Food 3 stars: pretty average leaning towards below average. Someone in the kitchen likes grilled onions and sugar a little bit too much. Most of the food/sauces were overly sweet. Carne asada plate was a small piece of dry flank steak covered in grilled onions with rice and beans. Lomo w/carne was soggy and had too much garlic. Chopped carne asada was very dry. Also disappointing that no ahí verde sauce was offered by the restaurant. Pollo a la brasa plate chicken had overpowering spices. Chicken was soggy with no crispy skin which was disappointing although the meat wasn't totally dried out so it was OK. Cheese enchilada with green sauce was far too sweet. Cheese was obviously low quality. Overall not worth going back in my opinion. Quality to price ratio is too far off. Food not very good and have to pay about $17 a plate. Price 1 star: Expensive for small portions of food that are also not very well executed. read more

Pleasantly surprised to find such gem of fresh, and very tasty food, and excellent service. The place is set on a shopping center, so there is plenty of parking, has four tables outside, small tables for two, bar stools by the front window. This locale has been recently remodeled, and lookes very clean. Ordering was a breeze, with a very friendly greeting that makes anyone feel welcome. Ordered burritos instead peruvian food, because I did not want to be disappointed, and was not. Juicy tasty, and very fresh ingredients, made for a very satisfying meal, that left us wanting more. The burritos were huge! Don't expect to have lardy heavy food here, even the tortilla chips are freshly made, and the sauces are delicious, but again this is real food. The Peruvian dishes looked delicious, and the owner brought a sample of their Peruvian cebiche, which I will for sure order on my next visit, or would it be the Lomo Saltado?...or the rotisserie chicken? I am not sure, but seeing the plates coming and going, they looked scrumptious. My son was in the mood for Mexican food after a morning of surfing and we found this place on Yelp. We were both happy with the choice. My son had a fajita burrito that we watched the cook grill from our seat. I had the green enchiladas with black beans and Spanish rice. The ingredients were all super fresh and the green tomatillo sauce was delicious. The staff was super friendly and we got our food quickly. We did miss the chips and salsa that you normally get at Mexican restaurants. Only other downside is that the place is really small and the tiny tables only sit two people (my husband was with us even though he didn't eat). Just a small thing and wouldn't stop me from eating here again. read more

Dammit, this place is VERY good- and I was ready for the worst. Menu has a LOT of choices and the prices might at first seem higher than what you are used to. But, push past that and actually order something, you will not be disappointed. I am always seeking decent mole sauce and the enchilada is in their name, so enchiladas mole it was. $13 plus tax and tip for a couple enchiladas, comes with beans and sour cream on the side. Holy mole(y), this is honestly the BEST mole sauce I've had- bar none. Just the right thickness, sharp and just spicy enough, complete tongue orgasm. What is within the tortilla is the second surprise: chicken that is perfectly moist and actually tastes like chicken! Damn amazing to actually have good chicken flavor in a time where all the bland factory-farmed stiff and tasteless protein caged animals are passed off as the same thing. They use free range organic stuff here, no doubt they put a lot of thought and care into producing a good product and the umami is perfect. I don't know what to say further, staff was cool and friendly, and they play actual music from south of the border, feels okay. Only gripe is the tiny tables with little room to dine, but it's a minor gripe. Carry-out seems to be their best bet for the time being. Hope they stay in business and expand, this is what good food tastes like. And OMG that mole is frikking amazing. After decades of trying, I have finally found a restaurant in Pacifica worthy of visiting, a gem hidden away in a funky Safeway plaza. Give them a shot, you WILL be back. read more

