Waited for all the hype to die down before I gave this place a shot. This is my first ever time eating Halal guys too, never went to the NYC locations either. Like the others have said, the interior is rather small, designed more for takeout than dine in. Nevertheless, I went Friday during lunchtime, and there were still a couple vacant tables around. I don't think it should be a problem finding a spot 4 months since opening. The prices are a little over the top for what you are getting, and according to some of the other Yelpers, more expensive than NYC Halal guys prices. It's $9 for the regular platter, and $8 for the "small" platter. A dollar two more expensive than Chipotle, and a little less than Jerusalem bakery, but they offer a lot more food though. I got a regular mixed platter with the chicken and gyro meat. My biggest regret was to ask for so much red sauce. To be honest I was a little disappointed that they have the nerves to charge for their sauce packets, so I asked for a bit more of the red sauce, and I think the waitress was a little agitated too, so she covered half the plate with it. It's been a couple days since I've eaten that monstrosity but I've lived to tell the tale. DON'T underestimate how spicy the red sauce is. The white sauce was okay, probably the same mixture as the tzatziki sauce they sell at those mall gyro chains. Actually that's exactly what the platter tasted like. The gyro meat was okay, and the chicken was underseasoned and a little dry. The veggies they provided were just diced tomatoes and shredded iceberg lettuce. Never having been to New York before, I certainly had never heard of - let alone tried food from - the famous Halal Guys until just a few months ago. I had started seeing Facebook posts from friends about the opening of The Halal Guys in Atlanta and began following their Facebook page in anticipation of their grand opening. The hubs and I arrived two hours before their grand opening in January and were surprised to be among the first 50 guests who were rewarded with a free regular platter! (It "helped" that it was freezing that morning!) After waiting outside in the cold for 2+ hours for a meal, you may think anything would taste delicious - but I had high expectations. Honestly, Halal Guys exceeded my expectations! Since I've been hearing lines are currently still out the door almost two months later, the hubs and I had not returned as frequently as we would have liked to, but we finally paid another visit for lunch last Saturday. Again, I really enjoyed my meal! So what have I tried here? * Combo (Chicken and Beef Gyro) Platter - Per the menu, platters are "Served with rice and salad and our famous hot and white sauce." You also get a few tiny pieces of pita bread. While the beef gyro is much more flavorful than the chicken, I enjoy the balance of flavors by having both meats with the white sauce and just a tiny streak of hot sauce. The red (or in some cultures, "yellow") rice is perfectly cooked and tasty, and while the salad is simply iceberg lettuce and diced tomatoes, I appreciate that it's included. The Halal Guys' famous white sauce, at a whopping 330 calories per 2-ounce serving, is absolutely addicting. Sure, it's "soybean and/or canola oil" and egg yolk-based, but I just want to cover every grain of rice, shred of salad, and piece of meat with it. And the hot sauce? Whoa. It is SUPER spicy. If you've never tried it before, you may want to ask for it on the side because even a streak of it on your platter may be too much. You may want just a few drops. I've ordered both the regular and small platters (with no extra sides), and I highly recommend the regular-size platter. Based on my two visits, the regular platter was almost twice the amount of food as the small platter for just another dollar. With the regular platter, I had leftovers for a second meal. The small platter left me unsatisfied and wanting more. Now I know. One other thing I learned during my most recent visit is that if you want a packet of the white sauce for free, you need to ask for the sauce on the side and NOT directly on your platter. Otherwise, the sauce costs 50 cents per packet. Duly noted for next time. However, if you dine in (or out on the patio), employees will walk around with bottles of white and hot sauce and gladly squeeze more onto your platter free of charge. Overall, The Halal Guys gets 4 stars for their tasty Mediterranean Halal street-style food! The prices are a bit more than I would expect to pay for this type and amount of food, and I wish they didn't charge for your first packet of sauce. The parking lot could also use some work since there seems to be enough space for more parking spots. However, I