Von Blaze was a very different vibes. The inside is very small with not many tables but has that small town feel. Service was decent, we got what we needed. The food had a different taste but it was still very good. I got the dom which was a chicken sandwich - I will say the bleu cheese very overwhelming which made me not love it. I would love to see them add a spicy chicken sandwich because I bet it would be awesome. My fiancé got the von blaze burger. He said it was very very good. The smash burger was cooked amazing and the short rib had a very good taste. Overall, it is a very small menu. We would def go back! read more

Amazing food! Amazing service! Quaint place. Keep in mind food made to order, expect a wait but it's worth it. We split a Von Blaze Burger and Parmesan Truffle Fries. The burger was succulent! I asked for extra horseradish sauce on the side for dipping. Fries best we ever had!! The thing about saucing fries is the get soggy. These fries did not. By far the best we've ever had. read more

I don't often dance in my seat while eating. But when I do, it's because I'm eating a perfectly cooked egg. A perfectly cooked jammy egg will send me to the moon, but a poached egg with runny yolk is also sublime. I was dancing and "mmm"-ing with every bite while I ate my poached Turkish eggs here at Von Blaze, a brunch and lunch restaurant in downtown Morgantown. The Turkish eggs dish was two poached eggs over garlic and dill Greek yogurt, drizzled with chili paprika butter and sprinkled with roasted chickpeas. They give you some warm flatbread to eat it with. It's hard to describe how amazing this dish was, but the mix of temperatures (cool yogurt with hot eggs), textures (crunchy chickpeas with soft everything else) was a sensory overload. And to make it all better, you eat it with your hands with the flatbread! Or, at least, I did. So you really get all up in there and feel the food before eating it. It was kinda a primal and sensual experience. Everyone else at my table got food you eat with a fork, and we all tasted a little bit of each other's food. We got the Dutch baby, which was served with Nutella, sliced bananas and whipped cream. We got the tres leches French toast, which was made with brioche bread, drizzled with dulce de leche and topped with whipped cream. We also got the Greens and Grits: cheddar polenta with collard greens, sausage and a fried egg on top. Every single thing we ate was amazing. This had to be the best meal we had in Morgantown for sure, but also the best meal we had while visiting the state of West Virginia. The black coffee was great. The service was great. The menu is blessedly only a single page, printed on one side. The restaurant itself is small, and I don't believe they take reservations, so plan ahead. They do have outdoor seating, for when the weather is nice. read more

Don't be alarmed if your GPS takes you a few blocks to the south of where this restaurant is. Persevere and make sure you get there! We had a wonderfully inventive and excellent lunch! The service was so friendly and great prices. I had the soup flight - French onion soup(really authentic Rich, sweet beef, broth, and onions with melted cheese and croutons), a chicken ranch dumpling soup, and a very fresh spicy tomato bisque with fresh sourdough bread for dipping. Each one was distinctive, homemade by the chef and downright delicious! my husband had the bourbon pork sandwich that was incredibly tasty along with some really good fries and a Mexican lager. So glad we came here and didn't just settle for pizza! Wish we weren't from out of town and could come again! read more

Tables were in high demand, so my hubby & I sat at the bar! I had the most delicious chicken sandwich special with fries! Beer advice is always on-par (I like a light beer)! What a cool little spot in Morgantown! The food is made fresh to order so it takes just a little extra time but worth the wait. I ordered plain GF fries and a burger with lettuce tomato and onion on a GF bun. I'm not really adventurous with my fries, but you can get really adventurous and get some really cool toppings on your fries. I saw others around me order them and they also looked good. You won't break the bank coming here either which is great for the quality of food that you get. I will be back and I suggest you come check it out as well!! read more

Stopped by for another breakfast & of course, everything was perfect! If you are there with a party for brunch and are doing mimosas, i recommend ordering a whole bottle. I got the savory, lobster french toast. It did not disappoint. I highly recommend if you like lobster. Atmosphere is always positive and fun. If the weather is nice, you should try their outdoor seating. Service is always amazing. Everyone is very attentive and knowledgeable. Highly recommend a reservation for brunch! read more

Got into Morgantown and was looking for a spot to grab dinner. Not only did I get over 5 recommendations from my followers but someone who I bumped into on the street also recommended it. The service was prompt and friendly, the pricing is excellent, the inside was comfortable, and the food was delicious. I saw multiple recommendations for the French onion soup on yelp and I had to grab it. Very tasty! read more

I absolutely love going to Von Blaze! I feel like it is a hidden gem in Morgantown. There is a nice deck outside that you can sit on, or you can sit inside. The staff is always so friendly too! The loaded fries are always a go-to and each flavor that I have tried, never disappoints. My go-to sandwich is always The Dom. The buffalo is not overpowering and provides the right about of spice. The chicken is always so tender as well. The sandwich is always delicious and never disappoints! I highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a delicious meal! read more

