delicious bread. I will say if you are wanting a large quantity of food this is not the place to go. The bowl of soup was medium sized which was okay for me but if I was really hungry, it would not have filled me up. Also the display of food was very aesthetic as you can see.

In the history of "we picked the right place to eat," I don't think it gets much better than this. A chilly November day, right on the water in North Vancouver. That autumn leaves now several weeks into their downward migration, and hardly a peek of sunshine all day long. Tired souls, just gearing up for more work ahead--the fun kind but work--and a stop to Burgoo for some pick-me-up comfort. For almost everyone at the table, it seemed to be a soup and sandwich kind of day. For me, the Cubano, but you can't go wrong with any of the sandwiches. Hemming and hawing, I ended up with the Yummy Carrot soup, which is yummy, and packed with carrot. Again the French onion, bisque, or any of the other options would surely do the same trick. Fire in my belly. Speaking of fire, they do have cocktails. It's a legit bar and I'm told they do a nice job. A far cry from the rowdy beer spot nearby, or the party on the water vibe, this is a drink and a dish crafted for you, as if a friend came over to play hooky from work one day and you made grilled cheese. Vancouver had me feeling all kinds of cozy longing feelings, and this is a good example of why. Rainy outside? Stay inside together and only get out of bed long enough to put the bread in the oven, and rock-paper-scissors to see who has to get out of bed to remove the warm, golden bread when it's done.

Given this, the restaurant was quite busy but regardless we only had to wait about 20 minutes for a table. Once seated our server was friendly, approachable, knowledgeable, and didn't seem overwhelmed by the volume of tables he had. We both ordered the beef dip, which was warm and comforting for a rainy night. I ordered mine with the Caesar salad, which was nothing special, but went well as a simple side with the sandwich. After dinner, we decided to get the key lime parfait, which looked delicious from the photos on the menu, and our server also noted it was quite popular. Although it was somewhat tasty, we both felt it was quite heavy on the salt for the crumble layer. We would have preferred if this was less. However, it was still a good dish. At one point in the night, a table was sat across from us with two children around 10-13 years old. One of the children had a watch that he was playing a podcast or some kind of show loudly on that was very distracting and annoying. We weren't sure that it was that table though, so we asked our server about it. He very tactfully responded that it was in fact that table, but that if it continued to bother us he would happily move us somewhere quieter. We declined and said we would see how long it continued for, but appreciated his response and the option. All in all, I would come back here to try some of their other drinks or dishes.

We ordered the following: Chicken n Waffles Salmon Gravlax Bagel Mushroom Toast Iced Guava Matcha Latte We ordered Chicken n Waffles before on one of our previous visits. I don't remember it being such a huge dish. My memory is possibly a bit shaky, or else it's gotten bigger from before. Either way, the Chicken n Waffles was an impressive serving size. There were leftovers and it's going to be someone's lunch again for at least one more meal if not two! The poached eggs on both the Salmon Gravlax Bagel and the Mushroom Toast were perfectly done. Loved how soft and runny the yolk was. Flavors and texture in both dishes were on point. I could definitely taste the truffle oil in the Mushroom Toast and loved the crispiness of the Enoki Mushroom Tempura. I'm usually not a fan of Enoki Mushrooms but I quite enjoyed them being served as tempura. Also loved the Iced Guava Matcha Latte. I could taste both the Guava and the Matcha flavors. Neither flavor was so overwhelming that it took away from the other flavor. An absolutely delightful meal and I will continue to look forward to coming here again and again! Their desserts are also gorgeous looking. I've never gotten around to buying one yet but I promise myself I will buy one to bring home one day. Usually too stuffed from lunch at this place to sit there and eat a dessert after the lunch, so bringing dessert home seems to make more sense.

Forgot to tell the server "no cilantro" so ummm...food wasn't quite as good as usual but I'm not deducting points for that cuz that was our own mistake for forgetting to say "no cilantro." (Big sigh) It's such a pain though to have to keep on remembering to say that everywhere we go. Why don't restaurants realize that not everyone likes cilantro and make it a policy to bring it up with customers? Why don't they remind the customers that there's cilantro in a dish and then ask if the customer is OK with it? Anyone reading this right now is probably thinking I should just get over it and deal with it. I'm really just venting I suppose. The cilantro problem is just hugely annoying for both my daughter and I.

I just had an Original Gimbap and a Vege Gimbap for myself. It was a hot summer's day so I just didn't feel like ordering hot food. Everyone else ordered hot food though. My daughter has been getting into Tonkatsu at Japanese restaurants for awhile now. So when she saw Chicken Katsu on the menu here, she decided to give that a try. It was just OK for her. No comparison to any of the pork Tonkatsu dishes that she's been having at Japanese restaurants. She still ate it all up though and it was a huge portion. Other dishes on the table included Seafood Noodles, Pork Kimchi Stew, Soft Tofu Stew, Fried Chicken, and Kimchi Fried Rice. My one gripe would be that they took a super long time bringing out my daughter's Chicken Katsu. Everyone else had their food for quite awhile but she sat waiting and waiting for her Chicken Katsu. When we asked about it, they said it was coming soon. But that's what they always say when you ask about something that's taking a long time to come, right? Wondering if they actually completely forgot about it and then put in a rush order at the kitchen when we brought it up.

It's bright and airy, even on a rainy nasty day on the West Coast. The decor is awesome in our mind, very diner driven and classy. The glass into the kitchen itself offers a glimpse into the line cook life. The service was top notch, the space is clean and tables are turned with precision. Nothing to quibble with overall, but the food itself was just average, and just that alone is not where a small place like this should be. The hash browns were bordering on overdone and were not plentiful. One piece of toast is always a pet peeve of mine, though the multigrain was good. The Romesco really had little taste and was almost a little dry. I had trouble speeding it around and ended up eating most of it in one bite, which I am sure is not the ideal scenario. K had the grilled cheese sandwich with onions. The fries were great but the sandwich was lacking in cheese and onions which isn't ideal. We also had three go arounds with our English Breakfast tea and the cream curdling once added. The date on the cream was far in advance and the cream was cold, so not sure what the issue was. I actually asked specifically for milk when ordering, so it didn't excite me to have this happen. They finally brought milk with the third tea try, K used it, I didn't bother. Small thing, but I like my tea while waiting for my meal, not with it or halfway through it. That all said, everyone was happy, seemed to enjoy the food and service and there appear to be alot of locals. We will certainly give the Douce another go, and hope that it's a far better experience.