I've been ordering from them on a weekly basis and they make the wrong items or deliver someone else's order to us 9 out of ten times. I am tired of having my time wasted and its not worth the stress of calling and complaining, the last time I called to try and get things straightened out the woman on the phone was rude and hung up on me. Don't spend your hard-earned money with these people and order with Amami Sushi instead. They will respect your patronage and will give you the order you expect every time. I ordered their Fajitas Burrito and was surprised that they would ask me the choices of ingredients I wanted; despite seeing what they described the burrito with on the menu. Every other places I have been to has not done that before. So flavorful! That's what comes to mind from my lunch here. Unexpectedly good burrito from a postage stamp sized place in the unassuming Pacific Manor shopping center. The chicken was really tender and the balance of the flavor from the Spanish rice made this a really good burrito, along with the tortilla that was toasted through just right. This place is frustrating to me. It has all the right elements to be a delectable new favorite: organic ingredients, friendly staff, clean shop, & even going the extra green mile by providing biodegradable to-go containers. Unfortunately, when you mix all the ingredients together, the result is stunningly bland - a cross between boiled water chestnuts and stewed garbanzo beans - that is *not* how I like my mexican food. Their namesake dish, the Green Enchilada has weird tasting (over-processed?) cheese and no spice whatsoever. It comes with a side of plain, boiled black beans, palatable rice & over-cooked veggies. They have something they describe as a Mexican Lasagna, that basically tasted like those same flavorless black beans with cheese on top - ok as a side, but not exactly inspiring as a main course. We keep trying this place, in the hopes that they'll improve the taste of the food. So far, we've found that the Rotisserie chicken & ceviche are ok, and my husband likes the chicken nachos here, so we'll probably still be back from time to time. If they would hire a chef who actually has taste buds, this could easily become a huge favorite. Also, +1 on the recommendation for salsa bar. At least then you could just drown everything in sauces that would hopefully add a little flavor. read more

So this is a cute little Peruvian / Mexican restaurants in Pacifica. If you live in Pacifica or Half Moon Bay it definitely makes sense to come here. If you don't it's probably not worth the extra drive out. However the food is good and the prices are fair. Service is fine too. We have the Carnitas enchilada and the chicken enchilada plate. It was pretty good. Especially the carnitas. However I would recommend to management, that all takeout orders include a small bag of chips and napkins. We were surprised that neither was included in our takeout order. Also, I recommend a salsa bar for people to package their own salsa. read more

Nice gluten free mole sauce! If you've searched for gluten free mole, you know it's tough. Most use wheat flour to thicken it. So I was happy to find this place years ago (I reviewed it back in 2010, and now it's 2019). I went here for lunch with high hopes because I love Pacifica Farmers Market and this place was opened by the market's owner. However, based on my first visit I think there is still a lot of fine tuning needed to bring this place up to its full potential. The Green Enchilada has a lot going for it including a great location and a focus on organic ingredients. The space itself, though, is very narrow and a little claustrophobic especially when there is a line out the door and people sitting at the small number of tables. I ordered a regular Carne Asada (grilled steak) Burrito and a small order of Ceviche. My friend had the Green Enchilada Plate with chicken enchiladas, whole pinto beans, Spanish rice and steamed vegetables. No chips and salsa were in view (maybe I needed to order these). We were given a number when ordering but when our number was called only one of our dishes was ready. The second one came up just a couple of minutes later but we had to wait another 10 minutes for the Ceviche which was a little unnerving since I'd expect it would have been marinating and ready to go. (To cut them some slack, the fish and shrimp were probably marinated and ready to go but they may have cut up the tomatoes, cilantro, onions, and peppers fresh to order). My Agua de Jamaica agua fresca (Hibiscus flower cooler) drink never showed up but I managed to get it halfway through our meal by flagging down someone who momentarily happened to be on our side of the counter. The Carne Asada Burrito was small and was very light on the meat; the meat was also very dry. About halfway through I noticed that there was cheese on the burrito which I hadn't expected and didn't really want. Most regular burritos don't have cheese. I checked the menu and apparently regular burritos here do come with cheese so be sure to let them know you don't want it if you'd rather not have it. The Green Enchilada plate was OK and although the chicken had some spice the sauce, beans and rice were bland so needed to be rescued by copious doses of the bottled hot sauce we found on our table. The Ceviche tasted fresh but definitely needed more fresh jalepenos and lemon juice. Overall we were disappointed and were hoping for better especially since it ended up costing us $30 for lunch. I will definitely go back again though because I know that Joe and his team will eventually get this right. read more

Nice. I was looking on Yelp for a spot that has vegan Mexican food. A friend of mine and my wife's was visiting and she eats no meat of any kind. I happened on this place and I wanted to give you guys the lowdown. Okay, first, I see a number of the people here on Yelp talking about how bland the food is at this joint. Uh, what Green Enchilada are you guys going to? I though that the food here was just bursting with flavor--completely delicious. Whether meatless or not, everyone from our guests to my family loved the food here. The wet-style carne asada burrito I had here was HUGE and filled me full. Very tasty. It wasn't super hot, but had just the right level of spice. The only thing that tasted odd were the chips and salsa. They weren't bad, but the chips had a strange sweet taste. Yes, I'm a fan. This place is small and easy to just walk right by. There isn't a lot of seating here, but if your group is small or you're coming here alone, you'll have a great meal here. Next time you're in the Manor area of Pacifica, this is a prime destination for Mexican chow. read more
