One of the best breakfasts I've had in Cambria hands down. Gluten free options and organic choices- such a great find in this small town. The servers are all so friendly and accommodating as well. Seating can be hard bc it's first come first served basis, but it's worth the wait. The Bleu corn waffles definitely are filling and are a great base for all the toppings. Two plates ordered: The San Luis Sunrise waffle- sooo good. If you love bacon, this is a must order dish! Once you try the kitchen sauce... you'll wish you had a gallon of it to slather on your bacon and waffle. Gahhhh, I'm drooling posting these pics right now! HK is the bomb! As a GF gal, I'm *all* about their entire menu. My partner had the Morro Melt, which included a super bomb green salsa. My San Luis Sunrise was such a flavor bomb! Pro tip: get the extra side of HK sauce. It's so yummy and really enhances the meal. The vibe is pleasant with lots of outdoor seating and reggae music playing. FYI: half the staff was masked and the others weren't. It's an outdoor setting, but they are preparing and serving food, so that's your call. Love this location too! The waffles are identical to the other location and my daughter loved the smoothie she got with whip on top. The two downsides to this location compared to cayucos, location is no games here and no breeze here either. The planets finally aligned, and we were able to pop in here for breakfast a couple of days ago. It's a real treat! Yes, it's kind of hidden... You have to walk around the back of a shop to get there, and all seating is outdoors. You order at a little counter, and they will bring your breakfast to you. they are known for their blue corn waffles, and for good reason! Amazing! My wife got the basic one, just the waffle with butter and syrup. But I had to, you know, be more adventurous. I think mine was called the San Luis Sunrise or something like that. It's that same blue corn, waffle, with a mildly spicy sauce on it, topped with two perfectly cooked fried eggs, then an amazingly generous amount of chopped thick cut bacon, and sliced avocado. It was one of the best breakfast entrées I've ever had. I couldn't even finish it! They really put a lot of heart and soul and attention into the food. Everything else is pretty no-frills... Grab your silverware and napkins at the counter where you order, bus your own table when you're done. And absolutely worth it! Double check the days and hours to make sure they are open, and if there's any chance to include this spot on your next visit, you really should. The ladies working there were really nice and didn't rush us either. I got the avila avo with an egg and HK sauce, while my hubby ordered the morro melt and an iced tea. My dish came with a blue corn waffle, organice avocado, and Taijin seasoning. It tasted interesting and was very filling. I thought it was a unique way to use blue corn! My hubby enjoyed his waffle as well and I also stole some of his meat LOL. The organic tea we got was refreshing too! I really liked the simple decor here with all the plants and vines along the wall. Everything here is self-serve, so you'll need to grab your utensils and bus your own dishes when you are finished. The blue cornmeal waffles topped with a magic sauce, bacon, perfectly fried eggs and avocado was magic combo I'd been dreaming of. Gorda Greens (spinach, kale, chard, banana, ginger, spirulina, apple, coconut water, coconut shreds) - Thick and strong enough in vegetable taste that I couldn't down this like my typical Jamba Juice smoothie. It's a great drink to pace myself over an hour and enjoy carrying around. Morro Melt (organic turkey, melted havarti cheese, caramelized onion, avocado, hk sauce, microgreens) - The black sesame waffle is incredible, and would have loved to eat 8 more of this! I forgot which waffle was which, because we ordered one of each savory waffles. And they were all sooooo good! Being gluten-free, this was truly a treat on vacation! Didn't have to cheat on our diet. I love how the bacon on the waffle is so crispy. The one with bacon, peanut butter, and maple syrup is to die for! That should be dessert. I personally also love the one with microgreens. My husband stated that he ordered that one, but I ended up eating 75% of it. The portion is pretty big so prepare yourself. Seating is free seating, and it's in a nice little courtyard. The all female staff was very laid back, super nice and attentive. GREAT customer service. Each waffle is made to order, so be patient. It will all be worth the wait. The waffles are pretty filling. You can even share one BUT you probably wouldn't want to. My weirdo waffle was all I could ask for! Sweet, savory and salty at the same time. I ordered the San Luis waffle. While I enjoyed the egg, avocado and bacon topping, I did not enjoy the waffle. It tasted like eating a hard, thick corn bread instead of a waffle. We were looking for a dog friendly place to eat and found The Hidden Kitchen with great reviews. The sitting area was very quaint and the staff were friendly. We were very hungry and ordered the Avila Avo and two of the Morro Melts. The only three good things about the waffles were the fried egg on the Avila Avo along with the avocado and arugula on both waffles. The waffles were too thick and the corn flavor overwhelmed all the other flavors of the dishes. Maybe if the waffles were cooked on a regular waffle iron and allowed to crisp up a bit they might taste better. Overall, a very bad gastronomic experience. read more
