Our local Farmer's Market (it's a permanent storefront in Manor) is owned by the same nice man, Joe. His Mexican restaurant focuses on the ingredients, so you will pay more for a taco than, say, Taco Bell - but you're getting Niman Ranch steak instead of mystery meat. My favorites: 1) the Chef Salad (has a bunch of berries) with succulent addition of carne asada......so good. 2) when I'm being bad, I get the carne asada nachos. Sinful! 3) The fajita burrito is awesome, with any of the meats, my latest fave is the chipotle chicken. It's pulled chicken in a red sauce. Delicious! 4) Pastel Azteca - this is a vegetarian, Mexican "lasagna". I used to only get this dish (it's very tasty), but I've forced myself to move onto other areas of the menu (hence the dishes above). When I want some comfort, I get the Pastel Azteca. The restaurant is small, but it's perfect for take out (try their whole rotisserie chickens when they're all sold out at the Farmer's Market!). We order ahead and come pick it up 15 minutes later. I've been pretty disappointed the past several times I've eaten there because the food just doesn't taste as fresh and delicious as it used to. The salsa is bland. The tomatoes are white. The guacamole is thin. The tortillas are stale. The servings seem smaller. This place is new, so I expected some hiccups. As others here noted, the menu thing was annoying ... but seriously, all I had to do was ask one of the nice people behind the counter and voila! - menu in hand. Not that hard. Most important to me was that the food was really good. This is really important in Pacifica. We have very little good food. Everyone should be thanking these people for opening a business in Pacifica. I'm willing to deal with a few annoyances just to get some good food within a 5 mile radius of my house. Anyway, my husband and I got take out on Christmas eve before heading to the airport. We were surprised at how busy it was on a holiday! We had enchiladas and tacos and a few sides, and we loved it all. The sauces were flavorful and they didn't skimp like at El Gran Amigo. This place is great! No indoor eating right now but cute little booths outside. If you like a lot of spice, ask for spicy because their default is kind of mild. I love the grilled veggie quesadilla and the enchiladas. Neither the green sauce nor the red sauce is all that spicy. Their aguas frescas are amazing. I love them all. I was really hoping this place would be good, since I just moved here and Pacifica doesn't seem Vegetarian friendly. For $10 I got a veggie tamale plate, that came with two "tamales" rice, beans and vegetables. After waiting over 10 minutes for a to go order, I get home to discover some bad news.. So first, the vegetables were rubbery green beans, I didn't even try to eat them. The tamales had no flavor and were not wrapped in husks but some kind of green leaf that left a tart flavor. The beans had no seasoning or salt. The rice had peas in it (not common) and was a little crunchy = not cooked. Their horchata was VERY grainy, and tasted like water. I would say I would try it again considering its healthier mexican food. But lets face it, really good mexican food just wasn't mean't for that. I come to this place on occasion and LOVE their shrimp burritos. The thing about me is when I go out to eat, I hope my food will be just as good as my service, and the service here was far from that. The girl working at the register looked like she did not want to be there, but it was more obvious judging by her attitude. She looked so bored and so annoyed that I was even placing an order. It made me loose my appetite a bit because her attitude was so disgusting. I do not mean to be mean or rude about this review, but this is how the cashier really was, and it blows my mind anyone would even let her work there, I'm just glad she didn't make my food, because I'm sure it would have tasted like her mood. Luckily the cooks here do a fabulous job, I just wish the cashier could at least fake it. 2 stars for food, I would normally give it more, but that girl left a really bad impression, and if I ever go back I hope she isn't working, or else I'll go somewhere else. read more

If you can actually get what you ordered, rather than drive off and half of the time have items wrong, then portions and flavors are actually quite good. Just make sure you've checked your food if you're ordering to go. I keep wanting to give a higher rating, but this happened again today. Like so many locals I was very excited about this place opening as we really needed a good Mexican place up in our part of town. Although I buy organic whenever I can get (and afford) it, I began to worry when I heard words like "gourmet" being mentioned. I had hoped for a place that was inexpensive with healthy alternatives that cranked out tons of great Mexican food for the long lines of hungry people waiting . . . and "organic" was the icing on the cake. Maybe it isn't possible to have organic ingredients without having to take out a loan to pay for them. I will revise my review if I find that is the case. I have always had a problem with places that are unaffordable to many people (especially with kids) who are simply looking to stop by for a reasonably priced, delicious and affordable bite to eat. The physical space is difficult, so narrow you have to literally squeeze past people waiting for their food to get to the counter so you can order. There are some spaces to eat at the window up front, but most of the tiny tables are along this long, very narrow space. I enjoy people but it is sometimes uncomfortable to eat with them standing practically on top of you. But that problem is easily solved - I take mine to go and then find a nice place in our beautiful city to enjoy it. The food IS fresh, and usually tastes great but I still think that paying just cents under $10 for a burrito (regular Vegi Veg-Out Burrito) to be too much. The breakfast burrito I got once was delicious, but then, most things that are absolutely dripping with fat do taste really good. I have found the staff cooking to be very friendly. I have continued going to this restaurant and have added a star . . . I think things have improved a great deal and even though it is a little expensive, the food is outstanding. So anyway Green Enchilada, I am glad you are here. I am still waiting though for a truly great place to come to northern Pacifica. read more