do appreciate that they have a rewards program and I can earn my way to free food with every purchase! Be sure to sign up for their rewards card - you'll get a free fountain drink for signing up! After only having had an omelette all day and then going straight to work, I was starving by the time I got off. My boyfriend and I had just talked about checking out Halal Guys earlier in the week, so it was an easy choice. From the times I've been to NYC, I've never had the chance to try it. Mainly because I jam packed activities into every visit, so there's never been time to stop! Hahaha We got there around 9:30PM-ish. Thankfully, there weren't lines out the door. However, the seats were all filled up inside. But that wasn't really an issue because we wanted to sit outside, anyway. We got an order of the combo platter with white and hot sauce. Connor said to me, "The hot sauce must be really hot if they only gave this much..." Needless to say, his assumption was not wrong. It was pretty damn hot! The food was good and incredibly filling. I barely got halfway through it. *Note: if you're dining in, I would pass up on buying extra sauce. The employees come by with bottles of the sauces and see if you need anymore while you're eating! Overall, I'd say it was a bit overhyped. I didn't love my food, and I didn't hate my food. I can't say I'd wait in a long line to eat there. I used to LOVE the Halal Guys. Especially when I lived in NYC and they were just a stand on a corner. Unfortunately, with franchising comes higher prices and lower quality. The portions are just not worth the price and they are pretty stingy about giving extra sauces & whatnot. With that said, I have yet to find better halal food in the area (I've been in ATL for just under 2 years) and will continue to come whenever the craving hits. read more

Maybe it was the hype? I dunno, but the food was just okay to me. I'd never even heard about The Halal Guys until friends were going nuts over it's arrival, so I had no concept of how it tasted. I just asked for their most popular dish with a side of fries and got the regular chicken and gyro combo ($8.79) and a side of fries ($2.50). So the fries: They were fries. I was expecting the typical fried potatoes when I placed my order, and was disappointed in the regular fries I got. Kinda out of place to me. The cook of them was okay, crispy but nothing special. The Chicken and gyro combo came with rice, chopped chicken and gyro beef, lettuce, chopped tomato and a white sauce (tzatziki?). The gyro beef was probably my favorite item of the day, in terms of texture, amount and some flavor. The chicken wasn't bad, but it did lack flavor, and the rice that came along with it wasn't really flavored either. The big issue was the sauce, which also lacked flavor. Are you noticing the absence of flavor? Resting at the corner of buford highway and Chamblee tucker road, I could see how getting out of the parking lot could be difficult, depending on where you're going, but going in and out wasn't a problem. Parking spots aren't limitless, but I had no problem finding one. The interior is super clean, and there's a good amount of seating too. Customer service is just fine. I do like that mediterrenian is finding its way onto buford highway, but like others have said, i've had much better locally. Doesn't mean the Halal brothers is bad. Who says you can't have it good and fast? This spot has both. Not a big menu but that's perfect. It keeps things simple and keeps the line moving. My favorite is the Chicken platter. For the regular size you can get meat, veggies, rice and a side of pita bread....under 10 bucks. The employees are awesome and the place is kept clean. Rarely do I write a review while still at the establishment I'm reviewing. I came yesterday on opening day and after a 15 minute wait (with another hour to go) the line was just too long for me to bear on a cold winter day. ..... THE EXPERIENCE The plan was to come back sometime during the week, but after church today (Sunday) I was tells my kids about it. It only took them a split second to remember the amazing gyro we had 2 years ago while walking around Manhattan. So their reaction to the news of Halal Guys opening here was like Christmas morning with a tree full of the best presents ever. I won't waste a lot of time and get straight to the point. The BEEF gyro (lamb not available) I had today was disappointing. So much so that I now wonder if my 5 star review of Halal Guys in New York was possibly written for the wrong company. How could the most amazing gyro sandwich of my life be so completely different from what I had today and be the same company? I don't remember if my gyros in