We were visiting Captiva Island and decided to go to The Bubble Room for dessert. There's restaurant parking, which gets tight, but they do have an additional lot across the street. Note the hours - we came around 3pm and it was closed! They close between lunch and dinner and reopen at 4:30. There are a few other Bubble Room businesses on the block - an emporium (gift shop) an ice cream shop, so we were able to check these places out while we waited for the restaurant to open. They also have a few fun photo ops outside the restaurant, which gives you a good taste of what you'll find inside. In one word, I would describe The Bubble Room as kitschy. There's nothing extraordinary to see here that makes this place a "must visit" - no need to go out of your way. It's Christmas year-round here, which makes it whimsical. The staff were upbeat and engaging, and they were able to jazz up their uniforms to show their personality. When I visited the women's restroom, I thought it was chuckily that they had lots of male photos on the walls. I imagine the men's restroom returns the favor. The restaurant was filled with aromas of their freshly baked bubble bread and cinnamon rolls. Having just eaten lunch, we came here for dessert only, but the delicious smells made us wish we had room to eat another meal. The Bubble Room has a fun drink menu - many other diners were imbibing. They brought out a dessert tray showcasing the different cake slices and to give you an eye for size. As a chocolate lover, I was tempted to get a chocolate slice (and even the Tropical Breeze which was a yellow fruitcake type looked good), but my research on Yelp told me that the Buttercrunch cake is not to miss! Yelp did not steer me wrong ~ I enjoyed my Buttercrunch cake! If you like butterfingers, chocolate, ice cream, and an Oreo crust, this is the slice for you. The cake slices are huge - great for sharing, so no need to be selfish and order a whole slice for yourself (if you do, you'll probably have leftovers). While I enjoyed my slice, I feel like The Bubble Room relies on its kitsch and quantity rather than quality. I recommend taking the time to get out of your seat and exploring the different rooms to look at all of the decor. Knowing what the Bubble Room was all about, we took the liberty of walking around and looking at the different rooms, and there are several floors - but I wish staff encouraged us to do it. Maybe because we only came for dessert, we got an abridged experience. I'd call The Bubble Room a one-and-done tourist attraction that serves food, quirk, and cake.
What are random assortment of items! There is a toy train that travels around and a humongous Mickey. The Bubble Room is known for its cakes, but frankly, I wish we had also come here for or at least the flaming cheese. Parking is it designated for restaurant goers. It is close by the beach so they even have a tenant monitoring people to make sure they do not just park and leave. in their courtyard, they have a gem garden with some outdoor seating and a gorilla cage and some other funky aesthetics. great for if you have kids and want to have them fascinated. There's a Christmas theme for a lot of the tables, but there are also a lot of random assortment in the rooms. I ended up ordering the orange crunch, which is one of the most popular items and boy is that thing sweet. With cream cheese frosting and a lot of orange coloring it was good but definitely decadent and sweet. I would say a better balance cake was actually the butter crunch ice cream pie that was cut with ice cream to balance out the sweetness and the heat. I do like how they had sample slices for you to see the size that you are getting and also the type. They do not show the ice cream ones on the sample cake tray for some obvious reasons. I get why the orange crunch is really good. I definitely wish more of my table was more willing to help me eat it because it's definitely a lot for one person. Definitely do not sleep on exploring the other rooms and walking throughout. A lot of people were doing that and exploring the different rooms. Surprisingly, this place was a lot bigger than I was expecting.
Cute eccentric restaurant with fun Christmas/Hollywood decor! There Always seems to be a wait so we got there right at 430 and they were easily able to accommodate kids in car seats/high chairs. Service was amazing - fast with great suggestions.. portions are hugeeeee. Got amazing pineapple drink ( come in a pineapple) and bees knees. Great spot to visit while in town! Highly recommend
01 March 2026 We are a gang of 5 who decided to storm the Bubble Room on Captiva Island , Florida. Yeah , the place was well fortified and defended by Pirates. But we prevailed. The Pirates were over powered by our voluminous appetite, pleasant demeanor and good looks LOL. This place is amazing. Not so much in a good way but in an idiosyncratic manner. It's called the Bubble Room for a reason. But ya gotta see this place for yourself. Photos of deceased actors are on the walls ,odd nick nacks under our table covered by glass. You get the drift. Well dinner has arrived. My glorious turkey sandwich called the "Turk Douglas" after the famous actor Kirk Douglas. We were served by the Pirate named Ashley who was attentive and efficient despite being busy with other clientele. Everyone enjoyed their food and a good time was had by all. My sandwich was delicious and my root beer was great too. All in all this is a place to be seen if ever held captive by Pirates in Captiva Island.