"Don't Panic It's Organic" - is written on the front of this place, well you may need to panic, because half the ingredients are NOT organic!!! Good try but you've missed the mark. This place is not completely organic. The staff does not know what they are serving. The cook takes forever. I truly believe that they mean well, however if the corn and half of the products used are not organic that means that I am eating pesticides and possible GMO cross contaminated foods. This is not the place for people who have real health concerns and food allergies. If you want ALL organic food, steer clear. read more

My big complaint about the green enchilada is that they not only didn't listen to me that I could not eat a burrito with sour cream or cheese as well as I did not want a super burrito. They still created a burrito I had to throw away because it was filled with sour cream! Before I paid I said wow over $14.00 for a burrito, I did not want a super burrito, in which she replied I did not get a super burrito and the extra $$$ is for adding veggies. So I sucked it up and paid. The only thing they got right was no rice, which only meant their was less burrito to throw away! When someone says they can't eat dairy, including sour cream and cheese they really can't eat dairy!!!! Usually I would forgive for a mistake but since I double checked before I left I won't, and I will never go back. Besides I am an idiot for paying almost for 15 dollars for a burrito in the first place. Green Enchilada is a great spot. Organic mexican goodies for a fair price with belly filling portions. The enchilada's are yummy, as would be expected from their namesake. I moved from LA, I'm Mexican, and despite all the trash talk my fellow Angelenos had to say about NorCal Mexican, I brushed it off. Sad to say point one goes to the trash talkers tonight. Any Mexican place can be easily judged by their rice and this rice had NO TASTE. Nothing, i just pushed it off to the side. Second judgement is by salsa. Good texture, nice look, but no heat and was served freezing cold. I had to add Cholula to it :( Chips were the best part. How sad is that? I'm sure crap Mexican is tasty here, like a quesadilla or nachos but I wanted good tacos and rice. Beans were a little warm and no salt. Meat was okay but not heated. I saw CHICKEN BAGS from the market for their "rotisserie" ... Seriously?! I'm upset it cost me $12- what a ridiculous price. I was homesick and didn't want to cook, next time I will just get off my butt and cook. Perhaps the Taqueria is the last hope for pacifica? It's been a hit or miss the last few times... just missing ingredients from the orders. This time I ordered a shrimp fajita plate which lacked veggies and a shrimp burrito with brown rice, cheese, black beans, pico and shrimp which lacked beans (none), pico (very little) and I couldn't tell if there was cheese. It's been very disappointing because I've picked up and driven home already... not going to make another trip to point out the missing items and wait for them to re-make. This place is a shell of what it used to be. I had a coastal zone burrito. The amount of meat they put in that thing is a joke. It was under cooked and cold within less than a minute. For $12 I felt like I had just been robbed. Cold food, small portion and under cooked meat. It would baffle me if this place is actually organic like they claim. They had tamales and I love me some good tamales. But this was the shittiest tamale i've ever had in my life. WHAT THE HELL.... my tamale was served in a tin foil box and it sure did not look like a tamale. Where the heck is the corn husk that wraps the tamale? I enjoy unwrapping my tamale. Is this forreal? I took one bite into it and was DISTURBING!! The masa was like mash potato texture, very mushy, AND no chicken just corn and red bell pepper?????!!!! .. back that up.. corn and bell pepper??!!! UHM NOT COOL. I went back and said i asked for chicken and got this instead. "oh yah, we ran out of chicken".... if you ran out of chicken tamale, tell me when i'm ordering it, don't just serve them whatever you have left. The lady that took my order, I don't remember her name but I remember she is from Jalisco. We had a nice conversation and she made sure our order was right and we were happy since we mentioned we found the restaurant on yelp and wanted to try something different, organic Latin cuisine. I followed them on instagram and got a free agua fresca. He liked their page on facebook and also got a free agua fresca. I like their caramel filled churros. So yummy! This place is ridiculously awesome! I had been eating here for almost a month before I even realized it was organic/sustainable! The burritos can simply not be improved upon! I happen to consider myself the burrito connoisseur of all burrito connoisseurs and I'm telling you this place is awesome! I admit, sometimes it's not the easiest to get EXACTLY what I want, but more often than not it's perfect! Sometimes, I want a simple bean and cheese burrito with sour cream, and other times I simply wish to add carne asada. The way the ring me up changes every time, regardless of which I order. If I order simple bean and cheese, they'll charge me for a super veggie burrito and simply write 'no veggies' on the receipt. If adding carne asada, they charge me for a super carne and say no veggies, no guacamole. That part I don't like. Being