Recently my wife and family when to the Green Flash Waterfront Restaurant, located on Captiva Island. This is one of the more unique restaurants. Situated on the waters of Roosevelt Channel, the Green Flash overlooks the Intracoastal Waterway, the waters of Pine Island Sound, and Buck Key. The Green Flash can be navigated by boat and is located southwest of Marker 38 on the Intracoastal Waterway. Once we checked in with the hostess, we were taken to our seats immediately. The entire dining room overlooks the Intracoastal waterway. It's such a beautiful sight while dining. When our server came and greeted us, we were ready to order. My sister in law and I ordered the Pan Seared Diver Scallops- with a saffron lemon cream sauce. For sides I got polenta and she got spaetzle. I thought the scallops had a nice sear. The saffron lemon cream sauce was delicious. My wife ordered the Seafood Sampler(Oyster Rockefeller, Fried Scallops, BBQ Shrimp wrapped in bacon, Steamed Shrimp, and Fresh Fish Filet) my said she enjoyed her meal. I asked her what the fish filet was, she didn't know but it tasted good. My mother in law ordered the Captiva Salad(Mix baby greens, mandarin oranges, asparagus, artichoke hearts, smoked salmon, pan seared scallops, seared shrimp, and blue cheese) She always gets this dish every year. Tonight she said it's still her favorite. My father in law ordered the peel and eat shrimp. He gave me thumbs up needless to say the dish was good. Green Flash is always a stop for us while in Captiva. We shall return for sure. read more

This restaurant came recommended to us by our friends and it didn't disappoint. A very welcoming decor in the main dining area with nice views of the marina/inlet. The creative menu offers many seafood and meat lovers options to choose from. My wife and I try to get as much grouper as we can when in Florida and there are two unique dishes we ordered that were just delicious: Stuffed Grouper and their "Cafe De Paris" prepared Grouper. The AuGratin potato side dish went well with our entrees and house vegetable. As much as I like key lime pie, their sorbet version was nice but I wouldn't write home about it. Location... good location pretty view but everywhere on Captiva has a pretty view. Service....4 out of 10. very lack luster from the hostess to the waitstaff to the food runner. Food...6 out of 10. It was okay. the shrimp bisque was warm not hot. the escargot was delivered after the entrees. The veal was good not great. The whole place has a ton of work to do. they are lucky there are so few nearby options. We were there on a Monday off season and they were full but not crazy busy. no excuse. read more

Fantastic Pine Island Sound view. Johnny, our waiter, was very efficient and sweet. Our food was spectacular (Triple Tail with mango salsa and spaetzle and Swordfish entrees) Truly delicious and impressive! And that apple pie, almost a streudel, melts in your mouth, and makes you want more. A wonderful dining experience. We will return next time we are on Sancap- probably twice! read more

Food here is excellent. I ordered the grouper and my husband ordered the scallops. I ordered the Pina colada they won a 2026 award for. It was yummy. We also ordered the chocolate mousse dessert also. Service was great and we ate outside with a fantastic view. Anyone visiting Sanibel has to visit this restaurant. read more

Didn't stay their too long and only ate a couple of appetizers (mozzarella sticks and calamari) guy who waited on us was very nice but did take a long time for them to come to our table and bring us water. We had a chance to venture out to Captiva and remembered this spot from a visit some 15+ years ago. We dined at an odd hour late afternoon and they offer a very limited menu, a subset of their lunch and dinner. That was fine. We were promptly seated on their nice outdoor patio. Some diners arrive by boat. As others have mentioned service was a little slow, but adequate. Our waitress suggested the fried grouper sandwich, which was tasty, but our fries were cold and soggy. I did mention to our waitress who apologized and brought out a fresh batch. I also tried the bisque which was tasty enough, nothing exceptional. The Painkiller cocktail on the other hand was outstanding! The view here is more impressive than the food, but there are not many choices on Captiva. read more