This was my first visit to the Bubble Room, but my partner insisted that I had to try it, and now I completely understand why. We stopped in for lunch instead of dinner, and it turned out to be one of the best meals we had during our trip to Sanibel. We started with the crab cakes served with lobster sauced mango coleslaw, and jasmine rice. The flavors worked incredibly well together, with the sweetness of the mango and rice perfectly complementing the crab cakes and lobster sauce. For our entrées, we had the blackened grouper with yellow rice and black beans. Everything on the plate paired so well, and the grouper was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of seasoning. This took me back to other fantastic fish dishes in other islands like Hawaii, the keys, the Caribbean, etc... The piña colada was delicious and made the experience even more fun because it was served inside a real pineapple. It was refreshing and not too sweet, definitely something I would order again. We finished our meal with the key lime pie, which was the perfect ending. It was creamy, tart, and exactly what you hope for when ordering key lime pie in Florida. Before visiting, I noticed quite a few reviews mentioning long wait times. Thankfully, that wasn't our experience at all. We visited during lunch, so that may have made a difference, but we were seated quickly and received excellent service throughout our meal. Jenna was incredible, funny, and nice. Just about the entire staff has some whimsy about them. Telling us the history of the location and cracking jokes. I can honestly say I would probably drive the four hours to Sanibel just to eat at the Bubble Room again. Not because of the decorations or for the service, (these were great) but because the food left me craving more! The food, the atmosphere, and the overall experience made it well worth the trip. If you're visiting Sanibel and wondering if it's worth the hype, I would absolutely recommend giving it a try. Next time I'm going for dinner for sure!
We were really excited to see this place! The vibe outside is so cool and funky and inside was like a fever dream. Whimsical and weird. The drinks were decent, we had bloody Mary's, and the food was ok, we had a BLT and a Ruben sandwich. Just mid. And some chips w ketchup that were honestly the best part! The service was quick and our sever was nice. I think we just expected more from the food and drinks. Definitely an experience though!
Finally got to check out the bubble room on my recent visit to Sanibel Captiva. They just reopened a few months ago after the hit from Hurricane Ian in 2022. When we got there late afternoon, it was busy so we enjoyed some drinks at the bar while waiting for our table. The different rooms are decorated with different themes. They are interesting. We sat at a Christmas themed table and ordered 4 different desserts (keylime pie, rum cake was surprisingly good, tropical cake and orange cremcicle) to share. They were huge portion and all tasted great. The texture of the cake was moist and fluffy. I think i understand why people rave about their red velvet cake. I will definitely try it next time. The staff was friendly. You got to check out this local gem when you are on Sanibel Island.
a quirky, colorful spot that's famous for its ice cream, towering cakes, and over-the-top décor. I went with a scoop of cookie dough and Gator Trail ice cream, and my boyfriend ordered an affogato. I'm not exaggerating when I say this was some of the best ice cream I've ever had -- absolutely worth the 30-minute drive on the winding 35 mph roads to get there. The cakes on display were enormous and looked incredible, so if you're a dessert lover, this place is a must-visit when exploring the islands.

What fun! We had been 25 years ago and it was just as fun as we remembered. And the food and service are excellent! Usually in a themed place like that the food is mediocre but here it's super! The bubble bread and sticky buns are a great addition and come with the meals. The ambiance is so much fun...Christmas bubble lights everywhere. Even the chandeliers...and so much memorabilia that you could spend hours looking. Our grandchildren were enthralled!
I've been to the Bubble Room over 20 times but my previous review is for Boops, before it was named Boops. So let me give the restaurant its proper review. This is an iconic eclectic restaurant. All sorts of memorabilia from the 1920s-1940s are on the walls, ceilings and in the tables. Servers are well trained bubble scouts. Menu items are fun named and the food is delicious. If you come to Captiva Island, this is somewhere you need to eat. Desserts are huge and delicious. Gift shop is across the street.

