Meh this place was better as El Grano de Oro. The food is certainly authentic but it's not the best. When I ordered takeout here before it was SO dry. Like not even ranch, salsa & dipping in chicken broth when I got home could aide in the quality of their carne asada. Upon trying their Lengua & chicken, not much better. I had an indigestible HARD piece of something (plastic?) in my burrito once. It's not like I just gave this taqueria a one and done review, I've been a customer since 2015. And let me tell you, 2015-2022 they were banger!! Salsa bar was amazing. Now I'm pretty sure they charge you per salsa container. I'm sure my nostalgia plays a part in this low rating but Taqueria Pacifica doesn't stand out the same way El Grano De Oro did... Too bad. Service is standard. Nothing special. First time at Taqueria Pacifica and it was pretty good. I went in at 11 am on Sunday and there was no line. The service was nice and quick. I like the salsa bar that has limes, jalapenos you don't see that at many taquerias. The inside is spacious with plenty of seating. I liked all the salsas: green, red and orange all firreee! My super al pastor burrito had great flavor and was packed with filling. The only downside was some of the pork were not that tender. But I'll be back to try the others like fish/shrimp. Wife and I wanted to grab a quick bite nearby mori point after our walk. We found Taqueria Pacifica. When we got there, we knew we went to the right place. There was a line out the door, a salsa bar and free chips. The place looked and felt authentic, lively, and welcoming. I killed my Al Pastor Super Burrito in no time. My wife, who never finishes her plate, completely devoured every last bite of her chile verde. Our picky little rice-obsessed kid actually reached for the lengua and liked it. I pass by here a lot on the way to some hikes, plus it's next to one of my fav coffee shops. When our lunch plans fell through we decided to just hop in here for some good ol' Mexican food. I got some tacos (fish and carne asada), while the mister got a quesadilla. The fish taco came with a healthy portion of grilled fish, piled so high I couldn't pick it up with my fingers! I had to resort to a fork but I'm not complaining -- the fish is fresh and delish. The carne asada is decent as well, well-seasoned and not too chewy, perfect in a taco. They have a chips and salsa bar, with 3 kinds of salsa. The salsa is pretty standard for the area, and the chips can be stale if you get to the bottom of the lot. I suppose they just pour fresh ones on top -- the highs are highs and the lows are lows. I wish they were more consistent. Overall a very friendly place with delicious items from the griddle, and very much a neighbourhood taqueria -- not worth a detour, but delivers should you need some good Mexican food while in the area. read more

This place is really close to my parent's house and I go here every-time I crave some tacos. Service is always fast and there is a lot of space inside. I ordered carnitas tacos, carne asada taco, and a carnitas crunchy taco. They all came loaded with toppings and were delicious. There's a self serve sauce and chips bar, which I appreciate. This was my first time getting the crunchy taco and it might just be my new favorite. The shell was crispy and the guacamole was a great touch. I love how they offer a smaller version of their super burrito for people who want all the toppings but can't finish the huge size so they made a super baby burrito lol. Their meat, toppings, and tortillas are all super fresh and tasty and I don't normally crave Mexican food but this place is 100% worth trying. Ambience: they've updated their menu to have led lights vs when it use to be written before and harder to see. Came to checkout this Mexican restaurant while we were in Pacifica. Walked in and the place was clean and welcoming. They have outside seating as well as inside. I decided to order the quesadillas birria tacos, the enchilada style burrito, and an enchilada plate. The food came out a bit cold. The service was kinda odd cause I said I wanted my burrito to be deep fried like a chimichanga and it wasn't. Seemed like language was a barrier but my hurry was stuffed with plenty of meat. this is an awesome small town kinda restaurant, I personally mostly do takeout but eating inside is nice too! Its location is almost unbeatable, next door is a wine bar and up the street about one block is winters tavern, so plenty of fun stuff to do before or after. Stopped by here based on the reviews on Yelp hoping to find another hidden gem in the area. My bar for tacos/burritos is Pancho Villa in San Mateo, so that's what I was picturing in my head for food. Food: Ordered 3 tacos, a crispy taco to-go, a chicken enchilada (kids) and a large guac -- to-go. Packaging was great and was given my order in 10-15 minutes so didn't have to wait long. Unfortunately, the food was a bit underwhelming. The chicken had alot of burnt pieces so I needed to scrape it off and the enchilada was a bit on the saltier side. The chips also weren't very fresh so I wasn't able to enjoy them with my guac. Ambiance: if eating indoors, there's plenty of seating - seat yourself and a salsa/chip station for unlimited refills. Maybe I had a bad one-off experience. Since it's nearby, I'm willing to give it another shot. If you have recommendations on must-haves, let me know! read more