Our group stopped in for lunch on a Saturday while boating around Captiva Island. We arrived around noon and there were still a few spots to tie up your boat. We navigated in and made our way up the dock. The restaurant is very pretty from the outside. It overlooks the water with lots of windows bringing in natural light and one of a kind views. We were seated right away for our party of 4. Not long after we arrived a Bachelorette party arrived on a tiki boat which I thought was so cool. By the looks of the restaurant, this is a go to spot for many. Our server mentioned some different cocktails and special menu options and I took her lead. I can't remember the name exactly, but I ordered almost like a pint colado but on the rocks with more of a pineapple taste. The drink was so good. It was tropical and refreshing. Just what I wanted on the warm day. My brother and I ordered the teriyaki chicken sandwich with pineapple. The chicken was delicious and cooked perfect while saying juicy. The sauce and sweetness of the pineapple made for a great combination of flavors. It was also topped with tomato, onion, and lettuce. We visited the green flash after a day at Bowman's Beach for an early dinner. Always great scenery limited seating though so we couldn't sit outside but great view from the inside. The staff was super friendly. Everyone greeted us. The food was pretty phenomenal as well. I got the grouper sandwich which is their signature sandwich and it didn't disappoint. Very flavorful for the fish. The kids food got eaten up. They loved it and the drinks were yummy as well. The shrimp quesadilla was phenomenal too. I've never had a shrimp quesadilla and my wife let me have a bite. She loved it and my bite was delicious as well. Would definitely recommend visiting this place. read more

Still one of my go to places on the island for some food & cocktails, even if it has become a lot more "touristy" over the years. We went around lunchtime after the beach and were able to grab a spot at the bar despite a long wait for tables. The sunny view is nice and their key lime dessert is still great :) read more

We dined here for the first time last night. We were asking ourselves why we haven't tried this place before. We made reservations on the "Open Table" app and arrived early. We had a table for 2 next to a beautiful window view of the marina. We ordered drinks and dinner. The fresh sourdough bread was hot and yummy. I had the halibut special which was pure heaven. Bringing wrong items 2 times and extremely long waiting for dessert should have skipped as it was meh, took longer for that than dinner. This was a great dinner spot. The sourdough was a delicious starter. My husband ordered the coconut shrimp, which were HUGE. There were a good amount too, making them very filling. Ahi Tuna appetizer perfectly seared and sauce adds the sweet, along with the fresh ginger altogether is so tasty. My Stuffed Grouper was full of crab meat and the Bernaise added a rich flavor. SOS had the Atlantic Salmon and loved it. Since was her first time to Florida, we had to have Key Lime Pie. The best flavor and presentation! Hawk tuah I pulled up to Green Flash on Captiva by boat with a group--feeling very Jimmy Buffett meets classy tourist--only to learn that apparently guests arriving from the water are invisible. We came here for our Anniversary dinner. Sat as near the water as possible. Started with a Green Flash Colada, their version of a Pina Colada, except with the additional of melon liquor. Very tasty and festive. Calamari to start. Very tender and quite a lot of it. I ordered the Coconut Shrimp and they were HUGE and super tasty with a sweet orange dipping sauce. Husband got blackened grouper with a butter herb sauce. Shared an apple crumble with ice cream and caramel for dessert (kind of ordinary and very little apple, don't think I would order this again). A wonderful experience, sitting by the water and enjoying the gorgeous weather and lots of fans to keep it cool and pleasant. Service was good even if he was a bit difficult to locate for water refills. Would recommend for your special occasion (not inexpensive for sure!). Wanted to do breakfast here but we didn't read the little sign by the road very well and thought they were open every day for breakfast, but alas, only weekends. read more

There was a large party absorbing much of servers time but you just can't have people wait that long - someone should've jumped in to help. Server was very friendly and apologetic but this is on the establishment - hire some help to at least handle refreshing water, bringing bread to the table and possibly helping with drinks. I had the steamed shrimp. Way over cooked, they were all tough. The service was the real problem. Waited almost 15 min for waitress to show up. Gave our drink and meal orders, got the food in a reasonable amount of time but never saw the waitress again until we were done. First time dining at The Green Flash! We sat outside, my friend and I had the crunchy grouper while my husband had the salmon. The food was spot on, absolutely delicious. There was a little faux pas with a couple of the meals but Michael (not sure if he was owner or manager) but he quickly rectified the situation above what was expected. The ambience was perfect, and food delicious. We live on FMB, so we will definitely be back to try dinner inside. I would give 5/5 read more

Server was marginal, the food was expensive and very average. The scallops in my cioppino type dish were not good. It was really 2&1/2 stars but couldn't rate it as such. We tried to order two bottles of wine that they didn't have which was just annoying. Get rid of the list! read more