Past few times I have gone to Von Blaze food/service has been subpar. Usually enjoy to sit out on the deck during nice weather, but the last time I went it honestly would've been best to sit inside. I know this is out of their control, but the smell from the garbage cans close by was a little strong, but to make things worse employees/possible friends of employees decided to have a smoke break on the same deck that patrons were being served. Brunch in the past, there has been good, but recently got Caesar green goddess salad for dinner and lettuce did not seem very fresh. read more

We, co-workers and I, had been on the road all morning and were looking forward to a good meal to eat, and Von Blaze didn't disappoint us. It's located in the downtown area of Morgantown, which I found to be such a cute town to walk through to get to the restaurant. We were welcomed and were able to get a table for 6 quickly.  Almost all of us ordered the Von Blaze Burger, which consists of short ribs, smashed patties, fried onions, horseradish sauce, and other ingredients. I ordered mine with a side of fries, and you can pick one of their many sauces for your fries. I chose the Garlic Parm and my coworkers got the Bourbon Apple BBQ with their sides. EVERYONE was impressed with their meals. The burger was so juicy and delicious. The horseradish sauce elevated the flavor from the short ribs. The fries were crispy and the sauces we dipped them in were addictive. My co-worker, who ordered the Apple BBQ, said it reminded him of the homemade apple jams he had as a kid. For the great service, delicious food, reasonable prices, and cute location, I'm pretty sure this is the go-to spot for us when we're travelling. Highly recommend it! read more

Wow!!! Literally in my top 5 burgers of all time and I have eaten a lot of burgers. I had the original with short rib on it and it blew my mind. I love the charred meat on the edges and the short rib was crazy tender. The onions added so much to the flavor profile. Service was ok until the end when we were waiting to pay. This place way exceeded my expectations read more

I don't get the hype at all. The food was fine, but absolutely nothing special. The menu is beyond pretentious - the food descriptions are ridiculous and the prices are wildly inconsistent. What sent me (and sent me here) was their cheesecake, insanely priced at NINE DOLLARS. For this price, I expected a hefty portion, and was stunned when this tiny isosceles piece was set in front of me. I was compelled to, for the first time in my 45 years on earth, say something to my server. I cheerfully pointed out how insultingly small the portion is and asked for a bigger piece. The teenager waiting on us said that it was homemade, that it was already cut, and that he could give me a bigger piece, but he'd have to charge me. GTFO. I'm *baffled* - why didn't this kid just chill and give me a bigger piece? I hope the owners of Von Blaze didn't train him to treat customers like this. He and the super shady looking cook were the only staff there, or I would have actually uttered the words I have or would never let pass my lips; I'd like to speak to a manager. Von Blaze, your cheesecake price is absurd, the portion size is insulting, and your staff is so poorly trained that I will never eat at your restaurant again. read more

Great food. Great service. Kind people! Lovely atmosphere. Cant wait to see more coming from them!

Great little place tucked away from the main drag (just a few steps). Unusual sandwiches, fries and "drummers"! Kids had drummies with crushed takis, my daughter had the blaze burger and I had the thick cut BLT. We also ordered fries, salt n pepper and the Doritos style. Von Blaze - Dining room - Sandwiches Near Me - Morgantown, West Virginia

So I really wanted to like this spot because my friends were adamant that we try it. We were in the area for only a night, anyways the menu looked good but everything on it was tryin so hard to be unique that some of it just missed the mark. We started with the Doritos fries and the brisket fries. These were my two favorite dishes of the night and pretty much all I ended up eating. The brisket was dry as hell but the gravy and fries made up for that so it was still good. Next I had the Thai drummies and the sauce was good but it was cold and the chicken was luke warm at best so that kinda took away from it. I told our server but she was just like oh sorry and kept it moving. Whatever. We took them to go so I can make them hot later on my own. The French dip we got was just meh I didn't loathe it but I wasn't happy about paying $22 for it and not being like this is the best damn sandwich that has ever touched my luscious lips. We also had the burger which I wasn't a fan of but my fiancé enjoyed. We then had the lobster grilled cheese which was tasty but I don't know if it was $30 tasty. All and all it was all interesting and glad we tried it I guess but I'm not rushing back that's for sure. They did have draft root beer and I love that but no liquor and my fav is root beer and bourbon so Yeah I wish I had that to add to it but that's not their fault. I like the vibe here and the service was wonderful I wish I knew the servers name because she was very attentive even if she didn't seem to know how to respond to me informing her that my food was cold. I was more just wanting to make sure the kitchen was aware because honestly I was full from the delicious fries. If I found myself here again id definitely get just the fried because those were banging. That's all. Wish I took more pics but oh well. read more

The garlic Parmesan fries were so amazing! We got a big one for the table and everyone went wild. My 2 friends seemed to really enjoy their super thick bacon BLTs. My other friend got the grilled cheese and soup and thought it was ok and I got the buffalo chicken sandwich and it was also ok. It was a little sweet and I wasn't expecting that, but otherwise I thought the sandwich was well executed - crispy chicken, huge portion size, and nice bread. A weird note but have to mention that the restaurant smells like mildew, but it is practically a basement so I understand. Would try again! read more

Didn't care much for it. Cramped, impossible to find parking, poor menu choices. Quality of food is good and staff are top though.