NYC was beef or lamb, I can't remember if they offered feta cheese (which they do not in the new Georgia location), nor can I remember if it was a true Tzatziki sauce or the ordinary white sauce dressing my sandwich today. All I know is, this is NOT anywhere as good as the one I had from that delicious cart in Manhattan. IF this is the same company, then I seriously question if I got my carts confused when I wrote my review. ..... THE VERDICT Loved the huge meat portion when ordering extra protein for $2. It was like a meat mountain! The pricing was excellent also, but I gotta say, the flavor was average at best and far below the expectations set by that amazing cart in New York. I will probably return in a few months to see if maybe today was just an off day. However, if the results are the same, then my excitement for the opening of this Georgia store was all for not. Good, but not great and definitely no where near the vicinity of being amazing. ---------------------------------------- SIDE NOTE: When I got home I took the meat off the remaining half of my gyro and put it in a hot frying pan with a tablespoon or two of water. I seasoned it with salt, pepper and adobe and cooked it for about 3 minutes. I added feta cheese once the meat was ready, mixed it in and put it back on my remaining pita. EHHHH. Overpriced. Platter should be like 7ish dollars. Not $9. Parking sucks. But you can park at the Family Tree and walk on over. I personally don't mind walking extra... but I really hate walking from another shop's parking lot to another. Makes me feel paranoid. Seating - Come at an off time. They have indoor and outdoor seating but holy cow, during the lunch/dinner rush, GL! Service - They do move fast to get your food done. Solid 5/5. They even have someone walking around with white sauce and hot sauce. Nice of them. Food: Platter - I will not lie: pretty great portions. But in reality, it's lettuce, rice, chicken, sliced tomatoes, and some bread. That is not worth 9 dollars. The lettuce is not fresh at all. Bread is store brought. Tomatoes are fine. I've been to the Halal Guys in NYC several times (especially after a long niight of partying lol) and loved the food so I had high hopes for this location. Parking was a hot mess and we had to wait about 5 minutes to get parking. Then the line was almost outside the door but the place is small. I waited in line for about 10 minutes before ordering. I go the rice and chicken with extra hot sauce! The food was okay, not as good as I was hoping it would be. They give you like 2 pieces of pita bread, so I had to get more because I love me some pita bread. The workers are super nice and uber friendly. They were attentive and showed amazing customer service. Lexi was the girl who was maintaining the eating area and she was the bomb! She was super sweet and answered any questions I had. When we first pulled up to the new Halal Guys spot...I thought Ronald McDonald had just pooped out a kabob shop.  Its so bright....so red...so yellow... Anyways...let's get down to brass tacks.  I got the mixed sandwich which was chicken, gyro beef, iceberg lettuce, diced tomato and "white sauce" wrapped in a pita bread.  I got the hot sauce on the side.  And fries:).  Now let me break it down like this.... White Sauce!----It was yum yum sauce people!  It tasted like yum yum sauce!  It didn't have the same color as yum yum sauce.  But at the end of the day the white sauce is yum yum sauce....and you can put that shit on a shoe and the shoe would taste pretty freaking good... Hot sauce!----- It was hot.  Not really much flavor though.  I really thought it was just water...chili powder...cayenne pepper...a splash of vinegar...and some preservatives to make sure that stuff doesn't go bad.  You would think I've done this before... Pita bread!----dry as a cardboard box.  Crumbled way to easily.  I understand it is very hard to make fresh pita when you serve a thousand people a day.  But c'mon.  A little heat or steam on these things wouldn't hurt.  The meat!---- not bad.  A little dry too.  Not a good idea when you wrap it in a cardboard box. Lettuce and tomato!---- the best thing I had.  At least it looked fresh. Fries!----crinkle cut and cooked in fresh oil.  