We arrived early yet the place was already full, vibrant energy throughout the cafe. The decor had lots of funky and antique items, which added to the relaxing theme. After waiting for about twenty minutes, it was our turn to sit down and eat good food! Our waitress was a friendly lady who welcomed us and brought water. After browsing the items on the menu, my friend chose The Tater Bowl and I picked Mushroom N' Ricotta Benedict. Finally, when our orders arrived, we were ready to eat! The portion was so generous and everything was cooked just right. We were so full at the end, so we didn't get a chance to try other items. Friendly service, delicious food and warm vibe- you can't go wrong here! A must-try if you are visiting Vancouver!

Establishment was bright by the windows a little darker inside but very cool vibe with the decorations. Lots of bar seating. Our server was very nice and able to answer any questions we had about the menu. Wifey ordered the mighty Monte cristo benny. I ordered the Charlie bowl. The bowl was very hearty hott mess in a good way. Very filling, tasty with all the good bits of bacon, ham, sausage gravy all throughout. I had to take half home as it was a bit much for me. Wifeys Benny was decent, the hollandaise was more mayoee than regular hollandaise and there was a sweet drizzle on the eggs I personally was not a fan but I can see it's appeal to others. Serving size are very decent. Overall this location is good and we will visit again. Lovely servers, good food and atmosphere!

What a blessing as…read morewe've gone to other places on the North Shore on a Saturday, with no reservation and have had to endure fairly long waits for a table. They updated their menu and now they have actually included the word cilantro in their description of the Avocado Toast. Wonder if it's because they read my previous review. Glad to see this revised menu. My mom had Chicken and Waffles, my daughter had the Babka French Toast, and I had the Mushroom Toast. For drinks we had Hot Honey Lemon Water, Tiramisu Latte and Ferrero Rocher Latte. Loved the Mushroom Toast. The flavor of the Truffle oil really stood out to me in this dish. My daughter enjoyed the Babka Toast and ate the entire thing. I think she began to question her life choices later cuz it's a very large portion and she felt extremely full for the rest of the day. She enjoyed it enough though that she asksed if I would share it with her the next time we come here. Tiramisu Latte didn't actually taste very Tiramisu-ish. It had a Tiramisu look to it, but just tasted like a nice, sweet coffee drink. I took a sip of my daughter's Ferrero Rocher Latte. I think I enjoyed that one better. It had a chocolate, hazelnut layer set on the rim of the glass. This really did give it a sort of Ferrero Rocher taste.

It comes with this amazing fried I'm not sure what but it's great looking. Poached eggs too. - side of potatoes comes in a pan with aioli on top of each one. The aioli is fantastic. The potatoes crunchy and flavourful but not too fried at all. - ok the highlight for me is the KFC fusion Dutch baby. I've never heard of a dish like this before. The classic Dutch baby pancake with Korean ingredients - gochujang flavoured KFC, kimchi, veggies, an egg in the middle bibimbap style. The chicken is good although the sauce a bit uneven - some extra spicy hot spots. The ingredients come together really well and the Dutch baby is fantastic. I'll be coming back for sure!!!

It…read moreseems they've since replaced the original version (with pistachio crème and ice cream) with a seasonal pistachio strawberry French toast ($21). I also got an Americano ($4.50), which tasted alright. Having a tangier fruit like strawberry provided a nice contrast to the sweetness of the French toast. However, I found the pistachio sauce to be quite weak and milky, so I'd suggest making it more pistachio-forward. This is especially noticeable since they use milk bread rather than a richer option like brioche, which left the overall dish lacking the flavour punch I was hoping for. That said, I found their food and drink options more unique compared to a standard brunch menu, so I'd be interested in returning with a bigger group to try more items. Their Thai chocolate and pistachio latte sound especially interesting!

Its a very small spot, worth the wait if there is one (holds about 25ppl max). The vibe is japanese/asian/french type of food in our opinion. We drove 30 minutes to get here and was worth it. Not familiar with the area we parked in a garage near the building which was $5/hour (made for the restaurant above). So find street paid parking.

Secondly, Ash was our server and she has a remarkable presence, very personable and her kindness shows through. I'd return just to see her. The food was also a hit, I had the Gold (rush?) Poutine with Berkshire Pork and truffle. This bowl was hefty and I'm kinda ashamed I ate every bite but it was so delicious. There was care and attention as they made this bowl because I was able to have topping on every bite. There were cheese curds on the bottom which had pull even at the end of the meal! The Brown butter hollandaise paired well with the truffle. And the pork was crispy and plentiful. The fries are so good and perfect vehicle for all the quality toppings. My spouse had the Gold standard waffle with bacon lardon and raved about the taste and texture of the waffle. Yep, we will be back!

Wifey ordered French toast. I also ordered perogies. Fairly standard breakfast fare. Nothing fancy. The waffles imo could be better.. they were kinda dry inside bit fluffy. Def crispy on outside but with the missing fluffiness inside it kinda detracted from the enjoyment of having waffles. Rest of the breakfast food was as said standard and decent. The one thing that did stand out was the home made perogies.. they were very delicious. Over all, decent place to get your breaky but i don't think I'd go out of my way again to visit.

Tommy's Café 1308…read moreRoss Road, North Vancouver, BC A friend recommended Tommy's Café, and I finally had the opportunity to stop by while I was in the area. The café has a welcoming, neighborhood feel and offers a selection of hearty breakfast dishes with both classic and fusion-style options. Tommy Hash Bowl Corned beef, roasted red peppers, and onions, topped with poached eggs and hollandaise. The dish is hearty and well-portioned. The corned beef adds a savory depth, while the roasted peppers bring a light sweetness. However, the overall flavor could benefit from a touch more seasoning to fully elevate the components--thankfully, having salt and pepper readily available on the table allows diners to adjust to their preference. The hollandaise, while smooth, leans slightly mild and could offer more richness to tie everything together. 7/10 Seoul Bowl Kimchee, scrambled eggs, spinach, mushrooms, scallions, sesame seeds, and gochujang sauce. This bowl stands out for its balance of flavor and texture. The kimchee provides a welcome acidity and gentle heat, complementing the umami of the sautéed vegetables. The gochujang brings a subtle depth rather than overpowering spice, allowing the ingredients to harmonize. A thoughtful and enjoyable fusion dish that feels both comforting and vibrant. 8/10 Espresso Milkshake A playful combination of espresso and ice cream, offering both sweetness and a pleasant espresso bitterness. Refreshing, creamy, and surprisingly well-balanced. 8/10 Ambiance The café is small and inviting, with a warm and friendly neighborhood feel. Clean tables, casual décor, and a steady morning buzz contribute to an approachable and comfortable dining experience. 7/10 Service Despite a busy breakfast rush, the staff remained attentive, welcoming, and efficient. There is a genuine friendliness in the service that enhances the overall visit. 8/10 Price Reasonably priced, especially considering the North Vancouver location and generous portions. Final Verdict Tommy's Café offers a comforting, approachable brunch experience with a few standout items and a relaxed local charm. While not every dish reaches exceptional heights, the balance of flavor, friendly service, and inviting atmosphere make it a place worth returning to. I would happily stop by again to explore more of the menu on my next visit to the area.
