Yesterday we dined with a large party at The Grill following a wine tasting. We spent a significant amount of money at both the winery and the restaurant, which made this experience even more disappointing. As our food was being served, the waiter placed a plate in front of one of our guests and knocked over a full glass of ice-cold water directly onto my sister. Her dress was completely soaked through to her undergarments and into her shoes before she had even begun her meal. What made the situation worse was the lack of professionalism and compassion from the server. His response was not an apology, but instead, "At least she's wearing black." While a female staff member did bring extra napkins, the damage had already been done--her outfit and experience were completely ruined. I told the wait staff that my sister should not be charged for her meal given the incident, and the response was, "That's probably right." However, when the bill arrived, there was no adjustment to her meal. When I asked about it, I was told the manager had discounted a bottle of champagne. That bottle, however, was purchased by a different guest, not by my sister--the person who was actually affected. This situation was handled poorly from start to finish. At a minimum, the server should have offered a sincere apology, and management should have ensured the affected guest was properly compensated. The waiter involved needs retraining on both proper service and how to respond respectfully when mistakes happen. Very disappointed in this experience, especially given the level of establishment this winery and restaurant claim to uphold. read more

The Grill is part of the Pro shop and there's seating indoors and outdoors...we sat outside overlooking the golf course which offers a spectacular view of the hills in the distance, and of the golfers as they arrive at the 18th hole. While the ambiance was awesome and the service was attentive, the food was just OK, but reasonably priced so can't complain. It's a great place to get a bite after a round of golf or after some wine tasting which is the reason we were there and to sum it up, I would say we were very pleased with the afternoon spent at Wente vineyards followed by lunch at the Grill. read more

It's so convenient to have this place on property at the vineyard. Perfect for after wine tasting. It's your typical bar and grill, part of the golf course. We came on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't busy at all. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The staff were welcoming and accommodating. They moved us inside as we were a bit chilly outside. The food was all pretty decent, though nothing spectacular, your typical bar and grill food. The dip trio was good, but the artichoke dip was the best part. A friend and I split a salad and the staff were nice enough to split it on two plates for us. The photo is of one of those split plates, as you can see it is still a massive salad! Also massive was the side order of fries! Seems unnecessary to give us that many fries, but they were really good so no complaints from me ha. read more

Came on a Saturday morning. The restaurant has a nice view of the golf course and part of the vineyards. My friend reserved a table so we got seated quickly. Shrimp and grits: 4 stars. Large shrimp with savory flavors. Grits was good too but I've had better. Lobster grill cheese: 3.5 stars per hubby. Not too memorable but nice option for hot sandwich. Chicken and bacon with avocado sandwich:3 stars. Decent but I would not order again. read more

We eat here every two weeks or so and have had good food each time ! Wine and drinks are great . Liked the lobster grilled cheese sandwich. Their steak frites is w winner . Breakfast burritos are well made and so are the bloody Mary's . read more

Went to both the grill at the golf course and the wine tasting room and leaving two separate reviews on each of them (5 for the tasting room and 2 for the grill....) I would definitely recommend going to the tasting room and unfortunately wouldn't recommend the grill. Service at the grill was actually pretty good, but the food was not. Both burgers were extremely dry. The salad was fine. The golf course view and wine were the highlights and I'd honestly tell you to eat first and just head to the tasting room instead. We went over to the tasting room after and had an awesome time! Our host was fantastic; informative about the history of Wente, the different wines, and recommendations based off what we like. We went with "The nth degree" and wow. It was a little spendy, but worth the price. So much so that I bought a couple bottles to take home. To sum it up I'd go back & try the golf course and visit the tasting room, but not the grill unless they make some improvements. read more