charged for unnecessary items when they could just a la carte it I would think. I've been here since it opened and haven't gotten around to yelp about it..A bit pricey, but it's ORGANIC and i love the variety of tortillas for the burritos..u can either choose: original, wheat, spinach or tomato! PLUS...i don't need to drive all the way to the mission to get a good tasting burrito. It's convenient for me and just a hop and a skip down the hill...they also sell rotisserie chicken for 12 bones and they're quite huge. Not to mention the burritos r humungo and absolutely tasty. As the 3-star rating description says, this place is A-OK. Their food is organic, but as a result, it's a bit more expensive than typical Mexican fare. Still, the portion sizes are large so it's worth it in the end. I got the pastel azteca. Ample amounts of black beans made this dish incredibly filling. The flavor was a little bland. Time and day: 6:00pm on a Thursday Wait time for food: ~15 minutes Ambiance: Casual I ordered the Fifty/Fifty Enchilada plate with the mole enchilada and Verde enchilada, side of brown rice and black beans. I'm a sucker for Verde sauces and mole, these were delicious! The Verde sauce wasn't sickeningly salty like some places. The spiciness levels awarded flavor and heat tolerable to someone sensitive to spice as myself. The mole was sweeter than what I'm used to, but still quite a unique and yummy taste. It was great! The first time I ever ate there, the lady said, "It's the best Mexican food you've ever have!" I said, "Better than my Grandmother's!?!" The food is fresh. Would have been nice if there was actually chicken in my chicken burrito.... I ordered a bunch of food too to go... An hour in advance to give them plenty of time. Gave the place $160 of my hard earned money.... Finally got to eat and started eating and had to literally take 8 or 9 bites before I even got to any chicken at all.... This place was delicious! The staff was very friendly and the place was super clean. The menu included vegetarian and fish options for everything, a huge plus for me! The service was quick and very friendly, I ordered a super chicken burrito and it was amazing! I've eaten at very legit Mexican food places and this was just as good! Tried this place out the first week we moved into the area. The tomatillo sauce is a bit sweet for my taste and there wasn't a lot of depth in the flavors. GREAT FRESH TAKE OUT PLACE!!!! Not authentic Mexican.... this is fresh Californian Organic freshly made everything restaurant. Simple menu, but everything is good. You don't really want to eat there, it's a perfect place to grab food and go to the beach. They use lots of fresh herbs in there sauces. The average for the Green Encilada is 3 stars. I'd give it a 2 but it's gettin the 3 from me and I'll explain why. The burrito is average, kinda pricey for a super burrito. But as a single guy living in Pacifica. And I know other people gotta feel this way, sometimes I just don't feel like driving over that hill to go to the city or south city. So they get an extra star for trying to make a cool burrito spot in P-town. People complain that they take too long. Ya'll act like you have something to do. My boyfriend and I were heading out to go on a hike so we wanted to bring something with us to gorge on later. He talked about a burrito place his uncle used to take him to a lot when he was younger. They apparently have really good surf and turf burritos so I was down. It was a Friday morning and they had just opened their doors. I don't think they were expecting anybody so early because they weren't totally prepared for us when we ordered. I ordered the shrimp and carne asada burrito and wanted an agua fresca but the lady had just started pulling the fruits out to make it. My boyfriend wanted the shrimp and carne asada burrito too but they told him that they had run out of shrimp....but they had just opened up so I was so confused. My family told me about this place while my younger sister was sick with some stomach virus. The doctor told her to eat grilled fish, so she ordered some salmon tacos, I ordered the salmon burrito, and my mother ordered carnitas. While it looked like I spent a lot of money we ended up getting A TON of food, it was so much food we couldn't finish it all. The salmon and the sauces there were so delicious and mind you the Guac was FREE. I absolutely fell in love with the place, the salmon was cooked perfectly. We could not stop telling the cooks about how DELICIOUS their food was. I honestly don't see why people are complaining about this place because the food is organic, and it taste great. The pricing is perfectly fine for the portion of food, and everything just went so well together. Even if it's not authentic Mexican as some here may say, I still think the food taste amazing for being in a local area. While burritos are not usually something I would condone when sticking to a nutrition plan, a case could be made to make this a cheat day. The ingredients are fresh and from what I can tell organic, it is their slogan after all (Don't panic, it's organic- which I know is a little cheesy, but cheese is what I am looking for when I patronize this establishment) It does cost a couple bucks more than your run of the mill taqueria, but I guess it's one of those times that you get what you pay for. I usually go for the spinach wrap, but you really can't go wrong stepping a little outside your plain flour tortilla comfort zone. Carne asada, chicken, and chorizo are all very tasty and I would make an argument for the others, but I have yet to try them. I really like this place. I am in Pacifica about once a month and make a point of either eating here or Colombo's. I love their Costal Burrito with the verde sauce. It's one of the best I've had. The only complaint about it is that it's a little bit sweet but not too sweet. I order it ever time I eat here.
