My family and I were celebrating the in-laws 55th wedding anniversary, at the Crows Nest Steakhouse. This is located at the Tween Waters Inn & Marina, on the second floor, above the Shipyard. As soon as you enter the restaurant you have an incredible view of the Gulf. There's not a bad seat in the entire restaurant. If you couldn't already tell this restaurant is a nautical theme, hence the name Crows Nest. With already mentioned view of the Gulf, it's truly a great place to dine. We checked in with the host for our 6 pm reservation. All of us were lead to our table and given menus and waters were poured. Our server Carlos came and greeted us. He also wished the in-laws a happy anniversary. Carlos went on and gave us a rundown of the restaurant and what was offered. This was our first time dining here, so we appreciated his detailed presentation. Top marks for Carlos for sure. He let us look over the menu for a little bit. He came back about 5 to 10 minutes later and we were ready to go. For drinks I ordered the Rum Old Fashioned (Brugal 1888, Honey Syrup, & Bohemian Bitters) a phenomenal cocktail that was excellently executed. My wife and sister in law ordered the Hemingway Daiquiri ( Bacardi, Maraschino Liqueur, Grapefruit Soda, Fresh Lime Juice, & Citrus Syrup) they said the drink taste delicious To start with my wife and sister in law decided to share the Lobster Bisque (Puréed cold-water lobster meat, celery, carrot and onion in a creamy lobster stock with saffron)Both didn't have words to articulate how great it was. They signaled to me 10 out of 10z For entrees my wife, father in law, and I ordered the 10 oz Prime NY Strip. My mother in law ordered a 6 oz Filet of beef. All of our steaks were order with a temp of medium. All of our steaks were served with (served with roasted garlic and parmesan smashed potatoes, onion rings, sautéed wild mushrooms, baby carrots, and asparagus) All of our steaks were a perfect medium temperature. The roasted garlic/parmesan smashed potatoes were other worldly delicious. The mushrooms, asparagus and carrots were perfectly cooked and didn't loose their bite. The onion rings had a wonderful crunch and were nice and hot. Honestly this was a flawless dish for me. My sister in law ordered the Lamb Chops at a medium temperature (Brushed with dijon and Herbes de Provence, oven-roasted and served with garlic parmesan smashed potatoes, baby carrots and asparagus with peach ginger demi) She gave this dish a five star rating. She NEVER liked Lamb Chops now this meal will serve as the measuring stick, if she ever orders Lamb Chops elsewhere. For dessert we shared a Crème brûlée. I was too full to have any of it but the family love the Crème brûlée . Carlos came back flutes of champagne for the in-laws to celebrate there an anniversary. The Crème brûlée had happy anniversary written on the plate. Awesome touch. All in all this was an outstanding experience. Carlos was absolutely fantastic. He made the experience a 10 start dinner. You first walk into The Shipyard, with an expansive bar and loud trivia. The bar (and bartenders) was a nice experience. Maybe if you like a lot of noise and playing trivia, that would have been your thing. Me? I was thankful when our names got called for our table up in the Crow's Nest. The view is beautiful up there, and from the time we were seated until the time we left, I felt so VIP and taken care of. Shrimp and crabmeat cocktail was perfect. Wedge salad was exactly what I wanted and more! Maybe it was simply the heirloom cherry tomatoes, but it was such a pretty, perfect salad (and im not even a salad girl!). My lamb was equally perfect, and while my husband fretted if the half order would be sufficient for me, I can testify that it was, and then some! The accompanying carrots, asparagus, and smashed potatoes were each deftly executed and delicious in their own right; not just an afterthought. Wine menu was deemed nicely done by my husband....he loved his steak and the overall experience. The nicest, most satisfying dinner we had while on Captiva. read more

I used to really like this restaurant, but this last visit was definitely a let down. It is very close to the beach and a good spot to see the sunset. We came thinking they would have pizza, but found out the pizza and restaurant menus rotate due to lack of staff. The mozzarella sticks were good and the sauce for that stands out as an excellent marinara.I had the shrimp and grits but they were bland and not very good. The shrimp were large but the dish overall was not very good. The restaurant smelled like chemicals and I ended up feeling sick by the end of the meal. While I do like the modern updates to the atmosphere, the food was not as good as before and I left pretty disappointed. read more

We were excited to try the Crow's Best Steakhouse as it was still under construction last time we were in Captiva Island. The restaurant is in a newly created space on the second floor of the restaurant building at Tween Waters Resort. This is a beautiful space with just 9-10 tables and a horseshoe shaped bar with seating around it. Beautiful big windows with views of the resorts private beach, the ocean and sunset. We sat at the bar and ordered dinner. The bartender is Cecilia and she was friendly, helpful and kind. The menu has quite a few items listed to choose from. We ordered French Onion soup($14), Prosciutto wrapped Prawns with Mac n cheese ($21), Filet Oscar is a Filet with lump crab meat on top with a Berenaise sauce with roasted potatoes and grilled vegetables ($68) and three glasses of wine ($15, $15 & $16). The French Onion soup was very tasty and I recommend it. The Prosciutto Wrapped Prawns were not my favorite...the prawns themselves were huge but the Prosciutto really took away the flavor of them. The Mac n cheese it is served on top of was quite bland tasting and not something I enjoyed. This dish needs some work. The Filet Oscar...the filet itself could use a bit more seasoning, but the lump crab meat with berenaise sauce was tasty. The roasted potatoes and grilled vegetables were also very tasty. read more