Went here at 8am on 3/6 and was served by Felicia. They have a limited breakfast menu so I had scrambled eggs and toast and tea. I asked for fruit, which wasn't on menu but Felicia whipped up some oranges which I appreciated. Lovely and fast service and so friendly. Much obliged for her kindness and service. Thank you Felicia. With a view like this and a glass of wine sourced from the vineyards, you could do a lot worse than enjoying a lovely meal than the outdoor setting they provide at The Grill at Wente Vineyards. Located deep in the heart of wine country of Livermore, California, The Grill at Wente Vineyards is the sole restaurant/ cafe on the lush grounds that make up the Wente VIneyards property, which not only has a winery complete with wine tasting room, of which I accidentally walked through thinking this was my dining destination, but they also have a private event space, of which they host outdoor concerts, and their own eighteen hole golf course, which is where The Grill at Wente Vineyards actually resides. A group of friends and I were visiting the Livermore area, and wanted to enjoy a lunch within the valley where most of the wineries call home. After looking up what our options were for enjoying an outdoor lunchtime meal among the vineyards, The Grill at Wente Vineyards was one of the first options that came up. My experience with Wente Vineyards consisted of two outdoor concert visits in the past when we were served food and wine before enjoying some live light rock tunes, so when my journey back to this venue after so many years off, things looked quite different especially when there was so much activity going on among the grounds. Thankfully after a wrong turn and visit to the wine tasting lounge, they informed me that the only place to dine was located all the way at the rear of the property. Here's where better signage for visitors would be useful. Once we did arrive, check-in was decent as both their dining room and outdoor patio overlooking their golf course was filled with customers during lunchtime. Upon being sat, they warned us that sitting outside would lead to a number of wasps, I assumed this also meant fruit flies as vineyards tend to attract those but it was the amount of bees that would take over our meal. The food menu at The Grill at Wente Vineyards is separated into categories including Shareables, Salads, Off the Grill, Sandwiches and Dessert. For our party of five we decided to share their Artichoke Dip with Grilled Pita; their Chipotle Pumpkin Hummus, which was a pumpkin and chipotle hummus, topped with roasted pepitas, crispy chickpeas and a drizzle of spiced maple syrup, and their Verde Pork Tacos, which were two corn tortillas topped with slow cooked pork, tomatillo salsa, onions, cilantro, queso fresco, and a side avocado. For our entrées, we were all enticed with the Sandwich section of their menu, with a majority ordering their Steak Sandwich, which seared flat iron steak served with horseradish aioli, aged cheddar, caramelized sweet onion on a toasted brioche bun. One other diner ordered their Fried Chicken Sandwich which had fried chicken, bacon, aged cheddar cheese, roasted garlic aioli, lettuce, tomato, served on a toasted bolillo roll. Our appetizers came out first, and we really loved their warm Artichoke Dip even though it looked overcooked with a thick burnt crust on top. The Hummus was serviceable but the real star of our meal had to have been their Steak Sandwich, as it was strips of lean steak cooked to perfection combined with their aioli and cheddar, it was a flavorful meal that enhanced when our table decided to split a bottle of their Wente Vineyards White Wine, and at an extremely reasonable 18 dollars, their 2021 Morning Fog Chardonnay sourced from the Central Coast. Light crisp yet extremely buttery to the taste, this was the perfect wine to enjoy while we roasted out there on their outdoor patio. And the bees were in full flight for our meal, as the meal was overtaken by them as their little spinning fans that I normally see at wineries were of no use whatsoever. We decided to end our meal by ordering two slices of their Key Lime Pie with its brown-butter graham cracker crust and topped with whipped cream. It was the perfectly affordable feast, which at 150 dollars before gratuity was added in, only added to the experience of the perfect glass of wine out on the first hole in the heart of Livermore wine country. Be forewarned this restaurant does share the restrooms with the golf clubhouse, and when I visited they were so unkept which made us wonder where all of their service was going. Here's to hoping more wineries in the area open up their premises for dining and wine tasting in order to make a real destination like The Grill at Wente Vineyards does. read more

I had a fantastic time at the grill! Our server Cali was absolutely amazing! The service here is spectacular and the food was great! Needless to say a good wine and cocktail selection. The seating overlooks the green and its great be in wine country and enjoy a fun/lazy lunch with friends. Oh dont miss the ribs! They are outstanding!! read more

