Blue Moose Cafe will always be the place where my youngest child tasted his first big gulp of espresso ... but not intentionally. We thought that the mini cup we were given was a kid's hot chocolate, but after my son tasted it, he grimaced and said, "This hot chocolate is not good." It turns out, we grabbed a double shot of espresso instead of the hot chocolate! Oh, whatta mixup. So, now my 10-year-old kid knows what coffee tastes like, and vows to never drink coffee ever again. He did eventually get his hot chocolate and enjoyed it a lot more than espresso. I wanted to get a little something sweet, but when we visited in the late morning, there was nothing really in the display cases except a couple of muffins. This doesn't seem like the place to find a lot of baked goods, anyway. The restrooms here are something else. There are two very small rooms with toilets, and then there's a communal sink around the corner. It's not immediately apparent that there's a place to wash your hands that's around the corner, so I'm hoping that people figure it out. read more

An nice coffee shop that has been around a long time, a Morgantown institution. Recently they added food back into the menu, in addition to the muffins and pastries. Zeke's from up on High street does the kitchen, and they have an excellent breakfast menu until 2pm! I love the breakfast burrito, it is my favorite. read more

Passing through what seemed to be a coffee rich area. All coffee shops had good reviews. Picked this place based on where our RV was parked near where we had lunch. The ambiance, coffee, and service was all ok. Lots of seating inside, two tables outside. I'd have preferred if they offered skim milk, any sugar free syrup, Truvia. It would be nice if there was no step in and out, my husband didn't see it and as a result spilled his coffee coming out. The bathroom serves its purpose but could be nicer. All that is to say, in a coffee rich town with several options, you might want to try a different coffee shop. read more

They have teamed with the restaurant (Zeke's) next door to serve breakfast. It's painfully slow. They aren't ready for volume orders. We've been sitting waiting for our food for over 40 minutes. When we came in it was nearly empty, and now it's packed. I feel bad for people that ordered food after us. Take the breakfast food off the menu and stick to pastries and beverages. We would leave but we our order was over $40. Frustrating. Two stars only because our beverages were amazing. Too bad we won't be enjoying them with breakfast. We won't be back. Coffee and tea are good and similar to what you would expect from most coffee shops. The inside is clean and spacious. The shop offers wifi and has newspapers available as well. The service was good and drinks came out quickly. read more

The young women here were very Courteous. I needed coffee first thing in the morning and I got here minutes after they opened. Very nice atmosphere. I'm enjoying a great cup of coffee right now before I go to work. There's very nice ambient music playing, I have not used the bathroom and I probably will leave in a second. But I'll definitely come back. I did not try the food because I don't eat food usually first thing in the morning. It's Morgantown so there's parking meters that are enforced 24/seven. I use a parking app to make sure I don't get a ticket. It's really easy to get tickets here so pay the extra 1.35 per hour. if you care sit here for a few minutes. read more

A great spot in Morgantown for food, teas, and for working! I got a large chai tea with honey which was good, but the best thing I ordered was a lox bagel on wheat! If you like a lox bagel, this is definitely a place you're guaranteed to have a good one. The small side of fresh fruits was also unexpected, but tasty as well. If you have some work you need to get done, I'd recommend stopping here for a bit and getting it done while enjoying the ambiance read more

I have been enjoying getting coffee and some pastries at the Blue Moose Cafe since 2002. Since I come to Morgantown 2 to 4 times a year, Blue Moose Cafe has been my coffee spot. Today l was very disappointed with the poor quality of coffee I received. It was bad enough I threw most of it away. It was some watery milk with syrup on the bottom of the cup. Tasted awful. Love the Blue Moose! Friendly staff, great coffee, AMAZING sun dried tomato cream cheese. It is my favorite cafe in Morgantown, without a doubt. The baristas are always super friendly, the coffee is similarly priced to Starbucks, but WAY better, and the ambiance is cool. There are plants all over and it's very down to earth. There is also some outdoor seating when it's warm out. My favorite order is the Asiago bagel with sun dried tomato cream cheese, along with a cafe au lait (made with nondairy milk). My partner loves the lox bagel, which is around $11.00 (average price) and comes with fresh fruit. The parfait is also yummy! read more

