This was recommended to me from a staff member at the convention center. It is a few blocks away from the convention center a very quick walk probably about 10 minutes if that and the location is very easy to find . It is a small convenience store that feature a lot of different liquors and snacks and they have a small deli counter in the back with the pricing and a menu and full view . The staff members that work there are very helpful, friendly, courteous, and kind and took the time to explain a couple different variations of sandwiches that they offer . I opted for the turkey club, which I think is called the home run club possibly and let me say everything was very fresh and very flavorful . If you're near the convention center or anywhere near this location, I highly recommend stopping in and getting a sandwich. They also offer different breakfast sandwiches as well. I used to love this place during comic con but this last week was an utter shit show. $4 for not even half an avocado added to my wrap? Bonkers. I ordered a caesar salad wrap, adding avocado and tomato. The cashier asked if I still wanted the croutons in it and I did. There's two old ladies making the sandwiches. They are slow, loud, obnoxious, and constantly getting orders wrong. I saw a number of wrong sandwiches get handed off to other store workers or delivery guys because the women kept messing up. Then I saw the cashier constantly ask about orders that were waiting 20-30 minutes. My wrap was first brought out smeared in dressing and avocado. The cashier was kind enough to rewrap it. When I sat down to eat I immediately noticed no croutons. The hardly any chicken. The wrap wasn't even "Wrapped" and completely fell apart once I opened and bit into it. They know comic con happens every year and don't even hire extra staff or get prepared for it. At least subway you can order ahead through the app. I haven't eaten subway in 15 years but will probably go there next year instead. read more

This is one of my go to spots for SDCC. A lot of options to choose from. I do want to warn you that they get your order wrong. Today I got the Mama Alicia Coddled Breakfast Crossanwich. I asked for no bacon but add sausage. I cannot eat pork as I get bad stomach issues sadly. The guy I ordered from kept saying bagel and I would say no Croissant and I showed him the menu. He told me it's a new menu. The. I looked at my receipt and it said bagel so I had to go back and tell him. It also cost more than what it is posted. Attending a giant conference at the convention center where lunch isn't served! Just wanted a quick sandwich full of fresh vegetables and cheese. Really short walk from the convention center and mamy treated me like a regular customer, apologizing for the wait. I reassured her that she was awesome and appreciated. Magical service and a sandwich (the veggie) that weighed at least a pound, and was the size of my face, full of fresh vegetables and avocado, with balanced flavors. For having spent a lot of time in San Diego, I haven't spent much time downtown. So I went for a wander for a bit of breakfast and actually went in because I saw they had drinks and snacks. When I walked in, I could smell the deli so I had to try it. Even though I knew it would be too big, I went for the Breakfast Burrito. I went for just bacon because all the meats seemed a bit much. It comes with tomatoes, peppers, and onions. They also asked if I wanted salsa, which of course I did. It was made fresh and it was delicious. This has been my number one go to for lunch for a few reasons: + Hecka bomb sandwiches + They also sell alcohol + THERE IS NO LONE LINE FOR FOOD + Prices are reasonable But its been awhile due to the pandemic. However, since I decided to vacation in San Diego, I thought I still swing by for my usual sandwich: NEW YORK - $11.99 Corned Beef, Pastrami, Swiss, Sauerkraut, 1000 Island & Mustard. Although its not as hefty as I remember, it's still a solid sandwich. Slightly warm and so full of flavor and dressing. PERFECT. I love this sandwich so much. I noticed they've renovated the place to a new layout with new LCD screens for menus. They all sorts of things you'd find in a convenient store. This place was a combo of corner street liquor store, bodega and convince store all in one. It was a close walk to the convention center and most of the hotels. I went in pretty early in the morning to pick up breakfast and lunch as I was going to have a busy day. The breakfast burrito was massive but so good. Highly suggest if you want a filling and tasty start to your day. I also picked up a BBQ wrap and it was also pretty good, I can't rate as accurate because I ate when cold after a few hours but even then pretty solid at room temp. But if it was anything like the breakfast when hot I'm sure it would have been great. Only comment I will make is that it was very obvious the woman in the back making the food needed some help so if there are a lot of people I would expect it to be slow. read more

What a nice surprise. I was starving and my hotel had horrible choices. This bodega was across the street. I am in the middle of the Gaslamp District and there are plenty of restaurant choices, but it seemed like most were open later and for dinner. This place had a really nice selection of pre-made sandwiches and salads. You can also order fresh off the menu. The lady was super friendly and helpful. I ordered the breakfast burrito and asked for no meat. She gave me a veggie burrito with avocado, and it was huge. I was not expecting it to be that big. It also came with 2 sides of salsa. Besides one of the salsas having mold in it, it was delicious. The veggies were fresh, and it probably had at least 3 or 4 eggs. I could not eat it all. I also took one of the pre-made salads for my dinner. I chose the Greek salad. You can see in my picture it was freshly made. It was also very good. It came with the cheese and dressing on the side. You have to pay for the sandwiches first, and they took card and cash. There was a minimum for card purchases, but it was less than a sandwich, so that wasn't a problem. The portion was huge for a half sandwich (and a reasonable price). The bread (white torta) was so toasted it had a burnt flavor, and the bacon was charred to a crisp. It was too dry for my liking. This place is located in side a market/liquor/convenient store. They make a variety of sandwiches, wraps, burritos, and salads and offer inside seating. I had the breakfast burrito for around $7. The burrito included sausage, bacon, ham, tomatoes, green peppers, onions, American cheese, and egg of course. The burrito's are all cooked in a microwave/convection oven with some pretty good results. The burrito was of a very good size and quite filling. The egg was lightly seasoned for my tasted so I added some black pepper. It was good and not bad for not being prepared in a conventional skillet. The bacon was great, the breakfast sausage flavorful, and the ham was savory. It came with a very good amount of all three proteins. I loved the addition of the fresh vegetables which a tasted great in the burrito, but I was would encourage them to chop them into small bite side pieces for ease of eating and so that one does not overwhelm when you take a bite into one of the large pieces. Uniformity is important in a good burrito. The lady who made the burrito had a good sense of humor. read more

I've given this place a lot of chances, but the quality is too inconsistent. When a certain deli chef is working, the food is good, but when the other is working, it's disorganized, and the quality of the food is sub-par. I had a breakfast burrito and the steak was grey, and the eggs were greenish-yellow. I really want to help improve this place because of the convenience.