First time going there, it was a wonderful experience. Very nice servers, very patient and explained the menu, me and my family were very satisfied with this place. It was kinda pricey, but worth the price. Food was freshly made and very delicious. Our server Anais was very helpful and gave wonderful service. Definitely worth the trip and money. Will be coming back. read more

Wow! Everything about this place was great! The food, the drinks, the ambiance - It was a great experience and I don't know why I haven't been here before. A couple things to know - go with an appetite, and make sure you get desert! I had the filet mignon with Risotto and the Red Velvet. The husband had the Prime Rib and cheese cake. read more

Visited trying to relive a childhood memory from the Maitland location, but this will be a one and done. Food was not it. Mediocre and pricey, 100% paying for the atmosphere which is fun but not worth the drive out there. Tiny flying bugs were really off putting. Flaming cheese was a highlight, but the bread it was served with was so stale and not edible. Servers were nice enough but didn't appreciate a large party being sat on either side of us with us in the actual middle of them. Overall not the birthday dinner I was hoping for, but glad I can finally stop wondering! read more

The Bubble Room is a nostalgic and historical location on Captiva. The experience is unique and the food is good. Today I ordered the blackened grouper (smoke in your eyes) which is served with yellow rice with small pieces of pineapple which has a fantastic "island" flavor. It also comes with black beans. The grouper was great as well!! THE bubble room is a must if you are visiting the area. read more

I'm not sure why it took me so many years to try this place. We went this time on our recent trip. We waited outside and got in when they opened for dinner. What a colorful, clean and delightful restaurant. I've never seen so many decorations be so artistic and well coordinated. The bathrooms are worth visiting too. Everything ordered at our table was excellent. The service was very good and the only negative is that I didn't go there years ago. read more

The atmosphere was unlike anything I've ever seen. It was themed with a lot of cool old toys and just other stuff from the "golden age of Hollywood. The menu was themed very fun as well with the food all having cool and creative names. The food itself was amazing, I personally got shrimp, steak and scallops and it was amazing. All of the meals come with "sticky buns"(cinnamon rolls) and "bubble bread" (really cheesy bread) . The service was also very good and fun. The waiters and waitresses were all wearing very fun hats and very committed to the atmosphere of the place. A little high priced but worth it for the food quality. Would recommend. read more

The bubble room, what an amazing place. The food at first seemed a bit pricey, but once my bubble bread and sticky bun came out I was delighted and instantly was pleased with the price of my entree. I had some great grouper and I even saw the Christmas room. 3 stories for a restaurant in crazy. Having a bubble scout seemed like a bit too much but I enjoyed the experience. Great service read more

Amazed at how well progress has been made here since the hurricane almost 3 years ago. So worth the trip of season that is.. The atmosphere alone is worth the trip, it will blow your mind. The service is adorable with their "bubble Scouts "giving you some history of the building and the number of floors to view once your meal is done.. so beautiful so nostalgic so fun a trip back in time. I had the McTirk ( named after Kirk Douglas and Steve, McQueen), a delicious turkey, provolone, bacon, pepper, jelly, basil, mayo, deliciousness wrap. Holy heck, it was so good!! Head on the road early so you're here right when they open up.. the traffic getting on the island can be overwhelmingly, slow, and even standing still. read more

This place was amazing. Great for kids and grown kids. Very eclectic - so much to see and look at - collection of collectibles and memorabilia stuffed in every inch of available space. Food was very good too which surprised us. As a free appetizer they provided excellent bread and sticky buns. Do not eat this or you will not finish your dinner! I loved my shrimp in garlic buttered sauce but couldn't finish it because of the bread and sticky bun! lol. I tried to eat my she crab soup but same problem. It was very good though. My guests enjoyed their meals but paced themselves with the bread. Outstanding service! This is a must visit !!! read more

