We had a chance to venture out to Captiva and remembered this spot from a visit some 15+ years ago. We dined at an odd hour late afternoon and they offer a very limited menu, a subset of their lunch and dinner. That was fine. We were promptly seated on their nice outdoor patio. Some diners arrive by boat. As others have mentioned service was a little slow, but adequate. Our waitress suggested the fried grouper sandwich, which was tasty, but our fries were cold and soggy. I did mention to our waitress who apologized and brought out a fresh batch. I also tried the bisque which was tasty enough, nothing exceptional. Four of us went for late brunch and sat by a window looking out over the water on a warm day away from the freezing cold of home in Providence. Our server, Milita, was enthusiastic and efficient. We visited the green flash after a day at Bowman's Beach for an early dinner. Always great scenery limited seating though so we couldn't sit outside but great view from the inside. The staff was super friendly. Everyone greeted us. The food was pretty phenomenal as well. I got the grouper sandwich which is their signature sandwich and it didn't disappoint. Very flavorful for the fish. The kids food got eaten up. They loved it and the drinks were yummy as well. The shrimp quesadilla was phenomenal too. Our group stopped in for lunch on a Saturday while boating around Captiva Island. We arrived around noon and there were still a few spots to tie up your boat. We navigated in and made our way up the dock. The restaurant is very pretty from the outside. It overlooks the water with lots of windows bringing in natural light and one of a kind views. We were seated right away for our party of 4. Not long after we arrived a Bachelorette party arrived on a tiki boat which I thought was so cool. By the looks of the restaurant, this is a go to spot for many. Our server mentioned some different cocktails and special menu options and I took her lead. I can't remember the name exactly, but I ordered almost like a pint colado but on the rocks with more of a pineapple taste. The drink was so good. It was tropical and refreshing. Just what I wanted on the warm day. My brother and I ordered the teriyaki chicken sandwich with pineapple. The chicken was delicious and cooked perfect while saying juicy. The sauce and sweetness of the pineapple made for a great combination of flavors. It was also topped with tomato, onion, and lettuce. If you think this place is nice please reevaluate what you consider a good dining restaurant. Let's start with bathroom: why is there a 6ft male manikin in the women's bathroom; it's creepy. The smoked salon plate is a small block of plain cream cheese, bread with the crust cut off and rolled smoked salmon, attempting to look nice. The grouper was fried in whole corn flake covered and only seasoned with the barely crushed cereal & nothing else... over priced and over hyped would be an understatement. First, the food was quite good. This review is about wheelchair access. There is an elevator but it was turned off because of an issue. The manager was able to turn it back on again for our visit. The bathroom had a very narrow entrance hall with a sharp turn. In that turn was a full sized male manikin that I was not able get past without shifting it and having a friend hold it away. Leaving the restroom, the manikin fell into me and I had to call my husband into the ladies room to rescue me. When I informed the manager of this, she shrugged and told me that I was the only one who ever had an issue. WtF? I was literally attacked by the stupid thing and had to be helped. Oh well? I am not sure if they were having a bad night however it was extremely disappointing. I ordered surf and turf with a medium well filet. They forgot to bring out the lobster and my filet came out medium rare. When they brought it back, the lobster was rubbery and the filet was extremely overcooked. My mom's chicken also came out raw inside and so they had to take it off the bill. My sister's chicken came out cooked, However, it was not warm, it was cool as if it was sitting waiting to be served for a while. My husband's veal chop was very rare and grisly. Overall, just a really disappointing dining experience, especially for a birthday celebration. read more

Made a reservation but upon arrival were told would be 1/2 hour wait, so we went to the bar and after only 5 minutes were told our table would be ready-which it wasn't. This is my 2nd time at the green flash. The previous visit was 12 years ago as we are from out of town. The food is excellent. We had the green flash and crab cake sandwiches with cheesecake. The location is perfect with a view of the water. The restaurant is having an identity crisis, though. It is very tired looking. It needs paint, flooring, and new furnishings. Its white tablecloth inside but the hostesses walk around in tank tops, flip flops, and yoga pants. If it's aiming for fancy, it's hitting at frumpy and old. It takes way too long to be acknowledged and sat down and too long to get the bill. It seems like a bunch of 19 yo girls are running the restaurant. The outside tables are plastic with plastic chairs. The carpet is so stained and the tile has seen better days. The floor should be replaced with wood look tile. Paint the entire restaurant navy. Install window treatments at the top to hide the dirt around the overhang outside. The sea life decals should be removed from the upper area glass partition. Install a real half wall install of the dirty glass one that's there. All tables/chairs should be replaced. Serena and Lily makes some beautiful bistro chairs that work inside and out. The entire restaurant needs a revamp. At the minimum start with paint as that is the biggest bang for your buck and save for the floors and furniture. All staff need training on promptness, acknowledging all diners with a smile and a hello, and dress code. Someone once cared about this restaurant and it deserves to be pretty again. read more