Use ketchup or white sauce and they ain't to bad. I was very excited for the grand opening and had to check it out when I heard it opened early. Sadly, it doesn't live up to the magic of that cold night my friend introduced me to the halal guys cart in NYC(Thanks Chinky). I understand they were busy and had to batch cook however the gyro and the pita bread was cold and the chicken just barely hit the spot for me. Maybe I just needed more of the special white sauce to mask the cold meat or come here late night after having my share of liquid courage. I definitely hope the quality goes up once the hype and lines die down. Also be prepared to fight for parking or park next door because of limited parking and lots of people. Once inside the place has limited seating inside however there's some more seating on the patio. There will be long lines for awhile until the hype dies down. I will be back and hopefully it will be better next time. **Edit** Came here again next day for lunch(thanks to coworkers) and crowd wasn't as bad and the food was prepared hot. I will try to keep this short since most people know about halal guys. First, you are certainly paying more for the name than the food. While the Halal Guys provided a unique alternative to street food in NYC, frankly speaking there are way better similar options in Atlanta (Bismillah Cafe- yes yes yes, Cafe Agora, Urban Taali, and countless other Mediterranean/Greek places). However, if eating warm and spicy HG in chilly NYC isn't an option, this is what you will have to work with. The food can come off slightly greasy, overpriced, and the meat not cooked right. The white sauce EXCELS, and the spicy sauce is so hot it could burn your tongue off (seriously- I can handle spicy but this one felt like a volcano erupting in my mount). My first time here, I got one small drizzle of the red spicy sauce and it ruined the flavor altogether. The second time I got none, and ended up just putting three dots on my whole plate and mixing vigorously. The result was significantly better! While I do enjoy the kind of food Halal Guys serves, HG quality is subpar. I'd say it's like eating a fast food burger rather than a tavern burger- both delicious, but certainly a gap in quality. What really stood out to me my last visit was the service I received. The two workers who made our food were hilarious, full of life, quirky individuals who clearly loved their job or did heck of a job pretending. Wonderful staff! Went all the way to Chamblee to try Food Terminal but the wait time was 1 hr (although it's almost 9 PM) and I have 2 hungry boys so cannot wait that long. Decided to "hop" to this place which I know also newly opened and heard lots of good thugs about it. We ordered 2 combo plate and per the cashier recommendation decided to put hot sauce on the side. Boy, they are not kidding with their hot sauce. It is possibly the hottest sauce I've tried from a restaurant. I like the chicken more than beef. All in all, it's good dinner. My husband and I came here on their grand opening day, and after waiting a little over an hour, it was well worth it. Came 3 mins after opening time and there was already no parking spots available. A staff member that happened to be standing outside informed us to park in the next plaza over where the Family Dollar is. Inside there was a line but it wasn't too bad. I waited with a friend for about 20 mins or so. The line moved relatively fast. I got the platter combo with both chicken and gyro meat. I actually preferred the gyro meat over the chicken cause I thought the chicken was just okay and thought the gyro was more flavorful. However, my friend liked the chicken over the gyro lol. I guess it's just personal preference. I also really enjoyed the pita bread that came with it, wish we got a little more though...we only got like 3 triangle pieces. The platter was really good, we both enjoyed it. Definitely worth the wait! There's also limited seating, and since it's still relatively new, the line wraps throughout the tables. The service here is excellent and they're all very friendly so it's definitely not a service issue. Overall I did not like the falafels but the rest of the meat was pretty good. Unfortunately my review is a little biased because when I went to this restaurant after I has just come from New York a week prior and had the real thing there. Again, it's not bad and it's actually pretty good if you get a lot of sauces in the meat is delicious and the pita bread is good but I would say it's an overall average experience food wise. My husband I lived in NY for long time and the street halal food was our favorite comfort food. After we moved to Atlanta 2 months ago we got really excited to find out that there's The Halal Guys in Atlanta. The food is on point and staffs are super nice. I was little worried when I saw the reviews on Yelp before we actually visited this place but it was actually really good. Been excited for this place to open! I've always heard people talk about how good it was and I was so excited when I saw they were opening one down here in GA! The hubby and I stopped by a few days after their grand opening hoping