I am giving RC Otters five starts because it has been a solid place to visit in Captiva for decades, and it also served me the most amazing end of vacation Bloody Mary ever just two weeks ago. Island eats are meant to be enjoyed on island time - without a rush, in good company, and in the sun. I've been coming to RC Otters since I was a little kid and rented the house down Andy Rosse lane by Mucky Duck. It used to be one of our treats to eat there for breakfast instead of at our house during our summer vacations. This past visit - we missed the breakfast cut off and had lunch there. I opted for the grouper sandwich. Something about a fish sandwich on an island is just luxury to me. They offer it grilled, blackened, bronzed, or fried. Bronzed sounded intriguing to me which is a mix of savory with a hint of sweet. Wow. It was awesome. I also ordered a bloody mary which was delicious. My sister in law got the ribs and loved them. Everyone else got the fish sandwich. Service is so friendly, and they usually have live music going on. A great, affordable place to enjoy a meal. They also have a lot in front for parking, but it's very walkable if you're staying in a house nearby or even the south seas resort. read more

RC Otters fits right in with the adorable and small central road of Captiva where all the eats & businesses are. With its multi-colorful exterior it makes you feel in vacation mode just looking at it. They have an equal amount of indoor an outdoor seating, and we opted for outdoor when we came for breakfast. RC Otters is open the earliest of the few restaurants on Captiva, aside from Starbucks if you count that. All of the standard breakfast offerings were on the menu, plus a special of theirs is a breakfast sandwich that's an omelette wedged between two pieces of french toast. Kind of fun. The food was good, nothing stellar but it was decent. It was altogether an enjoyable morning with the colorful setting. They are open all day for other meals so can't speak to how the lunch or dinner food is, but we enjoyed the breakfast. read more

Staying on Captiva, didn't want to wait for a table, so we ordered food for 6 to go. We went in to order, and came back an hour later to retrieve the meals. My husband and I both had grouper fingers and were happy with them. Not the best ever, but still good. Fries didn't float my boat, but my spouse liked them fine. My mom ordered fried shrimp and it was left in the oil so long it was dark, dark brown. It was gross. Unfortunately, that wasn't seen til we were at the house. Everyone else seemed content with their meals. We'd probably (ok maybe) eat there or get food to go from there again. read more

I enjoyed the fried shrimp basket and draft Kona wave beer pairing. I thought that the cocktail sauce could have used more horseradish...a little bit too mild. After a day on captiva cruises we didn't have to wander far to find this place. Beautiful day and very happy to sit outside. Besides the sun there was live music with a very friendly artist as well. Server was great and the kitchen staff helped entertain our kids with the giant lizards they caught out back and showed us! Really neat. The food was pretty good, the only criticism would be higher prices for some of the dishes. Mainly my shrimp pasta was just alright. Also one of my drinks was a little funky (Bloody Mary that had a coco rum flavor in it) . The fish tacos were a raving hit though! Great flavor and really stood alone; catch of the day is probably the best go to. I would recommend trying this place out and especially looks like the breakfast dishes are a big hit so might have to try that as well. read more

This is a true dive bar- good music is always playing, live, bar food which is decent, and super chill vibe.

Enjoyed the live music from the older couple and the relaxed vibe. However Food was meh. Started with Appetizer: spinach artichoke dip - cold. So hungry I tried to get through it but it was not palatable. Grouper finger basket - cold. There was a theme... Crab cakes - daughter enjoyed Burger - decent I liked the crunchy fish - not enthused about farm raised fish but it tasted decent. Service was relatively slow but was told to expect that. read more

Went for morning coffee/ breakfast items. Food was ok, but server was very rude. Server assumed check went to one person & brought it out that way. Asked for a split check & she got very irritated & said nobody told her that. You never asked! Maybe the server was having a bad day. We always go to RC Otters every time we vacation here. But this was not good at all. Ordered a burger to go, when ordering I asked them for the burger to be well done, no pink. Went and picked it up brought it back and it was still raw in the center. Not even close to a medium/medium well, let alone a well done burger. read more