They've got them bomb ass burritos! This is my new favorite place to grab a burrito before heading to the beach. The shop is actually pretty spacious and there's a good amount of seating if you want to dine in and enjoy your food. Parking is street only and can be a nightmare if you're trying to come here on the weekends, but it's not so bad during the week. The staff is always kind and helpful. Their salsa bar is pretty lit too and I enjoy all of their salsas, but it's something about that green salsa that always gets me. Traditionally, I'm not a burrito kind of gal. But ironically, I have only had burritos when I've eaten here. And lemme tell you; they are dayum GOOD! They cost about $15 a pop which probably would have been considered expensive a few years ago. But it's actually a good price when we're talking about these times. Plus, it's a gargantuan sized thang that's stuffed to the MAX. Skimping is absolutely NOT on their radar, folks! My favorite burrito to get here is their super chicken burrito. I usually add lettuce and get it spicy with hot sauce. It's friggin' amazing, yo! Their ingredients taste fresh and the chicken is always well marinated. Did I mention that they make the bombsiest green salsa?! Cannot get enough of it and I make sure to smother the hell out of my burrito in it every single time. This burrito usually makes two meals for me, but could be just right and filling as one meal for someone with a larger appetite. One of the best things about this place is its' proximity to the beach. You're literally just a short drive away from several beaches down the road. Bored of the same old, we ventured out to try something new, so we ended up here based on the decent reviews on Yelp. Well ahmm, sadly we did not share the same experience as others - it was quite disappointing or maybe it was just an off day for the place, IDK (that means I dont know). I went with the crispy taco that someone here recommended. The presentation was a ZERO. Placed over some limp and scarce looking lettuce was a carne asada crispy taco -kind of sad looking and naked, it didnt come with cheese. It was nothing to write home about, infact it wasn't even tasty. The lettuce really threw me off, but wanting to give this place a chance, I ordered a carne asada quesadilla -can't go wrong with a quesdadilla, right? Well, as many would appreciate an abundance of meat in their quesdailla, as would I, I didn't. Why? The ratio between the cheese and meat was off, most of the meat just poured out of the quesdallia everytime I picked it up. The Pico de Gallo was served on the side with the juice spilling on to the tortilla making the tortilla soggy by the time it had arrived to the table, it was a mess and the meat was way over cooked. Three bites and I was done. Now the highlight -my spouse ordered Menudo -this was exciting because most Mexican restaurants only offer menudo on weekends early morning or on Sundays only; it was Saturday; in the evening! Again, it was nothing to write home about, it was ok per my spouse and he made it half way thru his bowl until he was full, but sadly 15 minutes after we left, yep, we had to head home in a hurry. Yes, the dreadful D. Spouse recovered the next day thankfully. The place has people coming and going and for what I can tell it's mostly local folks It appears there aren't many Mexican choices in that area. Summary: PRICE: Fair FOOD: Our experience ,not great CUSTOMER SERVICE: Friendly CLEANLINESS: They absolutely make an effort in keeping the place clean, however, the gloves need to be changed when transitioning from handling the grabage and broom to serving plates. I miss Grano De Oro. Taqueria Pacifica - one of the worst rolled burritos I've ever had - Super Burrito Carne Asada. One side was just a thick chunk of tortilla, the other side was ripped all the way down, making it difficult to eat. The top half had a TON of sour cream, the bottom half had none. While the meat was plentiful, there were some gross hard pieces. The red salsa was good, green had nice texture, but green and orange were very salty. I try to come here once every couple years to give them another shot, but I always get similar experiences. Grano De Oro's quality was consistent, the rice was the best, and the ladies running were amazing. A lot of the 'good reviews' are from when it had that name and management. See my earlier review below from 10+ years ago -- I really do miss what this place was previously, the legendary El Grano de Oro (terrible story how it closed) -- but Taqueria Pacifica has proved to be a mostly satisfying successor, if not quite with the "homemade feel," passion and love that the three sisters of El Grano de Oro put into their cooking. So, first, one thing to tell you about their meats. First, for all you folks who, like me, prefer chicken breast to dark meat, if you're getting a burrito, taco, enchilada, etc. with their regular shredded chicken (actually, it's more in chunks), that's dark meat chicken. If you want white meat chicken that only comes with the grilled chicken plate. So I skip the chicken for those items. But one meat that they don't have listed on the menu is shredded beef. Of course they have to have it for the birria tacos, but it's not separately listed under "Meats" on the menu -- but you can still get it for your burritos, enchiladas, quesadillas, taco salads and regular non-birria tacos, like in the hard shell, for example. I get it in my enchiladas and they're wonderful. Also, I ask for pinto or black beans instead of refried -- makes a wonderful plate (see photo). Their rice is just "ok" but is the standard Mexican rice and edible. Very good chips and some good salsas, although I'd like to see at least one more red salsa option, one that's medium spicy because the two red ones they have are mild and super picante (more creamy one). But they do a generally good job, nice people, and reasonable prices for what you get. read more

