    Honey mustard duck.
    Justin L.

I totally would recommend this location. The staff welcomed you with open arms and I felt very wanted. The price point for the meal I felt was appropriate. I had the honey mustard duck! I'm a sucker for duck so it was easy for me to make that decision. I had the crispy hash brown as an appetizer/side. I also tried the screwdriver as a drink, which had a nice twist on a classic drink. It is sweet so beware, but that was OK with me. I did like the staircase, entering the location and the nice clean tables and lines. I never felt that my money was wasted here. This would be a great location for dates, group parties, and even just a great night out with a little bit of money in your pocket. Job well done!

Originally the building housed the Seagram's Corporation. What a gorgeous, historic space - high ceiling, yet quiet and elegant for our afternoon meal. Alex, the Henry served us and each lent something different and wonderful to our meal experience. Both were attentive, knowledgable and able to lift a story or two when engaged about the restaurant. They spoke with pride and knowledge. So enjoyable! The Pumpkin Soup was incredibly flavorful. Loved the crunchy pumpkin seed garnish too!My companion's Steak Florentine was declared, BEST EVER! The sides of Broccolini and Grilled mushrooms were simple and wonderful. My Duck was hot, crisp and the flavors popped! Finished with a splendid espresso. What a meal!

This was probably one of the best meals of my life! When you walk in, the space is clean and classic. No frills but simple elegance. The service is attentive but not overly annoying. All the staff is so knowledgeable. Now onto the important stuff... the food! We started with the pasta appetizer. They literally bring a press to your table to see how they make the broth. It was divine! The chopped salad was simple but perfect. The main event prime rib was everything I had hoped for and loved! They cut it tableside and it was a perfect slice. Not overly fatty. We ended the night with a little flambé baked Alaska bc who doesn't love a little fire! Cannot wait to go back

A NYC standard with a fantastic bar. Lots of corporate cards all around and people watching one another. Not my fave scene as I'm here for great food, cocktails, and wine. While the service intends to deliver a wonderful experience - it comes across as pretentious and falls short in a few areas. My martini was blah and we had to wait for our wine from a sommelier who seemed simply uninterested. The start of the night was the pasta a la presse. It's certainly a nice space and I would stay away from heavily trafficked areas and get a table where you can see the whole dining room. It's lost a bit of its luster for me.

My experience at The Grill was nothing short of amazing from beginning to finish. The restaurant is absolutely stunning, feels like you're dining in a classic restaurant in the 1960s; glamorous. Service immaculate. Food & drinks delicious. I can honestly say The Grill is a true definition of fine and classic dining.

Incredible dinner and steak. Service is top notch and extremely attentive. While they have all the standard steakhouse favorites, they have some twists and really unique dishes that stands out with other steakhouses in NYC. Cannot go wrong here at all. The beef is absolutely out of this world. Had a double cut Chateau Briand, pasta and crab cake for appetizers. The restaurant itself is a vibe. A large bar area with music isolated away from a double floor sitting area.

A truly gorgeous place to step back in time with glamour and class. My friend had just undergone a knee replacement, so while our hosts escorted her via elevator, I climbed the sweeping stairs up to the majestic dining room and bar. Definitely a special occasion destination -- it isn't cheap -- but the food, service, and ambience made it worthwhile. Erin absolutely nailed the wine pairings for the Dover sole and duck we shared. Carly, the GM, made a point of checking in, and the level of hospitality throughout was next-level: bussers clearing and resetting seamlessly, and our server Henry masterfully deboning the sole tableside. Desserts were over the top (in the best way), and by the end of lunch I had certainly overindulged -- all I really needed was a wafer-thin mint. A memorable afternoon all around.

Worth the experience? Yes! Would I come back? Maybe. Came for the duck press dish (Pasta a la Presse) as that is not something that is found at restaurants anymore. They basically take the duck and some other herbs and spices and 'smush it' with a vintage duck press and then use that broth for the pasta. Definitely worth a one time $41 order for the experience, history behind the dish, but it honestly wasn't very flavorful. We also got the Prime Rib which was supposedly spit roasted, but because it came with zero sides and was $98 for just the cut of meat.. I felt like you could get it anywhere else for better value with similar, if not same taste. We then got the Honey Mustard Duckling ($61) which was essentially a Chinese roasted duck with a nice glaze of honey 'sweet and sour like' sauce. Worth it if you've never had duck! Service was great, and the ambiance was impeccable as everyone was extremely attentive and the food was very pleasant especially thanks to the little shows and table side service.

Mad Men meets Major Food Group, the Grill is what happens when someone decides to build a restaurant around table-side presentation. Service is attentive, if a bit over-the-top. Want the servers to make the salad, omelette, dessert, pasta all at your table? Why not! The food? Very good steakhouse classics. The prime rib, alleged the star of the show, was sold out the day I went but everything else was still fantastic. The squab, ribeye, crab cake were all awesome. There is, however, one negative. This restaurant is expensive. Like, absurdly expensive, even by NYC steakhouse standards. I think I paid a hundred bucks for a plate of ham. Was it great ham? Of course! Was it hundred bucks good? A bit dubious. I think you should definitely come here, just come when you can get that boss/friend/rich aunt who owes you a dinner to pay.

Completely amazing experience in a beautiful atmosphere with superb staff. The prime rib rib was like butter. You could cut it with a butter knife. I tried a little of everything. Lobster medallions were so tasty. Can't wait to go back.