Came here for bfast on a Sunday morning. Straight off the bat, the service is friendly. Coffee was excellent (I had the barista make whatever was in their feels so long as it had oatmilk). Food was on the blandish side, BUT they have many healthy choices. Also, presentation was excellent and the side of fresh fruit was an unexpected nice touch. I give this place a 2 star bc is the food and an incident that happened while there. The food was meh! Not many breakfast options, and the options we went with were pretty meh! I got the breakfast wrap and my friend had the chipotle wrap. The chips were just meh! The salsa was poured out of a salsa jar and cupped in Soufflé cup. Nothing seemed to have its own spin too. As we say in Texas it was very Tex Mex. So I opted for water and they have their own water station with cups. Check the cups before adding your water. I poured my first cup and I kind of looked Around as I poured. I looked down to see how full my cup was and I send a lot of stuff floating so I'm thinking it's lemon water. I look, no lemons in the water. Hmmm ok maybe it was from the last batch. So then I fill up another cup and no lemon pieces floating. So then I look in the "lemon water" cup and at the bottom of it all of the debris was freeing itself from the bottom of the cup. It was cleaned. It was almost like eggs were scrambled in it then dried and u add water and it breaks apart and just floats its way up. The water thing happened first and that alone put a bad taste in our mouth. My friend opted to not even drink anything from there and just made himself eat the food bc I paid. I won't return for sure as the menu wasn't the best nor the food. Before leaving WV, my sister and I decided to grab a quick meal. Luckily this place was opened today (Labor Day) we get there and the vibe was welcoming. I order hot chai and waffle with fruits, my sister ordered a yogurt bowl with fruits (don't remember the actual name of the dish). We then get our food, and it was DELICIOUS!! The fruits did not taste mushy or like it has been in a fridge for days. Strawberries were fresh and taste like they were cut right then and there. Chai was great. Overall the food and environment were great and this was the best way to leave WV. I will definitely be coming back next time I visit my sister. read more

After visiting his sister, the boy and I stopped by here for breakfast. We got a little lost following the GPS to the cafe and finding a parking spot, but were warmly greeted once we found the place. We ordered at the counter and sat on well-worn chairs. I had the belgian waffle, which came with fruit, and whipped cream which I requested on the side. The boy had the breakfast burrito, which he said was a little meat-heavy and could benefit from a little more egg or vegetable. But for $7, he wasn't complaining too much. The ambiance is a little shabby but fits the space well. The staff was friendly and cheerful, and kept a constant chatter up with the regulars at the counter. This is a great little local cafe, and I imagine we'll be back next time we're in town. read more

Placed in the heart of Morgantown this artistic hub for young and old alike has great coffee and tasty food. We ordered the daily drip one bean from Zimbabwe and the other from Mexico. Zimbabwe was earthy and robust. Mexico had aroma of caramel. Both were smooth and easy to drink. I ate the ham and Swiss quiche with fruit and later ordered blueberry muffin because I was still hungry (32 weeks pregnant). The cheese was a little crispy in the quiche making it hard to chew near the crust but the flavor was great. My husband ordered a tuna salad on greens. He liked it. They have free wifi making business on the road easy. We will be back if we come through Morgantown again. read more

Every college town needs a place like this, a casual little cafe that pours strong brewed coffee into a heavy mug (you don't have to get the Americano or an espresso the coffee is solid if that is what you want), and some casual food on the side. Watch the kids come in and get coffee and a muffin and snap open their computers and settle in for a session, or bring in parents to show them a slightly sanitized version of college life, or just have desultory conversations while sipping coffee and flipping through books or whatever. Two of us came here for breakfast this morning. I love the tarot card order holders. We ordered two things but only got one-- I had to go back and request the second bagel. The bagel and lox that I had was pretty good. The bagels are OK but not NYC good. (I am spoiled in the bagel department...) The coffee was great and the plant forest in back is pretty impressive. Check out the 6-7-foot cactus in the back. The women's bathroom is a little weird-- you have to go back outside to wash your hands. I like the overall shabby chic thing going on here, however, the emphasis seems more on the shabby though the prices are chic. ;-) read more

Perfect Sunday morning brunch spot downtown before heading to the airport. Two options for quiche--the veggie one was great (bacon and Gouda was the other). Very light, despite the large size, with a very soft crust. The side of fruit was more like a bite or two but I'd still order again. The coffee bar options were plentiful with several drip options (Nicaraguan Segovia and a Rwanda variety among them). I went with a decaf Orange Mocha that was rich and creamy. The guys I came with were happy with the oatmeal loaded with berries and the chicken salad wrap. Menu offers something for everybody, with huevos rancheros and waffles on the breakfast menu, sandwiches, and several salads that I would have ordered if I wasn't looking for breakfast. The baked goods on the counter were super tempting, enough so to make me get a homemade Nutter Butter cookie for the road!
