Amazing food and service. There have been some changes since we were there before hurricane Ian . The restaurant is definitely more casual and that comes with a few things that are not great - the staff are wearing very casual clothing, some have shirts that were stained and frankly dirty, the women's bathroom has a male mannequin that is really disturbing. That being said, the food was spectacular, our server Mili was amazing and as always the view was fantastic! Hopefully on our next visit, things will have improved. read more

The Green Flash is located on Captiva Island and has been a great lunch spot for our family for many years. We have not been here in a few years as we tried to go to new places, but we decided to add it back to our list when we visit. We come every year, and this will for sure be added back to our yearly list. The views alone are fantastic, especially on a sunny beautiful day! We usually go for lunch but this year we went for dinner. It was still fairly early so we could still see the beautiful view however, it was a cloudy day. They have a parking lot which is small and can get really crowded. They also are located on the second floor so you can use the stairs and ramp or head to the back and take the elevator. There is a bar right inside when you first go in and can just visit to sit at the bar. We did not have to wait for table and was seated very quickly. Our server was very nice and polite, she did not overly bother us and recommended her favorite items to us. My husband and I ordered cocktails, I had an espresso martini which was really great. It was more on the creamy side. MY husband ordered a Manhattan which he also really enjoyed. They also start by bringing you warm sourdough bread and butter. I love any meal that starts with bread! For entrees, my sister and I ordered the stuffed shrimp. It comes with vegetables and a choice of your side. She chose the spätzle, and I chose the rice. I did not really care for the rice; it was more on the bland side. She loved the spätzle, although I did not try it this time. The stuffed shrimp were good. It actually had so much crab stuffing it overtook the shrimp. I think there was more stuffing than shrimp. My husband decided to pick a non-seafood dish and went for the pork tenderloin wellington. It looked fantastic and was really delicious. It came with vegetables and choice of side; he ordered double vegetables. My mom ordered a salad, but this was not a regular salad. It had salmon, shrimp, capers, lots of veggies and more. It was a great value and actually really good. They give you a ton of lettuce, more than you need actually. My dad ordered peel-and-eat shrimp which were also a great value since it was a huge portion. They were very tasty, something he would order again. We also had some starters. I ordered their shrimp bisque. They used to have a lobster bisque that was so delicious, I could eat barrels of it. They have changed to a shrimp bisque. It was really good, I will always order this, but I still think the lobster bisque is better. If your listening Green Flash, bring back the lobster bisque! My mom wanted an oyster Romanoff, which was an oyster topped with sour cream and caviar. She only ordered 1 since they were a little pricy and sold by the piece. If you visit, you have to make a trip to the bathroom. I know it sounds weird. But their bathrooms are weird and unique. The men's bathroom (I sent my husband in to check it out) has a one-way mirror. As they are using the bathroom, they can look out onto the bar! WHAT! It's so funny to me. The bar only sees a mirror and have no idea that the bathroom is staring at them! The women's bathroom has a mannequin when you walk in. It literally startles me every single time. I have no idea the story behind this, but it makes our family smile and laugh every single time! All in all, this is a great place. Its unfortunately not my absolute favorite on the island but it is for sure in the top. We have rediscovered how much we enjoy it and are going to headed back each year we are visiting the island. Service was tough. Waiter had tables outside and inside and we got the shaft. No fault of his own, he just couldn't manage it all. So, service was suboptimal. Secondly the food sucked. Period. Grouper was dry and a bit fishy. It was also cold. I had scallops and honestly only ate 1/2 of one but ate the potatoes. We won't be back. read more