Upon arrival we thought the experience would be good. Walked to the host who told us to sit wherever we would like - we opted for outside seating. The waiter immediately came out with menus and left, did not as about beverages but we did not think anything of it. 10 minutes later the waiter returned to take our drink order - beer and water arrived shortly after. We decided to place our food order after receiving our beverages. We got the Bruno style drummies, Pot Liquor Pork and The Dom sandwich with the Garlic Parmesan fries. The drummies tasted how wet dog smells, the Garlic Parmesan fries tasted as though you poorly cooked frozen fries and dumped Buffalo Wild Wings Parmesan Garlic sauce on them, and I cannot even put into words how terrible the sandwiches were. The food took so long to arrive (45 minutes after placing) we decided to order another round of beers. Mind you there was only one other family there. I cannot speak to the ambiance unless you like being tucked away in an alley observing hobo activity. For 85$ for two people, I would have expected significantly better especially since this place was ranked #1 for Morgantown Local Eats... I still have many questions how they received this rating, will NOT be returning. Giving 1-star because I cannot give a goose egg. read more

We stopped here for lunch on our way to Columbus and I'm so glad we did! It is a very small place and parking is a little difficult but there is a pay lot a little past the restaurant. It was a little busy when we were there at 1pm on a Saturday so we ended up sitting at the bar. The service was very fast and everyone was super nice. We got our food in about 10 minutes and it was so good. I got the Von Blaze Burger ($15) which was topped with white American cheese, short rib, crispy onions, bordelaise sauce and horseradish cream. It is 100% up there with the best burgers I've ever had. The patty was a smash patty and the edges were super crispy and the short rib on top was so tender. Everything blended so well, it was fantastic! Ryan got the Mr. Cheezle ($10) which was a grilled cheese with tomato bisque which was also very good. Super cheesy and paired very well with the tomato bisque. If we're ever coming through again we will definitely stop! read more

Von Blaze - The difference between a good restaurant and a great restaurant. A good restaurant will set a standard for food quality, and ensure guests receive dishes that are the same quality with every meal. Simply put, a good restaurant meets expectations for decent food, good service, and value for money. Excellent restaurants, like Von Blaze, go above and beyond in every capacity - quality ingredients, attentiveness to their customers, thoughtful presentation, creative menus, and they surround themselves with wonderful staff that share their vision. A great restaurant shows hospitality to it's guests, but also shows care to it's staff. That speaks volumes. These restaurants are rare and special places that make you smile when you talk about them. They turn your meals into incredible experiences. They coax you out of your normal food routine and make you want to try something new because it's just that special. They take up permanent residence in your memory in the best possible way. Von Blaze is that place. Daily, their team serves-up creative sandwiches, fries with a twist, drummies, and much more. But, if you're watchful, and diligent, you might be lucky enough to get tickets to one of their pop-up dinners. Make no mistake though, these aren't "dinners." They're events. We've been lucky enough to get tickets to their Ramen pop-ups (they're incredible), and recently, after stalking their page, we hit the lotto and got tickets to their Valentine's Day event. In true Von Blaze fashion, they decided to do something a little different. They limited their seating, and served each group of guests a thoughtful, creative 5 course meal over two hours. It was so nice to not feel rushed, and to be able to really appreciate the talent that was behind each plate that was presented. I wish I had a recording of what was being said at the tables around us - the guests were awe-struck, and rightfully so. Add to that another equally important layer - the service. The Von Blaze servers are proactive, efficient, extremely polite, and seem to have this uncanny ability to know what you need before you do. Being served by them is such a treat. As usual, Von Blaze seems to always be thinking outside the box. And the Valentine's event was no exception. Morgantown is lucky to have Von Blaze, and I hope everyone shows them the love they deserve. You'll have zero regrets, I promise. read more

Reservations required for brunch and you won't regret it. This seating time will sell out. Everything down to the basic bacon and eggs is so tasty. My favorite is the croque madame - cheesey but not smothered. The place is small but the (fresh) juice is definitely worth the squeeze if you know what I mean. Now that they've found their rhythm, Von Blaze is consistently excellent. The owner, April, is very kind whenever I have interactions with her and the service is always friendly. read more

Visited the area for the weekend and came here for a quick meal on a Friday night before a WVU basketball game. This place was amazing! Very cute interior and the staff was very nice. The seasoned chips added a nice crunchy texture and flavor as well. Would definitely come back here any day to try some of the other menu items.
