The Daily Grind's the place, it's as simple as that. With Rick as the new owner, you are sure to have a great visit to this gem. The menu's nothing fancy, but what they do, they do well. Sandwiches are $5.75 and include chips and a pickle. My personal favorites are the Poor Boy and the Dagwood, but there are a few other options to choose from. Another tip: you can request the sandwich on either their local-baked bread or on bagel (both are great options). Though under new ownership, the substance and spirit of the original "Jay's Daily Grind" has been maintained. Even the decor, for the main part, has carried on in honorary tradition. Over the 2013 winter break, they updated the dining area with new tables, chairs, and a really helpful power strip along the window seats (a clutch addition for students looking to get some work done). That's the Daily Grind in a nutshell: doing what they can to welcome you, feed you, caffeinate you, and motivate you. An hour here is good for the soul. Did I mention the coffee? These guys turn out consistently fantastic lattes, cappuccinos, and just regular ol' joe. When I first moved to Morgantown, I was a little put off by the fact that in the afternoon, they sometimes served lukewarm coffee. I've been going to The Grind for years and it's always been the best place in town to get the highest quality of coffee. The sandwiches (particularly the Dagwood) are always delicious and the location makes it a great place to people watch. It's also an underrated place to take kids. I've had baristas (without being asked) offer up a coffee cup cut down to the size of a kids bowl and filled with apple sauce and provided to my young kids. read more

Sometimes I go crazy and order a breakfast sandwich (on a roll is the way to go!) The vibe is cool too. I have been to this place twice so far, and they have impressed me both times. Their egg sandwiches are well seasoned and very filling, and their coffee is richly flavored. The first time I went, I mentioned that I saw on their website that they had a buy one get one for their egg sandwiches, and the owner happily said, "yeah, we're doing that to promote the app, but I can go ahead and give that deal to you." I got two bacon egg and cheese sandwiches, one with chicken salad and one with roast beef, and I got a large maple coffee for my wife. My wife and I thought everything was delicious, and my wife couldn't finish hers in one sitting due to the size. I was stuffed! The second time I went, I used the app to order, and I still got the buy one get one for their egg sandwiches and ordered basically the same thing. When I get there, the owner said that they had run out of chicken salad, apologizing profusely, and asked if I wanted anything else. I told him turkey, not really bothered by this. This is a mom and pop coffee shop. If something happens, they can't just go running to a sister store for help like a Starbucks could. He then offered me a free coffee while I wait due to the mistake. I have had Starbucks run out of an ingredient, and they didn't give me a discount, let alone something free, because of it. I told him that I had planned to order a large maple coffee to go (cannot order coffee yet on the app). He happily gave me that coffee free. He even apologized again on my way out. FOR FOOOD: my boyfriend had two Bacon/ Egg and Cheese on Kaiser Rolls- he said they had a little too much pepper but were still really gooood. I've been here several times, and there always seems to be something wrong. Today I got in just before 8, almost a full hour after they opened, and there was no baked goods. The Grind is one of those coffee shops that makes me want to shift my whole schedule forward three hours. They close early, but that's mainly so they can get up super early and make you some delicious baked goods (courtesy of the super cool Jessie G.). My husband and I were driving through and stopped for sandwiches and coffee. The woman helping me at the front was very sweet, but after waiting 30 minutes, one of our sandwiches was not received, and my salad was given in two 16 oz plastic cups bc they didn't have the correct carry out containers ordered.