to avoid the long lines but when we got here early in the afternoon on a Monday, the line was already almost out the door. We ordered thier combo platter with chicken and gyro meat, rice and pita bread and a falafel! We were in a hurry and they had a delay on the fryer so we told the cashier that we would skip the falafel this time. The manager over heard us canceling our falafel order and told us that it would be ready in a couple minutes, so we waited. When it was done, he ended up giving it to us on the house! On to the food, I've read reviews saying that it's not as good as NYC but for someone who's trying their food for the first time, I thought it was pretty good. The meats were flavorful. The rice was a bit on the drier side but it was good as well. Thier famous white sauce that everyone is talking about was good. It's not the traditional tzatziki sauce but more like a tzatziki with cream. The hot sauce had a good flavor bit it was spicy!! So I suggest you don't add it to your meal but get it on the side. Went in just before 1pm on a Monday for lunch. I was actually excited to try a local place near my office that had fried vs. baked falafel. Since I moved out of midtown, I don't make the drive to one of my favorite spots out there for lunch; so I am searching for somewhere just as good and fast. Today was not that day. Having never been to this location before, I went straight to the register since there was nobody in line and I was ready to order. It wasn't until one of the girls who I thought was actually going to help me asked if I was there for a pick up order or dine in. I told her I had a to-go order to place. So I went to the other side of the cash register to order. I asked if Hummus was included in the platter or if it was extra to which she stated it was only a dollar extra For either. After this, the girl just left without taking my complete order and I had no idea what was going on. She went to go get someone's pick up order and then three other people behind the service area Didn't even acknowledge me. Now I was standing awkwardly in between the cash register and the initial ordering station as other people were being helped and passing me by. They were throwing down Falafel to be cooked for other people's orders and not mine. Four people were checked out before I was acknowledged again. Once I finally had my order in and the falafel was made the initial girl came back to me and the guy to my right said that I looked annoyed and I told him why. When this girl started putting the sauce on my falafel I told her to stop twice and she just completely flooded the platter with that white sauce. To me, it was an inedible amount! I asked the guy to my right if he heard me say "stop" twice and he nodded yes and apologized. The girl didn't even tell me that she was going to remake the falafel and again I was just standing there without any direction. The girl then told me when there was a minute and a half left for the new order of falafel for my order and then another girl ended up finishing up my order. After I checked out I noticed I paid $12 when I felt like I should have AT LEAST been given a free drink or discount on the hummus. I even checked in on yelp to get 10% off and the girl didn't discount on my receipt. I left highly annoyed, especially since people are trying to get in and out during their lunch break and I spent almost 20 minutes there. My platter was so dry, the rice, the falafel, the pita. The only thing that made things stick together in my mouth was the sauce, but there wasn't enough sauce. What I had is the sauce was pretty good though! However, I didn't finish my platter because it was so crumbly and dry! PRICE: 3.5 I didn't think the food was over priced, as lots of reviews noted. I think they may have changed their prices? I see stickers covering the menu board, so maybe they changed it! The sandwiches and platters range between $6 - $9 now depending on what size you get! Food is good, service excellent. My favorite fast-service gyro place in Atlanta. Good people, solid tasty falfel.

My husband and I went here having heard so much about it. We went at around 8 in the evening on a Saturday and surprisingly the place wasn't very crowded. It's a small place with hardly about 8-10 tables for seating. They have a couple of tables on the patio too. The service is real quick. The menu is limited. I ordered the falafel and the regular rice bowl platter. It's comes with rice, lettuce, tomatoes, chicken/ beef, pita slices and the heavenly white sauce (I took a little bit extra of that ;) ). The platter tasted really good and the quantity was a bit too much for me. The falafel was slightly dry and tasted just okay.