It was brunch with the girl on Saturday, we made reservations, were seated promptly. We went ahead and get a bottle of sparkling wine and it was really refreshing. Overall food is not top notch, but the outdoor seating and the nice weather that day, 72f. Took some photos and walk over the tasting room. Went to Wente Grill with friends on a Sunday morning (10:15) for breakfast. Waited almost five minutes for our drink order and then almost ten minutes for them to arrive. Placed our very simple food order at about 10:30. At 11:10 our cold food finally came out. I ordered another drink, which never came. All our food was cold!! Pancake butter wouldn't even melt. Items were missing (bacon) which arrived after we were all done. Service was very bad. Ruth our server(second time, no change) was very bad. We started to go to this restaurant to enjoy the view and get away from the downtown craziness. No more. We'll put up with the wait downtown. read more

Love this spot for the ambiance and 18th hole food. When the weather is beautiful out, the view and seats outside are perfect for getting some Vitamin D and having a nice meal. You can also catch the golfers finishing their game and see how they finish off their round. The staff are friendly and helpful! They add to the atmosphere which keeps us coming back. With ample parking and clean bathrooms one can't go wrong! The course is gorgeous and even if you're not golfing that day, you can come in to grab a bite and look forward to the next time you can get out on the green. My favorite things to order are their chicken salad, Arnold Palmer (of course!) and fries! They slightly change the menu from time to time which is nice to see what they are offering seasonally. For instance the chicken salad used to come with pickled onions and watermelon radish (first time I tried it and fell in love) and this time I was pleasantly surprised to have pumpkin seeds and pomegranate! My sisters and I recently went to use the remainder of a gift card that was 20 years old. What a pleasant experience! Our service was excellent. The food delicious. We like to share plates so ordered a variety. We started with the Dr. Pepper Ribs and Vineyard Apple Salad. The ribs "fell off the bone", were moist, imparted the hoisin flavor. The salad was fresh, the dressing light and flavorful. A wonderful combination of fruit, greens, nuts and cheese. For our entrees we chose the Lobster Grilled Cheese, Chicken Pot Pie and Roasted Beet Salad. The Lobster Grilled Cheese had a sizable amount of delicious lobster and was not taken over by the cheese. Chicken Pot Pie had enough pastry and plenty of chicken and vegetables. The Roasted Beet Salad had colorful beets roasted to perfection with an array of greens. We skipped the goat cheese, but our server said it was tasty. It's hard to beat a fall day surrounded by vineyards and oaks with a view of the golf course amongst an Audubon Cooperative Certified Sanctuary. read more

To kick things off, nothing on the menu looked appetizing to me. I asked for recommendations from the employee at the ordering window. He recommended that I go with the hamburger or anything with pork. I don't eat pork, so I was basically limited to the hamburger, which I asked to add cheese. I've had better cheeseburgers at backyard barbecues. The patty was dry and flavorless. I asked for a side of BBQ sauce to spruce it up, but it was like putting lipstick on a pig. I also found that it was overpriced for as plain as the burger was. The meal came with a side of overdone fries. I like a crunchy fry, but the fries were way too hard to bite into. In addition to the burger being a miss, my friend, who ordered the chicken tacos, complained about how underwhelming they were. They really didn't look that appealing either. The tacos were $9, yet looked like simple street tacos. But at least chicken in street tacos is marinated. The chicken in the tacos at The Grill looked like they were picked off a rotisserie chicken. read more