We've enjoyed RC Otters for years and this was our first visit back post-Ian + Milton. My fish sandwich was great. Fish so fresh you would've never been able to guess it was fish. This was a pleasant and tasty find. We did come when there were a lot of big parties, so we had to wait quite a bit for a table. However, the busser/hostess/server extrordinaire in the orange shirt on 12/26 was doing the most! She didn't forget about us and got us seated. My parents and I came here before I left Florida. What a cute spot on Captiva Island. We arrived early, so it wasn't busy. As the night went on, the restaurant started filling up. They have live music on Sunday nights, maybe each weekend night. My parents and I split the seafood fajitas which was more than enough for 3 people. The seafood was a combination of shrimp, scallops and fresh fish, which was all very delicious. They give you 3 fresh tortillas to start with, but will give you more if needed. If you find yourself on captiva island and are looking for something good to eat, I'd definitely recommend coming to RC Otters! read more

I came here with a group of girls for dinner on a Friday around 7:30pm and we were seated immediately. It was relatively empty with some people outside mostly! They have many tables for groups which is nice. This is a super beachy restaurant with bright colors which sets the vaca vibe. Our server was very friendly, too, along with the bussers! Very attentive and personable. They have classic cocktails like rum runners and pina coladas, but our server informed us it's made with wine coolers and not actual liquor. I ordered the lobster bisque and it was okay - it tasted different than other lobster bisques I've had and there was barely chunks of lobster in it. I wouldn't order it again but instead try something else. We had two orders of the crab cakes and they were nothing crazy, but the coleslaw with it was really good. The spinach artichoke dip was pretty good, and so were the fries. The veggie fajitas were pretty bland based off what my friend said about her meal. I'd come here for some appetizers try other food options, and sit outside and listen to some love music! read more

We had a fantastic lunch here. I braced myself for mediocre service based on some recent Yelp reviews but either we got lucky or their service has improved substantially. First of all we stayed at the Captiva island inn. RC otters was one of the restaurants included in our breakfast package from the inn. Breakfast wasn't served until 8 o'clock and we went there three mornings in a row for breakfast. We had several servers while we were there and they all seem to be bright cheery and ready to please. On the first day I had crabby Benny's. This is a version of eggs Benedict with a crab cake on top of an English muffin with a poached egg and hollandaise sauce. I would say that it was edible but it wasn't anything special. The crabcake was soggy and had very little bit of a crab flavor. My guest had " Eggs on a roll ". The bread was fresh kind of like a kaiser roll the egg portion was generous. Quite fine. On the second day I had the blueberry pancakes with a side of sausage. This was wonderful, fresh blueberries and buttermilk pancakes that were perfectly done and delicious. My guest had an Omlet made with three eggs and whatever toppings she wanted and she said it was delicious. All of the breakfasts are served with fried potatoes and fruit on the plate. One of our guests was gluten-free and they had several options for her to eat. This place is set in the center of the town on captiva and it seems to be a very busy center. RC otters was clearly one of the nicer places to sit and have breakfast, we had outdoor seating and the weather was perfect and we were comfortable and relaxed. Not a bad place to find if you're in town. Oh and don't forget they have music during the afternoon and you can sit and enjoy a beer or your favorite beverage and listen to someone play the guitar and sing we really enjoyed this. YES THEY ARE OPEN!! One of the few Captiva restaurants that are open now even a year after hurricane Ian. It's good! I went for lunch today with plans to have the crunchy fish Reuben sandwich. Plans changed because fresh grouper was the catch of the day. For an up charge I had a grilled grouper Reuben. It was an excellent sandwich, perfectly cooked fish, sweet coleslaw and melty Swiss cheese. Yum! It was served with chips and a pickle. The ambiance is nice, cute and colorful. Silverware was wrapped in plastic and the tables held paper towels instead of napkins. The server was good and attentive. The food arrived quickly and was very hot and fresh. read more

The "tropical coleslaw" is just great; the mixed vegetables are NOT the tasteless vegetable medley you have learned to avoid. The crab cakes are light and also wonderful. This is such a cute fun restaurant with delicious food! We found it when looking for another place that was wiped out by hurricanes. Food was creative with a Jamaican twist & yummy.