All I can say is the ambience is outstanding. Miguel in the kitchen is amazing. The artichokes appetizer with Parmesan cheese was delicious and the chopped grilled chicken with Caesar was amazing. The bread is out of this world sourdough. I highly recommend it and Daisy. The server was amazing. My drink was a painkiller, and it was totally unbelievably delicious and amazing. Recently my wife and family when to the Green Flash Waterfront Restaurant, located on Captiva Island. This is one of the more unique restaurants. Situated on the waters of Roosevelt Channel, the Green Flash overlooks the Intracoastal Waterway, the waters of Pine Island Sound, and Buck Key. The Green Flash can be navigated by boat and is located southwest of Marker 38 on the Intracoastal Waterway. Once we checked in with the hostess, we were taken to our seats immediately. The entire dining room overlooks the Intracoastal waterway. It's such a beautiful sight while dining. When our server came and greeted us, we were ready to order. I ordered the Pork Tenderloin Wellington( Filet of pork wrapped in prosciutto ham, leaf spinach and puff pastry) This was absolutely delicious. The pork was succulent and with the addition of the prosciutto... just tremendous, the pastry was perfect brown, loved the leaf spinach. For a drink I ordered a Buffalo Trace Manhattan, which was simply perfect*My wife and Sister-in-law ordered the Stuffed Shrimp (with crabmeat & garlic herb butter) for sides my wife got seasonal vegetables and rice, my sister-in-law ordered homemade spatzil and seasonal vegetables. They both said they loved this meal. The shrimp had lots of stuffed crabmeat, and the garlic herb butter tied everything together. For drinks my wife ordered an Expresso Martini. She gave it 10 out of 10*My father in-law ordered the steamed peel n eat shrimp, for sides he got seasonal vegetables and spatzil. He loves a good peel and eat. He said the spatzil was perfect* My mother-in-law ordered the Captiva Salad (Mix Greens, asparagus, artichoke hearts, Gorgonzola Cheese, smoked salmon, pan seared scallops and shrimp) She said it was a wonderful salad. The location can't be beat! Beautiful waterfront view as well as outdoor tables. There's a small bar and an upstairs for groups. Our server was average. She kept our drinks refilled, but wasn't overly friendly. My fish tacos were good. The tortilla chips were thin and salty. The salsa was runny, overly tomato tasting with some kick. This was my first time trying the Green Flash, and it was ok. The view is gorgeous and the restaurant itself is super pretty and beautifully decorated inside. The outdoor seating is a little uncomfortable, just plastic lawn chairs. The hostesses were a little strange, and the seating situation was strange as well- we wanted to be seated outside, but I needed to climb the stairs to put our name in, only to go down the stairs again. Then our waitress was assigned to our table, but the rest of her tables were inside and up the stairs. So the poor girl had to run up and down the stairs for just us, which explains why we didn't see her much (not her fault). There was a guy who was handling the rest of the outdoor seats, so I don't know why they didn't just give him our table. Especially since he was more friendly than our server (he caught me taking selfies of me and mom, and offered to take a photo of us.) I don't blame her for not being not that friendly; she was fine and efficient. The food was good, I got a special of piccata for some fish I never heard of before but was pretty good. My motorcycle group went to The Green Flash for lunch today. We had 9 people and arrived when they opened at 11am. They gave us great service and great food for our fairly large group. Everyone enjoyed their food. I had the BBQ shrimp, others had the fish tacos, chicken sandwich, etc. Everything was great. By the time we were leaving at 12:30 the place was filling up. This is my second time here. This is not my favorite place in the Sanibel -captiva area. I find the options pretty average and not that interesting. I ended up ordering soup and salad for dinner because of this. The salad was huge for a dinner salad. Couldn't finish it. I like that it's on the water but a reminder that if you go for dinner, when it's dark, you really can't see the view. It's also pretty loud in there if there are big groups. Our group of 9 had a hard time hearing. It's a solid choice but not my favorite. read more

We went to Green Flash for lunch while vacationing in Captiva the week of Mother's Day. I can't believe there are so many negative reviews because we had excellent service. The hostess was very nice and patient as we first went outside then changed our minds to go inside. I'm happy we went inside because the view is amazing. Our server, Gia was charming, efficient and adorable. I can't say enough about how wonderful she was. The food was average. The escargot was very good, but the sourdough bread served with it was the best part! We will definitely go back for the view, excellent service and the sourdough! read more

we took a drive to Captiva and found this restaurant and greatly enjoyed our lunch there earlier this week. We sat outside overlooking the harbor and boats docking with was a very pleasant setting. I started my meal with a beer and a corn chowder soup that was fabulous. I would have ordered a pint to take home if we weren't traveling. Also had a grouper sandwich and salad which was also fabulous. The full staff and our waiter especially was excellent as well. We had low expectations with a 3 star average on Yelp and we were very pleasantly surprised!!! Would definitely recommend the seafood sampler meal and the calamari appetizer. Mrs. K. had relatives visit us. We visited Sanibel and Captiva Islands. The Green Flash is a popular place to dine and watch the sunset hoping for "the green flash" at sunset. We had a table outside and the setting was very pleasant. One word this place is very unique and should be enjoyed for it's quirkiness. An example was there was a mannequin of a man in the woman's bathroom. A great conversation point among all users of the bathroom. One of the guests was an adventuresome eater. I really enjoyed her company and it was fun ordering different things for her and I. For starters we had a dozen oysters on the half shell. I believe they were blue point and everyone was full size. She sure enjoyed the oysters as I did. Next on the menu was escargot. She did not hesitate to give them a try and seemed to enjoy them. I had as a main course Veal Zurich medallions of veal in a awesome sauce. A wonderful dish. Mrs. K. had a shrimp cocktail for her main. The shrimp sure looked fresh and had a beautiful pink color. Our guest had the scallops. The scallops were huge and looked great. We ordered one key lime pie with three forks. I don't want to over sell this but they make it very different. It has almost a sherbet consistency. They offer a Conch chowder Manhattan style which is tomato based. I will be back because this is my most favorite style of soup. read more

3 things about this place: 1. Drove to Captiva and this place caught my eye and decided to try this place. From the outside, the place looked amazing and inside looked even better. 2. Conch Chowder, Rockefeller Oysters, raw oysters, and Steamed Seafood were ordered. Raw oysters came out cold and fresh, Rockefeller Oysters came out hot, Steamed Seafood had good amount of seafood and the quality of all the foods were fantastic. 3. However, the Conch Chowder was a little disappointing. I was expecting something creamy like clam or corn chowder but felt like I was eating tomato soup with minced conch inside. It literally tasted like tomato soup. Overall, the view was perfect and the food was good minus the chowder; I recommend to people that are looking for a great time in Captiva and do not know which place to eat since there are so many restaurants to choose from. read more
