Guild Café next to the Westin Emerald downtown is a solid, dependable spot. Definitely better than Starbucks -- the coffee tastes more refined, less burnt, and the atmosphere feels calmer and more local. That said, considering it sits right next to a five-star Westin hotel, I honestly expected a little more polish and creativity. It's good... just not special. The drinks are well made, pastries are decent, service is polite -- but nothing that really stands out or makes you say "wow." It's a convenient, reliable option if you're staying at the Westin or walking around downtown. I was a bit confused when I walked up bc it is actually a bar within a hotel called the Guild. I went super early (0900) so it was pretty vacant and quiet. The bartenders were so friendly and attentive and the food was excellent!! Surprising for bar food! I would definitely come here again. 10/10. read more

Ordered a couple of meals due to having some credit and the complimentary breakfasts. I feel a little torn since breakfast was free and I paid only partial for the dinners. The grand slam breakfast: it came with 2 slices of bacon, 2 eggs cooked your way, potatoes and sourdough bread, butter and jam. The eggs seemed like it was egg beaters and it was okay. The potatoes, bacon and bread were good. Price: complimentary. Steak frites: it came with steak and fries with shredded Parmesan on it. The food was just salty. The sauce that was on top of the steak was so salty that's all I could taste. At least it was cooked as ordered - medium. The Parmesan fries were salty from the Parmesan cheese and whatever seasoning they use. I had to drink lots of water to flush the salt out. Price: listed on website - 25, actually 31 Smash burger and fries: the burger comes with 2 patties, bacon jam, secret sauce and cheese. The patties were overly salty and I could not enjoy the food. Thankfully I asked for salt on the side for the fries. The cooks for this establishment love salt. Price: 17 listed on website, actual 24 Not a fan of this place. We tried the Guild Cafe for breakfast while staying at the hotel. It was such a fun, stylish spot. The bartenders and servers were all super friendly and helpful. We ordered a plate with scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, and toast. We also got the yogurt and granola that came with fruit and toast. Everything was tasty and came out quickly. I'd definitely come back here even if I weren't staying at the hotel. read more

Not sure how and why, but it was. $15 Smashburger - Perfect! No notes! $21 for a single Steak frites - Didn't enjoy the sauce, so had it a second time without the sauce and it was much better. $34 Cacio e pepe - Way too much pepper, did not enjoy. $22 Chicken artichoke panino - It was OK but I wouldn't get it again. $18 The coffee beans are Intelligentsia and their coffee is some of the best around. Don't even need to leave the hotel for a cup. Even the batch brew they put out in the morning is outstanding. read more

We stayed the night here at Guild Hotel and figured to try their breakfast before checking out. We sat in the courtyard which was very peaceful to begin with. The avocado toast has such a fancy presentation and I had ordered with a Poached Egg for the runny yolk. I like that the onions were not too sour and micro greens went well with this meal. The guild slam looks so good! I had a couple of the potatoes on the side, It was very crispy and warm. My boyfriend enjoyed the Guild Slam and was still full for awhile. The service here is fantastic. Fast, knowledgeable and always with a smile. The food was better than expected. Not five star dining, but better than a lot of the hotel food we've had while traveling.