We had the lamb, pork, Caesar, mashed potatoes, mushrooms, purple gin, smoked old fashioned, between the sheets, espresso martini, carrot cake and cappuccino. We came here during our honeymoon and were very excited to check this place out as it opened after we were last on Captiva. Service: Our waitress was great. Caesar and Old Fashioned were done table side which added a bit of entertainment to the service. They put us at a table by the window. It was beautiful to look out at the water. Food: Porkchop and Lamb chops were juicy and good portions. Drinks were great. Potatoes were ok - kind of dry and nut well whipped. Mushrooms were too buttery and not well seasoned. Carrot cake was ok. Cold and dense. The cappuccino was extremely bitter - not properly pulled. Price Like most places on the island, it's a little overpriced. 300 dollars including tip. There's probably better value around but the view is spectacular. TL;DR Service excellent, fun to have table side salad and old fashioned. Food pretty ok. Value not great. View gorgeous. read more

Just opened, only 4 days old. Crows Nest is an up scale steak house, they have beautiful views overlooking the Gulf. One of the first restaurants to open after the hurricane on Sanibel Island. The place is small but elegant, definitely make a reservation. My wife and I both had the filet, both were delicious. I started with the French onion soup- also delicious. Decided we wanted to find a steakhouse with a view to watch the sunset. Overall our experience here was excellent. Our server Michael was very knowledgeable about Bourbon. He recommended the oxtail ravioli for appetizer. Amazing!!! (We used the sauce to dip the bread rolls). The smoked seafood appetizer was delicious. The steaks were cooked to order perfectly. My wife and I wanted to try this new place and, while we loved the atmosphere and service, the food, unfortunately, disappointed. My prime grade ribeye was delivered medium-rare as ordered but was lukewarm to the touch. I sent it back and got a(n almost) hot steak the second time. But it was dry (a dry ribeye?!?) and it was also not a great cut of meat. Chewy and, even you could say, tough. Ok for Longhorn but not a high-end steakhouse. A ribeye should be tender and juicy, and served sizzling right from the grill. My wife had lamb and was also underwhelmed. It wasn't bad and it wasn't good. We both expected more from a very expensive high-end steakhouse. I doubt we will be back. read more

Ambiance was great. Beautiful glass overlooking the gulf of Mexico. Gorgeous sunset. Service was poor. We had to tell the waiter of a peanut allergy, and he seemed put off by it. I would expect in a high end steakhouse to be asked about any allergies. Service was poor, barley acknowledged. We waited two hours for entrae. When it was brought out it was dropped quickly, pork belly was extremely tough. Filet mignon was a filet, but definitely no mignon. It was very tough. My son ordered bone in New York. He received a new York but no bone. The sides were cold compared to the steaks. Full bar could not make a drink off of the menu. The French onion soup was good, as well as the salad. What an experience!!! And fantastic upscale addition to the island! From the moment you walk in downstairs you are greeted with friendly faces of multiple employees and actually WELCOMED into their restaurant. We had a drink at the downstairs bar before our 6PM reservation and the bartender was attentive and made exceptional cocktails. Our dinner upstairs was phenomenal and made the sunset view on the gulf, seem like a minor detail in the evening. It was just amazing! We tried the French onion soup (a decadent sweeter brother with plenty of onions and melty cheese), the NY strip with a side of the mashers and a lobster tail, and the pork chop with Brussels and goat cheese mash. Everything was flavorful and cooked to perfection! Our service was second to none. So attentive and not a dirty dish on the table. Tried this restaurant in late Oct, as we stayed at Tween Waters. Abysmal food preparation. Strip steak was undercooked, crab legs not easy to remove from shell as we were told before ordering (and not corrected after two attempts to rectify), we were unable to add a few slices of tomatoes to our Ceasar salad (were told "no substitutions" or "no additions", even after asking manager as well). Are you kidding me???? Waiter was underqualified (first day on job?) and not able to resolve issues presented. Surprised that I left any tip at all. Just a bad experience all-around. A total waste of about $250.00 for trying this restaurant. Crow's Nest (if it is to continue as a restaurant for the prices it charges) needs to quickly learn from Old Captiva House restaurant next door. WE WILL NEVER return to Crow's Nest again! Buyer Beware! Even the bar tender downstairs ignored our request for water after we were ordered wine. A dysfunctional restaurant overall! They need a checkup from the neck up! read more

Took the drive out to the end of Captiva to support a local business who has rebuilt post Hurricane Ian. We were intrigued to check out the new upscale steakhouse on the island and with a birthday to celebrate, it looked like a great spot to hit the brief. The owners have done a wonderful job renovating both the ground floor which is a very nice casual bar area and the upstairs area which is the upscale steakhouse. The restaurant is decorated in navy blues, white and brass accents with lovely big windows overlooking the gulf. We went one evening so to catch sunset as part of the celebrations. It was lovely to see the beach again and watch the sun set. Good tip - there is a balcony/walkway off the restaurant. The manager Jennifer (who was excellent - warm & friendly) kindly came outside with us as the sun set & took a picture of the family which we appreciated. The food we had was very good overall but so it should be at the price point. We had the caeser salad and the smoked on the water appetizer. We then had various steaks + a couple of desserts. We ordered multiple sides to go with the steaks They are enough to share between 3-4 people. We didn't like the mushrooms - they had no flavor. Yes it's pricey but heck, we're on Captiva overlooking the Gulf. It's kind of Ocean Prime Naples level pricing and totally in keeping with the luxury location. The only negative was the service. Our server clearly wanted to serve us 'their way' and our requests for items for the table & the pacing was ignored. We had driven nearly an hour to get there as full time locals on the mainland. We wanted to get a drink first, nibble on some bread & peruse the menu whilst we unwound from the drive. We asked for bread 3 times to no avail. When we stated we would really like some bread to nibble on for the forth time, we were told firmly no bread until we ordered our food. We were kind of taken aback by that and did not appreciate the attitude from the server. Overall we would return again as a special occasion but we would ensure we had a different server on the next visit. read more