I was thinking this was the nice restaurant that used to be at the vineyard but it is a casual restaurant that services golfers. Food is prepackaged & not very good. The guacamole is definitely not prepared on site as stated in the menu because the bite I had contained ice crystals. The whole place grossed me out. As stated in my review of Wente Vineyards, I go to the grill when I need to sober up. I've been here a few times, some during brunch, and others for dinner. The food doesn't disappoint, but it's not out of this world either. I recently had their fried chicken sandwich with fries. It was good. The chicken was a tad dry, but it had a good crunch. I think I could've used more of the honey mustard. The fries were delicious. What's nice about the grill is the outdoor seating, which has a nice view of the golf course. Even though it was cold outside, we preferred outdoor seating. They have heaters for those who are sensitive to the cold. Actually, it's nice to eat outside during the winter because the summers are very hot and full of mosquitos. Service was friendly, efficient, and fast. I like the food at the restaurant, but I needed more than the tapas on the menu. The other option was a 3-course meal, but it was all beef. I no longer eat red meat. I would eat at the grill again after doing a tasting. It satisfying enough, even for the price. read more

Before going wine tasting with my friend, we visited The Grill for lunch. Perfect since I brought my husky puppy along and their outdoor seating is dog friendly. It seemed relatively busy, but even so, service was disorganized. Waiters mixed up their tables, though it's clear these youngins were doing their best. I got the 1883 Burger, which had tomato, caramelized onions, truffle aioli, cheddar, and a sunny side up egg. $24 was pricey even for a winery grill. It wasn't bad but wasn't memorable either. I finished most of the burger and fries before trying to flag down someone to take our money for the meal. Beautiful spot to relax and watch golfers on the course. Since I had a time restriction, I was more anxious than my friend who could have spent all day drinking wine. Nevertheless, it was an alright experience, from the plentiful parking to the smiling staff. My dog had a blast with his special chicken breast meal too! read more

RACIST! Do not go if you are a person of color. I just went to the place and asked for a table. The place was empty. Maybe one of the tables were filled. They refused to seat us saying the golf people are going to come in at 4:30? I mean they can wait can't they for a table to be empty. I went on their website and booked a reservation for 4:30 which was still available. I mean if the place is going to filled up how do you still have open reservations at on your websites. Very poor service . I had told them it was my husbands bday and to make a note of it . They did not bring a cake or make it special in any way. We were there just like others . Our server was forgetting to refill our water or wine or if asked for something would take him so much time to get it . I was expecting more out of this since it's just a nice property and a great winery . But the service at The Grill wasn't great at all. Reasonably good food, nice atmosphere, but watch out for the "event" fee. The food is good (not outstanding) and reasonably priced for the atmosphere; however, we had a reservation for 12 people for lunch which apparently moves you to "event" status. That comes with a $250 "event" surcharge and only a $250 event surcharge. No table decorations, no special service, nothing. Lunch entrees are priced $13-$24, so when you throw in the 18% gratuity that kicks in at 6 or more, we were looking at $50+/person for a sandwich, fries, and non-alcoholic beverage!? When they brought the check, they pointed out the event fee and indicated it had been discussed at the time of reservation. The person who booked the reservation did not recall that conversation, but I'll take them at their word. read more

First: Roger is the best. He made our trio feel at home - as we should feel (I was born in sF) . I have to share that I'm a lighter shade of brown... AND I coordinated this outing with my friends. On our arrival I greeted a lounge staff who immediately engaged my blond blue eyed friend who had nothing to do with our patronage. On a second attempt to be front and center in an outing I had arranged and continued to be dismissed I stepped back realizing if I wanted to have a good time I had to push that garbage aside. Roger was a fountain of knowledge as we sat in the beautiful hills while enjoying East bay wine. Listen to the history these folks may share. Ambience is about four star. How can anyone top the view from The Grill looking over the Wente course? But the food remains mediocre, with the exception of the burger and maybe the grilled shrimp Caesar. If you go, go for the views, the peace and possibly the wine. I returned after a year with a friend who plays golf to show her the course. I hadn't been back because of the menu, and sadly it is the same. read more

Very standard grill food. The menu is pretty much your standard fare of burgers, hot dogs, and beer. The extra special is something offered here is Wente wine, since this grill is on the Wente vineyard property. You can get amazing deals here online.