Parking is tough...like anywhere in fort myers...always budget in 30 minutes to park and 44-60 minutes to wait for food...this place is a little better in that it is a drive down the island chains to Captiva...most don't have the patience to drive and the people on the island are sparse compared to FM, but less places to eat as well...anyway...onto good stuff: The staff- amazing...the Bubble Scouts...super enthusiastic and unique...think TGIFs but with scout uniforms (they'll tell u why)...friendly and kind despite the tourists they deal with all day... Food...unique...not big portions or the selection of FM but every dish has a fun spin...we had the flaming cheese and garlic shrimps...they light the cheese on fire at the table...OPA! The dessert is why you came there! BEST CAKE IN THE STATE! No seriously, legit could come here and just have cake for dinner...orange crunch cake is a must but the tropical island cake is delicious as well and was our family's fav overall... Do NOT think this is Christmas themed...they have Christmas rooms and bubble lights all Over but I'm seeing some reviews that think it's Christmas in July...it's a fun south Florida pastel vibe with great desserts and be sure to time it up with a drive back to catch the sunset on captiva after! read more
This quirky, always-Christmas restaurant is always fun to go to. I've eaten here every time I've visited nearby Sanibel since I was a kid. I took my own child recently for the first time, and he enjoyed it as well. The service is good, with friendly servers dressed in various degrees of quirkiness. The food is tasty. The toast and cinnamon rolls that come out before can't be healthy, but sure are yummy. We had the she-crab soup, the crab cakes, and the Mahi Brando. The soup was a little salty but tasted great. The crab cakes and Mahi Brando were a hit. read more

The service and ambiance are unique and fun. This place is definitely a hit in the area and busy, but our food came out quickly. I ordered the veggie pita, which was ok but lacked filling. My husband ordered the burger, which has the bubble sauce on it. That was delicious and filling. The kids meals are large as well. read more

A must see when visiting Captiva island ! My sister and I ordered the French onion soup as an appetizer and it's amazing. We enjoyed our salads then we ordered the Orange crunch cake , white Christmas & the rum cake . You can't go wrong with any of them! Our server was so friendly and welcoming. What makes this spot so special is the way it's decorated! It's Christmas everyday here! Five out of five stars ! We will be back ! read more

The restaurant had great atmosphere. Lots of black-and-white photographs of movie stars. Christmas decorations everywhere. Interesting shadowbox arrangement at each table. Our waitress was a lot of fun! Fun custom-made cocktails. Excellent she crab soup! Good quality seafood, and entrées. My wife enjoyed the crabcakes, although they seemed a little small. Desserts were creative!! Be sure to save room. One criticism, a $25 bacon cheeseburger?! read more

We loved this place!!! Its was so funky and cool. There was so much to look at I didn't know where to look next. The food was great too and the BUBBLE SCOUTS, how cute. All the waiter are dressed up in Boy Scout uniforms. It such a fun place to go. The service was excellent and the food was great!! My wife and I stopped in for lunch Friday (today) and I've got to tell you, in all my years in this business, in all our travels, we've never enjoyed ourselves like we did today. We've lived here three different times, and we've never been to the Bubble Room Restaurant. Service was great! Jessica connected as soon as I entered, even though she was swarmed by people trying to get sat. Robert was our server, and he was great with all his tables. We watched him present the dessert tray to every table and we ended up going home with three pieces ourselves. The music is what I play in my own living room, classic jazz. The decor is very eclectic, with lots of old Hollywood nostalgia, and Christmas, everywhere, everyday! The servers are in Boy Scouts of America uniforms with crazy patches and neckerchiefs. The Bubbly Mary was very good, followed by two drafts. We got the She Crab Soup and the tuna app, both were delicious!!! The soup was perfectly balanced, creamy, but not thick, with the perfect amount of sherry. We followed that with the crab cakes and the muffuletta. I've had muffulettas in NOLA, this is as good, even though it's a unique take. The crab cakes are amongst the best I've ever had. Very well done. The Bubble Room was amazing! The rooms are almost overwhelming--in the best way. There are so many unique details everywhere, and it instantly took me back to my childhood. The drinks were incredible too--the Pink Flamingo was so good, I honestly wanted to go back for another one before we left the island. The food was absolutely amazing. We ordered a ton (no regrets), then stopped next door at the ice cream shop and brought cake back to our room--because of course we did. We had their famous orange cake and key lime pie, and both were phenomenal. Everything was delicious, and the service was fantastic from start to finish. read more

Is there outside seating? I remember years ago there was one table in front but I cannot remember if there were any others.
Yes there are a few outside picnic tables. They were being used by some people who were waiting for inside service or carryout. Cant say there were more than three to my recollection! Was there the first week in September.
Can I make a reservation? It will be my birthday on the 21st and I would love to have dinner there
Last time I was there it was first come first serve, but it was lunch.
