The sauce that was on top of the steak was so salty that's all I could taste. At least it was cooked as ordered - medium. 08.08.26 In town for a work conference next week, and…read morestaying at a nearby hotel. Arrived early from Sac so after checking in, I needed breakfast. Hotel receptionist recommended Swami's, saying "they've got everything". So, after confirming rating, menu, and seating via Yelp, I decided to give it a whirl. Only a couple blocks walk, easy-peasy. Located near light rail, it was a cute, unassuming spot with a few patio tables for al fresco dining. I walked in and read the sign that for dining in to grab a menu and a seat and order will be taken at the table. Great! Knew they had a specialty menu and a regular menu, I grabbed both and found a nice 4-seater by the window. I love a nice view with my meal, especially when solo. Almost immediately I was tended to by my server, asking if I've been in before. Told her "no" and she proceeded to let me know there was a self-serve coffee bar in the corner by the fountain drinks and if I wanted a 'specialty' type drink they would prepare it. Then offered to start me with water. Right off the bat, I appreciated the efficient way of greeting a patron. Looking over the menu more closely, it was hard to decide. Do I go with one of their many amazing benedict options--my typical go-to for an enjoyable breakfast? Or my good ol' standby and basic breakfast of eggs, bacon, hashed browns & toast? The benes I was eyeballing were their specialties avocado Florentine and the Swami's Waffle bene--a twist I've not seen before. With it having their namesake, it'd have to be good, right? My server came back with my water saw I needed a few more minutes. I was also wondering how much adding bacon to a dish would be since it wasn't listed anywhere on the menus, and I was considering that for the Florentine. But then there also was another breakfast favorite of mine, Chilaquiles. Too many great choices! My server came back for my order and I had to ask about the most popular dishes. She started rambling off omelets, but I'm not a big omelet girl. She then suggested the Chilaquiles, said she really like the El Paso bene (another I eyeballed), then I told her that I'm just in the mood for my basic breakfast and didn't see anything that quite fit the bill. She pointed out the Swami's Combo, but choice of side would've only been either hashed or bacon and I'd have to add the other BUT it came with coffee included (normally $4). I wanted to try the coffee, as the selection variety was intriguing. She then brought up an 'off-the-menu' item, the Big Breakfast. It basically had everything I wanted but coffee would be extra. I asked how it compared to the Swami's Combo and added stuff I wanted price-wise, and she said it's pretty much equal. So, I just went with the Big Breakfast cuz, gotta love those off-the-menu orders, right? She said it came with bacon and ham but I could get all bacon if I wanted at an extra $1 charge. Not a ham fan, I went with it. Ordered eggs runny yolk and cooked white--whatever they think that is LOL and chose english muffin option. Asked for my bacon & hash browns extra crispy. While I waited for my order, a hostesses ask me if I was eating alone and politely asked if I would move to another table to accommodate a party that arrived. I explained that I really wanted a window seat and with that, she said "No worries at all". I heard her explain to the party that it would be a little wait. THAT was quite amazing and I honestly appreciated her acceptance of my decline. I then took time to check out the restaurant. Noticed the kitchen was busy but running like a well-oiled machine. Patrons were a plenty, a constant busy, with several waiting for seating by the time I left around 10:30a on a Saturday. There were a few TVs with the vibe feeling very, diner-ish. I also noticed that it was a bit, stuffy inside, and was thankful I had my portable fan to keep me cool at my table the entire time. Surprisingly, the food came out quick and it looked fantastic! Runner asked if I needed anything else, and after a quick glance at the table condiments, I said with a smile it's already covered. I asked him later for a few extra napkins and he was appy to bring some. I tell you, the service here is super friendly and great! It matched with the meal, food was sooo good! Perfectly cooked, bacon was thick, PERFECT! Oh!! It also came with salsa that tasted homemade--and confirmed is made in-house! I could tell and would have NO issue eating with chips. Guys, if you're in the area and looking for great, friendly service with amazing food, give Swami's a shot. I would no doubt return!!

Swami's was just up the street from the hotel, so we decided to give it a try. This is a small, very unassuming restaurant that appears to have a good thing going as people were coming and going the entire time we were there. Service was very good and our server was very attentive even though the restaurant was quite busy. We ordered an Ahi Tuna salad and the Swami's Pitaya Smoothie Bowl. Unfortunately, the Ahi Tuna Salad came to the table as the Ahi Tuna Wrap. To make up for the mistake, a side salad with all the fixins in the ahi tuna salad was provided. Both these items were enjoyed. The Swami's Pitaya Smoothie Bowl looked amazing and tasted much the same. Based on our experience, and the quality of food, we will be back.

I was wrong, this omelette was *so* good! The best omelette I've maybe ever had. Enoki mushrooms, thick cut bacon, and the best side potatoes I've ever had (smashed and fried fingerling potatoes with a creamy sauce) WOW it was good. We did not and had to wait almost an hour (after being quoted 20 min) at around 10:15AM on a Saturday. The host stand was not welcoming and they seemed to be really upset that people were coming in to eat. They were way more involved in gossiping with each other than tending to the people coming in. When it was our time to sit (we were first in the waitlist line and had received the text our table was ready), we were told there was still a 5 min wait. Two more couples were sat before us then we sat. That was also really annoying, although I'm sure it's just because the same thing happened to them. It took a very, very long time for someone to come acknowledge us at the table. The table had a chair and banquette seating. The banquette was too short for the table and the person sitting next to us had her barefoot by me. Disgusting. I also had to deal with her menu that she didn't want by her so she placed near me. The server didn't want to take it for some reason so the next people who sat at that table thought it was mine. I wasn't about to touch the menu that was under this disgusting woman's bare feet. Sorry, not my job. When we finally were blessed with the server, he was nice and explained things to us. Albeit they were incorrect, but he did give us a slight discount for being wrong. Hooray! /s He made up for being nice though, and almost never showed up again. We had to flag him down every time we needed something. This was an ok experience because the food wasn't horrible. My breakfast pizza was good but severely overcooked, with hard crusts and all the way set eggs. He asked me if I wanted over easy. The answer was yes. The french toast special was good. The coffee was terrible. Completely non standard small sizing and delivered to us cold. Even though we planned to eat here again, we did not. I'd rather eat at the airport McDonald's than eat here again, even if it was "free."

If you eat there, I would recommend the Alma Breakfast Sandwich. The breads they offer here are sooo good. I would skip the chilaquilles if you're used to the traditional style chilaquilles. I just ate the eggs on top of that dish and couldn't bring myself to eat the tortilla chips offered with it. Knowing that the breads at the restaurant are good, I'd also recommend their California Chicken Club if you're coming here for lunch. I saw there were reviews where people complained that they were ignored, or their food took a long time to arrived. We experienced the complete opposite here. Everyone was super nice. The food arrived fast. The restaurant was never too busy during breakfast and lunch. Seriously like they brought the kids at our table some crayons and a menu with a drawing in the back to color. Later they gave the kids a coloring book. And before they left they even gave the kids a coloring page. (And no, it was not to keep them quiet, lol). Note: be aware that they allow dogs in the restaurant.