Caldo can scaldo. Yes, I burned myself and not my tongue. Y'see, I was taking a longish hike on and around Mori Point and circling my way back to the car. I was walking through town and noticed this popular taqueria on the corner of Francisco and Carmel. I had what I thought was a sound idea. The plan was to get the food packed for takeout, walk the 7-1/2 blocks back to the car, and take it home to eat. I ordered heftily starting with the $16.95 Grilled Chicken Plate which provided plenty of marinated poultry but didn't travel well as the frijoles shifted to the next compartment and drowned the rice (photo: https://bit.ly/40gE0no). The salad was beyond wilted, but overall the plate was still edible. My injury occurred with the $19.95 Caldo de 7 Mares, my backup choice since they weren't serving menudo that evening. The problem really occurred when they poured the hot soup into a styrofoam container with substandard heat resistance and a flimsy lid. The cashier put it in a flimsy plastic bag. I've passed by this restaurant many times on my way to get my lashes done at Malaya. Finally decided to go in with my kids today for lunch and am really happy that we did. When we walked it, I could tell by the smell of the food that was cooking that it would be good. Very polite and quick service in a clean setting, and tasty food with good portion sizes. We had 2 burritos and a kids plate. My daughter really liked the rice and beans. We also liked the variety of salsas they had to go along with the chips. Only thing I wished they had was a water dispenser. I ended up buying a bottle water for my kids. Will definitely go back. read more

I searched Yelp for a vegetarian burrito and found Taqueria Pacifica with good ratings. I was impressed and would come back again. First off, the staff is very nice. Food is prepared close by to where you can see it being prepared. I chose the Chile Relleno burrito and asked if they could take the batter off of the pepper (since I am trying to reduce the carbs). They made the burrito as I wanted it and it was very tasty. The wait was not too long on a Thursday around 6:30 pm. The restaurant itself was about 40 percent full. I put the rating at 4 out of 5, but prolly would have given 5 if the restaurant itself was a little more tidy. I think that I may have missed a rush and maybe they were under staffed. But there were a couple of tables that still needed to be cleaned, a little bit of napkins and such on the floor and the serve yourself salsa bar could have been wiped up a bit. But, I am a little reluctant to go to the serve yourself bars, cuz you never know how clean the person before you was. read more

I ordered from Taqueria Pacifica off of Doordash so my experience is strictly for their food only and not the service or ambiance. I was craving Mexican food and wanted to try a spot I never ordered from before and wanted to try what Taqueria Pacifica has to offer. I ordered the Al Pastor Regular Taco ($4.25) and Carne Asada Super Quesadilla ($14.95). I will say that the prices are a little steep compared to other Taquerias I've been to. They also gave salsa and chips on the side. They did skimp out on the chips a little bit, but I thought the salsas were quite nice. The Al Pastor in the taco had a nice flavor although the meat was a little tougher than I would've liked. Regardless I actually really liked how fresh their tortillas were and I like the hot sauce they use. For $4.25 a taco though it is quite a lot. The Carne Asada Super Quesadilla was solid as well. I liked their Carne Asada more than the Al Pastor flavor wise, but when it comes to texture I thought it was a little chewy. It came with guacamole, sour cream, and salsa which were all really nice compliments for the quesadilla. They give a good amount, but $14.95 for a quesadilla is hard to stomach. My rating is more like a 3.5, but overall for Pacifica this is a decent spot for Mexican food and I would like to try their burritos next time as that seems to be whats most popular. read more