A nice evening with a group of friends at a nice round table in the middle of a beautiful space made for a memorable evening. That said I don't think I would come out of my way to return as nothing stood out to me food wise that would make me want to come back over trying other restaurants first.

This review is for dinner. Came here on a Friday evening for an early Valentine's Day celebration. It's pricey and a bit old school (think, 70 year old white men - we were one of the youngest diners), but overall I enjoyed my meal and would recommend. I think it's a good option for a celebration (birthday, anniversary, etc.) Ambiance / Service: has slightly "Mad Men" vibes - waiters in bow ties, dark wood etc. Some of the decor feels a bit outdated, but overall it's more traditional/ fancy. I would definitely recommend dressing up for dinner. It's pretty lively too - we left around 10pm and it was still packed. Service was good, but slow. Food: we ordered too much and split the below amongst two. Overall all the food was really good. Quite pricey for some of what you get, but that's to be expected. -50g Caviar: yummmm. Comes tons of sides (crème fraise, chives, onion, boiled egg, tiny hashbrowns, blinis, and mini toasts). -3 oz Crab Leg: this was a special. Meat is already taken out for you. Comes with 3 sauces. It was good, but not worth $95. Hard to picture what 3 ounces of crab would be like, but it was TINY, especially to share. -Pasta a la Presse: get this, even just for the experience. They partially make table side with a crazy contraption that looks like it's from the early 1900's. Hard to describe the flavor - very rich, has a smokiness to it almost like BBQ. Perfect size to split between 2. -The Seagram Crab Cake: loved. Thin crispy potato topper was so good. Probably would need 2 if sharing with 4 people. -Ribeye: cooked and seasoned perfectly. Love the roasted garlic that comes with it. -Honey Mustard Duckling: cooked perfectly. The skin is delicious. Honestly was one too many dishes we ordered though. -Hashbrown o Brien: good side dish. -Caramel Apple Stack: not too sweet. Very dense and moist. Almost has a pound cake consistency. It was decent, but didn't blow me away. Not sure I'd order again.

You like iconic New York...you like power lunch a la 1981...well, this is it. You feel like you stepped back in time when you go here...this harkens to the days when New York was the power center of the world. You are just waiting for Gordon Gekko to stroll across the room...it feels like that. The bar and dining room make you feel like you are about to embark on a great adventure and you can hardly wait...and fasten your seat belts because here it comes. As for the food, you don't need the menu here...order the avocado, crab salad to start and the prime rib. Both are their specialties and both the salad and prime rib are prepared at your table. The steak is served with beef bone, which they season and bake separately. Outstanding. While the food is great...what really makes this place is the ambience. It is the power center in New York and you need to go here every once in a while to remind yourself you are in the best city in the world. You want the kicker? Original Andy Warhols in the lobby. Yes...you are in New York! Service on point as always.

If I make a reservation for 10:45pm (only availability). Will I have time to eat? It says 11pm closed.

Of course. This is a classy restaurant and they will provide service as long as needed. Enjoy!

Do you need a reservation to have a drink at the bar?

No, but I suggest going a bit earlier than dinner service

We've been to NYC a few different times. How formal is this place? Should my husband have a jacket? What about for ladies.

There is not a jacket policy but he might feel a bit out of place without one. As for the ladies, casual chic will get it done.

How does the prime rib pricing work? $62 for the entire slab of meat or just for a slice?

A thick slice. Very tasty though. And you can choose if you want an end piece or Center cut.

Do they have a corkage fee?

Yes, it is $95 per 750ml (std bottle size). No limit on number of bottles.

Do they run out of entrees often? I have a reservation for 8:15 and would very much like to get the prime rib.

Yes, they do run out of the prime rib. Suggestion - you might want to call ahead and ask them to hold one (or more!) available for you. It is beyond great.

    How much is a cocktail?

It's about $15 across the board - cocktails and wines by the glass.

Can you go just for a drink?

Yes, but the bar is first come first served. There are small bites available at the bar as well but not the full menu.

I was seated right near the stairs and could feel cold air from outside every time the door opened, which made the experience uncomfortable. I was also surprised to see how much the cocktail menu had been reduced. When I asked about it, the response was that "the place changed a lot." That's fair -- places evolve -- but instead of highlighting the improvements or new strengths, the explanation focused negatively on what the bar used to be. As someone who really enjoyed the former version, that wasn't reassuring. Unfortunately, the drinks themselves didn't make up for it. One of the two cocktails was simply not good. No one came back to check on the drinks, and when I asked for the check after about 20 minutes, there was no acknowledgment that I had barely touched mine or any inquiry about my experience. Overall, a place I once enjoyed and recommended now feels more like a standard dive bar where " Mixologist " were replaced by bartender and were fun cool looking and tasty drinks were replaced by " less complex cocktail ", lacking the warmth and attention to detail that once made it special.

For drinks, we ordered the Smoke Show and the King Tusk. The Smoke Show was beautifully balanced. The Grey Goose vodka and Dolin Dry gave it that classic martini backbone, but the fino sherry and brine added depth. The smoked olive oil and blue cheese olive brought just enough savory drama without overpowering the glass. It was complex but not fussy. The King Tusk leaned more aromatic and layered. The vermouths gave it richness, while the Buddha's Hand and osmanthus flower added subtle citrus and floral notes that lingered in a really elegant way.
